I would have preferred an electric hot plate or something so I can adjust the temperature to how I would like it. I thought the idea of putting cream inside a hot pot was kind of strange, but I liked testing new food, so here I was. Curry taste was on point with a little kick of spicy. There were more vegetables than meat, which I expected so I ordered a side dish of beef. Nothing was too special about the ingredients, but they did compliment each other well. I'm here every week! Probably came 9x in the last month alone. Super good lamb, fast seating even when crowded and pretty deserted on weekdays. The star taken off is mainly just because of consistency. I get a lamb, hot spicy, no mushrooms, add original wok noodle every single time. And not a single time has been the same! Sometimes it's more spicy, sometimes it's not spicy, sometimes I get a mushroom, sometimes they sub out something for more cabbage or greens. Honestly it is a mess, you'd think that out of 9+times at least 2 of them would be the same, but it has not. It doesn't seem like they have any form of standardization and just do things on the fly. However, even with that mishap, people who come here once in a while probably wouldn't even know and it hasn't deterred me yet. I love boiling point! It's such a great filling place and haven't found a place as good as this yet! I love the Beef medium with rice/vermicelli!!! Now, the chef here makes it a little spicy compared to other Boiling Point, so I actually get mild instead! If you want a little bit bigger portion and love spicy food, I would recommend the Taiwanese Spicy! If you want mild/no spicy and don't like a meaty broth, I would recommend the seafood! The wait for BP is usually kinda gnarly during lunch but we went around 2/3, which was pretty decent in terms of wait time. We got the Taiwanese spicy ($21) and the beef ($16). The Taiwanese is a slightly larger and it's pretty spoicy for all the spice lover. My cousin selected MILD but they gave her a hot spicy broth so make sure you carefully specify your spice level. Revisiting BP makes me miss how i really enjoy their broth. We came slight after lunchtime (2pm) and the waitress was kind enough to offer us the free black tea which is only available during lunch. I appreciate the free tea. Definitely one of my favorite spots to go for individual hot pot. read more

Surprising for a hot pot place, the spice levels are spicier than you would imagine. I like a kick, medium was too spicy, but mild worked perfectly. Service is fast, efficient, not the friendliest, however that's not a huge deal at a place like this. If you come for lunch, you get a free tea (black or green). It's premade so on the sweet side. My mom has been trying to get a seat for herself (and her friends) at the other Boiling Point in Fremont for a while now. Never got in until now and, unfortunately for her, it was with us (the family) instead of with her friends. X3 There's a reason for that, and it's because it's a very popular place. Have someone come earlier to sign in on the waiting list because there most probably WILL be a waiting time. Even more so for this place, as it's apparently smaller than the other location. I counted around 14 four-seaters, and they don't seem to have anything smaller than those. If you want to go here with a party of more than four, you definitely want to come much, MUCH earlier to put your name on the list because they're really going to have to wait out a certain number of adjacent tables to leave before seating you. This is true even if it's just 5 people, the place is already a bit of a squeeze. Overall, WOULD NOT recommend coming here casually if you have a group of more than four. On another note, I'll just say it now. We got three different dishes, and Japanese Miso seems to be the one that comes in the biggest portion. At least, bigger than the House Special or Beef. I was really happy with it. The miso soup was mild (I wasn't in the mood for spicy), but had a strong enough flavor to carry over into the ingredients in the pot. One of the other things I was impressed with was that you get EXACTLY what is shown in the picture. And It's good to be aware thing to be aware that. For example, in my miso hotpot, I found one clam. Just like in the picture. My mom wasn't too happy with that or the one clam in hers, because she was expecting a bit more than that. So, you know, heads up. Really, love customization options. I do find some of the add-on options pricey, but I love just HOW MUCH you can adjust the spiciness level (none, mild, medium, spicy, flaming hot). Mild is great. Medium was actually giving my brother and dad (who do like spicy), some trouble. Another part of this customization at BP is the four sauces, and I would recommend you to put it in the sauce plate and experimenting with mixing different amounts of them together. It's fun to see how different ingredients from different pots taste like with different combinations of sauces. My favorite combo was 3 spoonfuls of of garlic soy with one and a half spoon of garlic bean paste and a sprinkle of the chili oil. It somehow managed to work for almost everything in all three pots (miso, beef, house special). Love the small details. Table perfectly sized to fit four pots for the four people seated, the stamp on the tofu, and even the basil seed lemonade was just a really great finisher. Fresh and with a very soft, sweet acidic bite with the seeds being like little bobas. Would also highly recommend getting the jelly dessert. My mom really liked it, and BP was perfectly fine with getting us two Milky Soft Herbal Jelly to go. Overall, great experience. Will come back if able! read more

