Been to this location over 20 times throughout the years. Have always had a great experience. Unfortunately during my last visit on a weekday night after work I noticed quite a few changes. What made this last trip particularly disappointing was we were introducing a coworker to try Korean chicken wings for the first time and really didn't have a great time. Service was mid since there was a young lady there working by herself. The place had probably 4 other tables while we were there. We ordered the 30 piece wings(10 hot & 20 soy garlic) The size definitely has gotten smaller. A few of the wings smaller than my pinky. Felt like they went heavy on the sauce as well. Probably tossed in a bowl instead of brushing it on as advertised on the website. Also they were all lacking the crispy double crunch batter that was one of the best parts of these wings in the past. We also ordered the gyoza which were fine and the takoyaki which I suggest skipping. They lacked flavor & was not enough octopus. I feel like there was a change in ownership and or had new vendors. Sheesh even the slaw wasn't the same. Unfortunately not sure if I'll frequent this location again. Maybe next time I'll check out the other Tempe location instead read more

I finally got a chance to get back here after a few years and the wings are still my favorite spicy wings on the planet. The crisp is just perfect and the sauce is perfection, it's not too messy and it doesn't drip and it's just painted on literally. You will not regret trying these wings I promise. read more

There are a few vegan options on the Bonchon menu if you find yourself heading there with non-vegan friends or family. I usually go for the vegetable pot stickers big they don't always have them at this location. The japchae can be made without beef but is way sweeter than traditional japchae and you don't get a whole lot for the $16.99 price tag. Would recommend fries, radish, and soju for your plant-based needs. read more

