I've been wanting to try this chain restaurant for a while after seeing it in other parts of the Midwest. I would say that the food was great for the most part. The Bang Bang Shrimp tacos was on point, the mussels were tasty, and the ceviche was ice cold, but a little more sour than I'm used to. Prices are normal, not too expensive. The crowd was older. Late 30s and up come to this place. I saw most of them gathering around the bar. The place was newly and nicely built. My main problem with this particular location was the service. We had a server named Michael I believe and he was just horrible. He came to give us our menus and take our appetizers, but that was about it. Unless he was bringing us our food, he wouldn't come back - not even when it was time to get the check. He did not come to check up on us at all. We had to flag him down and then flag down one of his coworkers to get him for us. We would see him hanging out by the kitchen door talking to other workers. I understand that it was close to closing time and we were his last table, but he could have been a lot more attentive throughout the night. I think the management really needs to keep an eye on their servers. If you see that your server is hanging out in the back doorway or by the kitchen door just talking, you really need to make sure they are doing their job. Chef must have been having a bad night. The restaurant ambiance and service was better than the food. Tasteless cod, tasteless grilled salmon. Horrible corn and lump crab soup. I never like writing a bad review but, in this case, at least for us, it is warranted! Being our 43rd wedding anniversary we were excited to spend a nice evening together and have a nice romantic dinner. As a result, we misjudged the time and arrived almost a half hour before our reservation. They were happy to seat us early. This is where our positive experience ended. I didn't expect to have a paper tablecloth at what I thought was a fine dining establishment, I jokingly asked my wife if we would get crayons. I couldn't help but notice that someone must have put a cold glass of something on the table because our classy paper tablecloth had a moisture mark on it. It looked as though it wasn't even properly set for a customer to be seated at it. We received bread almost immediately, which was a plus. Unfortunately, we did not have any plates to put the bread upon. My wife asked one of the servers for plates and she rolled her eyes as if it was an inconvenience to give them to us. After that my wife asked me if I wanted to go somewhere else. I said no because so many people had told us how good the food was. After 43 years you'd think I would have learned to listen to her. Our waitress, who seemed nice enough, came by to take our order. For a starter we ordered the TEMPURA CRUNCH SASHIMI TUNA*. Although the Tuna was very fresh and tasty, we could not find the "tempura crumbles". The textural element was missing and missed. It was also served on a bed of rusty lettuce. When it came time to order our entre, we were told several items were not available because I believe she said the oven wasn't working. Of course, the item I wanted to order; the "COD IMPERIAL" was one of the items that couldn't be made. Disappointed I told the waitress that I would have the Filet Mignon (medium rare) and shrimp. My wife then ordered the Filet Mignon (medium rare) with Lobster tail. After my wife finished ordering the waitress asked me what I wanted??? Really, she didn't get it the first time!!!! For sides we both got the GARLIC WHIPPED POTATOES. My wife got the seasonal vegetable, which was broccoli, and I got the KUNG PAO BRUSSELS SPROUTS. Disappointment continues: My wife's steak was cooked nicely, mine on the other hand was blue! Remember we both ordered them medium rare! My wife's lobster tail came out extremely overcooked. It was dry and tasteless, but don't worry my shrimp came out under cooked so I guess in the end it all evened out. When I think of whipped potatoes, I imagine them to be very smooth and creamy, mine had small pieces of potato. Neither of us could taste any garlic. Try Applebee's so you know what good garlic whipped potatoes should taste like. Don't think for a moment the vegetables were any better! The broccoli was over cooked and some of it was yellow! I always thought broccoli was supposed to be a vibrant green and not limp when cooked correctly. The brussels sprouts came out burnt and I could not taste the sweet and spicy kung pao sauce at all! Overall, the food lacked any flavor! We told the waitress how disappointed we were with the whole experience, and she could see we left most of the food, as it was inedible. She then asked us if we wanted a to go box! REALLY!!!! We just got done telling you the food was tasteless and (depending on the item) over or under cooked. Her response was, "We are required to ask"! If that is truly the policy, it needs to have exceptions! I was surprised when she brought the check the entrees were removed, but I was more surprised she didn't have a manager come over to talk to us... Not that it would have made a difference and magically made the food or experience good. Other than the reduction in the bill I don't think anyone really cared! So, we came to Bonefish for cocktails and appetizers. We seated on the patio because it's the safest way with Covid. A couple older white folks, yes, it does come to this, sadly, come and are seated at