This is a fairly new restaurant. The cuisine is Northern Thailand's and the Khai So is the best I've tasted since my visit to Chiang Mai. We were here at breakfast time and they also have classic dishes like avocado toast with bacon bits, chicken waffle. We also ordered the crispy soft shell crab. All were tasty and authentic. The portions are large. The service is beyond excellent with the nicest staff! There's indoor and outdoor dining. We will be back for some more lunch time items. read more

We came here since it says they have an outdoor seating and when we came they said they won't serve outdoor and we can just order for to go, just because they don't want to serve outside. Since we are already there and we have our dog with us, we opted for the to go order. We ordered the Thai Noodle crab meat, Khao soi pork belly and kinaree fried rice total was $85 which is expensive for 3 orders, and the taste is very average nothing impressive. The service is very disappointing too, it makes you feel like they don't really want to accomodate you and we came around 2:30pm so it's not busy. I've read a couple of reviews about their poor service and I must say, it's true. For me, even if the food is just average but the service is exceptional I would definitely comeback but for this place, the food is just average and the service is bad as well so I am not coming back- there are a lot of other restaurants that are more affordable and they have a great service. read more

Kinaree is an interesting Thai brunch concept in the Quail Hill shopping center, located near Bacchus and Hanshin Pocha. It was really busy when we arrived, but luckily my boyfriend and I were able to be seated without much of a wait. It did take them a bit to take our order but at least we got to wait inside and comfortably seated. The restaurant was a little cramped but they are really trying to use up that square footage. They even have diners seating outdoors to maximize business. There was one TV in the corner that was playing one of the world cup games that morning. When they finally came to take our order, we decided to share the Shrimp Donut ($19). My entrees, my boyfriend decided on the Meat Lovers Omelette ($22) and I had the Kinaree Chicken Waffle ($25). I also ordered their Thai Iced Tea ($6). The shrimp donut came out after our entrees even though it's a started. It just tastes like fish paste they shaped and deep fried. The one on their menu was so pretty but the ones that came out to us were more like lumps than donut shaped. The taste was so-so. I wouldn't order this again. My boyfriend's meat lovers omelette was the best dish at our table from a portion and taste perspective. It had bacon, pork sausage, ham, sharp cheddar cheese, spinach and onion in the omelette. And each omelette is served with half a slice of French toast, breakfast potatoes, and salad. Very well rounded meal. Highly recommended. I don't like the French toast, could have been better soaked but the rest of the components on this plate was really strong and tasty. My Kinaree chicken waffle was less exciting. The fried chicken was really dried. Instead of one large chicken piece like other places who do this dish, they use scrap dries parts of the chicken and the batter is tough and hard. I was picking off the edges and trying to eat the edible parts. The waffle was like any old waffle. The two items tasted like two different dishes and it even came with 2 sauces. One for the waffle and one for the chicken. I ate about half of this, not because I was full, but because I didn't want to eat any more of it. We had to waive down staff for the check. They offered us boxes and I was like no thanks. This was a really expensive meal for me to leave so unsatisfied. You're paying for the cute decor, but when I go to brunch I want to eat tasty food too. read more

