5/5! Such a great brunch spot and I'm already excited to come back and try more of the menu. I got the smoked salmon Benedict and it was delicious--exactly what you'd want from a Benedict. The eggs were poached perfectly, and the salmon wasn't overly fishy at all. The hollandaise wasn't super traditional and leaned a bit thicker than expected, but it was still very well-seasoned and worked surprisingly well with the dish. We also ordered the Khao Yum Kai Zabb, which was absolutely incredible. The sauce drenching the fried chicken was super flavorful and really unique. It had a more acidic/vinegar-forward flavor that reminded me a bit of a Filipino dish, plus a strong fried shallot flavor that made it even better. Also have to shout out the Thai tea--it was delicious, and they definitely do not skimp on the tea flavor. So many places make it overly sweet, but this one had a strong tea taste that I loved. The staff is friendly and food comes out quick. We ordered their cocktails which are really yummy . The songkrang and the cucumber cocktail. For appetizers we shared the fried crab rolls and the shrimp donuts. Both are crisp, flavorful and fun to eat! For our mains we ordered the Thai bomb omelette, the fried fish egg Benedict and the northern Thai sausage plate with sticky rice. Food came out well decorated for the eyes and smells devine. Finally was able to stop by to try breakfast here with a friend. It was empty on a Wednesday morning and much easier than trying to get a seat on the weekend. Cute spot- decor was a little busy. Service was OK. When we asked for recommendations, all she said was everything is great and look at the pictures. Also disappointed that they didn't have lattes and only black coffee. Food was great. Welcome to Irvine! This place is the whole package. Easy parking, super friendly staff, and bright, casual space. The food...well, come hungry and try as many things as you can. I came here a couple times and these are the only pics I could get because we dove right in! So far my favorite is the crab fried rice. The flavor combination just hits you. I have no idea what the green sauce was but it was a perfect condiment for this dish. I kind of love fried chicken and have been told that I eat too much of it. I came here for brunch on Easter Sunday. We waited less than 15mins to get seated even though it seemed busy. We all ordered brunch foods, even though the menu also has a good variety of Thai dishes as well. We also got an order of the soufflé pancakes to share, which was the highlight of the meal for me. The pancakes were light and fluffy, and were topped with whipped cream and a delicious strawberry sauce. I ordered the smoked salmon benedict for my main, which came with potatoes and salad. The flavors were good and I liked the variety of ingredients used in the dishes! Everyone else at my table also said they enjoyed their meal. It was a bit hard to get attention from the waiters, as it seems they are a bit understaffed and it was quite busy. Our table was missing condiments, and we couldn't get the waiters attention to bring us some, so we ended up just borrowing them from an empty table. This is a very unique Thai fusion restaurant and a few friends have recommended going there. I placed an online order and ordered the holy chili bomb basil omelette, which is essentially pad ka prao filling in the omelette. I am not big on omelettes, but I do love pad ka prao. The pad ka prao was a bit on the sweeter side. I like my pad ka prao more savory than sweet, but the flavor was good. I like that it is paired with some roasted potatoes. I am not too fond of the bread, which is like a French toast texture minus the sweet maple syrup and cinnamon. I wish I was served with a Thai chili fish sauce for the omelette. My order was ready within the time it promised me. It was packed with utensils and napkins when I went to pick it up. From what I saw while waiting, the restaurant is small but cute. This place definitely feels like one of the more pricier Thai options in the area, but it's a pretty solid choice in quality. The kitchen seems small and they didn't have a lot of staff on hand when we went, so expect possible slower service than other places. Everyone was friendly though. We went for brunch and ordered: - pandan sweet tea: the pandan was way too subtle and light... Wouldn't recommend this - creme brulee french toast: this was okay. The creme brulee flavor didn't really mesh well with the toast for us. Maybe it would have tasted better if the edges of the toast were crispy - crispy belly & belly rice: this was pretty good but a bit expensive - soft shell crab: the texture of the crab was perfectly crunchy. Ok this is one solid restaurant. The service, food, atmosphere, and prices were so right. My friend and I dined on a weekday around noon and it wasn't very busy. The waiter was friendly and professional, patiently answering questions we had. When our 4 dishes came out we were so impressed with the portion sizes, presentation, and great flavors. I loved that they weren't too conservative in making their food a little spicier. The sweet, savory, and spicy kick of the apple salad made it so unique and refreshing easily making this my favorite