The portions are huge and perfect for sharing. There were 3 of us, and we ordered the Golden Sour & Spicy Fish Soup (basa, small) and the Golden Sour & Spicy Beef Soup (large). The small comes with 1 bowl of rice, and the large comes with 2, which was plenty of food. As someone who loves anything sour, this place really hit the spot. The broth has the perfect balance of sour and spicy, with a slight numbing sensation from the peppercorns that makes it so addictive. I also love that you can customize the toppings in your soup. I highly recommend the sweet potato glass noodles. They're super chewy and soak up all the flavor. Both soups were delicious, but the beef soup was my favorite because the broth was even more sour. Also rated as top 3. Lemongrass chicken stir fry. Very tasty flavors with some spice, but the bones, limited chicken, and extra salty/oily flavors hurt the full potential for me. This is their #2 dish. Yellow base fish soup. Good flavors and decent amount of fish but a bit oily. French fries. Like McDonald's but extra saltyyyy. Lotus flower dish. I enjoyed this a lots. Came here specifically craving sour soup, which is not yet super popular chinese dish. They're well known for their sauerkraut-based sour soup, and it sour enough for my tastes. Unless your little ones can eat spicy, this might be a challenge for young families. Sichuan cooking is an acquired taste. I may not be the best reviewer for this. Food (3.5 stars) + Sichuan pepper fish soup (green) is on the sour side and has the numbing sensation effect that I think is an acquired taste. Their medium order looks huge but it's not that big since the bowl is not deep. Fish was a little fishy. + Chicken in chili oil is generous in portion for a side dish. It looks spicy but it's not as spicy as it looks. - Farmhouse boiling duck has really good flavors but the duck was too bony. It was difficult to eat because of the bones. It's very spicy in a good way. - Cucumbers has too much garlic. And this is coming from someone who loves garlic. Wei's is my go-to and I wanted to compare the two. Wei's packaging feels more premium and the soup has more flavor and less oil. I also felt like Wei's gives a bit more food. On the other hand, Seven Fish is in a more convenient location, has easier parking, and is slightly cheaper. They also offer enoki, which is one of my favorites! Seven Fish's soup is more yellow and there is a layer of oil on top. It has red chilis and peppercorns, but it's barely spicy (which is a plus for me). Seven Fish Cuisine may be my first experience with Chinese fish soups, but they certainly set the bar high because this place is excellent. We've already been back three times in the matter of a few weeks and if it was closer to our house that number may have been even higher. Their number one - biggest picture on the menu - dish is the Golden Sour and Spicy Fish Soup which is really unlike anything I've had before. It, along with quite a number of dishes on the menu, leans heavily into Sichuan peppercorn so be prepared to have a numb tongue but the overall flavor is excellent, balancing nicely the spice with the tang and the fish is cooked to perfection, free from bones as well which is always a plus. One of the things that really makes the soup a great dish is the customizability. There is a list of 8-10 potential add-ins including things like tofu, wood ear mushrooms, bean curd strips, etc. For a large soup you get to pick four add-ins for free, and for a small soup you get two. They obviously specialize in fish soups, but they have a number of other dishes including beef soups and other stir-fried dry dishes including pork chops and lemongrass chicken, both of which I can vouch for though be prepared to eat around a lot of bones, especially for the lemon pepper chicken which proved challenging given how small the pieces were cut. On top of being delicious, Seven Fish Cuisine is honestly quite a good deal. The large soups are huge and at under $30 a piece, quite reasonably priced for something that serves 2-3 people. We first came here with another family and we were both pleasantly surprised at the value when it came time to split the bill. Far from standing alone, according the signage on the wall Seven Fish is actually part of a multi-national chain of restaurants with over 500 locations in 200 cities around the world. I guess you don't get that big without doing something right and I can certainly see it because this place is great! read more

The waitress even gave us spicy powder on the side just because we were inquiring about whether or not there's a spicy version for the beef soup. We got the two dishes that was marked #1 recommended (one fish + one beef). The beef soup was very good/flavorful so we didn't add spicy powder. The waiter is also observant - he knew that we wanted a refill of the rice before we even said anything. Portion size was pretty big. We got two small, but that was enough to be 5 individual meals (with rice/noodle added). I liked how diverse their menu option is. There are plenty of non-fish item for those who were curious. They also have different soup options available. This was the first restaurant in the Bay Area that I saw offering unlimited noodle refills (for dine in only). We drove all the way to south San Jose (40 min because we were up north) to find out the restaurant we wanted was closing earlier than the time stated, so we had to made some last minute pivot. We arrived here around 3pm, and while the restaurant wasn't full, they were still pretty busy. I don't think there's every a place where I can go 10 times a month, but Seven Fish is it. I was hesitant at once to try this place, but my fiancee kept insisting so we finally did. Since the first time I went, we've been back 10+ times, at least once a week for the past 5+ weeks. Sometimes there's a short wait, but we've always been seated in no more than 5 minutes. You can literally go wrong with nothing on the menu. There is something for everyone. We've tried quite a few things already, but I will talk about a few of our favorites. 1. The whole fish with black bean. This is absolutely my favorite dish here. You get an entire fried fish, on a hot stove plate, covered with chili oil sauce, black bean, and your choice of toppings. We go with tofu, cabbage, noodles and mushrooms. This dish is THE BEST. The fish is so tender, combined with the flavor of the sauce and toppings, you get a beautiful dish. It does come out piping hot on the stove, so be careful. This dish is enough for 2-3 people, and goes great with white rice. (Unlimited rice btw) 2. The beef spicy mix and sichuan chicken. Both dishes are great compliments to the soups and other dishes. They both come cold, with spicy chili oil sauce. The meats are tender and packed with flavor, goes great with rice as well! 3. The speciality pork chop and stir fried beef. WOW. Both dishes are delicious! The pork chop is chopped to perfection, mixed with greens and chili peppers. The beef also comes with veggies. HIGHLY recommend either or both! These are only 3 of the many dishes we've tried. I got to admit, what ever fish they use for any of the dishes, it's my favorite type of fish. But that wasn't the case, it has been open for at least six months. My mom and I got for the Top No 1 dish recommended on the menu. Le Shan Classic Beef Soup and Golden Sour and Spicy Fish soup. I requested for mild for the Golden Sour and Spicy Fish soup with winter melon and tofu bean curd as my two choices for the sides that comes the meal that is added to your soup.