a table well away from us. For some reason, they moved to the table right next to us. A couple more people join them and then a few minutes later they have the shade lowered, which stopped all air flow and made it much hotter. I asked for them to raise the shade as it was quite a bit warmer. The waiter said he couldn't because another guest asked him to lower it. I asked the manager to come speak with me. He did and I explained the scenario above. He then said he would ask them if they would move, leaving it up to them as if somehow they are higher in the pecking order. They agree to move and the manager is so grateful, he offers them a free round of drinks. I express my disbelief that they create a scenario in which they can look like they're being kind even though they created the whole mess to start with. Ask me if I think it had something to do with the fact that my wife and I are a mixed race couple? How could I see it any other way. We were treated as less than and people who created a problem received a bonus for it. Disappointed in the management and staff at this Bonefish. This is where things need to change, everyday how you're treated. Perhaps the bottom line frustrating thing about this visit is the complete indifference the waiter showed. It affected this review. It affected his tip. The response of management, however disappointing, would have had no bearing on the servers tip. I hate bring out in this position but, when I am, I will do and say exactly what needs to be said. They had several opportunities to make a better decision and did not choose us worthy of their respect. Pleasantly surprised by the curbside order that I made today. Of course, I assumed their food was good, but this is the 1st time I have had it, and it was by a curbside order. We were using gift cards. Blown away. The order was brought out as soon as I arrived by a friendly young lady. And when everything was unpacked at home it was as hot and fresh as if it was brought to my table in the restaurant. Generous portions. Delicious flavor. Excellent quality and ingredients. I had the wrong impression about this place; I thought it was one of those 'throw your peanut shells on the floor' places but it's anything but that. BG is a classy, almost upscale kind of place with great modern decor and excellent customer service. We made reservations and were greeted by a very friendly hostess. We sat in a nice booth and had great service from a friendly and helpful server. I enjoyed a tropical martini at happy hour prices before ordering and then thoroughly loved the Rainbow Trout....the mashed potatoes were especially good but then, I kinda have a thing for mashed potatoes so maybe that's just me. I was suckered in to going to Bonefish Grill because of the email advertisement sent to me. My husband and I both ordered the rose shrimp linguini. My husband's came with 6 shrimp and mine had 4. The server Chasity S found one extra under the pasta. My husband's shrimp was plump and healthy looking. My shrimp was shriveled up and half the size of his. Chasity S the server asked if I wanted another shrimp, since my husband's had more than mine. I said sure. About three minutes later, a girl came by the table and identified herself as Katie the manger. She asked what's the problem. I explained. She said the meal comes with five shrimp and that's that and walked away. Very unfriendly. No smile. Did not say hello how are you. Very stoic. I have two concerns here. First, Chasity S the server offered the extra shrimp. I did not ask for anything extra. Second, the Chasity S the server sent Katie the manager to tell me she can't give me the one shrimp she offered. Why didn't Chasity S come out and tell me? That was weird. In hindsight, I should have just sent the meal back. It was untouched when Katie the manager came over, and it tasted horrible. My husband packed 95+% of mine to take with him. Bonefish Grill has lost a repeat customer. It's the principle. What would it have cost to get me, the customer, that Chasity S the server offered? I would have had a higher opinion of the restaurant. As far as ambience, it was horrible. We were seated near the kitchen. The staff were in the kitchen talking loudly and using inappropriate language. The conversations were mostly inappropriate. I would suggest they get kitchen doors that can stay closed or not seat customers near there. The doors were open for most of the time we were there. It would seem that Katie the manager would have addressed the staff in the back. I'm sure she absolutely heard them, as I saw her going back and forth to the kitchen. That group of six HS friends met January 15 for a catch-up. We've been out numerous times since our last visit to Bonefish. This location seemed to work well for all of us this time. Gideon was our server. He seemed to be serving the entire bar area. Hmm! YET, he did a great job!! We got potstickers, waygu sliders, cod sliders and another dish we didn't order. The potstickers were incredible with full-good innards and lovely garnish and sauce to complete the taste. The waygu sliders were crispy on the outside (not a good omen for a tender burger), kinda like hockey pucks. They were not a good taste, but the sauce and garnish helped -- A LOT! The cod sliders were HUGE, incredibly hot right out of the fryer. Wonderful, beautifully fried cod. Tender, moist fish. And the lettuce, tomato, onion and sauce accoutrements added good