Ventured out here this morning to have breakfast with my friend. The photos on Yelp definitely caught my eye! But sad to say that the pictures didn't live up to the taste. We ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon, avocado toast, and cold brew coffee. Food was pricey, we paid about $30 in entirety. These are my thoughts on this place... The burrito was underwhelming. Maybe I'm just used to the greasy breakfast burritos bursting with flavor. Even after with hot sauce, didn't improve much. It was probably supposed to be a "healthy" burrito, but it didn't do anything for my taste buds. I felt like it was just average. The avocado toast wasn't what I expected either. Bread was on the hard side and I wasn't feeling the paprika seeds on top. I thought that everything tastes better with an egg on top, but not in this case. Nice space, however. Plenty of room, definitely bigger than what I thought judging by the outside. Metered parking is available on the street. The decor was trendy, and definitely had a cool hipster vibe. People were friendly. There are other interesting menu items to try, and I will be back someday to try the infamous homemade Twix! There's very little NOT to like about Bolt. It's roomy and personable. Lots of table space and high ceilings. Service - friendly. Baked goods - homemade and tasty. I think the technical term is scrummy-yummy. They even have a big-assed gay flag outside, which had me thinking this was a gay place. I'm still not absolutely sure if it is or it's not, as a matter of fact, though I suspect not, because a gay place would have certain extra chi-chi touches, and Bolt is actually quite butch. Not roadside trucker café butch; more nuts and bolts butch. Classily so. And a worthy addition to the EaHo coffee scene. The 'EaHo' is on the sign outside, btw. I didn't know WeHo had a companion out east. This is the first time I've ever heard East Hollywood called that. Perhaps they're hoping to start something. But gay or not, this is a cool, young crowd. Tattoos, dyed hair, painted nails. The women too. I tried painting mine once, but my fingernails are the size of teaspoons, it looked ridiculous. So I'm destined to stand out horribly in these places. One gripe: the restroom. They need to check this occasionally. The dispenser was out of towels when I went in and the floor was strewn with paper. Okay for a frat house, less so for a café, especially in glamorous EaHo. But I'm niggling. Bolt is a place I'd happily revisit. I worry that a place this size can't sustain itself economically on a bunch of students sitting at laptops drinking a single latte. Maybe the owners thought so too because they've now expanded to serve dinner in the evenings. Hopefully that will work, because I want Bolt to survive and thrive and be there for a long, long time. Came here for breakfast the other day on a weekday and it was a solid spot. Bc we ate here on a weekday, we weren't able to order the eggs benedict (only a weekend item FYI). Instead we got, the CA scramble bowl, the huevos rancheros, the blueberry muffin, and an Americano. Everything was quite tasty, my fiance, who ordered the bowl, wished his order was a little bigger. I liked my huevos rancheros a lot. The salsa on it was tasty and had a tiny bit of kick that went well with the beans and yolky egg. The blueberry muffin was awesome! I loved the sugary top and the soft muffin with the big blueberries. I really appreciated that the muffin wasn't too sugary and was pretty sizable. The atmosphere was pretty chill with great music playing. There is a small outside patio along with several booths inside. Not sure if the parking in the back alley is open to customers, but you should be able to find metered parking in the front and street parking in the residential areas. The server/cashier we had was pretty friendly and did a good job even though he was the only one out front despite having a decent amount of customers. Had a sort of staycation weekend and needed breakfast. Decided to try it out. Great choice because not only was my feta,spinach, olive scramble delicious but the people working there were the icing on the maple scone (made that day and OMG). We needed a great breakfast after a long concert night and I found Bolt on the map searching for locations near Hollywood Bowl. This place was a perfect find! The Spinach Feta Scramble was delish and I added the beyond sausage patty and their (should be famous) homemade biscuit! Fan-freaking-tastic! Dog friendly and the staff was great. Surprised to say but my late afternoon food was stale & disappointing. The espresso coffee was not particularly delicious. I ordered the handwritten special salad, which was played up as incredible by the barrista. For $12 a better salad is sold in a bag at the supermarket. The ultimate denouement was a hotly anticipated homemade "Oreo" cookie. The cream in between was stale like it's hard to imagine any eatery willingly offering such a thing, at such a price. The cookie parts were that weird rubbery and dried out, aftertaste of being in a cupboard to long, with no cover over them. I'm not an espresso snob but I have been drinking it consistently since I moved here from Italy 25 years ago. The atmosphere is fabulous. ***** Five stars for the ambience. read more

