We sat at the bar actually got there with like 2 mins left before happy hour was ending. Thomas was the bartender he was fantastic great personality and quick with getting our order submitted. We decided to sit at the bar bc we felt a little underdressed as it was very dim lighting and most of the individuals were on what look to be like date night. The brussel sprouts were hands down my favorite. Wasn't a big fan of the checked my friend had the shrimp and I think they would've been a better choice. Over all service and food was good.

We came here to celebrate at the recommendation of the event. Upon entry, the place was warm and cozy, look classic with booth and tables. The place is large and would be great for large groups. The hostess greeted is and sat us at a booth. The waitress quizzing arrived and took our drink orders. Since it was our first time, she was very knowledgeable of the menu and answered our questions and made recommendations. We started with calamari for appetizer and highly recommend it. The cod imperial with premium side of Brussel sprouts was delicious. The baby bang shrimp tacos were ok for me though my friends loved it. The key lime cake was too dense. I do not recommend. Should have gone with the creme brulee. Overall the service was great and would come back though since dishes are a hit or miss!

Imperial sea bass with pumpkin ravioli (huge disappointment)
    Tara G.

I dined at my local Bonefish Grill in Fredericksburg, Virginia tonight. I was extremely disappointed! Let's start with the fact that 10 minutes passed before first contact was made with our table. Our waitress apologized and said that they were having a little "pow wow" in the kitchen. The ultimate disappointment came with the highly anticipated Swordfish and Pumpkin Ravioli this year! Last year I had the swordfish with the pumpkin ravioli for the first time in September 2023. I was so impressed with the dish, I went back in November 2023, to celebrate my birthday, and have it again. It was exquisite! When I saw that it was on the menu again this year, I could not wait to go back to get the swordfish and pumpkin ravioli once again. I bragged to everyone about it, and was dining with both my husband and my adult son this evening. While my husband and son had the Imperial Sea Bass, they each chose the pumpkin ravioli and the Kung Pao Brussels for their sides. I also paid an up charge for the Kung Pao Brussels, in replace of the green beans. I thought my dish looked a lot different than it did last year. And I was not mistaken. I had no pumpkin sauce on it whatsoever this year. It was instead floating in an oil. It tasted dry and bland. The same could be said in regard to the swordfish. It was terribly dry. What a disappointment! I can only assume that you changed the recipe from last year. Because none of us had any sauce on our ravioli. Not to mention, that I barely got any feta or toppings on mine, like I had last year. Just for reference, i'm leaving the pictures of my food from last year up, and then the food from tonight. Between the three of us, we spent more than $200 on appetizers, entrées, and dessert, and we didn't even have beverages. I just cannot begin to explain how disappointed I really am. I was looking forward to this meal all week.

    Tempura Lobster Risotto

Stopped in for dinner and I always enjoy the atmosphere in Bonefish. Elegant but yet comfortable. We started with the crab imperial dip and to be honest, it was clumpy and not very smooth. The flavor was lost in the texture and greasy cheese. Bread is always good at Bonefish so I enjoyed that before our meal. I had the tempura lobster risotto. The meal was ok...a bit heavy on the grease and less focus on the flavor. The risotto was clumpy and not the best but the overall meal was ok. Hubby enjoyed his stuffed lobster and had no complaints. Service was good and attentive.

Tried to order three different beers, and every one of them was "not available today," which is restaurant talk for "the truck's late and so are we." Artie the bartender just gave this little shoulder shrug that said, "Partner, I don't make the rules, I just open the bottles." The place itself helped the afternoon along. The building is laid out so you can see just about everything from your stool: bar, tables, who's coming in the door, and whether your food is on its way. Sightlines were wide open, nothing cluttered or cramped, and the whole joint looked super clean, like somebody actually cares what it looks like before the crowd shows up. So we did what any sensible, thirsty people would do: picked two other beers, ordered some apps, and decided not to take life--or the tap list--too seriously. The beer we got was cold, the food was hot, and Artie turned out to be the kind of bartender you come back to see more than you come back for the menu. We'll be back, too. Lewis would've gotten a whole column out of that shrug. The food was excellent, too. The fish bites alone just about made the afternoon; if the beer list had completely fallen apart, we still would've called it a win on those.

