I'd recommend going at night because they have grilled skewers in the evening, and they're really delicious -- I tried them when they first opened. During lunchtime, they only have fried skewers, but the malatang is also pretty good.

The yelp has not been updated, but the owners of Yami Bowl have changed. The mom and pop owners are no longer here and all the Thai food has been removed from the menu. It seems they have inherited some recipes, but the chili oil sauce has changed.

Randomly happened upon this spot on a weekend. The prices and the generous portions description caught my eye. They have Chinese/Thai/Japanese fusion food on the menu. I tried the Pad Kee Mao and Salt and Pepper Fish. I'd say the Pad Kee Mao had really good noodles, but the basil flavor was strong for me but that is totally preference. The standout for me was the fish - it was one of the best I've had in a while! I found it to be crisp on the outside, the inside super tender, and the batter ratio and flavor to be perfect. When I was there it was two guys taking the order and also cooking/prepping. They have a kiosk for ordering inside. It's located in a smallish plaza but there is a good amount of parking although with a lot of dead ends. No outside dining is available.

Missing that comfort feeling of home food, come to Yami Bowl! Came on a Saturday morning and was greeted by a really nice lady who was happy we came in. This place is the exact epitome of what you call mom and pop shop. We ordered the top seller basil fish fillet and eggplant and the pad see ew. The basil fish did not disappoint as it reminded me of what real chinese food tastes like. The pad see ew did have more of a soy sauce touch to it, but it still was very delicious. The prices are also reasonably priced which made the food even more delicious. Thank you Yami Bowl, I will definitely be returning!

Came here on afternoon with some friends got the pad Thai and crispy fish. The food quality was really good and I liked the pad Thai with their spicy sauce. Inside the service was quick and very welcoming. Would recommend!

This restaurant gives a hole in the wall type of place and I loved it. Apparently most people do takeout orders here but me and my girlfriend decided to dine in. The workers were super nice and friendly with us. This is a Thai Chinese fusion spot, so do not expect authentic Thai food here. Pad Thai (4.8/5): So delicious and such a big portion. The chicken they used were so tender and the flavor of the overall dish was great. I've had many Pad Thais from Thai restaurants and this one can compete with them. Pad See Ew (4.5/5): Tasted more like a chow fun but it was still amazing. The flavor of soy sauce was strong and the meat/broccoli were cooked perfectly. Again, great portion and I would definitely get this again.

Unassuming and tasty spot for some takeout! I highly recommend the Pad See Eaw! The noodles are on the thinner side, but the texture was perfect. Not too saucy, but a little salty and garlicky. The chicken was also super tender!!! I devoured this and will be coming back here again for sure! The staff here are super nice too!

Nice small place. Really friendly service with the wait staff. Decent food. Pad Thai: 3.5 stars. Decent flavor. Good sized shrimp. About 8 shrimp. Salt and pepper fish: 2 stars. battered fish. Taste ok with the onions and veggies but the fish itself had no "salt & pepper" fish. A little bland. Pineapple fried rice: 3.5 stars. nice wok flavor. Good size prawn. Tofu and fish in black bean sauce: 3 stars. A little bland but good size pieces of tofu and fish. May need chili sauce for flavor. Eggplant and shrimp: 4.5 stars. Perfectly cooked eggplant. Good flavors/sauce. My favorite of all the dishes we have tried.

Was craving some thai food and this spot popped up with good reviews so we decided to go give it a try for dinner. The owner was welcoming right when we walked in and gave us a table with menus. I got the thai tea and loved that it wasn't too sweet like other thai teas are. We couldn't decide between the pad thai or pad kee mao dish so we decided to get both and both were really good in their own ways! The pad thai wasn't spicy at all but she gave us some chili oil that was made in house, and it tasted so good mixed with the pad thai. The pad kee mao was already spicy enough for me and was really flavorful as well. The portions were really generous for the price and the food was really tasty as well. Will definitely be coming back to support this lovely mom and pop shop. Loved that the owner checked up on us while eating and even got us to-go boxes after without us asking. Great service and great food!

