Just left Bon Temps, What a great place. We have been on the road for three weeks and this is one of the best meals we've had. Our server "Cindy" was outstanding! She knows the menu and her service was great. I had the short rib which was among the best ever. My wife had the steel head and was equally pleased. The staff seems to truely enjoy their work. Everyone worked together to keep the flow of customers moving. One of the managers, "Kevin" stopped by to check in us and was genuinely interested in our experience. I've been here twice. Both times I was disappointed in my entrees. The 1st trip I tried the Grilled Redfish. It was dry and disappointing. I also tried the Sage Sweet Potato Mash and loved it and a Side Salad which was standard. The 2nd trip I tried the 6 oz Filet Mignon and it was burned black on one end and raw with oozing blood on the other end. It was the worst cooked Filet I've ever been served in a restaurant. But I got the Sweet Potato Mash again and it was still great and this time I tried the House-Made Warm Honey Mustard dressing on my Side Salad and it turned from ordinary to extraordinary. Great place to eat. We were driving back to Houston from NewOrleans and stopped to have lunch. About eight miles off the beaten path, but well worth the drive. We were greeted at the door, nice gesture that shows they appreciate your visit. Bright and warm environment. A mix of wood, brick and aluminum ceiling. You walk in and face a great bar space. The service and food are outstanding. We had the baby back ribs and sweet honey chili chicken, both delicious. And The sweet potato mash was so goooood. We're from California and I can't wait to stop here again on another trip with our kids next time. We will definitely seek this place whenever we pass through. read more

Like many have said for this restaurant, thank goodness for Yelp, otherwise my family and I wouldn't have known this place existed. I myself had the Swamp Legs, having never had duck or alligator before, and to say I was satisfied would be an understatement. The food was GREAT. The alligator had a tangy spiciness while the duck was on the sweeter side. And to top it off, my family and I had the Creme Brulee Cheesecake together and that was to DIE FOR. We dined here for my wife's birthday and it being our first visit as well. The entire staff was always on top of us, assuring that we were well taken care of at every moment of our visit. Our waiter was funny and very professional. He suggested entrees at our request and up-saled as required, needless to say it was greatly appreciated. My wife and I shared the assorted meat/fish board for two, while our son and daughter had the fish tacos and the Crawfish ettoufe potpie respectively. The manager or owner took the time to visit with us on whether we were satisfied with the overall experience here. This means alot more than just asking how is the dinner, when he shared how each dish was chosen for menu. I was in town for a wedding, my very first time ever to Louisiana, and if I ever come back, this will be the first place I visit. I have taken my family here a few times and we have enjoyed the food each time. The martini's are AWESOME. Careful if you order a double cheeseburger because that thing is unbelievably massive. Most of the other offerings have more moderate serving sizes though. My favorite is the shrimp and lump crab pasta. The service is a bit slow even when they are not overly busy. The only other complaint I would have is that due to the service time it is not the best place to go with young children or toddlers. Bon Temps was one of the few places open during the ice and snow, so thumbs up for that. The staff were fantastic. Cleile was super - and everyone was just really good. I had the gumbo - which was good - not great. I also had the shrimp and Tasso pasta topped with crab meat. A lot of shrimp in the dish - but the sauce was the focal point. It was a good portion size - and everything was good - but the cream sauce was just okay to me - and there was so much of it, it overpowered everything else. Despite all the positive yelp reviews this eatery fell short of our expectations. It was happy hour which meant half off mojitos but zero savings on anything else. I ordered the house special and could not taste any rum. We started with the boudin and sausage board which arrived quickly w 2 sauces. The boudin was good and the chicken/jalapeño very dry with barely a kick. The third was a very mild pork sausage that was good with the spicy creole mustard. The appetizer is not served on a board but a dinner plate and includes 2 pieces of garlic bread. I chose the house special, crawfish pot pie which was described as a flaky pastry and creamy filling. The pastry was light and delicious but the filling was very dry and luke warm. It lacked spice and was really disappointing. The spicy chicken w a side of Brussel sprouts was the best option this night. Service was prompt and professional. Prices are higher then others in this area. Wow, my husband and I, we just found this hidden gem in Lafayette. On our way to FL, we passed by Louisiana and found this restaurant on Yelp. Although it located 8 miles off I-10, but, it's worth a trip. Since we were in Louisiana, I ordered a Cajun Jerk Chicken, it's a mesquite grilled chicken breast with blackening seasoning, basted with mango puree, topped with shredded cheddar and mango salsa, served over mashed sweet potato with sage and grilled veggies (you can choose from variety of sides order). It was heavenly good. Lol. Chicken breast was tendered and tasty. Mashed sweet potato was creamy and perfectly seasoning. My husband ordered a Bon Temps baby back ribs, it was so juicy, tasty and tendered that bones were falling off. It came with 2 sides order as well. I initially ordered shrimp & grits and asked to make sure it didn't have bacon, and the waitress told me it didn't. Then she came back to say they were out of shrimp & grits, so I quickly chose another entree, shrimp & tasso pasta. While I definitely should not have ordered something I'd never heard of (tasso) without asking what it was, the waitress didn't warn me that tasso was crumbled pork, even though I'd asked her to confirm the shrimp & grits weren't made with bacon just minutes before. She also didn't take the pasta off the bill when I couldn't eat it. It was just unpleasant and inconsiderate service. The one pro was the jalapeño cheddar grits, which were outstanding. read more