My sister chose Kinaree for her birthday brunch, and unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. We had a party of seven. My daughter and I arrived a little later than everyone else, so the other five were seated first, which was understandable. However, things went downhill after that. Once we were seated, we didn't receive water until about 45 minutes later. To make matters worse, the soup bowls we were given were dirty. The servers were friendly and courteous, which I appreciated, but the service overall was very slow. The food was just okay--it was much sweeter than expected, and nothing really stood out. I was really excited to try this spot -- I love fusion restaurants and the idea of a Thai‑inspired brunch sounded so fun. Unfortunately, the dishes didn't deliver on the fusion concept. I ordered the fried chicken and waffle, and it honestly tasted pretty standard. I didn't get any Thai flavors at all -- just regular fried chicken with a side of sweet chili sauce. The mama noodle dish was the biggest letdown: dry, lacking flavor, and definitely not an elevated take on instant noodles. The pork belly was okay, but it didn't have that crispy, crunchy bite you'd expect. On the bright side, the staff was friendly and welcoming. But overall, the food felt overpriced for what it was. This has been on my list to try! We visited on a Sunday and the wait was quite long. We waited for about an hour. We saw that there was a party of 20 so I'm guessing that's why the wait was very long. The inside is not super big, but very cute and aesthetic. We wanted to family style our meal. The Khao Soi was so good. I'm obsessed with it. Very flavorful and deep. I love the crunch of the noodles, in addition to the noodles already in the soup. Chicken Waffle was also pretty good. Not dry! Holy Chili Bomb Basil Omelette was really good. I was surprised. I usually don't order omelette as but would definitely order this again. The basil was delicious and there was an Asian fusion to it. The soufflé pancakes were good too. They were soft and loved the cream and jam to go with it. Matcha was okay. I ended up getting the creme brulee souffle pancakes and my husband got the crispy belly & belly rice dish. The staff is friendly and food comes out quick. We ordered their cocktails which are really yummy . The songkrang and the cucumber cocktail. For appetizers we shared the fried crab rolls and the shrimp donuts. Both are crisp, flavorful and fun to eat! Came here for brunch with the family. Cute little modern Thai spot tucked in the corner of the Quail Hill Plaza. Food was mediocre (majority of the table were not satisfied/happy with what they ordered). Khao Soi was the star of the day. One with fried pork belly the other with soft shell crab. Chewy noodles, soup with the right amount of kick (for us) & the chosen meats were ok but helped break up the flavor of the dish. Good portion Crème Brûlée Soufflé pancake: it was decent a bit more dense than expected. Lacked flavor & it needed that glob of sauce they added which didn't look appetizing. Fruit was fresh & they let you know that this dish will take longer to make. Forth least favorite Farmer's Classic: standard American breakfast. Potatoes were the star. Let's leave it at that. Second least favorite Meat Lover's Omlette: sad, very sad. Majority of meat was luncheon meat ham. $22 you smoking crack. Again, potato was the star. Least favorite Hot Pot Tom Yum Soup: I didn't get to try this but I heard it was just ok. Tied for fourth least favorite Chicken & waffles: Burnt-they need to change the oil or watch the chicken better. Only came with 2 small pieces, the third piece was just over-fried batter/skin. The dish comes out looking like a big portion but when you take it apart it's a different story. This was the last dish that came out too. Third least favorite. So majority of the table was finished eating this is why it wasn't sent back. We didn't know how much longer we'd have to wait to get another dish. The dishes came out inconsistently with huge gaps in between this would be fine if it was family style but it's not. Example: Khao Soi w/pork was one of the first dishes but the Khao Soi w/soft shell crab was second to last & majority of table again were finished eating. Welcome to Irvine! This place is the whole package. Easy parking, super friendly staff, and bright, casual space. The food...well, come hungry and try as many things as you can. I came here for brunch on Easter Sunday. We waited less than 15mins to get seated even though it seemed busy. We all ordered brunch foods, even though the menu also has a good variety of Thai dishes as well. We also got an order of the soufflé pancakes to share, which was the highlight of the meal for me. The pancakes were light and fluffy, and were topped with whipped cream and a delicious strawberry sauce. I ordered the smoked salmon benedict for my main, which came with potatoes and salad. The flavors were good and I liked the variety of ingredients used in the dishes! Everyone else at my table also said they enjoyed their meal. It was a bit hard to get attention from the waiters, as it seems they are a bit understaffed and it was quite busy. Our table was missing condiments, and we couldn't get the waiters attention to bring us some, so we ended up just borrowing them from an empty table. This is my second time coming here now, and I love the food! The first time I had the khao soi and the second we got the crispy chicken curry and the chili omelette. I haven't been disappointed with anything yet. The khao soi was flavorful; the crispy chicken curry was indeed crispy and yummy; the omelette had meat that was similar to pad kra pao, which I love. The service has been pretty standard, but I also see there's usually only one server for the whole restaurant. Kinaree is a new spot that's Thai AND American brunch fusion. Their menu is EXTENSIVE and there's basically something for everyone here. I tried Thai-style super crispy fried chicken, braised beef khao soi, curry with soft shell crab, and jumbo crab pad Thai. I'm not kidding...this meal is still living in my head rent-free, and everything was just absolutely picture-perfect. The crunch on the gigantic garlic prawns was actually insane, and reminded me so much of the super crispy shell-on prawns from Lotus of Siam in Vegas (iykyk). For the more classic breakfast-y items, they have jiggly souffle pancakes, steak & eggs, and even battered fish eggs benedict that you have to try It's such a fantastic spot and the interior is just so cute. This is a very unique Thai fusion restaurant and a few friends have recommended going there. I placed an online order and ordered the holy chili bomb basil omelette, which is essentially pad ka prao filling in the omelette. I am not big on omelettes, but I do love pad ka prao. The pad ka prao was a bit on the sweeter side. I like my pad ka prao more savory than sweet, but the flavor was good. I like that it is paired with some roasted potatoes. I am not too fond of the bread, which