First time eating at this place. Wonderful experience! From the welcome greeting to the food. I had the ribs plate. Great choice. I picked up the first rib and the meat literally fell onto the plate. Good sign I thought. The meat was perfectly done, well smoked, not over spiced and not smothered in sauce. My wife had the slider and said it was perfect and delicious as well. I'm not sure if we came on a off night, but there was quite the chaos back in the kitchen. (First red flag) seemed as if orders being placed weren't going out correctly. Whatever the situation was a lady calling out orders in the back (possibly the manager) didn't seem to be too happy. The next thing I noticed the ribs I ordered came out with some cold spots. With the amount of time we waited for our food (20-30mins) I was excepting to be served a hot plate. But that wasn't the case. Moving on to the fries, we had 3 servings of fries and let me tell you. These fries were too crispy to enjoy... Half of each portion had to be picked through to find the edible ones. They seemed too busy to check on customers. I usually will mention if I have an issue with my food if I go out and pay for a meal but I didn't even bother. We threw most of our dinner we ordered there away. Not to be a negative Nancy but in my honest opinion there's better options in the Reno/Sparks area. Don't think we will be coming back. I first learned about this restaurant through a Yelp! review and had been meaning to try it; so, I dropped by after work and picked up a rib platter for dinner, which included two sides (I chose mac & cheese and potato salad). I also added a hot link and purchased two pints of frozen custard. The gentleman behind the register recommended the caramel apple flavor and my second pint was called "party pig" which was basically "birthday cake" flavored frozen custard. The restaurant had only a few people dining in when I arrived so I stepped up to register to make my selections and was given a number while I waited. The gentleman at the register was super nice and hospitable; in fact, whomever is at the register would warmly greet each customer "Welcome In" when they walk through the door. I received my to-go order in less than 20 minutes. When I arrived at home and opened the to-go container, I was amazed at portions, it would've made for two meals (not bad for $19). The ribs were tender, the potato salad was good but I like the mac & cheese more. The hot link was just as advertised: hot! I normally don't like spicy food but it was good and the help of the potato salad and the caramel apple ice cream, I managed to finish the hot link; I saved half of the ribs for tomorrow. Worth a try. The $6 meal deal is awesome, and I think every restaurant should have this option. They have BBQ chicken breast, chicken tender, pulled pork and a cheeseburger to choose from on the meal deal combos. I'm excited to come back and make my way down the list to try them all. It's the perfect amount of food for a quick lunch. The pulled pork and fries were a great choice and I was surprised at how much food I received for such a small meal. I do like the housemade ranch, but i don't agree with charging a full dollar for a small side of it. The honey butter cornbread was a let down sadly, but maybe I'll have to give it another shot. It was too dry for my liking and the honey butter mostly ended up covering the serving tray it came to us on. But the absolute must try is the side of Mac n Cheese. It is perfectly cheesy, and delectable! Good service. Clean and spacious and well lit from the giant windows. I've been to this spot 2 (months apart). I've never been able to enjoy any of the food from the greens to the loaded fries or brisket. Some sides will have great flavor (mac & cheese) & some won't (collard greens) the brisket has a nice Smokey flavor to it but there's so much juice that it makes the texture mushy, you could grab the meet & wring it like a sponge. The service is good, it's all counter work. The place looks great but seating at a booth for my 2X folks, get ready to feel squished. Usually I give places a 2nd shot but this place sadly won't be getting that treatment from me. 3/10 read more

