Long story short, this place is not what it used to be. The food quality has noticeably declined, and unfortunately, the service made the experience even worse. We were literally the first guests of the day, so there's really no excuse. Our waitress brought water to the table, spilled it, and never came back to clean it up. When our food arrived, one of the plates was completely wrong due to her entering the order incorrectly. There was no apology. She simply grabbed the plate and walked away. Mistakes happen. But poor service with zero accountability makes it hard to overlook everything else. Between the decline in food quality and the lack of basic customer care, this visit was extremely disappointing. We were out globe trotting and upon our return from the Carolinas we stopped at one of our Facorite Spots...you got it, Bonefish. We found out years ago that although the same franchise some have slightly different menus. The place had plenty of free parking and the outside looked fantastic. We came here recently for dinner. Never been here before, but felt fortunate to get reservations on the same day. It was definitely busy. We arrived, greeted by a friendly hostess, and quickly sat in a booth near the back wall. We were shortly greeted by our enthusiastic waiter who wasted no time in getting our drink orders. We pondered the menu which was filled with an array of great looking appetizers, salads and entrees. They had quite a lot to choose from, so we opted for the Imperial Dip (a blend of seafood with cheese and house-made tortilla chips). A few minutes later, the dip arrived and we dove in. This thing was really rich and decadent. The chips were perfectly done and held up to the dredging of the dip well. Did I say this was rich? Indeed! Pretty sure I could feel my arteries hardening, but it was worth it. For dinner, I opted for the butterfish (special), with a side of potatoes and salad. She got the crab cakes with rice and salad. We sat and peered out among the other patrons for a while as we waited for our meals to arrive. The salads were delivered pretty quickly, and dove in. Good array of fresh lettuce and accoutrements. Blue chees dressing was on point and zesty. However, half-way through our salads, they decided to drop off the entrees. I know I don't speak for everyone, but I'd like to at least finish my salad BEFORE the entree is dropped on the table. Finishing our salads, we started the entrees. The butterfish was succulent, but towards the middle it was a bit underdone. Still, it was definitely a good choice and had all the delicacy of crab meat in a buttery sauce. The potatoes tasted quite good. She enjoyed the crab cakes (I got a bite). Seasoned well and with a remoulade sauce that was a great accompaniment. She said the rice was pretty good. I didn't bother to try, as I'm not a huge fan of plain rice. Finishing our meals, we decided to share the Key Lime Cake. Sounded good to me. It was delivered quickly, but with two spoons? Don't think I've eaten cake with a spook since I was 4 years old. I asked for forks instead. The cake was multi-layered, rich, and zesty with lime flavor. It was delicious and certainly one that I would recommend to anyone who likes key lime pie. We did pretty well, only leaving a few bites behind, but we had both had enough. All in all, the experience at Bonefish Grill was a nice one. Very few flaws, but something they can certainly correct. The food was good overall, as were the other items. Not sure what it was but wanted to leave this review in hopes of helping others be informed. **I've visited this location multiple times over the past year and I will not be going back. ** Here's why: I went with my boyfriend and ordered a steak and asked that it be cooked medium, the steak came out way undercooked and I'm truly not the type of person to send food back into the kitchen because I'm aware that it then usually will be thrown away and wasted and I didn't want anyone to have to do that just to make me a new meal. So let me first start off by saying the pros are this place is really beautiful and obviously well managed. The manager came over and told us if we needed anything we could talk to him. The service was great and everything was super clean. I went into the ladies restroom and it smelled super good. BUT there are some pretty big cons which is the food... Everything is really expensive. I'm talking $20 for a burger which would be fine if everything wasn't super bland like we ordered soda and I guess that they make it themselves or something because it was really really bland it tasted like water. I got a burger and I've had better burgers at Burger King and my boyfriend got the chicken and he said it was OK, but it was just bland. Terrible. Had a 630 reservation for 3 Christmas eve. Arrived at 625 and we're told it would be a few minutes. 20 minutes later, still waiting. I notice that people arriving after us with reservations were being told 30 to 60 minute wait. I spoke with manager asking if it was going to be much longer. He then took us to our table at 710. Didn't see a server for 10 more minutes. Manager came and took our drink order. Finally got our drinks at 745. Finally got a server but she was so busy she pretty much ignored us. When my lobster arrived they forgot the drawn butter. Waited 5-10 more minutes and butter arrived to cold lobster. The smoked old fashioned, a specialty drink, was awful. It had obviously been sitting at the bar a long time as the large ice cube had pretty much melted. They at least comped our appetizer. He was so attentive without being "too much," and our orders came out quickly. First time there, and I felt like I may have made a mistake ordering chicken and not seafood, but Lily's Chicken was absolutely delicious. Perfectly charred nland topped with spinach, goat cheese, artichokes, and basil cream sauce. It just worked. With two sides, it made a generous meal. This was our first time there, and I would go back just for the cole slaw. Seriously. It had sesame and maybe ginger in it. So good. For dessert my husband had the molten carrot cake, and I just needed a little something sweet so I had a white chocolate cranberry cookie which came out warm like it was fresh baked. I'm not a fan of Visiting a restaurant that has regular sides and premium sides because when restaurants do this, the premium sides are always what people probably want. The salad, believe it or not was also a $2 upgrade. That being said, I upgraded 1 side and didn't order a second side because I Do not want broccoli or coleslaw with a ribeye. Plus, considering the sides are four dollars extra I wasn't going to upgrade two of them. I settled for 1 side. The waiter came to my table twice. The initial time and then to bring me water. He mentioned he would bring out the bread after my appetizer. I thought that was weird because the bread is usually what you get first, but whatever. Appetizer - For a limited time they had a shrimp caprice dip. Since it was for a limited time I thought I would try it. And it came with fresh warm bread. The shrimp caprice was very cheesy and tasty. It also had some mildly roasted cherry tomato's and pesto. Dinner - Ordered the 18 ounce bone in ribeye. Cooked medium well with The side of applewood bacon mac & cheese. I feel like The steak could've came out with some kind of garnishment, It was not visually appealing. I ordered my steak med well, it came out well done. I was told they could take it back but I'm not one to send food back to the kitchen. It's all good, I would rather have it well done than really red inside. Although the steak was tender and moist I'm sad to say it wasn't flavorful...at all. I feel like they didn't even put salt on it much less any seasoning. I added some A1 sauce and some salt and it was better. It's just if I spend a decent amount of money on a steak I shouldn't have to worry about it being flavorful nor should I have to add any type of condiments. Hickory smoked macaroni and cheese - It's ok. The portion is plenty they were not really stingy with the bacon which I like. The question is is it worth the four dollar upgrade, the answer is no.