flavor and a balance of fresh. The dish we didn't order I did not taste. It was a base of fries. What happened here? I was happy to get a seat on Friday night for some pre-holiday shopping. I'm generally a fan but tonight was definitely "meh". The fried calamari appetizer was about a cups worth sprinkled on top of a huge mound of wonton noodles and shredded lettuce. Um...who you kiddin?!? My Cobb Salad with grilled shrimp came dry. Stopped by for lunch last week craving baked cod. Fish was excellent. My two sides were coleslaw and spinach. The spinach had way too much garlic. I attempted to make it palatable with lemon juice, but it was just too strong. There was also heavy garlic in the EVOO served with the bread. Service was excellent. A bit over priced for lunch. Ran over a large amount of glass from a broken bottle in the parking lot, which is adjoined to the Drury Inn. read more

Loved going here and would recommend getting the Nowait app! First off the free bread is UGHMAZING, comes with the most delicious herb in oil dipping sauce. When the bread is good then you know what you're getting yourself into already. Baja Fish Taco: Large portions, 3 jumbo tacos was definitely enough. The mango could have added more of a sweetness. I would have also loved some acidity, maybe from some pickled cabbage. The fish was crispy and the sauce was a nice complement. The contrast of textures made for an interesting dynamic. Would recommend for sure! Appetizer: Potstickers These are very flavorful, but some of them were a lot saltier than others. Overall well seasoned filling and the veggies on top was a nice break from the saltiness. Expected these to be pan fried but they were not, which made them different! Soup: Lobster bisque Pretty standard, nice seafood taste and seasoning. Not too much salt and came in a great appetizer size. Shrimp Tacos: Echos most of the similar thoughts of the Baja fish; came in the same fluffy tortilla. Unfortunately I didn't get to try this taco as I do not eat shrimp, but boyfriend approved! We had reservations for 7:30 and my husband had specified a table not a booth when he made the reservation. We arrived early and were informed we could not be seated until closer to our reservation time. The lady at the hostess station was very nice. When they went to seat us they were going to put us in a corner rounded booth. My husband is a big person and my mother in law has a bad knee. Sitting in a booth like that is not going to work. We had to wait 10 minutes for a table and when they sat us the table looked like it was falling apart. The top was wobbling and the ends tilted so bad that the plate nearly fell off. The server forgot to ask for a drink order so we all stuck with water. He brought out bread for us but we didn't have any napkins while we ate the bread. We did place an order for calamari. When the calamari came out the head chef brought it out. I asked for silverware and he stated they were running behind and trying to catch back up. When the meals came out my mother in law had ordered chicken Marsala and they brought out pasta. I ordered the grilled trout, my daughter ordered the pasta with salmon, my husband ordered the bam bam fish tacos, and my father in law got the fish and chips. After about 20 minutes they sent out her side orders for her chicken but no chicken. 15 minutes after she got her sides the chicken Marsala came out and we were told the meal was comped. He apologized and we expressed that we understood. All the meals were good. I wouldn't say spectacular but they were good. I have to give them props for still maintaining decent customer service while being short staffed. The main thing that really bothered me was that they do not wipe the tables down at all between diners. They have paper on the tables that they take off and replace between diners which made me uncomfortable after seeing it. People still touch the sides of the tablecloth and the salt and pepper shakers. It appears they do not take this pandemic seriously. The second thing I would do is throw that table out of the dining room. We had to be seriously careful while we ate because the whole table top felt like it was falling off. Will I return? Maybe after the pandemic is over, but not too sure even then. read more

Met friends last night at Bonefish Grill~ was wonderful. Hubby and I arrived early to put our names in then went to the bar area where they said first come first serve on seating. 3/4 of the tables had not been cleaned so luckily we found a chair at the bar- perfect! (Not for sure what took so long with the tables being cleaned as we sat for 30 minutes before they finally started cleaning them.). The bar tender was perfect and the bar area is nice to enjoy the ambience! We were seated and thanks to Sarah- our whole experience was fantastic! KUDOS on a job well done from start to finish!!! First off, per usual, food was spectacular. I had a Caesar salad, Atlantic salmon with the Pan Asian sauce and sides of Jasmine rice and broccoli. My mom had the mahi mahi + shrimp platter with the creamed spinach and broccoli. But that's not why I'm leaving this review. We had the PLEASURE of having John O. as a server. He was not only attentive, kind, and helpful with recommendations, but he was so personable and an absolute hoot! I literally want to be his friend. He went above and beyond for my mom and I. We never been here before and a friend wanted to try it. Food was