Initially, I was very exited for location to open. Ordered twice from them. I have to say that I'm quite disappointed. This new location doesn't match up to the other franchise location. We ordered our typical... soy garlic chicken wings and seasoned fries. The food seems to have same taste, but the chicken wings have such thick breading. The breading fell apart so easily that destroys the taste and texture of the meat as the wings don't seem to marinate well. Some wings appear to be under cook. In addition, we found the many of the wing flats have broken bones. It left a very unpleasant taste. Until they improve the recipes, I will go to other locations. First time trying Korean Fried Chicken after hearing the hype for so many years. Ordered the small 10-pcs half-and-half of spicy and soy garlic wings. I've got to say the hype was worth it. The batter is definitely very unique (in a good way) from normal fried chicken. Enjoyed the crispy crunchiness quite a bit. If I had to choose, spicy is the way to go. Wish it could be spicier but it was good enough. That said, we also ordered the House Fried Rice with Chicken. Unfortunately, this second entree left a lot to be desired. It was not seasoned well at all, almost as if they forgot to add salt (this coming from someone who isn't heavy handed with salt when cooking). She took care to offer recommendations, as we were first time diners at this restaurant and were curious about vegetarian food-choices. The tofu potstickers and tofu Bibimbap were outstanding in flavor and presentation. My order of Jasmine tea came in a traditional Korean kettle and cup, which kept the beverage fragrant and hot till the very end of my meal! my partner and i were in the area picking something up and decided hey why not take advantage of the options here versus in frederick. we wanted wings and didn't want bww or anything along those lines. we have never tried this place and it was definitely quite the surprise. the app we chose to go with was the pork buns, the last place we had any was in dc and honestly i loved those buns. i'm so glad i found a much closer place for delicious buns. the location was empty for a friday night we dined in and they had a nice sized bar as well. the wings were crispy on the outside and extremely juicy in the inside we did half and half: soy garlic and buffalo. they mean it when it says cooked twice! we also ordered the chicken katsu 8/10! would definitely go again once we're nearby again. read more

I had no idea that Bonchon had a location in Gaithersburg and seems like it is fairly new according to other reviews. I was in the area so decided to place a quick pick up order. The dining room is closed but they do offer curbside and in-store pickup. My food was ready in about 10 minutes but my order was unfortunately wrong. There was a mix up in payment when I went in to pick up my order which wasn't a big deal since they fixed it right away but because of the mix-up, I didn't have a chance to check to make sure my food was correct (even though the cashier ensured me it was but in times like this I don't feel comfortable opening food in the restaurant and just trusted him). I had ordered a 6 wing/3 drumstick combo and got the 5 drumstick combo instead. I know in the end it's just chicken on a bone but I was really just craving wings. read more

This spot in Gaithersburg was worth the wait. I ordered here for Super bowl sunday and I called ahead to make sure I was ready to pick up my chicken on time. The staff was really friendly and was able to help me get my order ready on time. The wait time they gave me was longer than usual but it's totally understandable with the high volume of orders that were coming for Super Bowl. When i got there, they seemed to be really busy but was still able to help me. Overall the wait was worth it. They still continue to live up to their double fried chicken standard and i was happy that I was able to bring back some Bonchon chicken to my family. Great spot and great service. I seldom leave reviews for food establishments unless the overall service experience is exceptionally poor, rarely over the quality of the food itself. In this case, I ordered delivery through Postmates so I don't have any experience with this location's level of service. This was my first time ordering Bonchon but it has come recommended as an adequate fast food Korean option. I ordered the Japchae and opted not to add extra bulgogi for $6 because I wanted to see their normal portion first. The portion of the dish itself was generous and the flavors were okay but there were maybe six pieces of bulgogi in the dish which was disappointing since I had a taste for bulgogi and could've ordered a basic noodle dish with veggies from many places. Perhaps this was just a fluke. In any event, the dish is $20 before tax and I'm not sure what $6 worth of extra bulgogi amounts to, but if what I received is a typical portion, $6 to add more protein would simply be a rip off. read more

