I regularly go to Bondi Sushi in South Beach and the service there is always outstanding. This Midtown location was the complete opposite and I will not be returning. We made a reservation and called ahead specifically for omakase. We arrived at 7 pm on a Saturday night, and were told there was no omakase because they did not have enough fish. For a restaurant known for omakase and designed around bar seating for that experience, that is unacceptable. It only got worse. I ordered a beer. It never arrived, and after waiting I was told they were out. I ordered edamame. They were out of that too. Thats 7pm!!!! Thats just the beginning of dinner service on a Saturday!!!!! And the restaurant had maybe 8 people total inside. The server, a girl with long dyed red hair, started off polite but quickly became dismissive. I clearly explained that I am allergic to spicy food and asked for anything spicy on the side. Dishes kept arriving spicy anyway. Because of this, I could barely eat. My nose became completely blocked and I even started speaking differently from the reaction. Food also kept coming out wrong and very slowly. Eventually we left hungry and went next door to eat because it was impossible to get consistent service or correct dishes. At the end, instead of apologizing, the server commented that we seemed to be having fun and were even talking funny. It felt mocking, disrespectful, and unprofessional, especially considering I was reacting to the spicy food I had specifically asked to avoid. Between the lack of basic inventory at the start of the night, the repeated incorrect orders, and the dismissive attitude, this was one of the worst dining experiences I have had. This location does not reflect the standard of the South Beach restaurant. Zero stars if that were an option. read more

Randomly went into this place as we were walking by the area. So glad we did. Cute little vibe. Minimal seating but we got a spot at the bar right away. The seafoam drink was so different and delicious. The espresso martini was also good but nothing too special. We got a few of the crispy rice. They were all good but the lobster one was so amazing. Tasted super fresh like you were eating a mini lobster roll. What to go back and see if they have other items on the menu with lobster to try. Their n/a drinks options are pretty good as well, my yuzu matcha was delicious. And the desert yuzu creme brulee was also decent. One thing, there isn't much room inside for big parties, they only had one table for a group of 4, so keep that in mind if you're planning to come with friends. Prob one of the best happy hours around with $5 beers $5 hand rolls every weekday from 3-7. The fish is pretty fresh especially if you go early in the week --I have been once while they were busy and felt the fish was off but out of the 100 times I've been there I've never had a bad experience. The chefs are soooo nice and really give you the perfect portions. I wasn't aware the happy hour of $5 lobster hand rolls extended to salmon avocado, spicy crab, yellowtail, etc hand rolls too! As well as 6 piece crispy rice for $12, with cocktails priced at $8 and wine at $5. Very easy to overindulge here and I love it! The service is very fast and the staff is sweet and personable! It was easy to grab a table outside or at the bar around 6pm on a Thursday and I tried a bunch of things! My favorites were the lobster handroll, yellowtail crispy rice and my cocktail Seafoam was soooo pretty (and strong). Apparently there's lunch specials too! I always order from Bondi on Uber Eats and it always comes fresh and nicely packaged in a box separated with all of the accoutrements for sushi. I love that they have the cauliflower rice option. And you have to try the Wagyu dumplings. read more

I ordered takeout, The bliss box was great although the hamachi jalapeño roll was not up to par with what ive had from other restaurants. the spicy tuna was tiny and disappointing not as good as Moshi Moshi in regards to the flavor of the tuna and crispiness of the rice, the Sea Scallop Nigiri was tiny as well which is understandable because it was $9 but it was delicious, what really did it for me though was the horrible wait time (40 minutes for pickup) and the fact that they don't give you any wasabi & ginger with your order, soy sauce is all you get I've never seen that done before and im hoping that's not the norm. It wasn't originally our plan to dine there, but the sunset was beautiful and we wanted to sit outside and enjoy the view. While looking at the menu, we noticed they had bao buns, which was exactly what we were craving at the moment. Unfortunately, they were no longer available. We understand that items can run out, but it was disappointing since it was one of the main reasons we decided to stay. After going back and forth with the menu, we ended up ordering the crispy rice with salmon, wagyu gyozas, and the miso black cod. When the food arrived, the portions were extremely small. The wagyu gyozas were okay in flavor, but still very small. The miso black cod was especially disappointing -- it came with no sides, just a very thin piece of fish and a small amount of sauce. The fish itself was overly salty and not enjoyable, and the sauce didn't help either. For a dish like that, you would at least expect a proper accompaniment. The crispy rice with salmon had almost no flavor. It honestly didn't taste like much and was not memorable at all -- especially considering the prices. This isn't our first time dining out. We've experienced many restaurants both in Miami and in our home country, and we understand that smaller portions can be acceptable when the quality justifies it. In this case, it did not. The service was fine -- our server was polite and attentive -- but overall, the food was very disappointing. We were three people, including a child, and the portions were so small that it wasn't even possible to share. Unfortunately, this is not a place we would return to. read more

I got the spicy blue crab hand roll, which was really delicious. The crispy rice is priced at $12 as opposed to the normal 18. I got the spicy tuna crispy rice and the salmon crispy rice. The tuna was paired with jalapeño and avocado, and it was a classic spic tuna crispy rice as you would expect. The salmon and crispy rice however, was not good. It was just crispy rice with a thin piece of salmon on top. Nothing thoughtful about it like the tuna crispy rice. The crab roll came out quickly but the crispy rice took a while considering I was the only person in the restaurant. I just ate at bondi sushi for the first time. I was so happy with the service, Marco was my server I came to try the lunch special and everything was exceptional! It was busy but everything still came out at a very timely manner and Marco was able to help me pick out some of his favorite dishes on the menu as well. I tried the tuna crispy rice as well as the yellow tail and the lobster yuzu handroll. All three were delicious and the price for these items along with the quality is what blew me away. They have great quality fish and the vibe of the restaurant is so cute and the perfect place to grab lunch with your girlfriends. We ordered four dishes in total, and each one came out better than the last. We also had some sake--can't remember the name, but it was in a black can. Highly recommend it! Watching the sushi chef prepare your meal right in front of you adds a unique touch, and the freshness of the food is unquestioned! We left feeling pleasantly full, not overly stuffed or bloated from too much salt. The only drawback was the seating--at 5'3", my feet dangled and eventually fell asleep, making for an uncomfortable dining experience. I suggest raising the foot bar or switching your stools.
