We had a Denver layover and needed a place to rest, refresh and have a quick snack. We walked around a bit and couldn't decide, but came across this place randomly. We had picked out a few places ahead of time, but they ended up being further away than we wanted. We walked in here and sat ourselves at the bar. Service was fast, friendly and frequent. The person behind the bar was super attentive, we never wanted for anything. I am writing this review to help myself remember that I definitely want to come back here on future Denver airport visits. I was just looking for a snack and decided on the wok fried edamame. As a person with restrictive dietary needs, I eat a lot of edamame. Usually it is just something high in protein that fills me up and is kind of fun to eat. Here it was so delicious. I insisted my partner try some and he was in complete agreement. This is the best edamame I have ever had in my life. It had great sauce, a great citrus salt and was wok fried. I could have eaten 2 orders of this. I asked my partner if he thought he could recreate this at home, I asked the bartender about how they prepared it to make it so delicious. If you need a tasty snack do stop here for this, but this is also a great place to get a to go drink, which I guess is a thing at the Denver airport. Pretty dismal attempt at Pad Thai. No wok char on the noodles or fixings whatsoever. Weak seasoning without any discernible fish sauce flavor or aroma. Chicken was tender albeit generically poached. We were at the Denver Airport location. We were hungry since we hadn't had anything other than a few airline snacks. I was looking forward to a nice lunch. We were seated quickly and greeted by our waiter who was very friendly. He quickly served us ice water when we asked for it. We perused the menu a bit and made our selections - I chose the Crispy Veggie Spring Rolls and General Cho's Soup Dumplings. The wife chose the Classic Smash Burger and fries. The spring rolls were excellent with a thin, crispy wrapper and filled with some tasty tender-crisp veggies. They provided a red dipping sauce that was unique and enhanced the taste of the rolls. The soup dumplings weren't what I expected at all. I pictured a bowl of soup/broth with soft, pillowy dumplings, similar to steamed potstickers or wontons floating in that broth. What I got was four steamed buns, reddish orange in color and honestly, they weren't pillowy or tender at all. You're supposed to eat them in one bite, no small feat since they are really more than a mouthful. However they caution you to wait several minutes due to them being hot. Inside is some meat, like a meatball with Asian flavors and some liquid. I guess that's what they referred to as soup. It tasted akin to the dipping sauce that usually accompanies pan fried potstickers. A bit vinegar, some soy and a little ginger/garlic. I wasn't a fan. The wife enjoyed the smash burger especially the brioche bun and the red onion slivers. The fries looked great but I was a little disappointed when I snagged one and it wasn't crispy at all and lacked any real flavor. All in all the meal was disappointing and rather expensive. The cost was $60 with tax for what amounted to two appetizers and one entree. We drink ice water which was kept topped off by our waiter who was very good. That said, you are a captive audience as I saw no other real sit down restaurants out at the far end of the terminal. And since our continuing flight was also on SWA we didn't need to walk anywhere else. I'd definitely try the nearby sandwich shop should our travels take us back to Denver airport again. read more

On a stopover in Denver, decided to check out Cho Lon due to the positive reviews. So my question is, what is everyone eating that was so great? Tried the Shrimp Fried Rice - the grains were so old and grainy broken pieces it was disgusting. Fried egg on top, overcooked. The Pork Belly Bao Buns were flavorful and alright with the picked vegetables. At least edible. Service was quick, ambiance was nice. Table was uneven and kept tilting every time someone touched the table. I guess for airport terminal food it was adequate and different from a burger and bar scene. Would not return here. I returned from a business trip and picked up food to go from this establishment. I was shocked how high the prices were first of all. $24-$27 for noodle dishes without meat and another seven dollars to add chicken tofu or and eight dollars to add shrimp and I think beef. So we are talking up to $32 for a simple pad Thai dish or sambal noodle dish. Being that I hadn't had breakfast, I ordered it. The sambal noodles with shrimp is what I ordered and while it was large, the snap peas and carrot shreds were overcooked and the shrimp was tiny and that was about all there was to the dish other than noodles and chili. The level of spice was great, but there was really no other flavor and I had to drain it and soy sauce to give it some kind of flavor at all. I was very unimpressed and can get a better dish of noodles from the local dive Thai joint for $14. I ordered the lime and coconut cheesecake which looks really good. Haven't tried it yet. Hmmmm, maybe because it's newish- but, you know how you judge a good Mexican restaurant on the basics like rice and beans as an indicator of how good the rest of the meal could be? I ordered the cucumbers and they were ok but felt confusing- sliced marinated ones and then chopped sauced ones- did they run out of the pickled ones? On to a simple side of white rice- eeesh. White rice can be such a bowl of delicious comfort if you know how to make it right! This was somewhere between long grain and left out to dry. This is an upscale Asian concept restaurant! I got to the airport almost an hour and a half early and was hungry and wanted something good and different. Cholon happened to be right next to my gate I stopped in to have a bite. I ordered the chicken fried rice. It