is like a French toast texture minus the sweet maple syrup and cinnamon. I wish I was served with a Thai chili fish sauce for the omelette. My order was ready within the time it promised me. It was packed with utensils and napkins when I went to pick it up. From what I saw while waiting, the restaurant is small but cute. It may not be a hole in the wall and may look sheik but the food speaks for itself and it will blow your taste buds away! The Garlic prawns are garlicky and hard to put down!!! If you like a good omelette then the holy chili bomb basil omelette is the only choice for your omelette fix. My favorite dish was the KHOA SOI beef with a rich broth and thick noodles that make sure slurp. Make sure to keep it going with the soft shell crab!! They even have steak and eggs. The meat is very tender and nicely cut. And i probably had the best bennys in the west side here. The battered fish Benedict was scrumptious and soft. 5/5! Such a great brunch spot and I'm already excited to come back and try more of the menu. I got the smoked salmon Benedict and it was delicious--exactly what you'd want from a Benedict. The eggs were poached perfectly, and the salmon wasn't overly fishy at all. The hollandaise wasn't super traditional and leaned a bit thicker than expected, but it was still very well-seasoned and worked surprisingly well with the dish. We also ordered the Khao Yum Kai Zabb, which was absolutely incredible. The sauce drenching the fried chicken was super flavorful and really unique. It had a more acidic/vinegar-forward flavor that reminded me a bit of a Filipino dish, plus a strong fried shallot flavor that made it even better. Also have to shout out the Thai tea--it was delicious, and they definitely do not skimp on the tea flavor. So many places make it overly sweet, but this one had a strong tea taste that I loved. The creme brulee flavor didn't really mesh well with the toast for us. Maybe it would have tasted better if the edges of the toast were crispy - crispy belly & belly rice: this was pretty good but a bit expensive - soft shell crab: the texture of the crab was perfectly crunchy. Finally to have a new Thai spot where you don't need to be waiting forever to eat. ( I came during a weekday lunch hour) I love a menu that has pictures! Although each picture makes decision making worse when you want to order most things in the menu. I went for their beef Khao Soi- it was full of flavor but on the oiler side. Next up was the chicken waffle, the chicken wasn't dry and I did love the sauce that came with it. The crème brûlée French toast did take like 30 min to prepare so order in advance if you want that. I had to try the matcha coconut drink with huge chunks of coconut slabs that was a treat to bite into once I finished my refreshing drink. Ok this is one solid restaurant. The service, food, atmosphere, and prices were so right. My friend and I dined on a weekday around noon and it wasn't very busy. The waiter was friendly and professional, patiently answering questions we had. When our 4 dishes came out we were so impressed with the portion sizes, presentation, and great flavors. I loved that they weren't too conservative in making their food a little spicier. The crying tiger does not come with rice and I found it more enjoyable once we had rice added to our order. The portion of this particular dish is small, but the quality of the beef is excellent and the flavors of the dressings elevate the dish further. The tom yum noodle soup has fish balls, shrimp, pork and sausage. The flavors are explosive and absolutely delicious. However, our experience felt unwelcoming from the start. We arrived with two babies and politely requested a corner booth. The male host appeared visibly unhappy with our request, which immediately made us feel uncomfortable. My sister and mother even began looking around the plaza for other lunch options. As we were about to leave, the host called us back to let us know that a table was ready, so we decided to stay. Once seated and ready to order, we flagged down another staff member. He told us he couldn't take our order because another table had arrived before us and wanted to order first. We were patient and understanding, but then noticed him walking around, heading to the kitchen, and eventually returning to us--apparently changing his mind. We ordered the Khao Soi, Tom Yum soup, braised pork leg rice, and two drinks: Thai green tea and matcha yuzu. Food-wise, my mom enjoyed the Khao Soi, which reminded her of a curry my aunt makes. The braised pork leg was interesting and tasted similar to Chinese-style braised pork belly. Unfortunately, the Tom Yum soup was disappointing--despite looking appealing, the noodles made the soup overly soggy and affected the texture. Luckily we didn't wait very long for a weekend, ~15mins. Got the beef khao soi and the kinaree fried chicken plate. The khao soi is pretty good with a decent amount of spice to it. The fried chicken was flavorful with the chili rice powder dipping sauce, sweet sauce, and sticky rice in a traditional bamboo steamer. My main complaint is the fried chicken was over fried so it was a bit burnt and dry. The sticky rice also could've used some more soaking as it was sticky enough so it also felt dry. Service is a little slow, but they're still new. Food was hit and miss. The chicken waffle was the favorite with the pad Thai coming in close. The dishes are a bit on the higher end of pricing with dishes being around $25 each. Would go back and try more for a special occasion. read more

Kinaree Eatery is a new Thai restaurant in Irvine's Quail Hill. You won't find pad thai or pad see ew, but they do offer an assortment of breakfast/brunch dishes, along with some entrees. I was curious to try the khao soi with chicken ($22) since it seems that the dish varies greatly from restaurant to restaurant. They have five spice levels - from not spicy to very hot. The waiter took one look at me and said that I could handle the medium. I was a little worried because even though I'm Asian, I am sensitive to spice. Turns out he was right. Their khao soi is not as rich and coconutty as other versions. It was very flavorful, with lots of pickled greens and noodles. My only complaint is that the chicken was not as tender as I would have liked (love it when it falls right off the bone), but at least I didn't have to engage in a battle to remove the meat. Service is very attentive (they kept my water glass from getting empty) and the interior is decorated nicely. I wish that the pricing wasn't as high - it's the one thing keeping me from rushing back. They close at 4pm, so don't try coming here for dinner. Lots of parking in the lot. read more

There are plenty of parking spaces. Inside is pretty small. You can waitlist via the iPad at the entrance. The wait went by pretty fast for us, but it did get packed later on. I ordered the Crispy Belly & Belly Rice. It was delicious, and the Crispy Pork Belly was flavorful and crispy! I'd come back and try their other items!
