    ali's pho
    Stephanie D.

the place was very well decorated! trulyyyy a class act. the staff were quite quick, but I must be honest in noting that this is not a true vietnamese establishment. DONT GET ME WRONG. the pho was good! and I was told great things about the rice bowl. but as a vietnamese person, the pho just tasted like good noodles and soup--not pho keep this in mind, but it's still worth a munch! I'd recommend eating in rather than taking out tho

the j.p. - packed full of tofu and great tasting sauces!

I was really happy with the vegetarian banh mi sandwich at this restaurant. I came right around noon on a Thursday, and there was no line! I was greeted warmly as soon as I walked in, and my order was ready very quickly! I was particularly impressed with the sandwich because a lot of sandwiches of this type can be quite dry. I found the flavoring in both the tofu and the sauces to be plentiful and deep. The only thing that could make it better would be that the toppings are placed at the bottom of the sandwich, and the tofu is placed on top, making it hard to get all of the flavors in a single bite. If the toppings and tofu were more evenly distributed, it would be truly amazing! I really enjoyed the ambience of sitting outside on Congress Street, very close to South Station or a short walk from the Seaport. I would definitely come back!

Came here after going to childrens museum. I like the self service kiosk, makes ordering super easy. What i really enjoyed was the childrens menu. It included a beverage and pocky with either a noodle bowl or rice bowl. Loved that. I personally had the szechuan spicy noodles. Portions are generous as well!

I loved bon me! I got the noodle salad with chicken and it was outstanding. I also got the pink lychee blossom drink and it was beautiful and delicious! This is a top tier fast casual option.

I would say the portion is big. But flavor is mediocre. I got japchae noodles and the seasoning is unbalanced. I can only taste the spicy sauce when I eat the noodles. The vegetables are mostly bland except for the bamboo. Texture of the whole dish is not balanced either. Most ingredients are sliced, but the chicken is cut into small cubes and it got broken up even further. They are hard to pick up and at the end, I had to use a spoon to scoop them out. There are 3 tablets for ordering which is convenient. They have plenty of seating inside. This place is self service.

Amazing spot for fusion Vietnamese/Asian fusion food! The pulled sandwich was sauced in a balanced way - it got rid of the gamey pork flavor and remained juicy. The Mayo sauce was perfect with the pork. My favorite part was the pork pate - so brilliant!! Like a fine dining touch to the fulfilling food truck food. Loved it - so original and tasty. Bok choy and pork noodle salad were awesome as wel. Generous portion and food prepared in no time. It highly recommend this spot

We had lunch at Bon Me today. It was a very nice meal! This cozy little restaurant was modern, had a nice atmosphere and was very clean. The service was also great. The staff was pleasant to deal with and got they got our food served quickly. I opted for Ali's Pho which came with roasted chicken, rice noodles, red cabbage, cilantro, and scallions. I gotta say, it was a big bowl of pure soupy goodness. The pho was served piping hot, and each spoonful was bursting with flavorful broth. The combination of the savory chicken, herbed broth, fresh cilantro and the subtle crunch of the red cabbage created a nice blend of taste and texture which I really loved. This place is well worth visiting. I would highly recommend Bon Me to anyone looking for a big bowl of tasty pho. You really can't go wrong here. Four stars!

After children's museum closed we went over to order take out. They packaged the to go very well. The pho broth was good- you can taste the anise, onion and beef flavor. They included allot of rice noodles and cilantro, cabbage. A lot of cooked chicken. There was a lime wedge in there as well- inspired by authentic pho soup. The kids meal wasn't bad. We chose rice noodles and it came with plenty of carrots and cucumbers. And on the side, sauce. My kids love rice noodles so it was great- they don't care for any sort sauce but i mist some of the soy on it . We got a cold so it was perfect remedy.

    Vegan bowl over brown rice.

The portions are huge. If I didn't skip lunch I would not have been able to finish it. I added bok choy on my bowl for extra greens. Very casual eatery where you order at the counter. Would definitely come again !

    Ali's "pho"

Worst pho I have ever had. This tastes like someone tried to recreate Campbells chicken noodle soup during a midwestern cook-off and ran out of time. If you are someone who has no idea what pho is supposed to taste like, then you're in luck! For context, along with cisco/U.S foods chicken thigh, they do not serve it with the standard fresh herbs (basil, cilantro, mint), limes, jalapeños, bean sprouts or hoisin sauce. It just comes out dry, scared and alone! Also, there is a handful of random cabbage on top. Neat.

