The Atmosphere is definitely my favorite aspect besides the food and they do rotate their menu according to the seasons. Took my girlfriend here for Valentines Day and we ordered Shishito pepper Brussels sprouts, pork belly bao buns, Xiao Long Bao, and the cheeseburger dumplings. Man, I'm already wanting to go back. We also had some Valentine's Day themed cocktails that were pretty good. The waiters and bartenders were so great at giving recommendations for cocktail preferences and were attentive to us. We originally decided to give this place a try because we went to the Avalanche game and it was one of few open late that was not fast food. The shumai and pork buns came out first and really heightened our expectations. Both were delicious. The sauce that came with the shu mai is one of my favorites that I have ever tried. The pork buns are served with a spicy sauce which my dad liked but I decided to pass on. After that, we continued to get more and more disappointed. The Kung Pao Shroom Trio was not our favorite. The sauce on top was lacking and this dish really needs some protein. We also did not enjoy the cheeseburger dumplings. They did not have any cheese in them and the spicy mustard on top did not go with what we felt like the theme of the dish should be. I will say that every dish has great presentation. When we went, it was late. However, none of the servers seemed extremely interested in helping and they would drop items and quickly leave before you could say anything. They do have an online order and pay system which is really nice and the food comes out quickly. They do keep your sodas filled. The ambiance is definitely more bar like (again, makes sense since it was late) since they have a bar upstairs. Not a place for kids. The servers were attentive and great - highlight of the experience. The food looked good on paper but unfortunately weren't impressive. We ordered two $20 pots of tea which we were expecting to be amazing but they were nothing special. For food, we had the big on the pig dumplings, pork xiao long bao soup dumplings and hot and sour soup. The dumplings were good but not worth it for the price. Having been regulars at a different downtown restaurant for our pre-show dinners & cocktails, we were ready to switch it up. Bao Brewhouse offers a fun, casual lively ambiance. Seating in the downstairs/ bar is walk in, no reservations. We were able to snag a table for 2 on a recent winter Saturday evening, arriving just before 5. From our vantage point we could watch the bartenders working their magic, efficiently in near-constant motion. My aviation showed off her lovely lavender hue and tasted good, too. I also tried their version of a rye Old Fashioned which was fine but not mind-blowing. For food we shared the DIY veggie spring rolls. Tasty, though a bit messy. We also ordered the spicy Yaki-Soba and the maple miso chicken skewers, which comes with rice. The food all tasted great and we left a bit overstuffed. (Our fault!). It's a fun change of pace from our usual. The prices feel a bit high. The serving style is such that you order via QR code on the table, and open a toast tab. An assortment of servers deliver your orders and freshen waters. It works, we never felt neglected. Everyone was friendly. Food was decent, but something is seriously wrong with the management of this restaurant. We had a reservation at 6:45, and did not got seated until around 7:05 because there was not a hostess. We heard them yelling at the bottom to get a hostess and saw her come in late. In addition, we wanted to get the Tuesday dumpling deal that has been advertised and we specifically called ahead about. We had a 3 hour dinner and I got two orders of mushroom dumplings, as I don't eat pork. Waiting that long for 5 dumplings (literally 1.5hrs) is insane. Felt bad for the sever because he came out and said their steamer broke and they only have a couple. AT A DUMPLING/DIM SUM RESTAURANT! This dumpling house in LoDo completely blew me away! The atmosphere is absolutely perfect -- modern, stylish, and thoughtfully designed with that elevated Chinese aesthetic that feels both cozy and chic. The food was 10/10. I tried several dishes and every single one was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The upstairs menu is different from the downstairs menu, but the staff were so accommodating and even made a few exceptions for me, which I really appreciated! While visiting Denver, I was craving Asian food but wanted a fusion twist so it wouldn't feel like something I could easily get back home. I looked up Asian fusion restaurants and this place fit the bill. An upscale establishment that clearly tailors to its Denver patrons. You can sense that just by looking at some of the menu items. If it's your first time, know that the Tea Room menu starts after 5 PM and is located upstairs. The menu is more expansive and the ambiance is elegant and romantic compared to the party vibe atmosphere of the Tap Room downstairs. Seated in the booth, it was hard to flag down staff, so you have to rely on them walking by, which doesn't happen often. Here's what we ordered: * In-N-Baout Roujiamos ($14.88) - 7/10 Gimmicky item. The flavors are reminiscent of In-N-Out burgers. Tasty but nothing special. The shrimp chips that came with it were stale. After a few bites, our server returned with a fresh bowl, explaining she had heard feedback from other guests and made a new batch. That was very nice of her. * Shrimp Shumai ($15.88) A dim sum staple and one of my favorites. The flavors were there but the texture was different from what I normally expect. Probably due to the small size. It was a bit