Of all the Bonchon Chicken franchises, This one is the best in my area. I've been to Rockville, Arlington, Hyattsville and, Navy Yard. The chef who cooks at this location should give the cooks at the other locations lessons. The cook at the Market Street location knows how to keep the chicken tender and juicy while having the perfect crispy texture outside. And, they are consistent. I no longer live in the area but I drive out of my way when I'm in the mood (twice a month) for Bonchon. I wish they had frequent visitor rewards, I would visit more often. Ordered the small 10pc tenders, salmon avocado ball, and fries. You get a choice of coleslaw or radish with the chicken, and I ended up picking radish. It's a nice alternative to rice. The chicken was flavorful, crispy, and fresh. My favorite flavor is the soy garlic, but they had a new flavor that wasn't up my alley.The salmon avocado ball tasted amazing. The fish part of the ball had some slight crunch, which added more enjoyment to the dish. I got a fresh batch of the season fries so it wasn't as crunchy as I like, but seasoning was good. Also, to my surprise, they serve some alcoholic drinks (soju and beer). They also have tvs in the dining area that were playing sport channels so it vibes kinda like buffalo wild wings. I also ordered from the tutti frutti (froyo)/ bubble tea area connected to the Bonchon building, and I'm a fan of the drink I got. I can't remember the name, but it was a fruit tea with foam. The fruit tea tasted refreshing and not overly sweet. The foam had a unique taste, like a cheesy taste that somehow ended up pairing well with the fruit tea despite seeming like a weird combo. It definitely tastes different compared to other foams I've tried from other bubble tea places. Definitely worth a try. read more

Last month was the first time. It was really tasty. Unfortunately, they didn't remember to give us the rice that we ordered. When I rang, they told me to go back (5 miles each way) and since that was not going to work they said they would give me rice the next time I went back. So, with THAT order, they didn't include the chopsticks or any napkins. I then ordered delivery and the chicken was really dried out. They also forgot the fries! I had visited this location a few days ago and it was nothing short of amazing. The quick service, remarkable staff, and great tasting food. Went to the Kentlands Gaithersburg,md store on Saturday, August 13th, and the wings was terrible. So salty, like someone had poured a box of salt on them. I told the waiter a couple of times. Visited this location for the first time today and did not expect my experience to be this bad. Food was great but I've never had such bad customer service. Was not greeted when my friend and I walked in, nobody was interested in assisting us (not busy at all btw only 3 people sitting at the bar, not a single table was seated) we walked up to the counter and said we wanted to dine in. Waitress turned around and says how many? Takes us to the table not friendly at all, ask us are we ready to order as soon as we sat down. I asked about a few menu items and received answers so dry. I would've ordered more but this really killed the mood. When we got our food she didn't ask us if we need anything didn't come back and even ask if everything was okay. Mind you we were 1 of 2 tables in there. We noticed a few more people walk in behind us and everyone was greeted and serviced nicely, didn't think this was a racist establishment so I was really annoyed. Fast forward as I'm still eating the waitress hands the check to my friend and asks if we need boxes..... as we're still eating and the place doesn't close for another hour and a half. My friend said we were not done yet and continued to eat. 20 minutes go by nobody returns waitress is sitting behind the counter hanging out, we got so fed up waiting we walked up to the counter with our check and paid there. Regretting even leaving the 15% tip at this point because I was so upset. Sucks because I actually enjoy Korean fried chicken and this totally ruined the meal for me to the point where I'm taking my time to write this review. This was on 10/29 around 8pm server was Olivia. Horrible customer service, very disappointing experience for my family and me. My 8yo brother has allergies with certain ingredients in their fried chicken, so we brought some food for him to eat. It was only a bit of food for a child, and there were 5 of us. Walked in and we were completely honest that we had outside food. We immediately explained the situation, that he had allergies and asked if it was ok to have the food with us. The waiter was immediately hostile and stated that he had told us many times that outside food and drinks were not allowed. We were confused because we rarely frequent this place and we'd never been told this before. We tried to tell him that he'd never said this to us before (and that we'd never even seen him before) but he was incredibly defensive and even told us to never come back. Very disappointing because it ruined our dinner and was a horrible experience, especially for the kids. Not only did he not accommodate for a child with allergies, he also accused us of bringing in outside food many times, even though we've never seen him before and we haven't even been here in over half a year.