Every dish exploded with unique, fresh flavors. Definitely try the fried chicken. Epic. Another big hit was the scallion pancakes with caviar, topped with a perfectly fried egg. The combination worked shockingly well with the pancakes and caviar. The only dish I'd recommend skipping is the Spicy Szechuan Dandan Noodles. Not bad, just a very heavy anise and dill flavor that overpowered the entire dish. That being said, the service was amazing. Our server, Robin P., took that dish off the bill, which was incredibly thoughtful. I can't say enough good things about this place. Go try it. Get blown away. Thank me later.

It was quite busy due to the tall ships on a beautiful and sunny Saturday afternoon, but I was happy to have made reservations a week prior. This restaurant is known for an eclectic Asian seafood cuisine, but they also have a few meat options such as a duck breast which was recommended for larger parties to share. Since it was just the two of us, we did have some cocktails which I thought were OK not great. What we did enjoy were the Japanese fried chicken, I highly recommend this and it was perfect for two people to share. The pan roasted dayboat scallops were also delicious but a little bit on the salty side, and the roasted beet salad was also good, but lacked some savory notes. Due to the unexpected wait, they actually comped our dessert which was very nice of them. Overall, I did enjoy this restaurant and really liked the view of the tall ships. I think if we decided to come again, we would probably come back on either a weeknight or maybe in the fall/winter. It can be pretty expensive as well but I do feel this restaurant is of quality. We walked into a space with an energetic atmosphere, an open kitchen, a lively dining room, and a contemporary design that makes the restaurant feel both casual and polished. The layout encourages ordering several dishes for the table, and the variety across the menu makes it easy to build a meal that feels different with each visit. The small plates are the biggest draw because they let you try a wide range of flavors without committing to a single entrée. The pork belly buns are one of the signature dishes, featuring tender pork inside soft steamed buns with a balance of sweet and savory flavors. The dan dan noodles are another standout with their rich, spicy sauce, while the Brussels sprouts have developed a strong following thanks to their crispy texture and bold seasoning. We also appreciated that many dishes are available as half portions, making it easier to sample more of the menu without ordering too much food. The menu offers a good balance between familiar favorites and more creative dishes, with each plate feeling thoughtfully prepared and packed with flavor. There are also plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, making it easy for groups with different dietary preferences to find something they enjoy. I came here with no high expectations on sushi and it was over the top! Every bite was a burst of freshness and flavor! It was truly worth the price. On the other hand, we did sushi nachos, chicken lettuce wrap, and Rangoon. These apps were extremely mediocre for the price. The cocktails here are wonderful and are worth the $20 My reason for 4/5 stars were for the mediocre apps that I didn't think were worth the price. And the service, we didn't receive bad service but I truly believe that when dining at places like this I like to think I'm paying the high cost for the ocean view and the good service. Our server really lacked personality, never asked us how our drinks or food was but only come to the table when we needed to order something. The Tall ships are in town so the restaurant is probably busy. While this presents new challenges, it also gives most of the employees an opportunity to make more money so I'm not putting a lot of stock into that being the reason why the service was so poor. I asked my server what they thought about these two dishes and they didn't immediately say I shouldn't get the tuna burger, which I find fascinating given how absolutely terrible the dish it is. As you can see from my photo it is literally an entire tray of french fries and then a tiny little Tuna burger which was fine ish? Pretty dry but I was just astonished at how many fries we got. And they were like a bad version of McDonald's fries. It was hot and humid outside, and I was begging for water. Every single time the server came over I had to ask for water, despite having an empty glass that I strategically put at the end of the table. We had a service animal with us and we did ask for water for her which she forgot , but honestly that didn't bother me much because we should have brought her our own water. There were no server assistants, or managers , or busses to fill water I guess ? It seemed like this girl had an entire section to herself, and she did not seem very happy. This was an overwhelmingly disappointing experience given how expensive everything was, and with so many nearby options we don't feel any reason to ever go back. It's dark, energetic, and feels like you're stepping into a modern Shanghai cocktail lounge rather than a typical Chinese restaurant. It was busy but never felt overwhelming, making it a great spot for a group dinner or a night out. We decided to share just about everything on the menu, and that's definitely the way to experience this place. We started with the Tangerine Tuna, which was one of my favorite dishes of the night. The mandarin, peanuts, and spicy mayo gave it a bright, refreshing flavor that was different from the usual tuna crudo. The Spicy Salmon Puffs were another standout with a fun combination of crispy rice puffs, spicy salmon, and a touch of honey. We also ordered the Crab Rangoons, Scallion Pancake, Pan Fried Pork Dumplings, Wang Shou Wings, and Pork Belly Buns. The rangoons had a perfectly crispy shell with a creamy filling, while the scallion pancake disappeared almost immediately thanks to the house dipping sauce. The pork belly buns were rich and packed with flavor, and the wings had a unique dry spice blend with just enough heat to keep you reaching for another. For the larger plates, we shared the Dandan Noodles, House Fried Rice, Cantonese Fried Chicken, and the whole soy chicken noodle platter. The fried rice was probably the biggest surprise of the night. It's easy to overlook a fried rice on a menu this large, but it was incredibly flavorful and one of the dishes everyone kept going back for. The Dandan noodles were rich with a nutty sesame-peanut sauce and just enough chili oil to give them some kick. The Cantonese fried chicken was perfectly crispy without feeling greasy, and the soy chicken platter was ideal for sharing with the table. The cocktail program deserves a mention too. We tried the Paper Crane, Mr. H Mai Tai, and White Dragon before finishing the night with the Hibiki Harmony whiskey, which was presented in a really fun smoked tableside display that made for a memorable ending to the meal. The cocktails were creative without being overcomplicated and fit the vibe of the restaurant perfectly. Overall, Mr. H delivers more than just good food. The atmosphere, presentation, cocktails, and shareable menu make it a place that's meant to be experienced with friends. I'd recommend coming with a group so you can order across the menu instead of sticking to just a couple of dishes. It's not an inexpensive dinner, but for a special night out in the Seaport, I thought it was well worth it.