Throughout our whole time there we only got attended once, and that was when they served us. The girl also spilled some soup on the table, she didn't come back to clean it. Looking around, you can't help but notice the giant plumes of steam coming off of each hot pot. The thought of digging in to a giant warm bowl of soup was only enticing my hunger more. But as I voiced this to my boyfriend, I noticed that I could see my own breath in front of me! It was THAT cold in the restaurant -- weird to be cracking the AC so high when it was already cold outside. I get that the soup at its "boiling point" and a large amount of people will easily bump up the overall temperature of the room, but jeeez it was chilly. After we were finally seated, the servers were quick to take our order and our piping hot items came out soon afterwards. My boyfriend ordered the #4 Beef and I ordered the #7 Tomato Veggie (which people should note, also has pork). The food was good and cooked almost immediately with the heat of the soup, but unfortunately the portions were pretty small despite the price tag. I guess the side of rice was meant to fill you up rather than the hot pot itself. For the portion size, price, and the strangely cold, refrigerator-like temperatures, I'll probably go elsewhere for more/better hot pot and a more comfortable meal. Staff: The staff can be pretty uncaring sometimes. Of course there are exceptions but most times, you have to catch their attention if you want something. It can get busy though sometimes so it's not always their fault. Food: I love their pots, but the main star is THE SAUCE. They have a selection of three sauces and you need to mix all of them. I honestly smother my toppings in this sauce and it's amazinggg. TIP: after you eat all the ingredients inside, dump your rice in and make it into a porridge. It's so good like that. Taiwanese style hot pot is definitely not my fave compared to regular shabu shabu style, but I def. was open to trying it again at different places. Wait was less than 20 minutes on a week night, and ordering was pretty simple overall. This place provides many different soup bases with an array of meat-seafood-veggies-noddles fix ins per each soup style. I opted for the spicy Korean bean paste style (medium spicy) and a mango slushie. Soup flavor overall was just OK to me, but the Spiciness was some real fire! Thank god for that slushie, which was BOMB! Second time around here (yes I came again since my sis & beau wanted to try) -- I got the Thai fusion (medium spicy) and this broth overall was much better - although again nothing special. Honestly, I'd say overall the hot pot here was nothing special. Yeah you do get a lot of things in the constant sizzling hot bowl (rice cakes, beef, tofu, veggies, noodles, etc) + a side of rice (which IDK why when I already have noodles in the soup?) ALL for a great price. But I think overall I just don't like Taiwanese style hot pot. Having all the ingredients in the hot bowl all in the beginning is like an intense eating contest. My favorite meal is taiwanese because it comes with flaming spicy which is the spiciest level they have. It also comes with bigger size than usual. Great place to satisfy my hot pot needs! I've never really had a huge issue with parking since the plaza is rather large and I don't normally come during the peak hours. Wait time isn't too bad and you can opt in for electronic updates as well so I've always gone to ranch 99 to browse while waiting for my number to be called. I frequent this place on a weekly basis and the service is surprisingly above average in comparison to other places that are open late. The staff are super understanding and friendly even with customers coming. They're easy to communicate with and are super approachable. Service has been pretty consistent even with rush hour. Similarly to other places, the menu is used through QR code scanning which makes it a safer and more efficient way or ordering. They have a few options for hot pot with Beef being the best out of them. I've tried Lamb, Curry, and House Special while usually getting a medium level of spiciness. Definitely recommend trying all of them, however, I would not suggest getting the House Special if you're not a fan of strong smells. I normally don't get intestine or sticky tofu but was willing to try it and now I know why I don't get it LOL. Drinks are also quite par. If you come here during the weekday for lunch anytime after 12:15pm, the wait is kind of long. However, it goes by quickly. I normally order the beef one while my boyfriend orders the thai one. The thai one is good but very spicy. I wish it came in a less spicy flavor. The flavor is so rich and delicious. For me, I would have to scoop out all the oil to be able to handle the spice level. The milk tea drinks here are good too, although I don't care for their boba since it's a bit hard. If you come here for lunch you get free green or black tea. I think I found my favorite hot pot place! :) I never really enjoyed going out for hot pot since I rather hot pot at home, but Boiling Point changed my mind :) I been addicted to this place since I first tried it! I love how close this place is to my place/work! I can stop by for lunch or dinner whenever :) Note there's two different price for lunch and dinner. Lunch menu (11am-3pm) comes with soup + a bowl of rice + complimentary green or black tea for $11.99 ($4 extra if you order #8, 9, or 10). The drinks