I'm a really picky eater.... but this food was AMAZING!!! It's pricey, but everything my whole family ordered tasted wonderful!

This used to be one of our favorite places in town. Lately, the food quality seems to have declined and the wait staff has seemed less than attentive. My husband and I almost always split the boucherie board. Sausage and boudin is and always has been top notch, but the steak and tuna were just lackluster. Desserts seemed frozen and unimaginative. Kind of makes me sad to lose another local place to frozen, mass produced, lesser quality food. read more

This place was so good and I can't wait to be back through Lafayette to eat here again. We had a large group of 14 adults for lunch yesterday and they were so accommodating (we called ahead for seating as advised by hostess.) Naturally with a big group we tried quite a few apps, a variety of entrees, and both desserts. The favorite among the apps were definitely the tasso stuffed mushrooms and crab cake--thanks to our server for recommending we try the latter! All of us enjoyed our entrees and portions were large. I enjoy the low carb aspect of many of the dinner items. The creole Cobb salad is a favorite, I just wish they put more bacon in it.

Dinner here recently with my wife. Sat at the bar. Bar tender was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Atmosphere was bar/restaurant-ish but neither intruded on the other. Ordered the crawfish pot pie, Cobb salad and Brussels sprouts. All delicious and very generous portions. Couldn't finish the crawfish pot pie; just too rich. Crust on pot pie was a meal by itself and reminds me of homemade. Salad was loaded with delicious seafood and sprouts were braised perfect. A great, small restaurant atmosphere. Bon Temps Grill offers a country cajun cuisine with great portions and wonderful ingredients. I had a lemon drop martini with a crab cake appetizer. The crab cake was superb. My entree was the popular crawfish etouffee pot pie, and I was not disappointed in the least. An all around great experience. Im stuffed and satisfied! I feel lied to because of the high rating for this place. It's why we chose it, and it's mostly lies. Unless folks in Lafayette don't actually know what good Cajun food is. But I doubt this is true. This is also hard review to write, as the staff was so wonderful and the manager was so proud and passionate of this spot . The service was great, everyone was friendly and that brought it up to 3 stars from 2. But I just can't give it anymore. The food was not good. It was so close though. Like the frogs legs could have been great if there was only a small amount of sauce to accompany them. Instead they were just barely peeking thier heads above an ocean of butter and cream sauce. For real it was SOOO much sauce! Same with the shrimp and grits. Sooo much salty gravy on top! They would have been just delicious without any of that. The crawfish pie was huge, but ok. I just wasn't feeling it as I was already over sauced and underwhelmed. The Brussels sprouts were good though. And like I already mentioned, the staff and service are both top notch. read more

We ordered takeout and had a great meal. We ordered the shrimp remoulade appetizer to add to our home-made green salad, a shrimp etoufee pot pie and the bread pudding. The pot pie was plenty for two of us and very tasty. The bread pudding was enormous and they provided the sauce and ice cream in separate containers on the side. Delicious! read more

My husband I came because of the raving reviews. We came for the crab cakes and they were out. I got the crawfish etouffee and the top looked cooked but once I started eating it the dough was raw inedible. My husband ordered the gumbo and it was just a shallow plate of soup not even filled to the top and tasted bland. I had really high hopes considering we were so hungry from driving from Pensacola. I'm not one to write a negative review but Unfortunately the food was really disappointing. read more

I'm not privy to quality creole/cajun cuisine, where I'm from, so I was blown away with the flavor. I opted for the swamp legs as an appetizer (duck drums and bbq'd alligator legs) and the shrimp and Tasso pasta. Incredible flavor. Incredibly fresh. I had plenty leftovers. The service from the waitress was fantastic. Very friendly, informative, and hardworking. I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot of money here the next 2 months I'm in town. I'm a bit biased because they are a client of mine but the food is outstanding here. I had the frog and alligator legs the other day and they were so delicious! The service was great and the Crawfish Ettouffee Pot Pie was amazing. This delicious dish is everything you want in a pot pie but more. Crawfish was in every single bite and the puffed pastry crust was a perfect golden brown. At the suggestion of my server, I had the sage sweet potatoes as my side. Don't let the sage scare you. I am not a sage fan, but I am now a fan of this sweet potato dish. If I ever find myself in Lafayette again, I will definitely visit Bon Temps Grill again! read more

