A typical malatang place with a good selection of ingredients, we shared the buckwheat noodles, it's good. The highlight is their curry laksa broth, it is rich and creamy flavorful. I also tried their dry-style Sichuan mala mix. It was served on a hot plate, quite a choice. We arrived late around 9 pm on a weekday night, the staff was still very welcoming and happy to serve us.

Came after the gym on a Wednesday night. The parking gets a bit tough around 6pm as the lot is shared with the gym and many other local businesses. The service is quite good as you are greeted and asked how many and assigned a table. Inside is a bit cramped but it is a bit of a smaller space. The selection of ingredients is nice because they offer things that other Mala tang places do not like various tofus and some vegetables. I got the medium spice bone broth and it does have quite a kick if you prefer less spicy I would def suggest the mild. The price can be a bit high if you're not paying attention as they weigh your bowl after you picked all your ingredients. They have a sauce bar that offers the usual Mala tang sauces. As it was not too busy the food came out quite fast and kept its heat really well.

Parking in this plaza can be hit or miss depending on the time but we went on Wednesday around 7:45PM and didn't have that much difficulty finding parking. Me and my family like the meat here but we do prefer the broths at this other malatang place instead (mainly cause I can't handle any heat and even the mild bone broth had a kick to it so I was internally dying ). Service was friendly and quick since it wasn't that crowded for a weekday with about 1 hour before closing. Ambiance was nice, it wasn't too loud but definitely not a place for huge groups in my personal opinion due to the layout.

Solid malatang place! It's smaller and more minimal than others in the area, but still a great option to scratch the malatang itch. The bone broth is so delicious and flavorful, but definitely sodium-heavy. Their ingredient selection is decent, though I've seen larger in other spots in South Bay. They only had seafood and beef, no pork or lamb. They also didn't have too much offal like duck blood, intestine, etc. The sauce bar was also quite minimal - no shacha or sesame oil. I paid $32 for a 1.8 lb bowl. Very clean inside. Service was very quick and the food was ready within around 10 minutes. Parking in the lot can be a little tough when it's the City Sports' gym rush hours like weekday dinner.

I came here for lunch on a Saturday because I've been on a Malatang binge lately and have been looking to try out all of the various places to be able to choose a favorite to attend. I feel like this place is very comparable to the other "major" players - malatown & YGF. This place is definitely less busy than those locations which is a huge plus in my mind. I'm really glad that this location has more options than just the bone broths because I'm more of a fan of the Sichuan broth because I feel like that one is generally more light and spicy. There's a sauce bar but it's one of the more sad ones but they do have the essential chili oil, green onion, sesame sauce & garlic, I was hoping for some Sichuan oil. This is also the first malatang place that I've gone to where the plate that you gather your ingredients in is a tray rather than a bowl which isn't a bad thing, just different. I also appreciate the fact that their calamari isn't frozen. ~~Parking: Plenty of parking, but the parking lot can get quite busy! The restaurant is located in the corner closer to Oakland & Brokaw. ~~Service: Good. You're told where to sit upon entering and they provide you with your bowl once the food's been cooked. I like how they provide you with a pitcher of water compared to the other places where you need to go refill your own water at a dispenser or hail an employee for more water. ~~Best Part: The fact that this place isn't as busy as other malatang locations & the water pitcher. ~~Worst Part: No lobster balls lol. I'm not sure if they just never have them or if they rotate through their selection since this was my first time coming. ~~Tips: Don't be afraid to try this place! ~~Return: YES!

Not too busy on a Thursday evening. My party of 6 was able to get seated together right away. Interior is clean. They have a good amount of topping and noodle options, more than a few other malatang spots I've been to. I got the signature bone broth (mild spiciness level) for my udon, wagyu beef, quail eggs, tofu, veggies, imitation crab, fish roe balls, bean curd roll, etc. It's easy to overload your bowl since everything looks so tempting. My bowl ended up being around 1.6 lbs and was ~$28. Would come back to try the sesame & peanut dry mix.

My #1 malatang spot! I've been recommending miss gu to everyone I know because they really do deserve all the love. The store is spacious and clean. The staff is always nice and friendly. The parking lot is honestly kind of a nightmare since so many businesses are packed into that plaza but worth it for miss gu. Their classic bone broth is incredibly flavorful and tasty. The range of ingredients are diverse and fresh. I also think it's very thoughtful that they cut veggies to smaller sizes and put fried items in right before serving. We mostly eat there but when we did order to-go, everything was packed separately and neatly. 5/5 i don't have a bad thing to say about miss gu :) high recommend!!

I appreciate that there's a dry sauce option if you're not in a heavy soup mood!! I got the sesame and peanut option! it was delicious!!! as a peanut butter and dry noodle lover, i loved it!! the staff was nice. the ambiance was warm and inviting especially with the sunshine yellow decor. we went on a weekday but it still got pretty busy during lunchtime

First time at Miss Gu Malatang and it was a refreshing change from all the other hot pot places nearby. Miss Gu has more vegetable options than most of their competitors, along with a consolidated soup menu of traditional flavors. Most people order the Signature Bone Broth or the Sichuan Mini Spicy Hotpot, which is their most mala spicy flavor. Both broths are much cleaner and less oily and salty than YGF or Malatown, which seems to cater more to the traditional Chinese palate instead of the Asian American one. Some groups also choose to split a bowl of hot pot with a side of rice, which is an option for those who are less hungry. I tried the bone broth this time but will be back to try the Sichuan Spicy broth.

