Amazing spaces in this giant hotel and this bar is at the top of the list! You've seen this bar in so many movies, shows and videos! Cocktails always on point, bar tender was cool and very nice the other night, but I was bummed no snacks other than bags of chips... This place is always on my DTLA list! Stayed at Checkers across the street because the reservation lady at Biltmore couldn't confirm room location, this bar is still super convenient!

Sat in the bar area and immediately found myself admiring the stunning architectural details that exude Old Hollywood charm. The bar was lively with a good mix of locals and hotel guests unwinding for the evening (or getting the evening started). THE FOOD. - Carne Asada Fries. A flavorful, indulgent shareable plate that hits all the right notes; salty, creamy, and fresh. - Chicken Quesadilla. Served on a spinach tortilla with tender chicken, pico de gallo, chipotle sour cream, and salsa verde. Nicely balanced and satisfying without feeling too heavy. - Pepperoni Chips. Literally crispy pepperoni slices dusted with parsley and served with ranch. Simple, fun, and surprisingly addictive -- though definitely a novelty item. THE DRINKS. - Rich and Nostalgic. A fruity and nutty cocktail that's smooth and sweet upfront, finishing with a refreshing tartness. - Pineapple Juice. Non-alcoholic, light, and sweet. Perfect palate cleanser if you're skipping the booze. THE PARKING. If you're just dropping by the restaurant (not staying overnight at the hotel) and did self-parking, the cost will be $15 with validation. Valet parking is also available at $35 with validation. THE VERDICT. A great spot for a nightcap and a few appetizers. Between the historic ambiance and the lively bar energy, the Gallery Bar & Grill is well worth the experience.

Our favorite LA bar. Yes it is expensive, but so classic and so beautiful. The orchids are a wonderful accent to the classic decor.Take a stroll to the restrooms to view the Academy Awards photos in the hallway, from Shirley Temple to Henry Fonda to all the Hollywood stars of the 1920s and 1930s. Ask the servers about the history, and enjoy. Cheeseboard is amazing.

The building is a work of art and I love the layout here. It's a place to unwind and have a drink or two. It's not noisy so you can actually have a conversation with your party. Really enjoyed my drinks. I couldn't ask for anything better, really.

Came to the Biltmore for a magic show and got pre show drinks beforehand and stayed for dinner afterwards. The bar itself was beautiful, especially the back area off to the side. Gorgeous art and molding covered the entire area. If you're going to dine in, I would recommend going to the back as it's more private and has real tables. Veggie Pasta - Perfectly al dente penne with a light tomato sauce. The veggies were cut up small and seasoned well. I wished there was a little more than they provided but the dish as a whole was still very tasty! Chocolate Tiramisu - Loved it! Classic chocolate berry combo. When it works it works! Flavors were so rich. Pistachio Tiramisu - My fiancé liked this dessert a little more than I did. The berry compote was a little confusing to me with the flavors of the tiramisu. To each their own though! The service was quick and our food came out timely. Total props to the waiters! There were only about 3 serving a whole bar and dining room area. They were super attentive, complete pros! Loved my experience here!

SoOooo Sad to leave this review, namely because I love the art and the gorgeousness and glory of the historic biltmore hotel. I need to be honest though, I have a HUGE fear of drinking glass or metal. I had ordered a French kiss and boyfriend ordered and old fashioned. The waitress delivered our drinks and I was about to take a picture and sip the drink when I noticed a large portion of the glass was broken off the rim and in the drink. I usually take photos of every drink and food for reviewing on yelp, but in my panic I ran to the bar with my drink to inform the bartender that this glass was broken with glass in it. Instead of apologizing, he told me the waitress should've checked before she handed it to me. He threw it away to make a new one and she brought it to me. I'm a bartender, I always look at my glassware as I make my cocktails for customers. This was really not good, and hearing no apology on his behalf was baffling to me. If I drank that I could be severely injured and hospitalized. I didn't feel like drinking the second drink because I was nervous and apprehensive after the glass experience. The waitress never checked in on us, and avoided us for twenty minutes after that even with less than half capacity in the bar. Then, She brought the bill, which had included the tip in it, Two drinks, the total was 67$ Listen, I don't mind treating myself to nice things, and the biltmore is not cheap, BUT CUSTOMER SERVICE is number 1 and the right thing to do would have been not to charge me for the drink after the glass situation, I think it was really wrong. This was absolutely traumatic for me as I've had a fear of swallowing hazardous items as it's happened in the past and I was hospitalized due to kitchen staff not paying attention so now, my ptsd is now full on. I'm deeply disappointed and I hope that the staff will make more attempts to be cautious for their patrons safety.

The Gallery Bar and Cognac Room is one of the coolest bars in all of DTLA. I've been coming here for years and it never fails to impress. The room is said to be a reproduction of the royal hall where Queen Isabella first heard of Columbus' discovery of America. It has been host to many films and TV shows throughout the years, including, 'Mad Men', 'Along Came Polly' and 'Bosch'. I always visit when I'm in town. Just know that a couple of drinks can easily set you back $60 bucks (with tax and an added 20% gratuity).