The service was terrible. Barista has given me an attitude every time I've come in there. Funny thing...This morning she was all smiles and chatty with the man in front of me. When it was finally my turn to order, her attitude shifted entirely. Very dull and uninterested, even though I tried to make conversation. When I was done ordering, the guy behind me got a 'Hello, Good morning!'. She perked right up. Funny....I don't like to make assumptions but I can't help but notice a pattern here. Bolt guys. In my opinion, simple and easy to understand menu with a variety of dishes. Nice interior and polite staff. I like their food. It looks good, tastes good, smells good ! Prices are average. The only one thing, and it happened to me a couple of times there, sometimes they confuse with the orders. Paying attention and giving people the right order is an important thing. What if somebody is in a hurry ? Do they need to wait longer in order to receive what they actually want ? Other than that this place is a little bit special. I don't know, it just feels that way there. Maybe it's because of the way you can pour the water in your cup, could be the way their polite staff is talking to and welcoming you, or slightly different from other places food. You should definitely go there and check it out yourself. read more

I tried Bolt today for the first time while running errands in Hollywood and I liked it but sadly I didn't love it. However, as a disclaimer I am definitely going to give it another try. I ordered the bolt breakfast sandwich on their bacon bread with a substitute of Turkey bacon inside and although I wanted to love it I just didn't. I love sandwiches but this one was very salty. Maybe it was the Turkey bacon substitute? I also had their lemon cookie which was delicious and the service was great. I only sat down momentarily to eat my cookie while I waited but I can see this place being perfect for a nice solo date with some music and a good book. Overall I would visit again for the atmosphere and baked goods and maybe give another breakfast item a try. read more

I'm so happy this place is opened!! I was waiting everyday for it to open since construction started. I live in the neighborhood behind Bolt and there is nothing really walking distance except Starbucks or this other coffee shop that has okay-coffee. The interior is AMAZING! Lately, I've been a little hesitant to go to "trendy" coffee shops because usually they are well decorated, small places & highly packed with people! But this place is nice a spacious! I orders an almond cappuccino. It's like an old school cap with all the foam. Not really my fav. I like the ones with art designs & micro foam. Espresso was good and tasty but the milk was a little too hot. However - I did see them post that they are looking for an experienced barista! So it will get better! Also, really friendly service. I really believe in this place and even though they are not completely finished, I love it and will make this my new regular place! read more

After eyeing this place for about two weeks I decided to give it a try. Let me tell you the customer service was AWFUL. I truly do understand that this young lady with the dark brown hair who was obviously working both Cashier, Barista, and waitress when needed to pass out food. Extremely frustrating! I know I'm a barista/Cashier myself. She was on the verge of a breakdown and I wish I could of helped her. Honestly, she was doing so much at once: I wanted to tell her to BREATHE! Tell the customer you'll be right with them. Try to smile at least have a small convo. She was very snapping, no emotion and even snapped at one of the kitchen guys. Not a great way to handle stress in this type of industry. I asked for the WiFi, the man didn't know and so he proceeded to ask and she yell " WHAT! WHAT NOW!" Yelled out the WiFi and I continued with my day. I didn't like her mood kill me though. I will say the food is very fresh, made to order, and will fill you up! The place was very clean for the most part and the bathroom. I'm huge on sanitary bathrooms. I will come again and see if her attitude changes. If not I'll have a talk with the manager or someone. Bolt is great. Perfect little hipster gem. You'd never guess this place was so roomy and that there was an outdoor area! Very much a welcoming environment to come and do your work in a comfortable space. Good coffee, plus other options. The food is also enjoyable! 3 stars for the food and the place but that's it. Attitude is everything! I've been wanting to try this place for sometime now as I drive by it almost every day after the gym. It's hard to park on a weekday but we decided to come early for pastries and a cup of joe on a Sunday morning. Unfortunately my first experience wasnt as pleasant as I thought it would be. We were met by a less than excited barista who didnt even greet us. She seemed extremely annoyed that she even had to help us. We tried to ask her what pastries were popular and which items she recommended. Which she was less than enthusiastic about. She got our pastries and dropped them on the counter in front of me. We then ordered our coffees and while I was looking for my credit card she just walked away to get said coffees. So I put my credit card on the counter and walked to the table by the door. I came back and stood there and waited when the other barista came up and was like "can I help you". I paid and went and sat at the table and waited for my latte. The barista that took my order walked it out to me which I said "oh thank you" as she turned and walked away and said nothing. We sat at the table by the screen door and listened to it slam every time someone walked in. Not sure if this is your bell to tell you someone walked in, but you should maybe fix that to make diners have a more enjoyable and relaxed time. 5 stars for the bacon and cheese scone along with the moist delicious pumpkin spice muffin. The latte was meh...and the dark roast drip was just ok. I wish I could give this place 5 stars because the coffee and the pastries were delicious. but unfortunately like I mentioned above attitude is everything. It's a great, chill spot with ample indoor and outdoor seating, good service, and great coffee and food items. It's also a nice place to get work done (lots of outlets!), the only complaint is that the music is often too loud to actually concentrate, even though they seem to cater to a lot of writers and remote workers. You can feel the bass vibrating wherever you're sitting inside, and I can often hear it through noise canceling headphones. It doesn't always match the vibe of the customers who are actually there, the majority of whom seem to be working. read more