After seeing a ton of their IG posts we decided to head on over. I ordered the Jammi Sammi and it was everything! It was juicy, a little greasy and had so much flavor. I would probably add more of the bacon jalapeno jam because it was just that good! I added potato salad instead of the fries. The potato salad was more on the mustard side which of course is how I like it. It had crispy celery in it which makes it pretty great. My husband has the pulled pork and shrimp. He said it was all wonderfully flavored. He got the Mac and cheese and really loved it. The Mac and cheese didn't come out hot but the staff fixed it quickly! Staff came by a few times to check on us which was nice. I wish they had sweet tea (if they did I didn't see it). I asked about the ingredients in the custard but I was told they didn't know. We appreciated the complimentary custard ice cream cones which were tasty, but given to us while we were still eating our orders, which was a bit awkward to maneuver. I'm so glad I finally checked out Bone Appétit BBQ's new Sparks location--it did NOT disappoint! I tried the BBQ chicken, pulled pork, and hot link sliders, and everything was . The Lemon Pepper and Honey Hot Tenders were super juicy, and the ranch was amazing. The sides? Wow. The potato salad was perfectly creamy, and the mac & cheese, with that smoked gouda, was hands down the best I've had from any BBQ spot. Oh, and the frozen custard? Totally hit the spot! I can't recommend this place enough--great food, great vibes, and definitely worth the visit! read more

The food wasn't that great to me. Everything tasted too sour and the Pepsi tasted slightly like Rootbeer? It was odd. Nice ambiance though and the salad bar was great! Last night we bright home two rib platters from Bone Appetit. Tonight, we came back to get more. The ribs are absolutely delicious. Meaty, tender, with a great BBQ smoke flavor. The sauce was fantastic; very flavorful and not overly sweet or vinegary. The portions are generous. The sides were equally tasty. The coleslaw was outstanding, excellent fries and the collard greens had more pork than greens, which I'm all about. So happy to have Bone Appetit in the neighborhood. read more

They're newer to the area but absolutely not new to throwing down some mean BBQ. I got to know them via one of the managers at my work. A husband and wife team that are Vegas transplants getting a change of scenery and came up to the Biggest Little City. I stalked the food truck during events and such since that was their home base until the Reno Public Market gave several of our local food trucks and smaller vendors a shot at having a home space. I'm very thankful they've joined the mix. I started following them on socialism they've been working tirelessly to finally have a spot to call their own. First and foremost, the service is dynamite. They always have a great approach with customers. They are some of the most real and humble people. Even when things are crazy and lines are long I've never seen anything but the most calm and genuine interactions with guests. But the real selling point here is the food obviously, and I've slowly ate my way through the menu and can say hands down everything is top notch. I'd say if I had to pick two overall favorites it's the hot links and the ribs. If you wanna really have a great experience though... grab the "Get Down Sammie" it's got a little bit of everything and immediately sends you on a walk through flavortown. If you've been a fan of the truck they've got all the same greatness but they also added a salad bar into their Reno Public Market location so you can take your friends that enjoy a lighter fare and not feel too guilty. If you wanna get some BBQ that's gonna leave you thinking about getting another plate..... check these guys out. Great food, great people and great service! read more

This place is a hidden gem! They have the best BBQ in the Reno/Sparks area. For years I've had to travel to Sacramento to get BBQ with this flavor. I am happy to have discovered Bone Appétit! The meat and sauce have the rich and smokey flavor like only the old time Southern grandpa's make. The Mac and cheese and bean's are good, as are their tacos. I haven't tried their potato salad yet, and I'm not a fan of cole slaw, and theirs has too vinegar for my liking, but some may like it. I'm not a big BBQ person, I know it's basically blasphemy at this point. But seriously, if given a choice, I'd never pick BBQ on my own. M mouth doesn't drool when a smoked brisket is cut open etc. Low and behold, I'm at a charity event with 2 food truck (daddy's tacos, 1st choice, humongous ass line), the other one had double the line or more so regrettably got in this food truck line. We got the pulled pork and a shrimp skewer, cornbread and potato salad. Turn around time is fast, like within 5-10 minutes. I'm starving so I dig into the slider that was pulled pork (again charity event with meal tickets so smaller portions). My taste buds rejoice! Some tangy, some sweet, something creamy (coleslaw)... I was truly content. I analyzed (shut up "fOoDiE) bc why and how could I love this? The bread, absolutely, hard shell soft inside coincidentally my favorite, the *actual* smoke flavor of the pork that gave it a ton of flavor on its own without sauce... that's it though, the sauce! They don't drench the meat in a heavy, tomato, brown sugar bowl sauce. It's light, fairly vinegary and opaque in color. They allow the meat to shine, and the sauce to be the background, meaning they put sauce on the sandwich, but don't drench it. A month or two later I ended craving their pulled pork sandwich and remembered they have brick and mortar countertop service @ reno public market. So go in and order the sandwich, see the shrimp po, well, we gotsta try that too. I say it's for cory, but he never touched either sandwich. Took me 2 days, but talk about yum!! This place is located in the public market which awesome in of itself!!! The nachos are great. Nacho to stuff,(cheese,pull pork,sour cream, etc.) was perfect!!! The flavors were sweet, spicy and the texture was crunchy and creamy. We will be back to try more!!! read more

