Brisket Deluxe Snail Rice Noodles
Nick C.

Although ethnic food is everywhere in the Bay area these days, most restaurants play it safe and offer dishes with broad appeal, such that one rarely feels transported to a different country. It's not much like Anthony Bourdain. Eat at Lo Si Ding, however, and you will be transported into the deep jungles of Guangxi province, China. The sweet broth of the river snails (whose flesh you can pick out using the provided toothpicks) is mixed with a ferocious red spice, with which you wash down a variety of fermented vegetables and beans, fungi, Chinese sausage, quail eggs, rice noodles, and herbs. Then there is a crispy egg pancake that seems to be almost entirely oil. It is my opinion that there is no other restaurant in this area that is quite so authentically foreign as this one. Finally, you can take out the fermented bamboo shoots (whose characteristic smell is the chemical compound "skatole", the etymology of which is exactly what it sounds like). I highly recommend you do so.

So delicious so yummy! It is really hard to find such good Chinese restaurant in Bay Area.

I am still full thinking about this 12:30 I hit the spot - ordered at the kiosk with luckily a seat open. You do need a table number if you're dining in because the kiosk will ask where you're sitting. Just a heads up Ordered the tiger skin chicken feet with fried egg and fried intestine along with the Lemon drink. It was maybe 10-15 minutes to get my food . It was gigantic. I ate for literally 45 minutes non-stop and I still had too much left ‍ it was so hot and spicy and I think I only got the medium spicy any more spicy then I cannot handle it so I just want to warn you . Don't be too ambitious they have water that you can get yourself so make sure you grab that as well. The egg was so cool - it's not the way you think of fried egg it's so light and fluffy. The pork intestines was also super delicious I'm happy to have orders extra things. Yet I didn't finish The tomato base was really nice I help the soup not to be salty. All the toppings are also quite balanced with veggies and crispy bits. Now the drink was fine it's not sweet. But it's also not amazing. However they have tohua - a sweet tofu dessert that I didn't try yet but I have had sweet tofu at dim sum spot so I have extremely high hope that I would enjoy that. Next time for sure. I will likely get to go next time and split one bowl into 2-3 meals The line was getting quite long when I left so aim for an earlier lunch if you prefer not to wait. Not much to service - you order your own food and the server bring out the food and clean the table. There's only one server and many chef in the kitchen. The server will also go out to help with check in when the line build up. Just be willing to wait. It's so worth it though.

Crazy to think that there was a restaurant that opened up for Lousifen in downtown San Jose. I always eat the instant ones and so surprised and shocked to see that one open to close to me! Went right before they had their afternoon close around 1:40PM and the place was packed! Granted it was a small space but there were many people shuffling in and out which made the wait go by faster. You order through a Kiosk and get a table number assigned by the host/hostess. They bring you waters and utensils once ordering. The wait was a bit longer than anticipated but well worth the wait! The noodles itself was definitely a treat as it was jam packed with flavor and you get all fresh ingredients! The portion was also super big, we got two bowls but we could've definitely shared one. Overall, I enjoyed this place and the authenticity and will be one of my favorite spots to go to especially in the winter!

I've never had snail noodles at a restaurant! Only the instant ones which still take 30 mins to make so I was so excited to try this! You sit down somewhere and order at the kiosk. The food came out pretty fast and the noodles blew me away! I shared the tiger skin pork trotter noodles with my boyfriend but we'll def be ordering our own next time! The appetizers were alright I want to try the fried egg next time.. I like how they come around and pass out bibs and offer free broth and seasonings if needed. For dessert I ordered the red mean tofu hua and it was very refreshing! They were really generous with the red bean. The tofu hua was a little different than what I'm used to it wasn't as rich. Almost a bit like almond jelly texture? Anyway I'm so excited to come back my boyfriend and I loved this place!

Parking lot on the smaller side but there is street parking if it becomes full. Ordering was done with tablet and the worker brings your order to the table number you choose. The crispy egg was a novel experience but I would personally skip it. While crunchy, is is rather oily and has no taste of its own. Similar to fried tofu skin. The noodle has a nice chew, very long strands and bouncy. The broth has a strong aroma and was tasty, although people not accustomed to these flavors might be turned off due to the strong smell. I liked the variety of textures in the bowl from the chewy tofu skin, firm quail eggs, and crunchy vegetables. I would come here again.

I am obsessed with luosifen and this place makes it SOOOOOO WELL. I highly recommend getting the Crispy Fried Egg Luosi Rice Noodle or the Deluxe version if you want a little bit of everything! The Tiger-skin Pork Trotters are yummy, but not a must. They do not skimp on the ingredients though! So much snail, pickled veggies, and noodles. The broth is so flavorful and a little oily. Not too salty. Sosososo tasty! Minimal seating inside, so expect to come with a small group (4 people max). There's only 5 small tables and a bar with maybe 5-6 seats. Parking in this plaza is easy, but a little sketchy.

This was my first time trying river snail noodles, but I saw it online and as a noodle soup lover I wanted to try it out! Overall the food was pretty good, service is easy because it's through a kiosk. When I got the food, there was a distinct pungent smell that took me a bit to get used to, but that comes with a lot of traditional Asian dishes in general. If you can get over the smell, the taste is still solid- savory and spicy. The omelet fry was delicious! I got one to share with my friend but should've just gotten one for myself.

