Awesome place! Came here for a quick lunch with a friend and were seated immediately since it was not too busy. We ordered off of the lunch menu. I got the 6 wings with half and half of the 2 flavors with a side of fries. Wait time was approximately 15 minutes, not too long at all! Our waitress was extremely attentive and prompt as well. The chicken is cooler to perfection and the outside is so so savory. Seriously, I don't know how they get it so perfect. The fries were on the crispier side, which I prefer but is not for everyone. Overall it was great. Clean place, good service, low waiting time and excellent food. The price was also decent and not as expensive as I expected. Ordered again from here today and gotta day I was disappointed. Once again the Takoyaki was good (probably one of the best things from this place), chicken katsu was pretty decent but the strips is where the problem comes in. The strips literally had the texture of a beef jerky, it's hard...... Sauce was nice and once again they still haven't change their $4 "milk tea". A little baby size and they charging $4 where as other places you can buy a large one that tastes much better. Also let's not forget that shrimp shumai is prettyy much store bought... All in all I would probably just come back for the takoyaki since it's quite literally the only place in the area but other than that I'll have to pass. read more

You can go half-and-half on the flavors, but if you're unsure about which to choose, honestly the only real difference is one is spicy, and the other is not. Comes drenched in sauce, but the skin is still impressively crispy. It's almost like candy-coated chicken, which sounds gross, but it's amazing. They give you a generous Five Guys-like quantity of fries, with no cup! Potstickers are excellent. Fried until crispy but still chewy somehow. Boneless chicken was chicken nuggets with a cloying sauce. Didn't like the pickled radish. Bigger problem was the lousy japchae, with super soggy noodles, bizarrely overcooked deteriorating shredded carrots, overall flavor that tasted like they were reheated from a mall food court got table, with unpleasant meat that tasted like a cheap cut with a lot of tenderizer. I've only ordered pick up from here but every time we've gotten chicken, it's always stayed super crispy for at least an hour after pick up. It can get kind of busy during the evenings and you may have to wait to pick up your food (the latest ours has been is 10 mins after the pick up time), but the chicken is consistently good and the employees at the window are always kind. read more

I like Bonchon for the most part. I love the crunch of their chicken and the flavors. I HATE how dry their rice is and that you can't get sauce for it (i know i can't be the only person who thinks this)!! Regardless, i still can have a good meal from here so i do from time to time. My first experience at Bon Chon was in New York. I was so happy to see that there was another Bon Chon location in Maryland. I originally thought Bon Chon was a type of food, but it's actually a chain restaurant. Since my boyfriend were starving, we ordered way too much food. I ordered the lunch special that came with your choice of meat and your choice of side. I ordered the 5 chicken wings with sweet garlic and a side of white rice. My boyfriend ordered the 5 chicken wings with sweet garlic with a side of French fries. In addition, we also ordered a 10 piece of chicken wings with hot sauce with a side of coleslaw. I personally thought we ordered way too much food, but there actually wasn't anything left to eat at the end if the meal. By far, these chicken wings are the best chicken wings I've ever had. They are the crunchiest chicken wings I've ever had as well. They aren't your average chicken wing, they are just simply amazing. This is my second time ordering from them. The first time I ordered from this location they gave me raw and bad pork meat on the Pork Buns. Vowing to never order from this location again, I went to the Bonchon on half street in DC (Navy Yard) to order the pork buns and it was amazing! The pork meat was cooked thoroughly and looks just like the picture, they also sliced the cucumber into little shreds as they're supposed to. I went to Door Dash today to have it delivered to me and I initially thought the half street location would deliver to me but I was sadly mistaken when I got my meal and found the uncooked pork meat and smelly pork meat was given to me in my order. Then I went to the Door Dash site to see where it came from and of course it was delivered from the Hyattsville location. The location in Hyattsville is unprofessional and the food is disgusting. This hurts me a little bit to knock Bonchon down a few stars, but I feel it must be done to be fair to Yelpers and other businesses. The past few (4 or 5) times I've been here, the service has been abysmal. I'm not sure if it is understaffed or if the wait staff doesn't care, or if something else is going on. On multiple occasions, we have had to ask other wait staff to find our waitress. They also forget to bring drinks and say they'll grab it right away, and it never comes. Most recently, I cancelled my iced tea order because it would have come after we were done eating. This is not one waitress in particular, the three that I've had are all about the same, and I'd give each two stars. The food is still good, don't get me wrong. We also tried takeout to try to avoid the bad experience with the wait staff, and they messed up that order. We took it back, and if it was me, I'd just make a new batch of chicken and have it ready when we got there. Nope, they took our chicken that was supposed to be spicy, and coated it in the spicy sauce and gave it back to us. So, no spicy yummy candy coating like we paid for. Heard about this recent opening and since I've had good experiences with the one located in Ellicott City, I was particularly enthused to try this place out with