We are on vacation in Williamsburg, VA. We have our family and my daughter's family with us, so we wanted a restaurant that was good and family friendly. We found the Bonefish Grill and it was excellent. The food was truly excellent and the service was superb. The kids enjoyed some chicken fingers and pasta, while the adults enjoyed fresh fish, steaks and pork. Everything was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was great, the waitress was excellent and we left very satisfied. We were not rushed at all. If you are in Williamsburg this is a restaurant you need to try. I've been to Bonefish Grill in Williamsburg twice for family/friend dinners after graduation and a senior recital. It's served its purpose well -- moderately priced seafood with decent service and very accommodating for large parties (10+). I've enjoyed the salmon with goat cheese and basil (a unique combination I'd never seen before but really liked) and the grilled tilapia. The Bang Bang and Coconut shrimp have been popular appetizers, and I know there are a few salads on the menu for vegetarians. I'm a fan of the sides as well, since the vegetables are always cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes are delicious. Overall, a nice place to go for a family dinner, semispecial occasion, or a date night. read more

First I have to say, $5 bang bang shrimp on Wednesday's is a great deal. It's very tasty shrimp basically over a salad. But, it's not my favorite thing there. I think their ahi tuna steak is absolutely amazing. It is black sesame seed crusted and comes with jasmine rice. It's one of those meals that when I am finished I just wish there was more. I have always had good, courteous, and fast service when visiting this restaurant. I have never had an impolite waiter or server. The atmosphere is great. I do think it's worth noting that I am a Williamsburg resident so I usually go 'off season', because tourist season can really crowd up great places like this! read more

Was not a great night for the 4 of us. The food was ok but the portions of Ahi tuna and Chilean Sea Bass were very small. The Caesar salad was tired and wilted. My son did not finish his tuna and texted me later it may have been spoiled as he got chills and diarrhea at night. The service was very slow. Even though we were finished and ready to order dessert our server Matt bussed the empty tables around us first. The restaurant was almost empty so it was doubtful these tables would be seated again. My wife and I try to get to Bonefish Grill whenever we are in Williamsburg. Last night we arrived there at 7:05 for a 7:15 reservation. We were seated immediately. It was all down hill from there. After waiting 30 minutes with no sign of a server, not even a glass of water, we left for greener pastures. I can understand service delays when they are very busy but this was not the case. Bonefish does seafood really well. I've never had a bad meal at a Bonefish anywhere. They even have pretty good broiled crabcakes. Start off your dinner with their warm rustic loaf of bread which is served with a pesto and olive oil and you order the Bang Bang Shrimp for an appetizer. My 6 year old says "It's awesome!". You've always got several choices from their fresh catch menu and you can have it prepared one of several ways over their wood fired grill. Their sides- especially those braised chickpeas- are excellent and service is usually on point, too. read more

Took the wife here on Saturday for a decent meal and was surprised by an additional 20.08 charge to my account. My dinner was only 70.00 or so and they felt the need to charge me additional 20.00. This evening's meal was a disappointment. We had a coupon for a free entree. The food has gotten inconsistent and the service was extremely slow. We were seated at 6:20 and immediately ordered a Band Bang Shrimp appetizer...after waiting 42 minutes it finally arrived. Ten minutes later we received our entrees...two salmon, one ahí tuna, a pork chop and some coconut shrimp. We experienced the following issues: 1. The salmon in lemon butter was bland 2. The potatoes au gratin were dry and also tasteless. 3. The roasted garlic on the pork had not been peeled and some cloves were under cooked. 4. The spinach was under seasoned...limp and slimy. 5. The shrimp were much smaller than usual. 6. The kitchen manager came and took the garlic back to show the chef and comped the the pork chop. As this was a birthday celebration, we decided to order a molten lava cake to go. After 15 minutes our server returned with the dessert in a bag only to give us the bad news that because we ordered a dessert the coupon for the free entree was not valid. We had to choose between a $22 entree or a $9 dessert...give me a break. She apologized for the slow service and the coupon issue. Shame on the manager for sending the server to give us this news and for taking the cheap route. We were fairly regular customers but have noticed that this Bonefish is slipping in food and service quality. Tonight the service was terrible and management was absolutely helpless to make an impact. The appetizers were fine, within a minute of delivering our salads, the dinners arrived. To get a salad it took over 15 - 20 minutes; so, the dinners were ready to be served regardless. Was less than impressed by the manager's comments to rectify the situation. Hope when the summer temp help departs, the experience will get better. They simply can't handle the flow of patrons when it is moderately busy. The experience was so bad, we waited over 20 minutes for a dessert; and, simply departed without getting it. What a waist of time and money. read more

Had lunch here today with 11 friends. We had a 12:00 reservation made a month ago and also confirmed yesterday. When we arrived, our table wasn't ready. I have travelled all over this country and many places around the world, and have never had a dining experience as bad as the one we had in the Williamsburg Bonefish Grill last night. Our waiter, Alex, was slow, we waited much too long for our water and drinks. After he took our orders, we waited much too long for our meals, I received mine and ten minutes later my date received hers, then five minutes after that our two friends received theirs and their food was cold so it went back. By the time their food came my date and I were finished. Alex never bothered to take any dirty dishes away and when we finally got the checks, he had screwed them up. I was charged twice for my meal, my dates meal, twice for her one drink and also charged for one of our friends drinks. I was able to flag down one of the waitresses, Angela, bless her heart, and she tried her best to help but it was too late to salvage what should have been a pleasant evening. We will never go back there, but if you must, ask for Angela and do not let them stick you with Alex. read more