The bar is inside the Biltmore next to the lobby. We had our drinks in a luxurious ambiance. Friendly service. Upon our exit towards Pershing Square we saw high tea being served. They also host Candlelit performances here. Would be a beautiful setting for that event. Additionally there was a flyer at the bar announcing a magic show.

The Gallery Bar off the lobby of the Biltmore Hotel is a pleasure to drink at. The decor and atmosphere make you feel the bygone times when movie stars and industrialists rubbed elbows at glittering water holes like the Gallery Bar. Evening attire is no longer required and ladies can drink unescorted, so I guess some things are better now... The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. We'll crafted cocktails and a good selection of wines and beers are served. Comfortable seating and restrained lighting make this a nice place to have a nightcap.

Came to the Biltmore for a concert and a nights stay and decided to hit up this Art Deco old school bar. Drinks were on the high end but were delicious. Forgot Bartenders name, but his drinks and especially his customer service were excellent. Shrimp cocktail was good as was the Biltmore burger and shrimp linguini.

Long been a fan of The Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles and the gorgeous room and business inside known as "The Gallery Bar & Cognac Room," all of which showcase the landmark and historical aspects of the legendary Los Angeles establishment... The Gallery Bar in particular just oozes old school class and that bygone era design I so love that, these days, is really only found in old photographs and noir films. But the ambiance and gorgeous ceilings, what with their detailing, are not the only attractions here: the food and service are excellent too. On my most recent visit, my date and I use my 20% off "birthday month" discount via "The Millenium Program" to enjoy a small feast that consisted of what you see in the pictures: a tuna sushi appetizer and two cokes, one Biltmore Burger, the salmon dinner, and a shared chocolate cake-mousse dome w berries for dessert. The total bill with discount was under $100 and w tip came to about $120!! A deal, if you ask me... The highlights of the meal were the Biltmore Burger my date ordered: flavorful and uniquely built up w a tasty angus beef patty, some good cheeses, and grilled onions (something I love!), it really was excellent and something I will order on my own next time. I enjoyed my salmon dinner too, though it might've been a tad overcooked. Still, the healthy portion and savory beurre blanc sauce were tasty, as were the potatoes and the broccoli rabe, something I wish more restaurants would incorporate as a side over mere broccoli. Also of note, were the dessert and the appetizer: this tuna wasabi sushi mound with a generous mix-in of avocado and herbs is the way to go here. Easily shared, the crunchy and large chips are just perfect for the moist and flavorful tuna. The chocolate mousse-cake dome dessert was a delicious finale, if a bit small... best for one person, I'd offer. All in all, I have only the highest of praise for the service by, I think, "Albert," and the attentive bartenders as well as the conscientious choice to try to maintain the beauty of this space while accommodating a newer clientele that want to watch sporting events, the likes of which are positioned up high so as to not distract from the experience people like me are looking for here. I also appreciate that they do not blast the music or the TV noise so patrons can converse easily and hear one another... I could nitpick a few things here or there maybe, like I'd appreciate a better liquor selection in the Whisk(e)y department, but why go there? The Gallery Bar is a pleasure to visit and I'm giving it my highest endorsement.

Have been at the Gallery Bar in the Biltmore Hotel many times over the years. As many others have also mentioned, the Gallery Bar is one of the most attractive bars in the United States. Always have a good time there. As I have champagne when I go there, cannot comment on any of the other drinks available there. Last night they were out of the 187ml bottles of Mumm Napa Brut, so had another champagne. Forgot the name, but it was very good. Although I haven't had all the different champagnes available at the Gallery Bar, I'm sure they are all very good, so you can order any of them without worrying about how it will be. Last night my friend had a pretzel. I had a little piece of it, which I dipped in the mustard. Pretzels are another thing I don't know much about as I seldom have any, but I liked my little piece of pretzel.

This classy lounge is located inside the Millennium Biltmore Hotel. It extends the ornate and elegance of the hotel right into the bar itself. My friend and I were celebrating a family members upcoming wedding which was happening the following day. This is where they had the rehearsal party complete with dinner and of course, drinks! The atmosphere was romantic in the lighting department, but far from quiet and relaxing! In fact the participants were having a grand time drinking and socializing to the max! The staff did a great job giving patrons plenty of attention with generous pours and tasty cocktails. I even tried some of the cognacs that were set out for taste testing! I turned out to be a light weight in that department, but it was fun giving it a go! The Gallery Bar turned out to be a nice and enjoyable addition to our hotel amenities!

How much is the valet parking?

Can you walk up to the bar without a reservation?

I've never had a reservation... some times of evening seating is limited but we've always been able to get a seat.

Can you have private parties here?

The Biltmore LA has many private ballrooms and areas to host private events. The Gallery Bar has a side area that I believe can be reserved for a private event .

Are teens allowed to accompany adults (since food is served)?

