This brought me back to my life in Korea where I ate fried chicken once a week. The crunchiness of the chicken was so good and the flavors were too yummy. I was skeptical since opening weekend at Stapleton was lacking but I gave it a shot after finding out how close this Bonchon is to my house. The avocado salmon ball is like a salad. It's a good mixture of the ingredients without any one ingredient lacking- sometimes you have too much and not enough salmon- but this ball was just perfect. The taoyaoki (sorry if I misspelled it) was so delicious. I remember when I was able to just order a snack on the streets in Korea for $5 so this was lovely. So I love Bonchon almost anywhere, but this location is not even close to ready for prime time, especially during Corona times. I couldn't have been more excited for it to open closer to us, but they have a lot to work out here. It's a chain, so the chicken is solid and the flavors and textures are impossible for other chains to replicate. In general, Bonchon has some of the best Korean fried chicken you can get anywhere. That being said, they're packing their space, which isn't ventilated at all, nearly to capacity during a time when that's absolutely not supposed to be the case. When we were put back to back with two tables of people, that didn't seem ok. We ended up leaving and taking our food to go to create space for everyone, and our order was incorrect when we got home. I love me some Bonchon, but this will be a to-go only location for us until they start actually following protocols. Fingers crossed it'll get better! read more

This is a wonderful take on the traditional bibimbap. It comes in a stone bowl which makes the experience even more authentic. The vegetables were fresh and crunchy. The most delightful (and surprising) add on was the quinoa! It was definitely a welcomed treat. The bowl comes with an abundant side of spicy sauce. Pro tip ... wait a little for the rice at the bottom of the bowl to crisp up! It is the best part. The portion was huge and I barely put a dent in it. There will be plenty leftover's. The service was great and staff checked on me periodically and made sure I did not need anything additional. read more

I know that this is a smaller chain that has random locations, but I couldn't be happier that there is one in Denver. I consistently tell friends that they have to come here, and I wasn't let down when I finally got to eat here. The restaurant is small, but not overcrowded. The server immediately came over and asked what I needed, and gave recommendations, so no issues at all. But I came here for the food. The chicken is amazing. We had been craving Korean Fried Chicken for a while, and we usually go to Bonchon Denver-Northfield, but came here since we were in the area. We hadn't been to Bonchon since pre-pandemic. Being a big fan of Korean Fried Chicken, we were excited to be back. Location was clean, service was friendly. This raised my rating to be "ok" vs "could have been better". We ordered, we were explained the menu (which we knew) and not rushed, and were surprised that the food was out within 5 minutes. I got the wings, it was hot, but what makes Korean Fried Chicken so special, IMHO, is that corn starch light coating. This felt/tasted like it was heavier. The sauces were the disappointment. I expected the soy garlic to have a soy and garlic taste. It was full on garlic, and what tasted like a tomato base. Enough that when it was put in front of me, I thought it was spicy, because it was so red. It wasn't bad, but it was ok - and ok enough not to get again. The Mr got the strips, spicy, and he said it was spicy, but almost like a spicy bbq sauce, also tomato heavy, not the sambal or gochujang he remembered. He almost felt that Smashburger Chicken Tenders had better flavor, and not as dry. The seasoned fries were good, hot and crunchy. Scrumptiously spicy! Delicious food, quick service, steady stream of customers for late afternoon lunch. Tried the spicy wings and sweet chili (not on the menu) both were excellent. The coleslaw was also a tasty side. The takoyaki octopus dumplings are mushy on the inside, so if you don't like that texture, pass on this. They were tasty but the octopus was a little chewy. I have been dying to go here as I have heard great things about bonchon. However I was extremely disappointed. The soy garlic was wayyy too salty and I did not enjoy it. The spicy was good though. The shrimp siu Mai is not worth it as it is just the frozen version that they steam it is very mushy inside so I do not recommend. I definitely like the strips more than the boneless as those were a little to dry. The service was not very good even though it was not busy, our water was never refilled as well as it took forever just to order our food when we were the only customers in. Even though they were supposed to have every other table for covid 19 they did not do that. I probably will not come back to this location. read more