TLDR: Potentially…read moreone of my favorite Chinese restaurants in all of Massachusetts! Beautiful interior, centrally located, and delicious, high-quality food. Will definitely find a reason to come back here soon. ------ FOOD: 1. [MUST TRY] STIR-FRIED CABBAGE W/ PORK BELLY (5/5) Presentation was phenomenal (in a clay pot with its own burner underneath to keep it hot). The portion was much larger than expected, and most importantly, it tasted incredible. Generous amounts of pork in this, and the sauce was authentic and addicting. 2. SCALLION CHICKEN (5/5) Another great choice. This was a huge portion with lots of tender chicken, and the scallion was present without being overpowering. 3. CRISPY BEEF WITH FRIED DOUGH STICKS (5/5) I was expecting Chinese you tiao but these were actually the small, ultra crispy manhua twists! Paired with the beef, this was a large and unique dish that I loved. The crispiness of the mahua made this a textural delight to eat. 4. MANGO SAGO DESSERT (5/5) Big portion, wonderful assortment of toppings including grapefruit, mango, sago, and popping balls over a creamy dessert soup base. 5. PEKING DUCK (4/5) I think I'm a tough critic since I just came back from Beijing and had so much Peking duck there. We ordered the half portion here and it had a generous amount of meat for not being the full portion. There were an assortment of accompaniments, including pineapple (new to me) and sugar (like the Beijing style) which were welcome additions. The wrappers were steamed well and didn't curl up on the edges. Overall this was a solid Peking duck, but the meat wasn't as standout as I was hoping. 6. STEAMED PORK SOUP DUMPLING (4/5) Solid soup dumplings. Not the best I've ever had, but definitely hit the spot. 7. SAUTEED PEA SPROUTS (4/5) Another solid classic. 8. PORK MEATBALL IN CRAB MEAT SAUCE (4/5) This was the most unique thing we ordered. I've never had a shi zi tou meatball with crab meat sauce before. The meatball itself was large (maybe size of a tennis ball), tender, and fatty, as it should be. It was then drowned in a generous lake of traditional crab meat sauce. If you're not a fan of crab meat then this might be a bit too fishy for you, but honestly it all combined surprisingly well and I grew to like this dish more and more with each bite. I wasn't the biggest fan to start, but by the end I wouldn't have minded getting another one! ------ AMBIANCE / ENVIRONMENT: * The interior has the classic Asian style of decor, but you can tell it was recently built / renovated because everything felt new and fresh. * The ambiance also felt more new-school luxurious vs. the typical Asian establishments that are more no-frills with as many tables packed in as possible * You're still somewhat close to the tables around you, but it's not overwhelming during lunch time and we still felt like we had enough space regardless * There's a bar area at the front of the restaurant and then a large, spacious dining room in the back * This is a great place for a date or a meaningful family gathering * Right outside is Boston Common, making this restaurant very well-located for lunch before or after a nice day in the park. While there's lots of parking around the park, a spot itself can be hard to come by, so your best bet might be to use the nearby parking garage instead ------ SERVICE: * Overall the service was great and quick. They did forget our tea, but when we asked for it later they apologized profusely and were quick to bring it out for us * This place fills up quickly so be sure to come early if you don't have a reservation or if you're a big enough group, make a reservation for your desired dining time

I had this with my Shanghainese relatives and they thought it was so bad Fish Slices w/ Pickled Mustard Greens (6.5/10): This tasted fine. The fish itself was not memorable. The spice level was ok, but could've been spicier. Crab Roe over Rice (7/10): Pretty tasty, but more of a side dish. Peking Duck (7/10): Honestly, I never order Peking duck unless I'm with my relatives. It tasted good to me, but pretty comparable to other Peking ducks I've had in the US. I think this is their #1 specialty dish or something, so knowing that, it doesn't really live up to the hype. tl;dr Too expensive for the quality of food you get.