on the over tender/mushy side. Each piece is about a single bite, making it roughly $3 a piece. The tobiko was refreshing and the sauce was delicious. * Drunken Empress ($17.88) + Duck Breast ($9.88) - 9/10 I came for this dish specifically. It was excellent and nailed about 95% of what I was hoping for. The only minor drawback was that the noodles were slightly undercooked and chewy. Interesting things I noticed: * Side Chili Oil ($1.88) - Wouldn't you think hot sauce or chili would be complimentary at any Asian restaurant? Not here. They charge $1.88 for a side of chili oil and chili crisp. Honestly thinks it tastes very much like Lao Gan Ma. Hm... * Toothpick - After finishing my meal, I asked for a toothpick. The front desk staff said they were out but would grab one from the back. A few minutes later she returned with a bamboo cocktail pick and said, "this is your toothpick." I wasn't sure if it was a joke, but yes, I tried to use it. No, it didn't really work. Was I trolled? Possibly. Would I come back? Definitely not for the Tap Room experience, but I'd be willing to try the Tea Room menu. I've heard it's run by different chefs and the quality of the food is higher. read more

All had their own unique qualities and all paired well with our dinner. We chose Pork Xiao Long Bao for our dim sum. House-made pork soup dumplings, served with sweet black vinegar & chili oil. For our entrée, we selected the Short Rib Spicy Noodle dish, which included Lup cheong, garlic, ginger, scallion, baby boy-choy, tri-color peppers, fresno chili, Thai basil, pistachio, sambal hoisin, cilantro, daikon sprouts, miso Mongolian sauce. Our side was Shishitos & Brussels, fresh Brussel sprouts & shishito peppers lightly fried, tossed in their citrus sauce, then topped with fresh jalapeno and pistachio paired with a spicy aioli sauce. Everything was so delicious we felt bad that we were not able to take the left overs with us. Our overall favorite was the Shishitos & Brussels. We ordered from the Dim Sum menu since we were hopping around Downtown Denver and wanted to sample as many restaurants we can. Bao Brewhouse was our first stop and they definitely set the bar. Their restaurant is split into two settings, tap room (lower level/chill/bar stools/casual) and tea room (upper level/more intimate/dining tables/fancy casual), both designed beautifully and have great vibes. We chose to sit at the patio, given my sisters were visiting from the Midwest and crave all the sun when visiting CO. The service was so convenient! You scan a QR code and place your order, puff comes the staff with your food. And still frequently filled our waters and cleared our plates. When we were ready for our bill, we just paid it online and closed out our tab. Just a smooth system and I love that others have this style of placing orders and closing tabs. Everything we had were chef's kiss delish Our most favorite and different dish you don't typically see was the Bluefin Tuna Crispy Rice. I love Crispy Rice served this way and not many do and then simply topped with great tuna, spicy mayo, jalapeño and eel sauce...yumyumyum. I'm coming here again! Went for the Jingle Bao popup expecting a festive experience with Christmas drinks and a DJ. While the space itself was decorated very festively, there was no DJ or music at all, which made it feel like a regular night rather than a special popup event. There was also some initial confusion at the start, we had to ask our server for the popup menu because it wasn't offered, and it wasn't clear at first that we were even in the right place. We ordered the soup dumplings, which had potential, but unfortunately every single one arrived already busted, so all the soup had leaked out into the dish. Came here with my husband and infant on a Sunday evening to grab some drinks and dinner. We really enjoyed everything we ordered but one big complaint: this is not what I would consider a kid friendly establishment. Out of the gate, we had to navigate a number of stairs to get to the main level. Thankfully there were two of us as this is no easy feat with a stroller. We were able to get a half of a table and park our stroller at the end which was nice but it was LOUD and not ideal for little ears. I'd recommend bringing earmuffs for babies. Bathrooms were located up another flight of stairs and there was no changing table in the women's bathroom. Bad biz. I understand not much can be done about the stairs, but it's not a big ask to have a changing table in the pre-existing accessible bathroom. Now for the pros. Service was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Love the water jugs. Decor was also super fun - love that they painted the vents to look like a dragon. For drinks, my husband got the Bao Private Barrel Old Fashioned which was well crafted. I opted for Passion Pagoda -- delish! Super unique and refreshing. A lot of yummy sounding cocktails it was truly hard to choose. I will note they were not cheap at ~$16 each. Food was served family style. We went with the mushroom dumplings, buffalo chicken dumplings, fried chicken bao, and Spicy Yaki-Soba. It all came out quickly and was really tasty (also a bit pricey). Definitely worth a try on a Tuesday when they have their AYCE dumplings! Be warned though, it's limited to Xiao Long Bao and one other pre-selected dumpling. They also only put in one order at a time (5-6 dumplings) and you could easily be waiting 15mins between orders. That being said, the dumplings were tasty, though a little bit small. We ordered one other dumpling from the menu which was also yummy! Overall I felt like the quality of the food was good, but I'd be hesitant