This is the literal textbook definition of a mom and pop shop. The food was affordable + good. We were looking at the menu outside of the restaurant and debating whether we wanted sushi or thai food, but the owner was the ultimate reason why we chose to dine in at this place. We were pretty much the only diners inside the restaurant at the time so it was pretty quiet, but the owner was very nice and chatted with us a lot. She showed us the fresh thai basil leaves they just got + recommended dishes + joked around with us a lot. Her customer service made our experience great. * Green Curry with Chicken - 5/5 stars. The curry was very flavorful and spicy. We asked for Thai-spicy and the intensity was perfect. The amount of chicken that went in our dish was also insane. Usually other restaurants try to skimp you on the protein, but I literally had such a difficult time finishing all the chicken LOL. * Pad Thai with Shrimp - 5/5 stars. It's just like your typical pad thai but even better with their house chili oil + the smoky aroma from stir-frying on a wok. * Thai Tea - 4/5 stars. The thai tea was a little too earthy for my taste and needed more evaporated/condensed milk, but overall was good. Overall 4.5/5 stars but I'm rounding up for the review and because the owner was so sweet. I would return to try the thai basil chicken like the owner recommended!

We always drove past this place whenever we go to HMart, Costco, and other grocery stores. Honestly, why did we not go here sooner. The prices were very affordable and for what you get it's A LOT. * pineapple fried rice - the rice was soft but not mushy. The chicken was marinated well with some sort of soy sauce like flavor. It also had a crisp to it when you chew it. They give a lot of meat to the rice! * orange chicken - from the photo, they give half the plate filled with chicken. The orange marinate was not too salty nor overly sweet. The chicken itself had a small crisp and inside was very juicy. * chicken potstickers (not pictured) - whatever dipping sauce we got, that was so yummy. It was sweet and salty with some sesame like flavoring. The potsticker itself was like every potsticker, can't go wrong. Overall, this place is a hidden gem! We would be definitely come back here to try what the owner recommended us! She recommended the eggplant and shrimp in basil sauce and the pad kee Mao.

We read other people's review and decided to give this place a try. It's amazingly good!! It already smells too good in the trunk on the way home. Portion size is great, flavor is great. Now just regret I haven't try it earlier. The boss is very nice and friendly, showed me my food before I take it making sure everything is correct. This will be my go to place from now on. Note: the pictures are not showing the full portion, we couldn't wait to eat right away after open the boxes, and then I decided to give it a review during eating.

The Chinese sausage pieces sprinkled throughout added extra flavor too. The bowl is deep so there seemed to be roughly 5 cups of rice. Unfortunately the laksa shrimp fried rice was disappointing in comparison. It didn't have much flavor overall - better than plain rice but definitely needed more seasoning. The menu lists homemade laksa sauce as an ingredient but we didn't taste that, and the dish wasn't spicy at all either despite the 1 chili pepper rating. But it looked just like the menu picture so maybe the description is wrong. Fried chicken with tom yum sauce came with 6 pieces. Very juicy. We also enjoyed the herbal roasted prime steak with sausage rice. The delicious rice had the taste of fish sauce. Most of the short rib slices were soft and a few were slightly chewy but overall decent quality. Some of the fattier pieces of meat were still attached to the bone.

I came here on a Friday evening with my friend to grab dinner around 6:00 PM. The wait was around an hour, so be very prepared if you're coming during the dinner rush. This spot is located where the majority of the Asian restaurants are in Milpitas, so it's safe to say the parking can get a bit hectic and intense. The interior of the place is very bright, modern, and clean. There is a lot of seating for a small space, but the reason they are so busy has a lot to do with the number of people wanting to check this spot out. When you sit down, you scan their virtual menu via QR code and order there instead of through a server. You have the choice to order on one phone as a group or separately. Between my friend and me, we ordered a beef mint salad, fried tofu, confit mushrooms, and truffle mushroom rice. I will say that when we first got the fried tofu and confit mushrooms, we were quite surprised by the small portions compared to the price. That said, they were delicious, but skippable if you're trying to find the best bang for your buck. What I absolutely would recommend is their truffle mushroom fried rice. This might have been my best bite this month. It was so savory, the mushrooms hit perfectly, and the coating of butter on the rice was supreme. It was $28 for a bowl, but it was a good value to split between two people. Overall, this place had great, fast service (our food came out in under 10 minutes), a nice ambiance, and fresh, flavorful food.