Located in the…read moreSeaport, it has a trendy, modern vibe with dim lighting, sleek decor, and a lively atmosphere, definitely a good choice for a night out with friends, a birthday dinner, or even a date. The menu leans pan-Asian with a big focus on sushi, small plates, and shareable dishes. There's a lot of variety, so it's easy to order a mix of things for the table. The sushi is fresh and nicely presented, and the specialty rolls feel creative without being overcomplicated. The hot dishes are flavorful and come out well-timed, which makes sharing easy and enjoyable. We tried the Peking duck, which was flavorful and similar to other high-quality versions we've had in the past. The mapo tofu was also good, though not as numbing as we would've liked. Service is generally attentive and professional, and the staff handles larger tables and busy nights well. Overall, Empire is a solid Seaport go-to if you're looking for Asian food, cool ambiance, and a fun night out.

XO Seafood Udon: The restaurant specifically labeled it "wok-tossed," and it truly had a wonderful wok-hei鑊氣 (wok aroma), with an irresistible fragrance as soon as it arrived at the table. The XO sauce was extremely rich, sweet and umami, and the udon noodles were soft on the outside and bouncy on the inside; the sauce was glossy, smooth, but not greasy, allowing it to coat the noodles evenly and infuse them with flavor. The shrimp, squid, and scallops were all fresh and large, making for a very satisfying meal. The shrimp, in particular, were coated with a thin layer of starch before being pan-fried, adding layers of texture and locking in the juices. This plate removed the scallions and onions to suit my taste, and if you like spicy food, adding a little chili oil would greatly enhance the flavor. The restaurant had an elegant and refined ambiance, and the service was attentive, making it a very relaxing place.

When I made the reservation online I put that the occasion it was for was my birthday- I notice that most restaurants don't pay attention to this on OpenTable, but Fuji definitely did! We were seated quickly and with no issue at all, despite it being pretty crowded. The vibe was intimate and classy- a great spot for date night, or for dinner with your parents. At our table was a card (in the pictures) which was such a nice touch and was a great start to the meal. Our waitress was awesome, and it seemed like there was a floor manager too that was making sure everyone was happy. It felt like the staff truly cared and wanted to make sure everyone was having a good time and experience. Our waitress checked in on us multiple times, and was very helpful with the menu. Speaking of the menu, I was very pleased to see the amount of vegetarian dishes! You don't see that often at Japanese restaurants! For our appetizers we got the lobster Rangoon and spicy edamame. Technically the tofu is an app but you would never guess that from the portion size. The edamame were outstanding! They were spicy as expected and were so tasty. We demolished the whole bowl. The Rangoons were also amazing- the chunks of lobster were divine. I myself love lobster and crab Rangoons, so a combo?! Amazing. Both the edamame and lobster Rangoons are can't misses. For our entrees/ mains we got the crispy soy noodles, miss Waldorf roll, sweet potato roll, tofu, and fried rice. The miss Waldorf roll is amazing, and I can not wait to go back and get more sushi. Truly the best sushi I have had in boston. There are other upscale sushi restaurants I have been to that charge a pretty penny but taste like grocery store sushi. Fuji is not one of those- it was truly exceptional sushi. The sweet potato roll was also delicious! I am very picky about my sweet potato rolls and had one that I have dreamt about since I had it in 2022. I have finally found a sweet potato roll that matches my standards. The crispy soy noodles were also amazing! They reminded e of one of my favorite restaurants when I was a kid and it filled me with such joy to eat something with that flavor. The serving size was pretty big too, and they were not shy on the shrimp! Note though, they were a tad oily (I added a little bit of soy sauce to balance it out). The fried rice was also very good and tasted like a good bowl of comfort fried rice. My parents ate it with the tofu and liked it! The only dish I would want some change in is the tofu- it wasn't bad but compared to the other dishes it definitely lacked the flavor punch you get in the rest of the dishes. The sauce was okay with it. After dinner our waitress brought a slice of vanilla crepe cake and ice cream! This was such a nice touch and it was SO good!!!!! It was the first time I ever had crepe cake but I loved it! I'm not sure if they have a dessert menu or not (we weren't asked if we wanted to see one) but I would love to go back and get that cake again! Overall I am beyond happy that I picked this spot for my birthday- I had an amazing experience and amazing food. Will definitely be back!