are premade so you cannot customize the sweetness level :( Dinner (3pm-9pm) comes with just soup + rice for $12.99 (again, $4 extra fo $8, 9, 10). I been here three times and if you want to avoid a line, I suggest coming early at 11:00/11:30am for lunch or plan on waiting 30+ mins after that. If you want to come in for the lunch price it ends at 3pm, but you'll need to make sure you get there by 1:30/2:00 to ensure you get seated before they start charging dinner price. If you want this for dinner I suggest coming at 5pm, there's no line or wait time yet, but it gets crowded by 6:30ish. This is all based on the few times I been here, but I know they are still in their "soft opening" so the time/wait can change. I'm a picky eater and out of the three times I been here I only tried #4 Beef and it's soo good and I ate everything in my pot! It's my favorite and I tried it in mild and medium spice level :) Their spice level is defintely on point! It was about 9:45pm and after finding out that Boiling Point closes at 11pm, I sure as heck jumped in my Jeep and headed there. I walked-in and said, "whoa." The place is small yet modern and clean. If you like Chinese rock then hell this place would be a +1 for you. Checking-in is easy, you enter your name and the number of people in your party. There are no chairs for you to sit while you wait for your number to be called so you'll either stand inside or wait outside. Ordering is easy. You pick your soup and spice level and that's it! I ordered their #4 Beef (medium spice) and hot ginger tea. My waiter was extremely nice and communicating with him was perfect. So yeah, I'm sipping on my hot ginger tea (which was fabulous by the way), look around at all the decor, and then bam! This dude plops down a box with fire on the bottom to keep my soup HOT! The broth is totally out of this world. I can't even describe it in detail but I can say that it was definitely spicy and delicious! Now Boiling Point has a location in San Jose! This location is still in soft opening as of January 2017 so the hours are slightly different. Hot pot is what everyone craves during the chillier months. It's comforting, warm, and just darn right good when you have an individual, bubbling pot right in front of you. I tried to come to this location for lunch on a weekday but was overwhelmed by the amount of people already waiting. The wait was about 45 minutes the first time I stepped by and I wasn't willing to wait due to schedule. They have a little electronic system at the front where you can enter your party number and it will print out a number for you. I came here on a Friday right before they opened though. As soon as 11 AM hit, the place filled up quickly. By the time our food came out, there was already a crowd of people congregating at the entrance. If you know, #1-7 are "smaller" portioned while #8-10 are larger portions. The larger portions also cost about $5 more compared to the smaller portions. I found the smaller portion to fill me up during lunch, although I usually like the larger portions during dinner. I ordered #4 beef at a medium spice level. I actually thought the medium spice level delivered. It wasn't extremely spicy, but wasn't mild and weak like I had thought it would have been. It actually delivered a decent kick and I found myself blowing my nose throughout the meal. I liked everything in the beef hot pot and found the broth to be decently flavorful, although I didn't really drink the broth up. During lunch they were giving complimentary green and black tea. They are slightly sweetened which made them a perfect little refreshing drink to go along with the hot pot. After your meal, they were also giving complimentary lemonade basil seed "dessert" drinks. I thought this was a nice little touch that other Boiling Points I've been to didn't offer. In my experience, Boiling Point doesn't have a great reputation for having good service. However, my time at Boiling Point showed great service. We were checked up on, asked if we needed anything more, and our fire was turned off at the appropriate time when asked. I actually felt like the service here was the best out of all the times I've been to a Boiling Point. Overall, after tip it was a bit under $18. If this location wasn't so busy, I would probably come here more often. Either that or come here a little before opening to ensure a seat right away. read more

BP's been one of my fav restaurants/hot pot in SJ for yearssss. Stopped going due to covid, but recently I've been eating here more often. Wait times are super short. Probably the best non-AYCE hot pot place I've been to. Though the wait was a bit lengthy, it was worth is since it was so cold and having hot pot to warm you up was just the best feeling. I ordered the Seafood and Tofu pot with a mild spice level. The food did not take long to come out which was perfect since my party and I were starved. The food itself was just perfect. The serving size was enough to have me feeling satisfied without overeating. The flavor of the SEAFOOD and TOFU is a 5/5. I especially enjoyed the tofu and fish fillet. I love tofu and this was the first time that I've had a fish fillet that was already part of the pot and not an add-on. Very tasty when paired the the sauce and hot chili oil provided. A friend bought their Hokkaido Milk Tea and I had a sip. It was really good with a rich flavor overall. With that sip, it made me want to buy my own because it was so good. Never expected a hot pot place to have such a good milk tea drink! Will definitely be coming back for more. read more