This spot opened about a year ago, and has a cool speakeasy style entrance at the Highland Park Bowl bowling alley. It is a small space, and I would highly recommend making a reservation on Resy. You have 90 minutes to drink and dine. I parked behind the bowling alley where there is a medium sized pay parking lot. Park in a space, remember your space number painted on the ground, and go to the pay station at the end of the lot. I found the parking machine to be extremely finicky as did other people. After ten minutes of failure, I ended up moving my car to another space, and then it worked. This has nothing to do with the Lucky Tiki, but FYI if you park there. We walked around to the front of the bowling alley, and checked in. Seating options include at the bar, tiki hut booths, and high top tables. The décor inside is a tiki lovers paradise. The room has a high ceiling with many tiki lamps, floats, puffer fish, tiki huts, thatch, ropes, barrels, netting, carvings, a hanging canoe, and a large tiki right in the middle of the space. In addition to the great décor, when you order certain drinks, special effects are triggered. There was also great tiki music playing all evening. We sat at the bar since we always enjoy talking to the bartenders. We actually ran into Skipper Christian in the parking lot on the way in, and he ended up being our main bartender, with Nick and Jo also working behind the bar. We put in a food order right away. The chicken potstickers ($12) came with five tasty bites, and the garlic teriyaki dipping sauce was good. We also had the giant pretzel ($16) which comes with mustard, beer cheese, and ranch sauces. This was excellent, and the perfect filling snack before a bunch of drinks. My first drink was the Siren's Song (Flor de Cana Eco rum, lemon juice, cassis, Oloroso sherry, apricot foam topper, $19). This drink is served in a great mermaid with skull mug and triggers special sound effects and bubbles fill the air. Those bubbles on top of the drink had a great light citrusy apricot flavor, probably the best flavored bubbles I've ever had. The drink itself was very good and balanced with some complexity. She wasn't sure what to order at first, and Christian asked her what flavors she liked. He ended up making a spin on a Tradewinds with some mango and pineapple to go along with the apricot and coconut. It was nicely balanced and not too sweet, even with all that fruit in there. My second drink was the Sun of Suns (Tierra de Acre mezcal, coconut cream, Giffard mango liqueur, pineapple juice, lime juice, $17). This was coconut and pineapple forward with some good smokiness in the background. Her second drink was the Whatever Floats Your Boat (Ford's gin, lemon juice, velvet falernum, orgeat, passion fruit syrup, guava soda, topped with hazelnut passion fruit foam, $19). It is served in a cool boat mug, and triggers thunder sound effects and lighted mechanical Polynesian tiki characters paddling a canoe over the bar. This was another good balanced drink. It was a little gin forward and the passion fruit popped out, maybe from being both in the drink and the foam top. That creamy hazelnut passion fruit form on top is delicious. I'd happily have a glass of that on its own. We were still a little hungry so we ordered the Hawaiian pizza (marinara, diced pepperoni, red onion, pineapple chunks, hot capicola ham, $16). It was another good tasting, perfectly sized snack, and the crust was light and airy. We were already fifteen minutes over our time limit, but we got the green light to stay longer to order a third drink to share. We ordered the Tiki Diablo (Flor de Cana Eco rum, Worthy Park 109 rum, Alma Tepecha chile liqueur, orange juice, lime juice, mango syrup, guava soda, $24). This drink serves two people, is served in a cool volcano bowl with glowing red lava around it, and comes with a fire show. Unfortunately, right after it was served, the host came over and said we were over our time and had to leave shortly. Christian made up for it by giving us two tall pours to go enjoy in the bowling alley bar area which was fine. We were happy we got some extra time inside. The drink was also very good, balanced with a little complexity. We had a great time. There is so much great décor to look at. The drinks and food were very good, and some of the the drink presentations and special effects were the icing on the cake. All of the bartenders were very friendly and a lot of fun. We purchased up a few zombie glasses to take home as a souvenir. I'd definitely recommend visiting the Lucky Tiki in Highland Park!

This is how we ended up at Thunderbolt, a buzzy bar in Echo Park, just far enough away that we'd never made our way over. I loved it immediately. Thunderbolt has the friendly, comfortable atmosphere of a neighborhood bar and the hip aesthetic and high-level cocktails of a millennial boozer destination. (Not that young people can't or shouldn't hang out here, but it seems especially geared toward people like us, who drank at Walker Inn a decade ago.) We ended up sitting next to a guy who regularly drives up from Palos Verdes. I guess the place gets pretty busy, but it was ideal on a Sunday night. Happening but not crowded, with just enough space at the bar for us to grab two seats together. The bartender was great, super helpful and welcoming. He also made excellent drinks. Thunderbolt is one of those bars with an encyclopedic illustrated book for a menu. Not a long menu, just a detailed one, with a lot of information available about each drink. We got a Liquid Picnic and a Barcelonnette--just one round to close out the weekend. Both were delicious. The Liquid Picnic was a smooth, savory gin martini made with London dry gin, tomato, citron, vermouth, rosemary, and black pepper. I learned from the book that it used clarified tomato water. (There was also further reading about the clarification process.) The Barcelonnette was a mezcal sour with Suze, passionfruit, and lime, the foam made without egg white through some geeky mixologist process. Thunderbolt is not our neighborhood bar, but we plan to go back when we can to check out the rest of the menu. It's a wonderful place, well worth a jaunt on the freeway.
