I was always curious about this place and finally got to try. This time, I did a takeout of Samosas, Traditional Chicken Curry, and Basmati Rice. I called the restaurant before ordering online because I'm lactose intolerant and wanted to know which curry was made without milk or yoghurt. The guy who answered said all traditional curries. The food was ready in about 30 minutes after ordering. I liked the curry as it was not heavy at all and had home made comfort taste to it. The rice was cooked nicely. However, I didn't care for the samosas at all, as they were too greasy. I was thinking maybe the temperature of the oil was too low, they didn't shake off the oil well, or didn't put on the paper towel to absorb the excess oil, something of that nature. I'd like to try more dishes in the future and update the review.

If looking for quality indian cuisine, look no further. Its not fancy and the decor is a little dated, but the food was so good that the looks of the place didnt matter. Plus the price was perfect for Honololu, a full meal with naan and dronk only cost 30 dollars. The naan was interesting as it was crispy but also puffy. I also had the mango lassi, which was delicious and a must have when you stop in.

Love love love Indian curry and garlic naan! The naan served here is huge, and "puffy." Not like naan from other Indian restaurants. It was warm with a crispy bottom! Really enjoyed their naan, wish the garlic was lots stronger. We got the "Chef's Special," Chicken Tikka Masala and Tandoori chicken. Both chickens were tasteless. It was my bf's first time trying Tandoori chicken and we were both shocked when it didn't have taste. The curry itself had a kick! On the back of their menu, it says that there will be an automatic 18% service charge. We felt uneasy about that when we first saw that, debating if we should just leave. We always tip, but "18% service charge" felt weird?? We were glad when we got the check there wasn't a 18% charge Located in a center with a parking lot, they validate so your parking is $2

Satisfied our craving for dinner and ordered a mango lassi and vegetarian samosa to start. Not usually fond on samosas but these were extremely flavorful with some kick to it. Then ordered lamb biryani and chicken saag with naan bread (plain and garlic).Satisfying and courteous service.

We ordered Palak paneer, malai kofta, garlic naan, and roti. The food overall was good. All flavors were not overpowering and as expected, they make food appropriate to the spice you tell them- a warm refreshing change compared to indian restaurants who make everything spicy. So you can trust them on this. I will say that Palak paneer was very salty. Not sure if that was due to variation or if this is their baseline but it's something to ask about and consider if you will be ordering it. Otherwise, this is a good place to enjoy Indian food when you've been craving it. Food is primarily Punjabi, so those craving dosas and uttapam will be disappointed.

Twas supposed to be ladies night, but one of the amigas bailed. So, it became date night with my lovely. Milady be a reverted Muslim so who better to dine Mediterranean with than she? As much as I say I try to love Mexican food, I think this would be right up there too. I haven't been a huge fan, but I'll just keep saying that I just haven't found the right thing. I studied the menu days before coming. I was set on the butter chicken, palak paneer and garlic naan. My gal pal chose the samosas and lamb. I wasn't paying attention to the dish name but I couldn't forget it was lamb lol. The samosas were good. I wish peas weren't included. So I literally dug out every single pea from mine and I counted 6, not bad. Also potato filled and the outer layer is crisp. Everything fried is better. Butter chicken and tikka masala are similar, I was told the butter chicken is creamier and the tikka masala has a stronger tomato flavor. I'm a mom, I get HEARTBURN like a mofo, so the strong tomato was a no go. Butter chicken was good. I've never had chicken in such big chunks like that, but still good. My favorite had to be dipping the garlic naan in the sauce! The palak paneer was my least fave. Nothing wrong with it. Just more bland for my liking. Spinach with blocks of cheese. The cheese blocks reminded me of tofu for some reason. Again, not bad, just not on my tops. And of course the garlic naan was my fave. I thought the alcohol would've been the winner, but not this time. I have naan all the time, but from Costco lol. Now imma have to buy naan from restaurants! Hot, fresh, garlicy, bubbled dough. Oh my! I had two orders to myself, except when I offered a bit to my friend lol. She knew I wanted to hoard it cuz she politely said she wasn't really interested hahaha! Service was great. The alcohol was just not agreeing with me here. But overall we will definitely be back. I'm hooked on the naan and butter chicken combo. Good food, good atmosphere, so, we had a good time! Parking is behind the bldg, the gates were open for us... Don't know how often that happens though. Its Waikiki after all.

We were a little skeptical at first given the reviews but I'm glad we decided to give it a try. I don't know what people are talking about because this place is pretty good. Just an FYI I'm desi and picky about Pakistani/Indian food. We ordered the following. Mango Lassi-8/10 Vegetable Pakoras10/10 Mint and tamarind chutney-10/10 Palak Paneer-10/10 Daal Makhni-8/10 Chicken Tikka Masala- 10/10 Garlic and plain naan-10/10 so soft and fluffy! Ras Malai-9/10 Gulab Jamun-10/10 Kheer- I wasn't a fan, sorry. Chai- I'm a chai connoisseur so I give it a 7/10. Service was great! Very polite and nice. Would definitely come here again. Thank you! P.S. we were hungry so I didn't have a chance to take a picture of the food. Lol

Got to try this place. Didn't know they existed. We were the only family eating on a Sunday night. Chicken Tikka Masala Probably my favorite dish of the night. Nice balance of flavors and the right amount of creaminess. Interested in trying other places bitter chicken. Cheese Naan This was hot and made fresh. Loved dipping this into the Butter Chicken Sauce Samosas Outside was hot But inside was cool. Definitely fried to order but I think they are stored frozen. Downside was the price. Hard to see the Butter Chicken being $20. Probably go back to give them another try.