This used to be milk tea lab. Interior is still similar. I think they sell their drinks still, didn't get it though. Parking lot is small. Gets pretty busy/not much seating. You order through the kiosk and get a number and wait at your table and they will bring your food to you. Items I ordered: - Deluxe Lousi Rice Noodles (mild) : The pork trotter was a bit overly braised for me. It was more like chicken feet that you get at dim sum. Bf liked it that way though. - Braied Beef Brisket Luosi Rice Noodles (mild) + added crispy fried egg : Wanted to get the tomato, but it was unavail at time. Beef a lil tough. Both noodles taste and portions were good. I recommend adding that vinegar. Flavors were strong. Couldn't really tell the fried egg was egg though. - Cucumber : Nice and refreshing change from the hot noodles

Authentic place serving luosifen, albeit the location and plaza isn't the best (which explains lower foot traffic amongst the targeted demographic). Parking can be a bit tight at peak times as well. For those uninitiated, luosife is a Guangxi province specialty, specializing in noodles with sea snails. Although the plaza may look a little run down, the interior of this shop is pristine. You order at a kiosk and the staff brings the food to you, so like half service. I ordered the Luosi Rice Noodle deluxe and a tomato beef brisket noodle. If you're here for the luosi, their luosi noodles are pretty stinky and authentic with a plethora of sea snails. The fried egg is also a local specialty in guangxi, and it's really good and worth ordering too. Their broths run on the spicy side but are very very good. This place is mainly setup as a small to go shop or just for quick meal with their row of barstools and only a few tables that sit up to 4 people. Clean atmosphere, nice and quick service with yummy noodles, and fair pricing!

Pork feet combo (and fried egg that comes with with it)

Four star for the food and one extra star for the exceptional staff and service! I came in on a random Friday for lunch. I have always been a LuoSiFen fan and regularly cook it at home. Decided to give this place a try. I went with the pork feet combo which has pretty much everything in it. I ordered medium spicy which is appropriate (not too spicy but enough kick for me). I think you will enjoy a bowl of LioSiFen like this with everything. I wish there's more of everything lol if I have to nitpick. The presence of 螺肉 whelk meat is a pleasant surprise. No specific ingredient stood out, but nothing to fault either. I'd like to give a shoutout to the staff and service here. Typically for a chinese fastfood stand like this I dont expect much service (not bad but minimal). But here the receptionist would bring me water before my food is ready, and refills when the cup is not even half empty. Whats more, after I finished eating, since I had nowhere to go just yet, I decided to stay and use my laptop. Not only was I welcomed, I got served another cup of water. I think such good service will eventually earn them good business.

Braised Beef shank + Brisket deluxe lo si rice noodle (comes with crispy fried egg)

Rainy evening and decided to try out this new restaurant serving snail noodles. Bright but Tiny little spot with about 8 tables and self order through the kiosk. We ordered Braised Beef shank + Brisket deluxe lo si rice noodle (comes with crispy fried egg) + soda. Food was served fairly quick and you can add extra flavor free of charge. We requested for extra spicy + soup and the worker quickly delivered. we ate about half took the rest home. Would come back to try more items

This place serves real river snail noodles, the kind you'd find in Liuzhou, full of depth and that unmistakable umami aroma. The broth is rich, flavorful, and truly unique -- you can tell they're not holding back on the authentic ingredients. The setup is super easy and convenient with a self-serve payment counter, which makes the experience relaxed and quick. I also tried their Sichuan pepper fries -- crispy, numbing, and addictively spicy. They've got a ton of other authentic Chinese dishes, so it's perfect if you want to explore beyond the usual takeout fare. Highly recommend this spot if you're craving something bold, spicy, and authentically Chinese. It's rare to find river snail noodles this good outside of China!

Other than a few items coming out less than warm, (and yes I'm not talking about the items that come out cold already) all of us really enjoyed everything! Big problem though, the service. Waiter is very much not attentive to anyone. Doesn't look customers in the eye, provides minimal service, hell, we had to ask the support staff to bring us chopsticks for food we had delivered to us 10 minutes ago, which grew cold. He never checked in on us, and we were charged 20% gratuity since we were 12 people. I don't mind auto-gratuity, but when the service is nonexistent, it really doesn't sit well. Overall it was a good experience, but the service is the deciding factor of anyone one of us 12 returning. Really unfortunate service from our waiter, other support staff seemed really nice, but he wasn't in charge of taking care of us, sadly. We were thoroughly ignored. Again, food was good, but service was so poor that this review is mainly negative. Edit: to top is off, delivered the wrong food twice, we cancelled our pork belly buns because they took too long/he ordered mala buns for us instead. Another addition: charged us twice for sea salt cream that we didn't order, and tried to say that we did order it.

We also ordered the crab rangoons, which unfortunately aren't pictured. They were perfectly cooked with a crispy, golden exterior and a light, creamy filling inside. We typically place our order over the phone and pick it up ourselves. The food is usually ready within 15-20 minutes and always tastes fresh and made to order. While there aren't many people dining inside the restaurant, don't let that fool you into thinking the food isn't good. This place is a local gem that seems to do a lot of takeout business.