just ok for the price. Service wasn't the best. The waitress needed improved listening skills since most of the order was wrong. They tried to serve my friend, what was clearly a sirloin, when she ordered a filet mignon. All of her sides were wrong. The manager tried to explain that the "filet" was smashed with a steak iron to cook it faster and that's why it was only an inch thick. That is not how a filet is cooked. I'm not sure why he would lie about it being a filet but he did comp her meal. Our food came out at different times as well. I hate when that happens. You're sitting there waiting for your food while others at the table eat. It shouldn't happen especially at a restaurant that tries to be "upscale". Whenever I come to Bonefish Grill I'm always happy with my decision. It's a solid choice that won't let you down. I had the Cobia on a previous visit which was delicious. However, one of the most memorable items on the menu is the Bang Bang Shrimp. We started with the Saucy Shrimp which is amazing. Be sure to say yes when asked if you'd like bread since the two go well together. I also had the Bang Bang Shrimp tacos since it allowed me to order my favorite appetizer as a main dish. The three tacos were very filling since there's plenty of shrimp in each of them. The Potatoes Au Gratin are also amazing and nicely done. I even tried the Shrimp Pad Thai which was very flavorful. This is definitely a place that's always on my list of lunch or dinner options. read more

The brunch either the unlimited sangria, peach Bellinis, or mimosas is a great deal. Plus they have a reward program that keeps you coming. The steak was chewy (despite it being a supposedly tender cut), and the crab cake was only OK, with a soggy breading. My husband has taken me here a few times for date night. It is a nice seafood restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. The food selection is large and the specials are even better. While the food is always good, the service has been hit and miss. Went last Wednesday and the service left much to be desired. Not sure I'll go back... the server told us she was tired because she had "been serving alone at the bar"....she also showed us she was tired. Took 20 minutes for my husband to get a draft beer, then he asked if he could order another before happy hour ended and sge checked her cell phone and advised she would try... we both ordered steak and lobster. No butter came out with the lobster, we asked for butter. 10 min later, still no butter and my lobster was cold... When paying she forgot to ring in my reward number (which had a coupon on it) and said she would add it to another order when she checked them out... sge didn't do that either as it sends me an email. Bonefish is one of my go-to options for little more than casual dinner. The tables and booths are nice and the waitstaff is professional and is seemingly run well. I normally get the bang bang shrimp as appetizer. It is fried, sweet, mayo based sauce, how can that not be good lol. I also had crab fried rice, and it was excellent. The house salad I had was unremarkable except for the hearts of palm. I have never had it in a salad and it had a strange taste. There are many seafood options on the menu worth trying. Went a few years back and it was awesome. Came back tonight for my birthday and it was terrible. The best thing on the table was the bread. The server was good and offered to pay for the meal himself. However, that should be the restaurant's job, not his. Bang bang shrimp sucked, the lobster tail was not good, drinks were way too sweet; took a few sips of the first one, tried the second one, tried to drink them but they were awful and $10 apiece. Happened at the first restaurant we were at couldn't help but notice that if we were of another color we would've gotten better service. Then I get my food and on top of it it's overcooked and cold. Went to Bonefish Grill with high expectations. When u saw Chilean Seabass on the menu I knew this must be a great place. The appetizer of Bang Bang shrimp was an excellent starter as was our salads. I had the wedge that was delicious. When our fish arrived I was wondering if I was at Schnucks prepackaged fish aisle. The portion was small at about no bigger than 4"x5" and half the cut size of a legally caught seabass . I was surprised it met the minimum criteria. It was prepared well, but highly disappointing for a seafood meal. Servers did an excellent job. Sides of spinach and taters were plentiful but lacked seasoning. I have to say that I was very disappointed in my experience here. We arrived and they had the reservations wrong. Once seated, it was 35 minutes until our orders were taken, and 75 minutes until our dinner actually got to the table. I ordered the Ahi Tuna as did a friend of mine. We both ordered ours medium rare, first because the server said they tend to undercook them, and second to ensure there was still some red to it, but not raw. What came to the table was nearly well done. It was hard, dry and flaky. And to top it off, my portions was about 1/2 to 3/4 the size of my friends. I happened to have had a time restriction, but had the food come to the table in a reasonable amount of time, I would have sent it back. As it was, I didn't even get to see it much, because I had to have it boxed so I could leave. A disappointing experience to say the least. Doubtful I'd go back. Too bad I can't give 0 stars. read more