Came here for the second time and ordered the exact same items as our last visit 6 months ago. The quality, cleanliness and service all went down. We really enjoyed the samosas last time, but the samosas were obviously reheated this time around and the center of the samosas were completely cold. The sauces were also not as good as last time. Vegetable Biryani was much worse this time as well as it was a soggy mess, and it definitely didn't have "fresh vegetables " as the menu suggested. The carrots and peas tasted like it was from a frozen pack. The Lamb Rogan had less lamb and was also more oily than last time we ordered it. The chicken tikka masala tasted fine, but the texture was as if it was reheated as well. The only thing we enjoyed was the garlic naan bread. Hence two stars instead of one. Service got even worse, unbelievably they had even fewer and possibly newer staff as the server didn't even know if the entrees come with rice when we asked. Also no one took our order this time around and we had to write down our own orders, and go grab the check ourselves. And the same rule for not ordering any more food applies still. In addition, our glassware was dirty and we had to ask for it to be replaced. This concludes my very last visit to Bombay - will not be back again.

Spice Up your life!…read more Yeah.....sorry no Spice Girls at this restaurant (though my mom did tell me there are a variety of Indian restaurants in London). NOTES 1. BYOB. The restaurant does provide a wine opener (if you haven't brought your own) and glasses. 2. Parking available in the lot behind the restaurant. The "entrance" to the lot very nondescript....its kind of like going thru a large "portal". Signage is great, but there is a sign for parking.....just be aware when traveling East on King St. 3. The restaurant is cozy, not too small, but not large. There were two parties of 5 and 6 people, respectively, that were accommodated fairly easily while we were dining. 4. I was in a group of 4 that ventured for dinner last month. After perusing the menu (we didn't take very long since we were hungry), we ordered for the table: Garlic Cheese Naan Vegetable Samosas Chicken Momo Lamb Boti Kabab Tandoori Chicken Wings Butter Chicken Chicken Tikka Masala The food was incredibly good....or, since we were so hungry anything tasted great at the moment for dinner. Nah, it's the former. The dish that disappeared and was completely devoured was the Butter Chicken. I absolutely loved this! So good. It paired well with the garlic cheese naan. We also enjoyed the Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Kabab, Vegetable Samosa. We all thought the Chicken Momo was just "ok". We'd probably skip this and try something else on the next visit. SERVICE The staff is friendly and patient. They checked on us regularly throughout the meal. I appreciated that they loaned us their wine opener (since we had forgotten to bring one). BOTTOM LINE A satisfying first time experience. We'll be ordering the garlic cheese naan and the butter chicken on the next visit for sure. Recommended.

Every dish delivered layers of flavor rather than just heat, with spices like turmeric, cardamom, and tamarind working together instead of competing. The curries were rich and silky without feeling heavy, with tender pieces of meat and vegetables soaking up sauces that ranged from gently creamy to bright and tangy. All dishes were comforting, slow-cooked depth you only get when it's been simmering for hours, and the garlic naan came to the table warm from the tandoor, slightly blistered on the outside and soft inside, perfect for scooping up every last bit of sauce. Definitely returning customer's!

We requested that our dishes be prepared with a milder spice level, which turned out to be a great choice because we were able to fully appreciate all the wonderful spices and flavors. We ordered the special mixed kebab biryani platter, which included shrimp, chicken, and lamb served over a bed of biryani rice. The presentation was impressive! We also ordered the fish tandoori, which came in a flavorful curry sauce that my family absolutely loved. As a special treat, the chef prepared another fish dish for us in a coconut curry style. The taste was immaculate--rich, savory, and incredibly satisfying. We couldn't stop dipping our stuffed cheesy naan into the curry sauce. None of us wanted that dish to end--we wished we had ordered more! A nice bonus is that many of these special dishes can be made upon request. Just contact the restaurant ahead of time, and they will gladly prepare them for your visit. Our servers were fantastic as well. They constantly made sure we were taken care of, refilling water, bringing extra napkins, and providing boxes when needed. With the new décor in place, the restaurant feels bright, welcoming, and inviting. It is a smaller space, so tables are fairly close together, but that only adds to the cozy atmosphere--you might even make friends with fellow diners. Overall, Cafe Maharani continues to be my go-to spot for authentic Indian cuisine!

This brought back memories of my experience here YEARS ago. Located in Nuuanu, just a few minutes by foot from Maemae School, GVB has been offering since 1991, a healthy dining option in a peaceful setting inside ISKCON Hawai'i Temple. They offer an AYCE option weekdays from 11am to 230pm. Upon arrival, my friends and I immediately noticed the calm atmosphere in the beautiful gardens of this Hare Krishna Temple. After paying for our meal we sat down on community long tables in their cozy dining room. The buffet line had a decent selection where standouts were the vegetarian lasagna, assorted curries and the fresh vegetables. Menu offerings change daily where notables include vegetarian lasagna, lentil nut loaf, samosas, quiche, assorted curries and halva. There's also mint ginger water and water offered. Service here is limited as it's pretty much do it yourself. So why only 4 stars? Food was nothing outstanding and the food temperature was not hot as I would have preferred. Eating some dishes such as curries, samosas and papadum would have better if eaten hot. Overall, my friends and I had a great experience here at GVB where I was finally able to try them. This is not a place I'd initiate a get together but wouldn't object if friends wanted to come here. Better late than never.