We were in Reno and looking for a BBQ place, but it was a holiday and nearly every other BBQ place was closed. Luckily, we found Bone Appetit...here is what we noticed: - The address on the Yelp review was wrong and took us to the wrong location, but we pursued and eventually found it by calling them. They are actually located in the Reno Public Market, 299 E Plumb Ln, Reno, NV 89502. - We had never been to the Reno Public Market but it a big food court adjacent to a strip Mall, and it has a bar in the middle with lots of TV screens...overall, it was pretty fun but don't expect a sit-down restaurant. - I ordered the 4-Meat Combo and my wife ordered the 2-Meat Combo, and we both selected sides of salad bar and mac n cheese. The salad bar was sufficient, but fresh...and they made a point of mentioning that it was unlimited. The portion sizes were huge...I think my wife and I could have just split the bigger dish, but that didn't stop me from polishing it off myself anyway. The meats came with cole slaw, which was ok but very basic. The meats were very good...especially the ribs and hot links. The shrimp was a bit too salty, but the mac n cheese side was the bomb. I was very disappointed in the fact that they have meat plates but you aren't allowed to have more than one of the same meat on your plate. But instead they told me I could buy the 3 meats separately and sides separately for more than triple the price ( their excuse the computer won't let them put the same meat more than once). I also bought a salad bar not knowing that once I went to get my salad it states that if you want ranch you will need to go back to the register and pay for it. I first had Bone Appetit when they were still in Reno Public Market and enjoyed their food a couple of times. I am by no means a BBQ connoisseur, but I've had a good share from across the country, and for some reason, Bone Appetit has stood above a lot of places for some of the BEST pork ribs I've ever had. I can't stand that they put green onions on everything (never cared for this food trend, and they happily oblige when I say no onion) but will absolutely still drive my ass over to their new spot to get them. They are always super friendly, and the restaurant is always clean when I've come in. Recently, I realized how damn good their chicken tenders are too! I've been giving my money to Cane's across the street from them for years, and feel so bad now as they have much better tenders that are actually seasoned, better fries and their own version of Cane's sauce for MUCH cheaper than them. A 3 piece tender and fries (mind you, you can swap the fries to any of their awesome sides for no charge) for only 10 dollars. This is the same price for a 3 piece at canes, but the tenders at Bone Appetit are quite literally 3-4 times the size and it's all fresh. They also have their own version of the Chili's Triple Dipper, and yes, it is cheaper and better and comes with more food. Bone Appetit used to be my go to BBQ ribs spot, but now they are also my chicken tender spot and I hope they thrive in their new location after dealing with RPM. read more

One of the better salads I've ever had at a restaurant so it's been 6 mos or longer since I've ordered. I was pleased to see it back on the menu. The ribs were cut in half rather than lengthwise and I didn't care for that. There was a lot of fat on ribs but the flavor was a 10/10. Potato salad and Mac and cheese very bland.