was good the water chestnuts gave it a refreshing crunch. The egg was crispy yet good it could've been undercooked just a little bit more. The Saigon old-fashioned was refreshing and not too heavy. Everything came out in a reasonable amount of time. The service was friendly and warm. Service was good. The fried potstickers were good. But, jeez, these were the worst service of French onion soup dumplings I have ever had at a ChoLon. They really did taste quite old. This is the 2nd time in 2 weeks we've visited this Chopin location and we will make this our regular stop whenever we are at DIA. Had a layover with enough time for a leisurely lunch. After trying to go to Rootdown and them not having anything appealing, I looked this place in. I had a server Jordan who was on his game but everyone was super helpful and fast. I ordered an IPA called Jiggly wiggly which was perfect. Then came the main attraction, a spicy Korean friend chicken with fries. I'm not sure what the chicken was coated in but it was red and spicy (not too), pickles and a delicious brioche bun. The chicken was white breast meat, thick and juicy. The fries were good too. I could only eat half of the sandwich but I don't think there could be a better fried chicken sandwhich at DIA. I walked out and started looking around nearby after I finished and paid. The waiter Timothy came after me calling me by my name (we did not introduce to each other he just read my card or something). He brings the receipt in tow and asked why I didn't tip and if he offended me. Honestly the whole experience was just middle of the road, I just ate, I didn't have a reason to pay more than the expensive food. He tells me I should have ordered to go and not sat at the table if I wasn't going to tip. I didn't know tips were required to sit down and the vibe of the place was like any casual restaurant, especially since he was wearing a ball cap and jeans or something like that. I Was tired and wanted him to leave me alone, I gave him $5 from my wallet to go. My friends think I shouldn't have done that and said the fact he followed me out was weird. And yeah...never had that happen to me...not really professional to follow a customer into the place next door to demand a tip. The egg came out overcooked hard yolk, rubbery whites, the kind of thing that makes you wonder if anyone's actually tasting this stuff before it leaves the kitchen. The fried rice was fine, I guess, but it didn't have any real depth or char. Just sort of... there. And the chicken? Completely flavorless. No seasoning, no browning, nothing. I kept waiting for a bite that would justify the hype, but it never showed up. The margarita didn't help. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't memorable either another drink that could've come from anywhere. It wasn't my fault - the menu was so limited. You're basically choosing between this bowl, a salad, or a couple other things that didn't look much better. Very impressed with this Denver Airport Restaurant. The service was perfect, the food was yummy, and the bar had endless space that we could post up and work while waiting for our layover flight. Was really looking forward to Cholon at the airport. Nice atmosphere and centrally located by the Southwest terminal. Their menu is minimal. I chose the ban mi and mandarin orange chicken salad. The ban mi had a lot of bread that wasn't that flavorful. They grill it a smear of liver pate and sauce but I still felt it was too much. I ended up taking off the bread and eating sandwich insides by itself. They did have a very good chili crunch oil to put on the sandwich. The salad was very large but too overly sweet. The chicken had a thick breading that hid the chicken and the a was mostly bread. I had to add pepper to the salad to counter balance the sweet. It's a great concept but I found it lacking flavor and covering up in there breaded items to truly make it a great airport place to eat for the price point. read more

We saw a sign that said they had great breakfast and decided to give it a try. We are so happy we did! The breakfast had something eclectic for me and something a bit more standard for my husband so everyone was happy! The cocktails were FANTASTIC and beautiful. The location has a ton of natural light and a trendy feel. The server Yadawadee was INCREDIBLE with my toddler and our table never lacked for drinks or service. Not only do they not do substitution for the fries (they offered rice lol) but the fried chicken itself was SO hard that I could chip my tooth biting down into it. I cut the chicken with a knife and the breading just falls right off the chicken. I'm not sure what they were going for here but it's wasn't flavorful or spicy or remotely good. I ended up eating the inside chicken which was extremely small since everything was the extremely thick hard breading that just fell off. It's laughable they charge $22 for this sandwich. This is glorified airport food, $30 + tax and tip for a serving of pork belly lo mein. It was drowning in over salty sauce, and it wasn't good. What was worse was the $19 fried calamari which was a disgusting weird texture, rolled in heavy black pepper, and the breading portion was wet and soggy. The orange mayo sauce was equally as gross. The food was expensive and nearly inedible. 1star. I would suggest going to the Chinese food court counter for food if you want Chinese food. . The nice part was the buildout with lots of natural light and nice places to sit. 5 stars. It is really nice as a "get away" from the crowded airport. . The other nice part was the staff. They appear to be understaffed, but everyone was hustling. 5 stars for the staff, 2 stars for being understaffed. Because of the short staffing it is slow. So if you have a less than 1.5 hrs, this is probably not going to work. . I don't drink, but the bar is well stocked and ready for flyers to get a cocktail before getting on a plane.