My wife and I came here on our anniversary. Our waiter, Robert, made the drinks and the specials sound like ambrosia. I was sold as soon as he came to the Doria. The martini I had was fantastic, and I don't even like martinis. When the Doria came out, I was in heaven. It was layered with Boudin sausage, alligator, and a skewer on top. I got the country fryers, which was their version of fries, and dipped them in the Boudin sausage. I could've eaten that alone and been happy, but the alligator on top of it was the best. My wife said that she wanted the puff pastry pie crust from the crawfish pot pie on everything she ever ate from that point forward. Stopped there on a day trip. I'm Baton Rouge native, but I could tell that this place had a different flair than the surrounding areas. I had shrimp po-boy and the presentation on the dish was fantastic. Large portioned, as well as spicy peanuts breading on the shrimp as well as perfectly seasoned potatoes made for a very interesting and wonderful experience. The prices for entrées were very reasonable but I will say that the crab cake we had, while delicious, was overpriced at $8 but I expect that of anywhere that has appetizers. read more

Visiting from out of town, from Houston. I don't presume this place is high-class, fine dining; however, the presentation of the food and flavors indicate that someone in the back gives a damn about the food they send out front, which is quite nice. I got the blackened tilapia and my wife got the Cajun jerk chicken, we were both quite happy (though the tilapia was better, sorry dear). Had I known, I would have asked the back to choose the sauce- the satsuma butter was fantastic though- and the side- though my choice of jalapeño grits was also strong. All I can say about this place is wow!! The food here is freaking amazing!! Me and my mom where hanging out in Lafayette for my birthday and we where looking for a good Cajun restaurant to go to and found this place on yelp and read the reviews and decided to try it. We are from Baton Rouge where there is not to many Cajun restaurants. We started out with the sausage and boudin appetizer it was so good it came with spicy Dijon mustard to dip the sausage in. The sausage was flavorful and the boudin was very good. For my meal I got the short ribs served with jalapeño cheese grits and I got a side of the spicy red potatoes. The short ribs where very tender they melted in my mouth. The grits where cheesy and had a good jalapeño flavor. The potatoes where seasoned with crab boil which I loved. The owners of this restaurant know what they are doing. I will definitely be coming back if I am in the Lafayette area again. read more

This little place is well worth the visit if you happen to be in Lafayette, LA. So glad I decided to stop in during a business trip. Cheerful and friendly staff, excellent service and great food! My experience began with the lump crab cake. One of the best I've had by far, and highly recommended. Our group of around 30 people from MS called about an hour ahead of time and we were able to be accommodated. In town for a soccer tournament, boys and parents were glad to find such a great local place. The service we received was absolutely magnificent! Drinks & food orders were all promptly and cheerfully delivered, which was doubly impressive with the size of our group! My shrimp& sausage jambalaya was delicious, as was my husband's ribeye. We drove 1,687 miles to come eat here and arrived at 2:30 in the afternoon on a hot, billowy cloud day! There wasn't a single car in the lot, but we could see the neon beer logo signs through the darkly tinted windows and felt so relieved; the grill was open! The staff greeted us with open collars, heaving breasts and genuine, sincere smiles. The food is amazing and other than deep fried! My best friend and I are on a roadtrip from Corpus Christi, TX to Charleston, SC. Lafayette was on the way and after reading the reviews for just about every restaurant in town, we decided on Bon Temps Grill. First of all the decor is awesome. The ceiling is made from the reclaimed wood of a fish house on the coast. Everyone that works here is incredibly nice and helpful. Our server was a man named Shawn, and he was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and I basically had him pick my food for me. And he didn't disappoint. The food was some of the best I've ever had. We had boudin and the gumbo for appetizers. The gumbo was perfect with just the right amount of spice. Then we had the crawfish etouffee pot pie and the apple and tasso stuffed pork chop. I don't even like seafood, but the pot pie was amazing. And the pork chop was to die for. Thank you for a great experience! We will definitely be back someday! read more

Ate at Bon Temps last night and it was fantastic. I got the Seafood Creole Cobb salad and my husband got the Ribeye. The salad was delicious and the steak was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The service was excellent and the atmosphere very laid back and family friendly.