some friends after a long day in College Park. Got there a little after 9 pm on a Saturday (there's convenient 2-hour complimentary parking in the garage right across) and our group of 10 had to wait about 15 minutes - not too long, before the servers led us to the party room in the back. The place itself looked clean, with modern/cool decor, and was fairly empty - but since this place just opened up about a week ago, I'm sure it'll get busier in the coming weeks/months. Our server was very friendly and attentive - she made sure to split our orders early on, confirmed and reconfirmed what everyone wanted, came back frequently to refill drinks, etc. - a better experience than other places I've been to where the party room tends to be neglected :C As such a large group, we ordered the XL chicken wings (40 total) - half and half (soy garlic and hot). The Salmon Avocado Ball appetizer, which basically sounded like a deconstructed sushi roll according to the menu description, also piqued my interest so decided to get it for me and the bf as well. Food came out quickly (maybe in like ~20 mins or so) - first the round of appetizers and then the chicken. The Salmon Avocado Ball tasted (and looked) just like I imagined - a mix of imitation crab meat, salmon, avocado, cucumber, & rice encased in a crispy shell and drizzled with spicy mayo sauce. Yummmmmmm, calories. Some of my friends got the season fries, which were delightfully crispy and fresh. And the flavors of the chicken were spot on; good to see that coming from a restaurant chain. Wings were a tad bit smaller than the ones I usually see in Ellicott City, but eh, not a big deal. Located in the quiet strip mall of Hyattsville. There seems to be a revamp of the area, lots of empty but newer-looking buildings. It's surprisingly that Bonchon decided to open another store in an area that's mostly dominated by a movie theater, but the close distance (compared to Rockville / Annandale / Ellicott City) is a plus. We came with a large group of people on a Friday night and expected it to be pretty crowded. Luckily, Hyattsville is still relatively quiet so the restaurant was mostly empty. We were seated and ordered a ton of wings, delivered to us after a quick 15 minute wait. Bonchon is a franchise... not much to complain about. The wings came out hot, juicy, and crispy. Both flavors (soy garlic and spicy) were delicious. Even with the restaurant being mediocre, service was slow and not attentive. There's still a couple of things that could be ironed out being a relatively new restaurant. Parking across the street in the garage is free for 2 hours. read more

Then right after we got our food, she said her shift was ending so she wanted to close our tab. We originally wanted to get more drinks but I guess not now... Then she proceeded to simply walk around in the restaurant for the next half an hour so obviously she was NOT getting off work. Also, she NEVER came by the table to ask us if we were okay or if we wanted more water cause we DID. We still never got water when we left. In the end when we got our check, she forgot that it was happy hour & tried to charge us extra. I understand the mistake of it was a busy day BUT there was only 1 other table... And my super excited coworker asked me to pick him up a 20 piece box of hot so that he could eat cold the next day! In about 15 minutes, our orders were ready and we were on our way! Let me start off by saying, the chicken is very good! Nice outer coating with a crunch! I was very hesitant about the hot flavor, but it wasn't too hot! Just leaves a singe on your lips! And the soy garlic are just divine! Delicious on the outside! However, Yelper Toya J. Is absolutely right, the actual chicken itself could be seasoned with some salt or something before it is breaded! But if you suck the skin and chicken in one swoop, you wouldn't notice how under seasoned the actual flesh is! The chicken is pretty good though! And we ordered the seafood fried rice! This particular Bonchon is nice and spacious with gracious amount of seats. But just like any other Bonchon, the service is a little slow. It seems like they have gotten better over time but still on the slower side. Decent atmosphere and range of food on the menu. Most people probably come here for chicken anyways. The food is pretty good for the first few bites but it gets greasy and heavy very fast. The picked raddish really keeps the balance but they do not give you that much. It would be nice if they provided more raddish without charging the extra $1.75 per cup. Either way, decent place to visit for seasoned chicken and perhaps even Korean food. Service: Excellent! I went for the first time this past Saturday and It was perfect! Our group of three had two servers for some reason. Food came out in about five minutes and our water stayed filled. The thing that impressed me most however, was the fact that our servers were always smiling and joyous. I think its said nature that makes restaurants stand out and attract customers/high ratings. Food: This was my first time trying the Korean crispy chicken. I fell in love immediately. The chili wings are actually spicy! They pack a punch, but aren't unbearable. I do recommend the soy version if you aren't a big fan of spicy. We also ordered the fries which are actually beer battered and SUPER crispy, and if you have read my other reviews involving fries, you'll know I rarely give a good rating for simple sides like the ones offered here. I have also heard that the avocado salmon ball here is to die for, but unfortunately did not get a chance to try it last week. Environment: A very clean and tidy place that reminds me of BWW. The setup, booths, moist towelettes and such are standard. The bar is very aesthetically appealing and overall, adds to the somewhat fancy vibe. If you go to Bonchon and you don't get the fried chicken, you are making a grave mistake. The chicken is truly delicious. So crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It would be nice to have more than 2 sauce options, but the 2 available are very good. This particular location has TERRIBLE service. The host literally did not speak any words to us when we entered the restaurant. Just snatched up menus and started marching off toward a table. The food came out so slowly. I was dining with one other person. We both ordered one entree each. The entrees came out of the kitchen 20 minutes apart. When I asked the server about the delay, there was no apology and no acknowledgement of the delay. The server basically disappeared after that (someone else finally brought us the second entree) and also took a ridiculously long time to bring the check, so long that we had to resort to leaving cash on the table. The Thai Tea was a good flavor but it was such a small glass for $5. The Salmon Avocado ball was delicious, it tasted like sushi. We had the combo Soy Garlic and Spicy wings, fried rice and Shrimp Shumai. The chicken was delicious, super crunchy, good flavor and fresh. The chicken could have been a bit more "saucey" but overall it was good. The wings come with pickled radish, coleslaw or rice. The radish was a different flavor I had never tasted before. It was sweet, tangy and had a bite to it, I still don't know how I feel about it, it was just different. The shrimp shumai was pretty tasty, the honey mustard sauce that comes with it didn't go well with it in my opinion, but it was still a tasty dish. I'll definitely go back. The service was good and the place was pretty clean. They also have a private birthday room, but I'm not sure if there is a charge to use it. I have been to different Bonchons before and they are usually similar in terms of atmosphere, menu, and the speed of servers. This particular one is fairly large for a Bonchon, I have seen much smaller ones. So, getting a seat is not much of an issue. The atmosphere is fairly decent with somewhat of an upscale feel to it but not really. The background music seemed a bit outdated but still enjoyable. It often seems as if there are not enough servers for the amount of tables that are filled because the service is a bit slow. They are known for their chicken but they do have other dishes on their menu that are worth trying. Just be aware that the spicy flavored foods are pretty spicy. If you are not good with spicy food, I recommend the soy garlic flavor. The food isn't traditional or authentic Korean but still have the Korean flair. The food is decent but greasy so it becomes difficult to finish the entire dish without soda and the radish. The dish size is great for sharing, however. They are also a bit conservative with their side dishes like the radish and even ketchup. Either way, a place worth visiting if you are craving crunchy flavored chicken that you do not typically find from other chicken places. read more

They had decent lunch specials. 6$-10$ for about... 5-7 dishes which included five piece chicken with side, bibimbap, fried rice and others I can't remember. We ordered off the regular menu- yakitori 7$, Ten piece wings half and half 11$, and bulldak 13$. Yakitori was okay. Wings were decent size and the sauce was pretty good. Spicy was actually spicy! The outside had a nice crisp on it. The bulldak was tasty too. It wasn't that spicy though. It had a little bit of cheese and a few pieces of rice cake in it. My BF and I work near the area.. He loves fried chicken and had a good experience here.. I think we will be coming back. Service seems eh... We had an awk server. And other servers didn't seem... Professional.. Bob chon is one of my boyfriends favorite places. But I don't love it like he does. Though we can regularly agree to come and dine in once a month. Service is a little on the slower pace but the people are nice. The menu has a decent amount of choices. I've gotten the steamed shrimp dumpling appetizer and loved it. But we usually get a 1/2 and 1/2 chicken. Half spicy and half regular. I like spicy. I really do but this spicy is more of just flaming hot and little flavor. Personally the chicken is a little too crunchy for me. But it's ok. They also have sliders and bugoli which I am probably spelling wrong they are good. Pretty inexpensive. We got soy garlic large wings 15pcs + drums 8pcs to take home to the family, though not as much was left as you might think after The Colonel and I got through it. The one benefit to the sit down concept was cocktails, beer and wine, and I had the Angry Orchard + Fireball, which complemented the wings pretty nicely. While the staff were friendly, the service was SO SLOW. I've never waited so long for a drink to come out (bordered on 30 minutes). That being said, the chicken is amazing. Not only are the wings HUGE, the sauce is tasty - even the spicy one (I'm a baby when it comes to spicy food so this is really something!). They're double fried so they're crispy as shit - AKA amazing. The bulgogi fried rice was good as well but not something to write home about.. This would be such a great place to stop by and get food if it weren't for the slow service.. I only recieved the pork buns and bubble tea - unfortunately, I forgot to check my bag before leaving. The pork buns were good but were small and honestly not worth the price of $9.95. Whereas, the bubble tea had a nice taste but had tiny, hard tapioca pearls - not worth $4.95. I went at about 6p so I expected at least a little better but, alas, I spent $18 on a mediocre meal. This was my 1st time visiting this location. I work near it. So, why not, can't be bad right? I have tasted the chicken before and thought it was good. But I went for lunch and felt it was very underwhelming. 1st off, throughout the day, this place is dead. I mean it doesn't pick up until after 5pm. When I went in and sat I had to ask for everything. No automatic water, the waitress although pleasant, had a language barrier. She smiled a lot. That's how I knew she didn't understand me.
