    April 2023 menu

Another Viet-Cajun seafood spot near Clearview and Vets, located next to the gas station. Small, takeout place that also offers poboys and hot plates. No tables present for dine-in. Call-in orders are also available. Decided on a few pounds of crawfish just to get a teaser of the different flavors offered. There were four different flavors to choose from (garlic butter, spicy garlic butter, lemongrass & cajun peppers, and savage style) with an upcharge per pound varying the flavor chosen. As of the beginning of April 2023, regular crawfish was $5lb. I opted for the basic garlic butter and the lemongrass & cajun peppers flavors. There was a longer wait for them because they're made to order. You can hear them working the wok while you wait. I did like how they came in foil trays to keep them hot but it was a hassle carrying them because they got too hot on the bottom. I wonder if they're still served as so with larger amounts ordered? Either way, the crawfish quality was great, nicely sized. Sadly, the flavors didn't meet my expectations. I was expecting incredible flavors to hopefully be up-to-par or even better than a few other nearby competitors. However, it was a little let down. Ok, maybe not a little but a BIG let down. The garlic butter didn't have enough garlic flavor, and even though the crawfish was tossed in it, the garlic chunks were the only things stuck on the shell. You had to dunk the tail meat into the butter to taste it, in which it tasted purely of butter only. I liked the lemongrass & cajun peppers flavor better as it had a little more kick and flavor but still not a WOW factor. Here's the downfall..the crawfish were not thoroughly cooked. Maybe because they were large sized and boiled per order, the meat were still translucent and clear. The ones that were filled with the orange "fats" in them were also still translucent, clear, watery, and stringy. Stopped me right in my tracks. I ate probably almost halfway into the two trays I had before it started going downhill. Did I had the runs for hours upon hours? Yes! So disappointed. Anyways, I also tried their shrimp on bun and their shrimp fettuccine. The shrimp were nicely battered and generously portioned. As for the fettuccine special, I'd pass it. A little oily and the shrimp were not deveined. So, if you're one of those people who get grossed out by seeing and knowing the vein is still present, go ahead and skip out on all of the shrimp items. These items were long done before the crawfish were, so they weren't as hot when I got down the street. The owner apologized and stated that the Viet-Cajun flavored crawfish had to be boiled and then tossed to order, so it took much longer. So make sure you factor some waiting time into your visit. I really wanted to like this place. They're fairly new and are still slow but I hope they'll be able to gain more business in the future, especially when the gas station opens up.

Everyone has their list of best/favorite crawfish spots & this one just made it to my top 5. Both the crawfish & shrimp had just the right amount of spice, not tough or overcooked, and were a good size...no baby sized crawfish! And that garlic butter sauce is PRESSURE...I'm currently looking for snacks around my house to dip in my leftover sauce. And to top it all off, the staff was friendly & the restaurant was clean. We'll definitely be adding this one to the rotation!

Seafood Gumbo Looks like dirty dish water...contained 3 shrimps and 1 grab paw. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

Delicious! The lemongrass and cajun pepper crawfish was great. I also had the turkey neck smothered in the sauce, very good.

One restaurant that locals constantly recommended to me was Drago's Seafood in Metairie, and now I completely understand why. I ordered the charbroiled oysters along with the crawfish platter that came with crawfish étouffée, crawfish mac and cheese, and fried crawfish. Every single thing on the table was incredible. The charbroiled oysters absolutely lived up to the hype rich, buttery, smoky, and packed with flavor. The crawfish platter was just as impressive and gave me a chance to try multiple Louisiana dishes all in one meal. What really stood out to me beyond the food was the service. The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and patient with questions from someone who isn't from Louisiana and still learning the local food scene. You can tell they take pride in both the restaurant and the hospitality. The only downside is parking can get a little complicated because the place fills up fast, which honestly says a lot about how popular it is. Just plan ahead or expect a short wait finding a spot. Overall, this is one of those restaurants that feels genuinely loved by locals and absolutely worth visiting if you're traveling through the New Orleans area.

My bartender, Darryl, took fantastic care of me. Vibes in this place are very warm and cozy, I sat at the bar to the right of the entrance as you walk in. I had a half dozen char grilled oysters and a cup of seafood gumbo. I see why the oysters are so popular, they are a hit. Buttery and garlicky, the crusty bread they serve with them is a great compliment to soak up the sauce. I had originally intended on getting the chicken and andouille gumbo but Darryl steered me away from it, he said it was very salty. I trusted his word and went with the seafood gumbo instead and was very pleased with it. The flavors were fantastic, but I am gonna ding it ever so slightly as I think $8.99 is kind of an obscene price for that serving size, but at least it was good. Overall I'm very satisfied with my lunch and the service, I think if you like seafood and you're in their area, you should eat here. Edit - $9 for a pint is a little over the top too, imo. My "light lunch" was $42 before the tip.

Ordered 1/2 doz chargrilled oysters and the meat pies. For some reason I did not realized the meat pies had ground beef in them; I remembered a different flavor profile. They were good but won't order them again; too many other choices. Chargrilled oysters, on the other hand, is now on my SIL's list of top fav foods. I usually eat mine raw, but these were not too salted and not overcooked. Good job, ACME! SIL ordered the 1/2 shrimp po boy, which was on her hit list of foods for the trip and I had the 1/2 hot sausage patty po boy. Both of us had the jambalaya, which was tasty but not overpowering. Her po boy was loaded with shrimp and I had her try my po boy, since she had never heard of the hot sausage. It was a winner with her as well! We had leftovers, of course. Things were hopping by the time we finished, and it was a bit to get our to go boxes, drink refills and check out, but we'd go back in a heartbeat.

The environment reminds me a dive bar by the water, not fine dining. Pia served us promptly with our drinks, gave her suggestions on the menu pointing out her favorites, and took our appetizer order. We started with a dozen of the chargrilled oysters. They were served with a few pieces of baguette bread and lemon. It took a little while for them to come out, but when they hit the table, they were the garlicky, buttery goodness I was anticipating. For entrees we had the bowl of gumbo and plate of red beans and rice with the grilled sausage. All the staples of the NO. The food was really good and left us satisfied. I would definitely come back to try the boom boom shrimp, gator bites and boudin egg rolls !

And if your restaurant isn't serving "REAL" catfish at least advertise that on your menu. The fries were hard and overcooked. The egg rolls were semi decent.