First time having BonChon and it was decent fried chicken. The chicken is very light and crunchy. I would say that it's a cross between beer batter and a tempura batter. Definitely go for the spicy chicken, though they could've used more sauce, especially on the drumsticks. The spicy sauce was surprisingly more on the savory side and tasted slightly like Shin Ramyun seasoning. They don't do sauce on the side, so don't get plain wings. This was a mistake, but luckily we had other sauces in hand. I'm only giving it 3 stars due to the following detractors: 1. The chicken is not marinated at all. Literally plain chicken dipped in plain batter. The flavor comes from whatever sauce you choose. This chicken could've been 10x better even if it was brine in a simple salt solution. 2. They only do drumsticks and wings, or boneless. This is really personally preference, but the drumstick is my least favorite part of the chicken. I like the Korean fried chicken where they use the entire chicken. My boyfriend and I shared the family meal which was more than enough food. We had a lot of leftovers. The fried were a standout. They were super crunchy even after sitting in a bag for take out. We had some pickled radish in the side and it seemed to be more vinegary than other places. I prefer my radish on the sweet side, but not terrible. Overall, pretty decent fried chicken if you enjoy your wings and drumsticks. read more

I first heard of Bonchon when I was in college in Boston, and was a frequent there. So when I learned that there was a new Bonchon in the Cornerstar plaza near my house, I was super excited (despite having become vegetarian...) and told my boyfriend (who does eat meat) that we'd have to try it out sometime. He noted that the chicken was very high quality, with a true chicken texture - nothing like a "McNuggets" inside. He also said the flavor of the sauce, he got the soy one, was tasty (he didn't try the spicy one). We also ordered a side of fries and were pleasantly surprised by how crispy they were, even though we ate them a bit later as we ordered our food to go. I ordered the fried rice, which was okay. The rice was very bell peppery, which I didn't mind, but overly oily. When I warmed up my leftovers the next day the bottom of my tray was just drenched in oil, which didn't sit super well. I would come back here again, but would likely switch up my order to something else. There are a couple vege-friendly options, but mainly the menu is catered towards meat owners. read more

Amazing food and service. I saw they have a new menu item called pop corn chicken. It is salt and pepper flavored deep-fried chicken. It was so flavorful and went really well with my fried rice. Good thing they do a mixed combo with both sauces with cute little dividers so you don't mix up the sauces. I used to really like Bonchon...now it's...meh. I spent a few years in NorCal, and used to drive 45+ mins each way from Roseville down to Elk Grove to eat at the only location in SacTown. Then I followed when they expanded to Arden (closer, awesome!), and finally when they opened in Natomas, it was a weekly lunch thing for us at the office after I introduced it to everyone at work. When they introduced their first location in CO, and I was HELLA excited to introduce friends to one of my fav chicken places in the world, and they all agreed. And then they opened a closer location (woot woot!) and it became a regular thing again for us; through it all, the quality of their product never wavered...until 2022. They changed their strips from actual chicken to god damn machine-separated-pink-paste chicken. WTAF?! My gf and I were hella surprised because it was such a disappointment to go from real chicken that taste good and has value to this discount brand turd-nugget that you call chicken strips. Why in the world would anyone pay $1.67/strip ($40.xx for 24 strips at time of review) that you could get a 50ct bag for $6-7 at a grocery store or $5 for 20 at McDs? The outcome is that the "chicken" feels super rubbery, and because the shit is pre-breaded/par-fried, the sauce doesn't stick to the ley lines where you get the crunch, but rather congeals onto spots that is akin to you getting punched by Mike Tyson with concentrated flavor; no bueno. I get inflation and increasing product costs, but whomever sold you guys this idea to sub for an inferior product needs to be checked for sanity. This was the nail on the coffin for us for Bonchon, sadly. tl;dr - disappointing changes from real chicken to pre-made turd strips that is unredeemably bad. No more. read more

We tried a little of everything and it was all fantastic! The bulgogi and fried rice were delicious. The chicken was crispy and perfectly cooked. We will be back for more soy garlic wings. I decided to add the seasoned fries and they were also so good. My 6-year old enjoyed everything so that will have me coming back definitely. It was a nice change of pace as far takeout. We did curbside which as another reviewer mentioned can be a little of hassle since they didn't have any reserved spots. That won't stop me from coming again though. The appetizers are where it's at here. While the chicken was delicious as the main course, the apps blew me away. Everything tasted fresh and you could tell they used high quality ingredients. Came in after seeing Daym Drops on YouTube and it is the best fried chicken I have ever eaten. The wings and the regular fried chicken were top notch crispy flavorful moist the absolute best in its own league. If you like spicy or more of a sweet flavor it's all good.