dish. It also came with a gigantic piece of fish. Although each picture makes decision making worse when you want to order most things in the menu. I went for their beef Khao Soi- it was full of flavor but on the oiler side. Next up was the chicken waffle, the chicken wasn't dry and I did love the sauce that came with it. The crème brûlée French toast did take like 30 min to prepare so order in advance if you want that. I had to try the matcha coconut drink with huge chunks of coconut slabs that was a treat to bite into once I finished my refreshing drink. Service played a significant role in this rating. I understand that this restaurant is small, busy, and has limited seating, with booth seating available by reservation only. However, our experience felt unwelcoming from the start. We arrived with two babies and politely requested a corner booth. The male host appeared visibly unhappy with our request, which immediately made us feel uncomfortable. My sister and mother even began looking around the plaza for other lunch options. As we were about to leave, the host called us back to let us know that a table was ready, so we decided to stay. Once seated and ready to order, we flagged down another staff member. He told us he couldn't take our order because another table had arrived before us and wanted to order first. We were patient and understanding, but then noticed him walking around, heading to the kitchen, and eventually returning to us--apparently changing his mind. We ordered the Khao Soi, Tom Yum soup, braised pork leg rice, and two drinks: Thai green tea and matcha yuzu. Food-wise, my mom enjoyed the Khao Soi, which reminded her of a curry my aunt makes. The braised pork leg was interesting and tasted similar to Chinese-style braised pork belly. Unfortunately, the Tom Yum soup was disappointing--despite looking appealing, the noodles made the soup overly soggy and affected the texture. Luckily we didn't wait very long for a weekend, ~15mins. Got the beef khao soi and the kinaree fried chicken plate. The khao soi is pretty good with a decent amount of spice to it. The fried chicken was flavorful with the chili rice powder dipping sauce, sweet sauce, and sticky rice in a traditional bamboo steamer. My main complaint is the fried chicken was over fried so it was a bit burnt and dry. The sticky rice also could've used some more soaking as it was sticky enough so it also felt dry. Kinaree Eatery is a new Thai restaurant in Irvine's Quail Hill. You won't find pad thai or pad see ew, but they do offer an assortment of breakfast/brunch dishes, along with some entrees. I was curious to try the khao soi with chicken ($22) since it seems that the dish varies greatly from restaurant to restaurant. They have five spice levels - from not spicy to very hot. The waiter took one look at me and said that I could handle the medium. I was a little worried because even though I'm Asian, I am sensitive to spice. Turns out he was right. Their khao soi is not as rich and coconutty as other versions. It was very flavorful, with lots of pickled greens and noodles. My only complaint is that the chicken was not as tender as I would have liked (love it when it falls right off the bone), but at least I didn't have to engage in a battle to remove the meat. Service is very attentive (they kept my water glass from getting empty) and the interior is decorated nicely. I wish that the pricing wasn't as high - it's the one thing keeping me from rushing back. My wife and I have been here twice. The first time was shortly after the soft open, so we assumed any issues with the service or food was due to that. We returned a few months later, and the there were still issues with the service and food. Both times I ordered the bacon and avocado benedict. The first time, the hollandaise sauce had a more mayonnaise-like taste. The second time, the hollandaise sauce was very bland and had an odd texture. It also took over 30 minutes for my order to arrive. The customers at tables next to us had ordered before we arrived and got their orders around the same time as us. It does get busy at lunch so I would suggest coming early. We didn't have any issues but the table next to us did and I felt bad for them. The poor table to us, somehow never got their 2nd entree and finally had to take it to go. What a gem! We found this spot nearby our work and we were pleasantly surprised. They have a decent menu- one for brunch and one for lunch. We got the Khao Soi with soft-shelled crab and it was so good! Their noodles were al dente and the crab was a decent size. They let you pick the spice on this, and we opted for mild but you can't really taste the heat. I would go spicier! The pork jowl was also really tasty! The thai basil on top of each bite was a great balance. The flavor reminded me of a Vietnamese flavor. You can't finish the meal without a sweet! As for vegetarian options, I didn't see many on the menu but they happily subbed out the chicken for tofu on the basil omelet dish. Parking was easy since it is in a shopping complex. The dishes were so beautiful and rich in colors, just like the decors in the restaurant. Service was friendly. The reason I gave a 4 star was because the prices were a bit high, for