Absolutely amazing food! I have been here a few times and took two of my coworkers. I ordered the lunch special of 4 pieces of chicken (drumsticks). My friends ordered the chicken Katsu and the Spicy Chicken fried rice. My fried who ordered the fried rice, kept saying how spicy it was and that it 'was the best fried rice they ever had in their life'. My other friend said that the Katsu was perfectly crispy and cooked to perfection. My chicken was amazing as always. I cut off some for each of my friends who also agreed that it was so crispy and juicy. They are both now huge fans as well. Our server Jessica was extremely nice and very attentive. First time trying this place and my husband and I were super disappointed. The food was just not flavorful, the portions are pretty small for how much it is and my husband got the bulgogi fried rice and it literally had a sprinkle of meat on it (which is an additional charge). For 2 small meals and a side of kimchi being $45....we will not be eating here again. We could go to all you can eat KBBQ for that and get 5x the food. Just wasn't worth it. I ordered via Uber Eats so I can't speak to the ambience of the restaurant. I really enjoyed the food though. I ordered the 10 piece boneless (half soy garlic and half spicy) which came with fries. The fries were seasoned perfectly and were wonderfully crisp. But the chicken was the star, so crunchy and delicious! It stayed crunchy even though it took my driver 30 mins to get to me and stayed crisp when I ate the leftovers later in the day. The sauces were tasty, and the spicy chicken was actually spicy! SO GOOD! We got two lunch orders of Chicken Katzu - great portion and tasted great!!! Then an order of 4 wings with 2 drum stick - half and half - of spicy and their new sauce of Yang Yum Sauce. The yummiest chicken wings. Honestly they are so delicious. We got the soy garlic and the seasonal chili lime. Both of these were delicious, the soy garlic is really mild but so tasty and crunchy. The chili lime has a lot more spice (like a milder sriracha) so flavorful. Highly recommend going and getting both! We also got the French fries with seasoning, good (not worth $7 IMO). It comes with a generous portion of pickled daikon on the side, which I'm personally quick obsessed with. My second visit to Bonchon was just as great as the first! My first & I decided to sit at the bar this time around. As much I wanted to order the same thing I got last visit, I forced myself to try something different lol and I'm so glad I did! I still got the pot stickers and chicken wings, like last time. But, this time, instead of fried rice, I ordered the Pork Buns! And, after those, I don't think I can force myself to try anything else new lol the Pork Buns definitely made the my Top #5 of Best Things I've Ever Tasted lol The Pork Buns were definitely an experience. The soft, fluffy, cloud-like bun, the hot, seared pork, the hint of spice, the cool cucumber. It was perfect. Even my picky-eater friend was impressed! If you can get a picky-eater to like something, that says a lot about the dish! I was in Heaven with every bite. Just writing about it makes me want to go get some! We also tried a different flavored Soju. My friend & I, again, tried to order something new. But, that was a fail lol we ordered the Grape flavor and we both agreed that it tasted like NyQuil lol Thankfully, the server was nice enough to let us switch it out for a different flavor. Ordered white rice as my side with my chicken, came out and it tasted like jasmine rice which I didn't expect. I've eaten at a few Korean restaurants and I don't think it's usually jasmine they give me, I don't know maybe it's like that sometimes? Im just not a fan of jasmine rice and wish it stated that on the menu. Most of the chicken drumsticks were alright but I had one that was mostly just over cooked and barely any chicken inside. They also had cleaning spray bottles on the counter in a tray with chopsticks and napkins in the same tray and the cleaning rag thrown on top. This is definitely a hidden gem! I came in to try it out since I was told multiple times it was a must. I ordered a small combo (wings and drums) my sauce choices were soy garlic and spicy. Spicy ones are very spicy by the way but I definitely recommend that flavor if you can handle it. I also wanted to try the seasoned fries which were very good as well. Everything tasted so good that I will definitely be back to try some of their other dishes. This place is known for their Korean style fried chicken. The chicken is consistently cooked, double battered and crispy.It comes in spicy and garlic soy. That flavor profile is in a few of the dishes and tends to be on the sweeter side, ie., fried rice. I recently was here 1/23/21 in the evening. I ordered octopus appetizer, coke, kimchee and Family Meal XL. our waitress was friendly, efficient and attentive, but a little unfamiliar with the "family meal XL" offerings. The food arrived promptly and was hot in temperature. It was my first time trying the fried rice and I found it to be too sweet. meal went well and when I received the bill the family meal deal was $40.95. When I asked the waitress she went to check and returned to tell me that the manager said that after they received the poster, corporate changed the price and is that ok? The manager should have told the waitress to lower our price to $36.95 and then take a black sharpie and cross off the price on the sign. That would have been good customer service. Just a warning to others: The Family meal deal is not $36.95 and to charge more than the advertised price is disingenuous. As a customer I don't mind paying $40.95, but if you advertise it lower and then charge me more without my knowledge- it is bad service and affects my Korean "han." Please use the sharpie and at least cross off the price! Don't blame corporate and next time, come to the table and tell me personally so I don't have to write this review about you. If we were in New Orleans and in better times we might say "Laissez les Bon-Chon rouler!" Who can resist the crispy crunchy deliciousness of twice fried Korean fried chicken? I had been wanting to try Bon Chon since they opened up here in AZ and I figured now was a good time as any, as I saw they offered a family meal which included chicken wings, drumsticks, fried rice and two sides for $34. Ordering was easy online and our order was securely packaged and ready to go for our dinner. The family meal includes each of the three flavors they offer: spicy, soy garlic and sweet crunch. You also get your choice of boneless or bone in wings. We opted for boneless. You can also choose 2 sides. We went with the coleslaw and pickled radish. The drumsticks were really well executed. I loved the crispy crunchy skin and out of the three flavors I liked the spicy the most. This one packed some heat! The meat was very tender and juicy. As for the wings, I didn't really like the boneless wings that much. They were thin little discs of battered nugget-like chicken. If I were to order wings from them next time I'd go with the bone-in. The sides were not very plentiful nor remarkable. The pickled radish was alright, I think it'd be hard to mess that up. The coleslaw was very bland and had large chunks of tough cabbage pieces in it. I actually chopped up some additional ingredients from home and added it to the coleslaw which made it taste a whole lot better. The fried rice that comes with the meal was just OK. It was a mixture of clumpy overcooked rice and crunchy undercooked rice. The flavor was good though and I liked the ample amount of veggies in it. While I enjoyed the fried chicken I do wish they offered more than just wings and drumsticks. Quite honestly the drumstick is my least favorite part of the chicken so if I were to get food from here again I'd be mainly eating their wings. I'd also ditch the family deal since it's not worth the extra money for the sides and fried rice. You're probably better off going to Asiana or Koreamart to get sides/banchan instead.