Since learning that, we have made our own oyster tradition and seek to have them in January because it can't hurt! I saw that Port Oysteria was participating in FXBG restaurant week which is happening now and thought it was a great opportunity for us to try someplace new and get our oysters. While we did not order anything from the restaurant week specials (there was only one at lunch, and a couple more after 3pm) my wife and I did enjoy a nice lunch today. The chargrilled oysters were just right for us to share as a starter and very tasty. My wife had the fried oyster po-boy and I had the blackened grouper sandwich; both were delicious. The coleslaw was good as was the Parmesan mashed potatoes. There is a good beer selection on tap and an interesting cocktail list. Our first beer choice was out, but our backup choices were good. Service was good but the restaurant was not very busy. The atmosphere is interesting with moody, dark painted walls and bold murals and a mix of '90s grunge and alt-pop music in the background. We definitely want to go back for dinner sometime and try more of the menu.

Wasn't sure I wanted to have fried food at first but so glad I decided to try it anyway. It turned out to be one of the best food trucks we'd had. Ordered whiting with fries - the portion was huge with 3 pieces of fish in a tasty, dry and non greasy batter - which softened a bit on the way so not as crispy but still very good. As prices go it was a great deal at $10 - given the substantial amount of food I still had one piece of fish plus a bunch of fries left, enough for a bonus lunch tomorrow. Only thing for improvement: they should substitute paper containers for the styrofoam boxes which are not suitable for piping hot fried food like this as parts of the boxes were totally melted through by the heat.

Yes, there are "trendy" restaurants downtown with a larger and rotating, seasonal, or farm-to-table menu. But Olde Towne Steak & Seafood is wonderful. The steak is always cooked to perfection, the shrimp in the Shrimp Cocktail are ENORMOUS, the stuffed mushrooms are (chef's kiss), their cocktails (especially dirty martinis) are wonderful, and their prime rib is as big as an infant's head. The interior could use a bit of an upgrade. I went there for my Senior prom in 1990 and although it is still cozy and inviting -especially fireside-the clean, classic decor could use a bit of a perking up. No minor issues like decor can obscure the wonderful service! A LOT of servers in this area consider waiting tables just a job to be done and gotten over with and customers a nuisance. Whether they truly feel it or not, the staff here present themselves as practicing their vocation. But none of this compares to the warmth and personal attention of Mrs. Hyon Harding, the owner. Mrs. Hyon always greets you like you are a welcome guest - not a dollar sign. She takes the time during each visit to personally visit each table to make sure everything is to your satisfaction and you are happy. And it is not just some token "drive by." You can tell she really does care and wants you to have a good experience. All of this beats truffle fries and Mac and cheese, rosemary mashed potatoes, and "locally foraged mushrooms" in my book and always will.

Went on a Sunday night and there maybe 5 other tables occupied, each had over 5 patrons and we had a table near the main fireplace. The atmosphere was as expected no change over the years. Room temperature was great, a bit cool for my wife but that is normal. Our sever (Callie was exceptional and very responsive to our requests) came to the table promptly and took our drink order. Water and tea, no alcohol. Delivered quickly. We also got bread, not warm and very unimpressive. Orders were placed we recovered our salads with dressing on them and I had requested it on the side, not a big issue butt the meal proceeds to go down hill rapidly from there. My salad tasted like it had been sitting out for a while (wet wilted and soggy) and the only flavor it had was the fresh cracked pepper. I honestly expected more from the salad then iceberg lettuce, 2cherry tomatoes and a couple of cucumber slices. Blue cheese dressing was only identifiable because it was what I requested. Prime rib was over cooked but the portion was as ordered. Bake potato was dry and very overdone, 3 servings of sour cream to make it editable. My wife's seafood was equally tasteless, the lobster was great but the scallops tasted funny". Had more bread during the meal cold and tasteless. The best part of the meal by far wast he dessert, chocolate cake with whipped cream and strawberries, plated beautifully. Overall a 2.0 for the meal quality was mediocre at best, desert and service would rate a 4.5 (Callie was a 5.0 as a server). And the owner manager did not come by our table but did visit all the other tables. On the way out she said how was your meal I said very underwhelming and she just glared at me. I didn't complain to keep our 36th wedding anniversary fun, but after getting in the car and driving off my wife stated that wasn't worth it we will find a new anniversary place. In my opinion we could have eaten at a big box steakhouse (T/R) 5 times and higher quality for the ($150) price.
