I read the good reviews online and thought we'd try someplace new to change things up. I was initially happy to see that they had the Lavender London Fog on the menu which is a concoction of Earl Grey tea, Lavender and steamed milk. I have gotten this drink before in the past at Birch Tree Bread in Worcester which is my favorite, so I decided to do a contrast and compare. Well, the drink totally BOMBED here :( It was SO grossly sweet and was made in 2 seconds which showed they did not prepare this drink correctly (usually at Birch Tree Bread it takes 10-15 minutes to make). I took 2 sips and tossed it. PLEASE see how Birch Tree makes it and make it the correct way!!!! I then ordered the iced coffee and it was very good. We also got paninis, I got the Hot Tuna and my husband got the Rueben, they were both good, though not outstanding. Anyway, the place was clean, spacious with very friendly service, which I appreciate! The bathroom was also very clean and nicely decorated, which I love to see! If in the area again, I would go back and try something else to order. Hopefully they learn to make those London Fogs correctly though!! read more

This place is such a perfect addition to Bolton. I only wish it was there when I was younger. I love that Travis is there behind the counter to greet his customers- I'm sure many of whom he's met from his years growing up in town. The atmosphere is perfect for getting a coffee and chatting, and the mugs I purchased for my friends are now well-loved and enjoyed. It's definitely worth fighting afternoon traffic to go here! read more

Excellent food, nice building, ample parking but slow on the service and heavy on the plastic packaging. One guy ate twice and was standing around looking at his cell phone while people were waiting. The tea was scalding and not drinkable until after I was done eating. Prices were good. read more

I'm so happy I drove by the usual Massachusetts coffee & donut place and pulled into Bolton Bean's generous parking lot. Scrumptious George Howell coffee and a freshly prepared breakfast sandwich are so worth the extra few minutes. The Bolton Bean is nailing its niche, I think--a coffee shop with a rustic enough vibe for locals in this quaint New England town but also clean, warm & modern enough for millennials on their laptops & young, hip mom-blogger types to enjoy lattes while catching up. Finally!!! Been waiting for 3 years since we moved in for something to open up here! The fabric store is nice and all but it won't put a pep in my morning step. Stopped in and it was very nice, kept some of the old rustic feel but in a clean and modern way. The menu is good and the coffee is delicious! I also got a chocolate croissant which was very tasty. My wife got a tea that she said was superb. All for under 10 bucks wasn't too bad. They also have local milk from high lawn farm which is a nice touch! The coffee is from Acton too. Not sure if it's a full 5 yet, but I'll have to drop in a few more times and let you know. After dropping back in 4-5 more times, I can confirm the 5 stars review! I say this for a few reasons, one I love their focus on recycling, and almost everything there is recyclable. Can't hurt to save the earth. Also I think the prices are very fair for what you get. The coffee is delicious light roast and dark roast. And I got a breakfast sandwich with my daughter this morning that was superb. I got the egg and bacon on the side for my little one, and I think this muffin with butter it was friggin delicious. Might've snuck a few pieces of the bacon in and it was delicious. I also like that they don't charge $100 for a water that you know doesn't cost that much. Forgot my daughter's water bottle, silly me, but a buck 06 for a Poland Springs bottle is solid. They source a lot of their product from local companies and are really committed to sustainability and quality. They have fair prices, perfect for a college student. My husband and I were visiting a friend in the area and heading out for the day, when we saw the Bolton Bean. It's only been open a little over a month. They have a nice place with plenty of room to sit and enjoy your food/tea/coffee. Normally a coffee drinker (and admitted selective palate when it comes to good coffee), I was in the mood for a "London Fog" which is Earl Grey Tea with foamed milk and vanilla syrup (make mine sugar free, please). I think that is the first time I have heard this beverage be called that, as I have ordered an Earl Grey latte elsewhere. They informed me of the name of the beverage. :) Gosh was that ever tasty. I got a bagel with bacon and egg--it was served very hot, which I appreciate. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely return. read more

Staff needs to get priorities straight - staff serves customers, not vice versa. Today it was 54 degrees in Bolton and raining steadily. All the customers were huddled with coats zipped up. Why? Because the front door was opened wide, and a polite request to close it was flatly refused. To our explanation that we were freezing, the counter server replier, "Well, WE'RE hot." Anyone who has worked near a kitchen - as I have - knows it gets hot - but the notion that it's up to the customer to solve that problem by being miserable from cold - is a novel one. I always drive by this place on the way to work, and finally went in to try it out. The atmosphere is great and the location right off 117, is even better. It fits perfectly into Bolton with its exposed beams and tin ceiling. It is very clean and not overly cluttered. I consider myself somewhat of a coffee snob so I was excited to see they served coffee roasted by a company out of Acton, MA. The man behind the counter was happy to answer all of my questions about the coffee/espresso they served. Come to find out all of their milk is organic and they offer three non dairy alternatives- this is a win in my book. I ended up getting the "not your average ham and cheese sandwich" and a latte. Both were delicious. The service was quick and I was happy with my choices. I will definitely be going back. read more

This is my favorite place! It's everything that a local, independent coffee shop should be. The coffee is always delicious. So many breakfast items, from the bakery case muffins and croissants to the scrumptious egg sandwiches and avocado toast. They have an extensive lunch menu as well with something for everyone. I have too many favorites to list just one, but you won't be disappointed! Sandwiches, paninis, poke bowls and a newly-added Lobster Roll for the summer...incredible. Oh and we love when they have meatballs on special! The meatball panini may be my favorite after all. If coffee isn't your thing, like my husband, there are so many other wonderful options. His favorite is the Mint Chip Smoothie with a shot of espresso. They offer a nice variety of syrups for coffees, teas and smoothies and are happy to help with suggestions so you are sure to find a drink that you will love. (They use Ghirardelli chocolate in their mochas which is on my list of usuals, so yum!) The ambiance is great. Everything is very clean. There are some games on the windowsills for those who are so inclined. They feature artwork from different artists which change up every couple of weeks or so. There's also live music featured from time to time. Local fundraisers are often available as well as local merchants setting up a little table in the entryway. There's always something different, which is nice because I'm there at least twice a day . Lastly, Travis and Randy, the owners, are so sweet. They go above and beyond to make each customer feel welcome and quickly remember names and usual orders. Great dark roast drip coffee from Costa Rican beans. It's wonderful to have a high quality coffee shop, and a place to gather again in Bolton. The atmosphere is perfect cafe. The pastrami sandwich was very tasty, but a tad more meat would have made this $8.50 sandwich a complete home run. Thank you for preserving the old Salt Box sign as a coffee table. I love, love reconnecting with the old Saltbox again. Nice mix of leather sofa and armchairs with tables and high stools on a bar facing the street. We got four sandwiches and a couple of iced coffees here and took them to the Nashoba Valley Winery to eat. The sandwiches are great! My wife got a chicken Caesar wrap which gave me serious entree envy, but my Hammich was also very good, and it came with a nice stone ground mustard. So the food is great, the staff was helpful and friendly, but the real impressive thing was the iced coffee. It was, no exaggeration, the very best iced coffee I've ever had. It actually had flavor, unlike every DD iced coffee I've had, and yet it didn't have that bitter burnt quality to it that Starbucks can sometimes get. This one was nutty, rich, and refreshing. I was just visiting, but the people of Bolton are truly lucky to have this place so close. I'll be back one day for sure! read more