I came here with my wife and sister-in-law for the first time. Like most malatang places, the signs were helpful and informative. You pick your ingredients, weigh your bowl, choose your broth, and they bring your bowl to the back kitchen. The wait time for our food wasn't long, possibly 5 minutes, since we came at 5:30 PM on a weekday. One thing that was off was when I got my bowl, there were items that I did not put in my bowl. They were actually what my sister-in-law picked out for her bowl. Not that big of an issue, but something to mention. Overall, the broth was good. Everything was cooked thoroughly, and service was excellent.

When my partner first suggested this place as a chance alternative, I was a bit apprehensive..as my favorite hotpot spot (as mentioned in another review of mine) is Tasty Pot on Story Rd. But dang did this place pleasantly surprise me. This restaurant is nestled between a strip of other seemingly enticing restaurants and food places in a plaza on Brokaw. Another must-visit spot for non-locals coming to visit, if you ask me. They have outdoor seating too, but that night was chillier than a polar bear's butt so we opted to sit indoors. When you first walk in, the place is small and a bit crowded, but the entire process of picking out the little meat, veggie, and carb additions were so easy. They even had options that I had been wanting to try in a pot for so long. Checkout was fast and prices were pretty reasonable- but it honestly just depends on the weight of your pot. They let you choose your broth flavor, spice level, and they even offer dry malatang too. I got the spiciest level of broth, forgot what the name was called (I am very bad with names in general. SUE ME! LMAO) but I have been dying to go back to try the dry malatang. My food was delicious!!! They have an adorable little sauce bar too. The cashier ringing up our food was so cute lolll, very sweet and upbeat! 10/10 visit overall, and 10/10 would recommend.

Their toppings had a lot of variety but the meat selection was pretty basic. I got the bone beef broth and it was pretty flavorful but it was more on the oilier side.

The best Malatang spot in Sj! I found this place through Tiktok and wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was because I was never a big fan of malatang. This place is very clean, organized, with no wait time. The concept is very clear and the workers will explain it to you as well if you are a first timer. You just grab some tongs and bowl and throw everything that looks good to you inside. They charge about $15 per pound which is cheaper than most spots around the area. My favorite add ons included the tripe, enoki mushroom, bean curd, quail eggs, and their meat selections. Meat quality is very good and is the perfect cut. Not too thin and not too thick. My favorite part about this spot is their delicious bone broth with mild spice. It tastes so clean and has the perfect amount of flavor without numbing your mouth like most malatang spots do. Two bowls and a drink totaling to about $33. Came here two days in a row because it was so yummy and will continue to come back!

They have one long communal table as well as some private tables. We were seated immediately upon arrival at the communal table. To order, scan the QR code and select what you want. I was interested in getting their wagyu beef mixian, but $26 seemed a bit pricy for a bowl of noodles, so I went with their regular beef mixian for $16. You can get extra noodles for free, so I went ahead and added that. It was very easy to order, plus I appreciate that you can customize whether you want spicy broth or non-spicy. I was very happy with my bowl of noodles. It came with a generous amount of beef and ground pork, more than enough to go with my two servings of noodles. The broth was also very tasty and the noodles super smooth and silky. I really enjoyed my meal here. They are also very kid friendly. My friend ordered the free kids meal for his kid. It's available for kids up to 6 years old and comes with a generous serving of noodles and sides. Would highly recommend this place for families and adults alike!

We then shared the signature Wagyu big bus and wife got the spicy beef miishien soup. The signature broth was creamy, milky and so delicious! The kids loved the noodles and flavors. Wife's beef noodle soup was good, she did enjoy our broth more. We will make this a regular stop for good food especially with the upcoming cooler months!

I get the jajangmyeon ($10.95 for a small) every time, mostly because the noodle texture is TOP TIER. The noodles are thick, chewy, and springy, and they pair really well with the jajang (black bean) sauce. There are also plenty of ingredients mixed into the sauce, although I find it a little salty sometimes. The tangsuyuk (sweet & sour pork, $15.95) is super crispy, and I really liked the tangy sauce with it. I personally prefer dipping the pieces in the sauce so they stay crispy, but you can also pour the sauce over if that's your preference! The restaurant can get pretty busy on weekend evenings, with waits usually around 10-30 minutes. There's plaza parking available nearby. The noodles for both dishes have a pleasantly chewy bounce to them. They are thick, satisfying, and cooked perfectly right. The Jajangmyeon's black bean sauce was savory with a touch of sweetness and contains peas, onions, and pork. The Jjamppong has a spicy seafood broth with squid, mussels, pork, and veggies. Every meal comes with pickled yellow radish on the side to help cut through the richness of the meal. Service is not what you come here for. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated and a part of that was because they skipped our name on the waitlist. They claimed they called it, but we were standing less than 15 feet away from the front door and never heard a thing. The music the restaurant was playing outside didn't help. Once sat inside, it is a turn-and-burn operation. Food is ordered, dropped off, payment is collected, and nothing more. Again, don't go here for the service, go for the noodles. The atmosphere is casual and bit cramped. It has a cafeteria-like feel inside and can get a little noisy. Parking can be tricky especially when busy since they share a small parking lot with neighboring businesses. Bottomline, Paik's Noodle is good for a quick and solid bite but that's about it.