to come back due to the pricing/portion ratios unless you're willing to splurge a little. On top of that, parking is difficult in the area and can be pricey too (we paid $20 for two hours in the lot across the way) The inside has two floors, upstairs had a bit more intimate/moody lighting, while downstairs felt more bright and casual. We came for lunch right when it opened. The waiter was nice and attentive. It's QR code ordering, which is quite convenient IMO and you just pay your tab right then or keep it open. You can also order with your waiter as well. We sat on the first floor in a little nook, since it's just us two. The ambiance gives out a cool-underground-speakeasy-hidden vibe. Lots of decor and their menu prices ends with $.88!!! You know what that means - FORTUNE!!! The number 8 in Chinese is a good luck number and also means fortune/money. Anyhow, my friend ordered the lunch special - 2 items for $14.88. She had the Bao belly buns and Rangoons. I ordered the Peking Noodle Soup. I did wanted the Yang Gui Fei, but it wasn't on their menu at the time. (btw, their menu changes frequently so don't always go off the pictures on Yelp!) My noodle soup was okay. I have had more authentic than this. The peking duck did was not tender, but chewy, and it didn't have the 5 spice flavor. I tasted black pepper on the skin and it was just not what I expected. A+ all around. My favorites were the Paper Crane (mezcal, hibiscus, yuzu--bright, smoky, and slightly bitter) and the Blueberry Lavender French 75 for something floral and refreshing. Absolutely love this place, it's the intersection between the New York Wu-Tang, hip-hop scene and an actual Asian restaurant, not sure how to articulate the theme and vibe, but it's fun! They have a teahouse upstairs, which is the fancier, dining side of the restaurant, we sat downstairs by the bar in the lounge I first tried the passion, pagoda cocktail, it was so good, and it was gone before I knew it. Then I went with a nine lives, this one was possibly even better, the Tahiri really added a kick.! We tried some shrimp shumai, which to me were perfect, they have that doughy fold over that does not taste too deeply fried and gives a good balance, paired with the light ponzu truffle sauce, it's delicious. We also had the pork xiao long bao (soup dumplings) and they were actually so impressive! I was really blown away by this place that I had been passing for a while, but never tried. There was a DJ on Saturday, but it was just the right decibel so we could still talk and enjoy. The food is perfect for sharing and cannot be beat. The host greeted us and let us know they would not be able to accommodate our party of 4 because taproom was fully booked with reservations. If you're looking for a more elevated, romantic ambiance, definitely make a reservation for their tea room ahead of time. Ally actually chose to serve us herself because of the allergy, which was incredibly thoughtful. The soup dumplings had no soup in them. The Yang Kwei Fei stole the show. The duck and pork belly were tender, the noodles were cooked to perfection, and the entire dish was full of flavor. This alone was a 8.5/10 dish! Definitely recommend. In all, we would have walked away not coming back here if we hadn't decided to split an entree. Solid tasty food here! Busy but very attentive wait staff! Super hard working and caring people always taking care of us when we come in. I enjoy both the upstairs experience where sometimes they have events as well like the drag brunch we went to over Pride. Or also to get in quickly eating downstairs at a high top is also an excellent experience. Top quality drinks and the food is always rich in flavor and great to split lots of different bites with friends and family here. My personal favorites are the drunken noodles here and the beef bao bun. It's a fun vibe inside and love the decor here and the lighting. Upstairs and downstairs have different styles but come together nicely and have their own thing. Crystal especially enjoys the tea upstairs! My partner and I came here to celebrate her birthday in the tea room upstairs. The service was great, the food was DELICIOUS, and the vibes are incredible. I've been here for dim sum downstairs, but the food upstairs is "elevated" and they aren't lying about it. The rangoons with king crab and Szechuan peppers made me rethink worry I could never go back to regular crab cheese wontons again. The mushroom dumplings were so tasty as well. The cocktails are all incredibly fun and the infusion of tea is such noticeably nice touch. Would happily celebrate any occasion here again. read more

It's kind of hard to park, but after that, it gets better. I've been a few times now, and I've never left disappointed. The music is always hip, but the type of hip differs. I've sat downstairs when the dubstep was loud and I've sat upstairs when the house music was at a nice level for dinner conversation. The food is consistently good, but it seems like I always order something that they're out of. Lots of options though! Hey guys! We booked a reservation a few days in advance to celebrate a birthday, our reservation was at 8:15. We got our table at 8:55, understandable if tables prior had taken longer or they were busy however when we received our table we waited an additional 35 minutes for our drinks to come. As someone who works in the service industry it is completely understandable Saturday nights get busy however there was no acknowledgment to the situation. My recommendation is if you have dinner plans, plan accordingly. This spot is great for a date night with the dark atmosphere and our server was friendly.
