This is a Miami staple and I can see why, the whole experience was amazing! We started off dinner with a lychee martini and the Bombay queen. The lychee martini was one of the best I've ever had. We decided to get an order of vegetable samosas to start. These were so good. Perfectly fried, not at all oily and so delicious. I swear I could have ordered an order of these just for myself. For our entrees we split the butter chicken and chicken biryani and got a side order of garlic naan. This was my first time having butter chicken and omg I understand why everyone raves about it. This was beyond amazing. I found myself just taking a spoonfuls of sauce and dunking the naan in it. The biryani was also delicious but a tad too spicy for my personal liking. But if you're a spice lover than you can't go wrong. Not to mention the portion is huge. The service we received throughout the dinner was exceptional. We were greeted by our server immediately and she was able to give us some great recommendations. During dinner the manager came to check on us as well. Great ambience for an Indian restaurant. They have a lot of tables but if you are planning to dine in at peak hours, I would recommend booking a table in advance. You will probably enjoy the restaurant if you are not an Indian. As an Indian, you will likely be left a little disappointed with the flavor. But overall food is good given you are in Miami. I have been coming to Bombay Darbar since it was in it's other smaller location in Coconut Grove. It's the best Indian food I've had in Miami! I am always so happy to see how many vegetarian options they have, and I have tried so many of them! The paneer makhani is probably my favorite, but the chana masala, malai kofta, and saag paneer have all been great. I always order the garlic naan, which is also really good, and occasionally I will get the mango lassi. The entrees include a serving of rice, and you can always ask for more. I tend to have 2 or 3 meals out of one serving. The ambiance of the newer location is welcoming and great for a date night or an outing with friends. It's fun to see the Bollywood movies playing on the screens throughout the restaurant. Service has always been great, as well. We had a lovely lunch special here. I love all types of foods and this was an interesting graduation lunch celebration. We all had lunch specials that came with Dal soup, tamarind sauce for the samosa, your choice meal with rice and rice pudding dessert. We had Lamb Vindaloo, Lamb Roganjosh, chicken tiki masala, chicken tandoori. With garlic Nann bread. Next time I'll order the chicken mango curry because I do like dipping and the sauces. We ordered the food delivered to our hotel. Overall the food was good (not great). The samosas were delicious. Chicken Biriyani was a bit bland and had raisins which isn't our preference. Sadly mediocre, and not worth the cost. My wife and I both think it used to be better. Overall, the 3 stars are to denote pure average. Just average. Don't get me wrong, it's still great to get Indian food and the meals were not horrendous. But the value was not there for what we paid. And in the world of inflation and expensive everything, I've just become more picky when it comes to whether a restaurant is offering good enough food for what they're charging. We had the mango chicken masala, for instance, but it seemed to be some chicken breast in a mango lassi-like sauce. No complex flavor. The sauce tasted synthetic and canned. And the chicken itself was tasteless. The naan was small and fairly plain as well. The restaurant is always bustling, and lots of Indian families come here. But today's dinner made me question why. We had adequate service - nothing spectacular and nothing deplorable. And the ambience is similar to how it's always been: super crowded with wait staff, most of whom are just talking to each other. The menu is pretty large but they make it easy to order with highlighting the fan favorites with a little heart shape. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco to drink and started with tandoori chicken wings and vegetable samosa. From the appetizers my favorite was the vegetable samosa. They are crunchy--not oily and jam packed with flavor. I was not a big fan of the tandoori chicken (marinated in yogurt, herbs and spices). I found the flavors to be to strong. It was over powering. For dinner, we decided to share butter chicken and chicken tikka masala. It came with basmati rice to share. We also added an order of garlic naan. My favorite was the butter chicken. It was so creamy! Dipping the garlic naan in the butter chicken was so yummy! We ordered the food medium spicy and I found it to be very mild. Overall I really enjoyed my meal at Bombay. So many years living in Miami and never once did I come to Bombay... I'm sure glad my partner and I finally tried it!! Food: The food was filled with creamy, spiced, fresh flavors that we could not get enough of our dish haha. Looks of quality food for the amount purchased. I've been here a handful of times and it's been great almost every time. I order the mango chicken curry every time and it never disappoints. They let you choose mild medium or hot and if you like spice I recommend the hot. I don't think it's so incredibly hot to make the food not enjoyable. I've taken multiple friends here and everyone loves it The drinks are also incredible. I tried the bengal tiger and my friend tried the lychee martini. Both were delicious and a good amount of alcohol. They give you unlimited rice and I recommend getting the garlic naan to share. Ambiance is good with large families and small tables as well. I love Indian food, and when I say Indian food, I am talking about the food with all the bells and whistles and spices and peppers and what not, not tla watered-down version of it. But that is the dilemma all Indian (and even Thai) restaurants face. Tlan Indian dish prepared properly is considered too spicy (or even intolerable) to most westerners. So they have to provide a mild version of their food by removing some of the spices, or in some cases I have even seen them add yogurt to the gravy to make it less spicy. All these change the flavor or even texture of the food, and youvare ko longer eating the food as it was intended, but rather a different version of it The funny thing is that I used to be one of those who couldn't handle the heat, but after working 30 years in IT (which is shocking since I am only 35, lol) and having many Indian friends and going out to lunch with them, I slowly started to mot only tolerate, but also enjoy, appreciate, and even yearn the flavor of all the spices. What I like about Bombay Darbar, aside from service and professionalism, is that they have managed to have slightly less spicy variations of the food without changing the flavor of the food drastically. Everything is very good. Last time I had lamb Roganjosh and it was amazing. If you go there for the first time and don't know what to order, order that. Great food, great experience. An excellent authentic experience to Indian food. We came here on a Saturday night and it was quite noisy but also busy, a good sign for things to come. For appetizers, we had Vegetable Samosas and Chili Cauliflower. The samosas were amazing and the Cauliflower was super spicy! I was only able to handle the heat thanks to the homemade Mango Smoothies (which were delicious) and a side of Tzatziki our waitress was gracious enough to provide us to battle the heat. The cauliflower was worth the spice however, as it was indeed very tasty. For main dishes we had Chicken Korma and Shrimp Biryani. The chicken korma was amazing, and despite it's small size, the sauce can be very filling. The Shrimp Biryani was a beast however, as I could only eat half of it. It was also spicy but not as hot as the Chili Cauliflower. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here and I can see why it's seen as a staple of Indian Cuisine, as my taste buds reminded me the hot way! Probably my favorite Indian restaurant in Miami, this little gem is located in the Grove behind the Mayfair. It's always packed, there's a lively ambiance with a lovely spicy aroma. A few times I've had to wait to be seated, but it's always worth the wait. Every meal I've had here is 5 stars and the service has always been excellent. I usually begin with a mango lassi, which is more intoxicating than any alcoholic beverage, and devour some samosas to start. The last time I went we shared several dishes, including the paneer, dal, butter chicken and chicken tikka masala, with a side of naan of course. Reservation is a must but they had plenty of seating for 2-4 people. Parking is convenient at Cocowalk right across Virginia St. The food is 10/10 and leftovers are even better the next day. You want to go with staples like biriyani and butter chicken but try some new plates too. It was my first time having paneer and although it was too spicy for me, I liked the initial flavors.