the food you get. The fried chicken was on the dry side and a little bland. The chicken in khao soi was tender but not falling off the bones soft. They are newly opened and probably need time to settle. I tried Kinaree Thai for lunch and everything I ordered ended up being way better than I expected. I got the boat noodles, my friends got the Belly Belly, and their green tea. The boat noodles had this super rich, comforting broth that tasted like it had layers of flavor built into it. The noodles were cooked just right and the toppings actually had some substance to them -- not the skimpy kind. The Belly Belly came out with that perfect crunchy crust but the inside stayed really soft and juicy. And their green tea? Honestly one of the smoothest Thai green teas I've had. Tried this new spot that's in Quail Hill shopping center right by Bacchus and Thai Bamboo. It's a twist of Thai food and brunch dishes. The place gets super busy, so I highly recommend making a recommendation before hand. We tried a variety of dishes. I think the best dish was the crab fried rice. The green sauce was a delicious pairing. The kow soi was a little underwhelming. The noodles were more on the al dente side. I prefer a softer noodle that's easier to chew. The soufflé pancakes are a nice shareable dessert. If you are a matcha person, I would not recommend any of the matcha drinks. Unfortunately the matcha is extremely bitter and it took a lot of Splenda packets to make it more appetizing. Ambience and service was decent for being a brand new restaurant. I've visited Kinaree Eatery twice, and while the food was consistently good, the service issues were also consistent. I'd rate the food a solid 4/5; The flavors are great, presentation is nice, and the Asian fusion menu is exciting. The service, unfortunately, has been closer to a 1.5/5 both times. On my second visit, I brought my mom because she had looked over the menu beforehand and was genuinely impressed and excited to try it. We ordered the steak and eggs, chicken and waffles, and the crème brûlée soufflé pancakes. The steak and eggs came out first without issue, but then we waited about 30 minutes for the chicken and waffles. We eventually had to remind them that it still hadn't come out. After that, we waited another hour for the crème brûlée soufflé pancakes and again, we had to remind them. We were told, "It should be out in 10 minutes," but instead they brought out the regular berry soufflé pancakes. The woman who had just been seated next to us waved down the server and said, "Oh, that's mine." The server apologized and told us they hadn't actually made the crème brûlée pancakes yet. It took another 15-20 minutes before we finally received them. We waited almost an hour and a half for the crème brûlée soufflé pancakes. Overall, the long waits and mix-up were disappointing, especially since there wasn't much of an apology beyond a quick acknowledgment, and nothing was comped or discounted for the inconvenience. It left us feeling a bit overlooked while other tables were getting their orders just fine. The seating is also very tight for two-top tables; You can clearly hear the entire conversation of the table next to you. They have plenty of outdoor seating, but we were told they aren't opening that area, which felt a little inconvenient given how cramped and loud it can be inside. Also worth noting: They currently don't have a Yelp waitlist and currently don't take reservations. You have to show up and put your name down in person. I'd recommend coming earlier if you plan to eat here because it can get very busy. I do think they have huge potential, especially since they seem fairly new. The food itself is good, and I truly want to like this place and hope the service and care for the customers in waiting time for food can immensely improve. read more

Broth was flavorful and paired nicely with the noodles and pickled veggies. As a spice lord, I'd always recommend getting it hot hot but you can do medium or none. I'm pretty sure one of the staff walked past me 3~4 times before I was asked to be sat. But I'll write this off as a one time mistake. We visited this Thai American-style restaurant on Black Friday. Despite the holiday rush, the food itself was flavorful and enjoyable, and the ambience was pleasant and welcoming. However, there were only two servers working the floor, which made it difficult for them to keep up with customer requests. We waited quite a long time for our drinks, and our dishes came out nearly 30 minutes apart. While we still enjoyed the meal overall, the long gaps between servings affected the flow of the dining experience. The restaurant has a lot of potential, and with better staffing on busy holidays--both in the kitchen and in the front of house--the customer service could match the quality of the food. Went on a Wednesday early afternoon... wasn't busy. Very cute spot, but the service was lacking. It seemed like it was kinda rushed to have us out of there, even though more people arrived after us. The lychee pleasesy was really really good. I got the Kinaree fried chicken and the rice was COLD. That was a bummer. I'd probably go back (early morning) and see if the service was different. read more