Final Thoughts: 4.33/5…read more They were our caterer for a work party. This is a food truck and they seem to have everything ready to be served to us. Asian fusion foods are typically my go-to choice and so I was very excited that they were providing us food today. Food: Garlic Fried Chicken Bowl: 4.3/5 The sauce on this is divine with the chicken. It's like an unagi sauce with garlic in it. It has some saltiness, sweetness, and that umami flavor. Garlic taste and scent is present, but not too overpowering, which I really enjoyed. That flavor is great, but some places really overdo it for me. Just a personal preference though. For the chicken itself, it's very tender and juicy on the inside and still has some of that nice crunch on the outside. Perhaps this is because the cut of meat is the chicken thigh. It's not super crispy because I don't believe this is being fried to order for us. Seems to be food held in a warmer until its ordered. Kimchi was the side that they had provided with this dish and I am here for that. Some people aren't the biggest fan of this and I saw that from the looks my coworkers gave it. Personally, very much enjoyed it though. That sourness and spice from the kimchi just balances out this bowl really well. The veggies are nice and crispy. Gives it that freshness. Also, very slight detail and addition, but I always enjoy the sesame seeds and furikake sprinkle as a garnish. There's a nice nuttiness to it that they provide as a simple garnish. Spicy Tuna Poké: 4.0/5 This item was alright. The flavor was also really good, but I did get tired of eating just one type of poke protein. Typically when I go to get poke, it's 2 to 3 scoops of different proteins with various sauces to change up the flavor. I did get tired of this one after a few bites. The flavor of this item was very good though. There's a nice kick from it and the flavor tastes like a mix of kewpie mayo, soy sauce, sriracha, and sugar. Very simple, but you can't go wrong with those flavors. For the side, they added seaweed salad. Again, not your average side dish. Personally, I enjoyed it, but it might not be a common or familiar side dish for other individuals. It has a nice sweetness and nuttiness to it. For texture, there's a nice bite to it, which is ncie since the tuna is very soft and doesn't contribute much to the texture component. Menu: Small Their menu seems quite limited, but again, that is normal for a food truck, I believe. The items they provide do it just fine for me. I appreciate that they also have an option for the vegetarians. The menu we were provided was limited to 4 items, which is fine since the scale of this party wasn't anything too wild and we were able to satisfy everyone with what they provided. --------- Quality: Alright The quality of the food seems OK. It came out within a few minutes for us and I don't think it takes just a few minutes to fry that piece of chicken. I could be wrong though, so no one quote me on that. Just an observation. Not the highest expectations because their limited to the space and area in general. The product they provide is very good though. Overall, for something that has raw seafood in it, it seemed quite fresh and tasty. The items aren't made to order either and it's more assemble and serve to order, but again, they seem to be making it work with the product that they are selling. Price: Estimated Because this was a catering event, I am actually unaware of how much my administrator paid for the food. What I know is that she paid for a certain amount of bowls. From the looks of this item though, I want to estimate the price of each bowl being around $16 to $20 depending on the food item provided. Seems quite average for a bowl of food these days. Service: Quick and fast Because most of the food is already prepared and ready, the interaction with them itself is very limited. They took our order and provided us with the food. Nothing too significant to note and that is to be expected with the food truck. They were very sweet though and explained the menu items to be when I had a question. Ambiance: Simple and cute food truck The design on their food truck is so cute. The riceball is my favorite because it has this very cute face and just looks darling to me. The outside has a simple design with the name and logo on top and then perhaps some of the food items they provide written on the bottom section of the truck. Doesn't seem like anything too fancy, but simplicity is best for me. Location/Parking: Wherever they travel and navigate to Because they're a food truck, they can drive to you, which is really convenient. On Yelp, it states that their located on 36 Commercial Street in downtown, which might be where their truck is serving most of the time. Again, it is a food truck though, so they have the ability to drive to you and travel around to their customers, which is quite convenient is reaching a broader group of people.