So I don't come over to this shop much because I am usually up earlier and Bolt doesn't open until 8. Unlike other yelpers, all of the staff I have encountered have been really nice and helpful. They're also really quick with getting your drinks to you, so you don't have to wait for them. I usually get the cold brew or an iced americano. The cold brew is very potent. One sip usually wakes me right up! I also like a lot of their hot dishes as well as their baked goods. Their burrito is soo filling. I can never really finish it, but it's so good. The biscuit breakfast sandwich is better than most since they use a sharp cheddar that gives the sandwich a tang versus american or mild cheddar.I also love their pastries. If you get there right when they open, all of their baked goods are still warm!! The blueberry muffins and chocolate chip cookies are the best thing to grab in the morning! read more

Sitting next to the window at one of my local favorites, now I've the pleasure of sitting next to the local homeless. Looking out the window I'm gifted with the visible scabs on this individual's arms and tattered hair and dirt worn blankets. When mentioned to the staff... both men did nothing and looked at me as if it was my problem. Although I would think it's kinda their responsibility to provide a clean comfortable environment. One of the Baristas mentioned that I could ask him to move if I wanted....but then I said to him I don't work here. The Barista then said he's not bothering anyone. I said well he's bothering me. I am a paying customer who chooses to sit at a window table so I suppose it's my problem. But what I don't understand is that the staff is alright with the homeless taking over the front patio and not doing a single thing about it even when mentioned. All of us Angelinos have to deal with this "pandemic" but I wish we lived in a place where us people of society did not tolerate such activity. I believe this toleration is the very reason our city is in the state it's currently in with the homeless and mentally ill in our city. It's unfortunate truly. If you read this far.....I've to say five stars for their cookies and treats and food. The one star reflects the do nothing approach to problems that affects all businesses in this city. I was a regular for almost five years. Excellent food. Great atmosphere. However, several interactions with one of the two owners left me feeling wildly unwelcome. I went out of my way to say hello and compliment his business more than once. I was met with eye rolls and blatant irritation. Initially, I cut him a lot of slack. That's how much I loved this place. We're all human. Everyone has bad days. It would be unfair to expect anyone to be on all the time. But my experiences kept getting worse. He would see me enter, roll his eyes, and relocate from wherever he was seated. Okay, I thought, maybe he was social anxiety. That has nothing to do with me. It was really a shame because I genuinely loved everyone on staff. I kept coming in for that reason. Everyone else but the owner was super friendly. The final nail in coffin? Learning the owner was badmouthing me to a staff member I was friends with. Who speaks poorly of someone whose gone out of their way to recommend your business to slews of friends and family for half a decade? Super disrespectful. I hope his staff reads this whenever he critiques their customer service. They're fine. He stopped me from coming into what was one of my favorite places in the neighborhood. read more

Perfect Mocha with Almond milk! The chocolate was mixed in so that it was suspended in the coffee the way it is supposed to be! I had a cheddar, chive, bacon scone, so delicious. I'm a baker and can say it was perfect: tender crumb, even distribution of cheese, chive and bacon, and perfectly browned bottom. I love the patio in the back too. read more

Delicious! My party of four ate at the outside dining in the back. I ordered the bolt benedict with the sausage patty (per the suggestion of the very kind worker). The others in the party got the breakfast burrito, breakfast sandwich, eaho breakfast, and caramel macchiato. The sausage patty went really well with the bolt benedict and the maple syrup + hot sauce with the breakfast sandwich was the way to go. The worker (I'm not sure if he was the owner) had very helpful and delicious suggestions. Will most definitely come again! read more