If you're looking for a catering food truck for a small lunch window that delivers high quality and very quick service, I HIGHLY recommend Fire and Rice. Their Hawaiian Asian fusion menu is unique and stands out compared to other Asian or poke trucks I've tried. The garlic shoyu chicken and tuna poke were my personal favorites. I tried some of my coworkers garlic shrimp & Miso tofu too...surprisingly pretty GOOD! With inflation being what it is, their food is absolutely worth the price, and they were also flexible and willing to work within our reasonable budget. I can't recommend them enough. I suggest texting or emailing Micah or Jessica for the quickest response, as they're often busy on the truck or during service.

The dishes were well-prepared, flavorful, and thoughtfully presented. The overall ambiance was also enjoyable, making it a nice spot for a dinner out. Unfortunately, the experience took a concerning turn at the end of the meal. Our bill came out to $86.42, and I handed my credit card to the waiter. Within seconds (thanks to my card alerts), I received a notification that $103.92 had been charged. When the waiter returned with the receipt, there was no mention of any discrepancy. After waiting a few minutes to see if it would be addressed, I brought it up myself. The waiter appeared flustered and then claimed he had accidentally charged me for someone else's food. That explanation didn't align with the itemized bill I was given, which made the situation feel questionable. He assured me that it would be corrected and that I should see the adjustment in a few days, which I'll be watching closely. Mistakes can happen, but the lack of transparency and the fact that it wasn't proactively disclosed is what left a bad impression. Being overcharged without explanation -- and having to catch it myself -- is not something I expect when dining out. I'd consider coming back for the food, but I'd definitely be more cautious when it comes to the bill.

The dude and I came to Nomikai on 08/16/25 as we were in town for Galaxy Con. We entered in with…read moreour costumes. I was the black sailor moon. And he showed up as the Dude-Vader. Originally we had opted to go to a vegetarian restaurant but they stopped selling food at a certain time and we were hungry. We kept walking and stumbled upon Nomikai. We entered around 9pm and was seated immediately. The food closed soon and we got our order in during happy hour. We were impressed. The service was absolutely amazing and staff / patrons enjoyed our fit. The cocktails are beautifully crafted. Delicious yummy! As a cocktail enthusiast I had no complaints just keep them coming! The dude enjoyed his cocktail as well. We didn't drive so we overindulge because we can! At a certain point this establishment turns into a club more than restaurant and the line was out the door by 11pm. We did try the Brussel sprouts which was delicious and wished we would have tried more food but we were stuffed. They had great music, loved the decor and glad we stumbled upon this place! Can't wait to come back!

Checking another downtown bar off my list!…read more This is a Japanese-fushion bar with very interesting drinks. My drink contained gin, sake, black sesame, coconut milk, and orange blossom water. It ended up being sweeter than I expected but it was balanced with a strong nutty tone from the sesame and was overall a unique drink! My friends drink with sparkling wine and lemon was a little less interesting. We ordered the nori fries to share which came in a generous portion. My friend ordered the sausage and pepperoni pizza with Thai basil, which was a fun twist on a traditional Italian flavor. Unfortunately the 5 spiced duck pizza was not it - the duck was cut so small you could barely taste it and it was drenched in a way too sweet sauce that made it sickening. Logistics: - indoor seating only - Limited street parking nearby but close to light rail and several paid public garages - Only open Wednesday through Saturday - Happy hour until 9pm ($9 selected drinks and 20% off apps)