Seated immediately on a Sunday evening, waitress was attentive & chatty, she suggested the bang bang shrimp which was fresh & crispy, fried perfection with a side of dipping sauce that's not really spicy although it says it is. The drinks (lemon drop martini in a sugar rimmed glass is tart & tasty) came out as we waited for our dinner selections (grilled tilapia, lobster grilled cheese, fresh greens, lobster bisque, white truffle mac & cheese) all very good although I was a bit underwhelmed with the mac & cheese, aside from that, I'd love to dine here again and try out more of the fresh seafood selections. Dreadful service and food quality tonight -- party of 4, 4th entry arrived 8 minutes after first 3 entry. 4th was cold and under cooked. Had to repeatedly ask for our drink orders. Requested a manager, took 10 minutes for one to respond. Bridgette, acknowledged their short/ comings, compted our food and dessert. We really wanted to like this place so we went twice. Service is slow with no chance to order a second drink. There is no timing to stage the appetizers versus entrees. We were asked to put in the appetizer order when we ordered drinks, but we're not ready. So we ordered appetizer with the meal. They arrived at the same time. Food has its ups and downs. Bang bang shrimp appetizer is very good but oysters came cold. Shrimp tacos, Pad Thai and Tuna bowl all good. But saucy shrimp appetizer looked messy and wet, with no way to scoop up the sauce. We have been to Bonefish many times in Centreville, VA, and it has been a flawless experience, making it one of our favorites for reasonably priced seafood. Last night was memorable for all the wrong reasons in Williamsburg... My ginger beer in my Moscow Mule was a bit flat, but tolerable and that was the least of my worries. The temp inside the restaurant was tropical, above 75 F for sure, so I had to shed everything but my t-shirt to be comfortable. The main course was running late so the manager came by and apologized, acknowledging that the meal was late. Then the Sea Bass was under cooked which I absentmindedly did not notice til it was in my mouth. There was no question and the manager came over to apologize, said I was kind for how I handled it with the wait staff. They promptly replaced my dinner with Fish Tacos and did not chrage me for my dinner. The funny part was the end when the waiter asked if my wife and I wanted separate checks... we have been married for almost 20 years. read more

Strike 1: Showed up, got seated, at leadt 5 or 6 empty tables, waited 10+ minute for a waiter to come by and give us menus and ask about water or drinks. Strike 2: Waiters bus all the tables and take order and do drinks and deliver food to table, it means you are lucky to see "your" waiter every 15 minutes. Poor management model. Our waiter was stuck at bar getting drinks or clearing tables, not taking care of customers. Strike 3: Worst filet mignon I have had in a restaurant. Just a low quality, super cheap cut of what should be excellent steak. Not the chef, the low quality of the ingredients. You're out: I had a "buy one get one free" meal coupon. They told me they would "take care of" the meal because the steak was so poor. I asked "If I already have buy one get one free how does that help?" Horrible customer service. Our waiter didn't come back to check on us, glasses were empty for 20 minutes. The manager wasn't any better. Didn't even seem to care, she seemed too busy having a conversation with some guy. I wouldn't recommend this pace to anyone. I picked up a lobster roll special lunch today. It contained two sliders, a salad, some additional bread and a cookie. After having eaten lobster rolls in Maine, I was extremely disappointed. This was more like spicy lobster salad on stale slider buns. I hate to be negative, but I don't enjoy paying for food that isn't up to expectations. We visited Bonefish Grill last night and I still have the delicious taste on my tongue. I ordered the Jumbo Sea Scallops and Shrimp with the Warm Mango Sauce. The scallops were baked to perfection and the shrimp was to die for. And to top it off, the mango salsa?! Needless to say, everyone at my table tried some of my entree and loved it as much as me. Then for dessert I had the chocolate tiramisu. Wow. Heaven in a small dish. I wish that Bonefish Grill would open a restaurant in Vegas so I can go everyday. read more

Yikes. This restaurant has been my in-laws go to for years and it has fallen off dramatically. We waited 25 minutes past our reservation time, with a pretty cranky octogenarian, and ended up taking a table at the bar. The food was mediocre (except for the dumplings which everyone liked). My tuna was an unappetizing grey color - and this wasn't overlooked, I'd asked for it lightly seared. Our childs' meal was forgotten and came out 10 min after the rest of the group's. Our waitress was pleasant but the hosts were disinterested. After waiting more than 20 min they said they had no control over tables, that a reservation was simply an indication they would "try" to have a table for us and they had no idea when we would be seated. We wouldn't recommend it - try Baker's Crust instead. read more

Had brunch there with a friend yesterday. We were there about 11:00 and the restaurant mostly empty. Our server arrived quickly, welcomed us and suggested very tempting bellinis. They were delicious...when we eventually got them! She forgot all about our order, brought us water and bread then we didn't see her again until she told us our omelets would be out in a minute. After reminding her of our drink order she said she forgot and went to get them. We should have stopped with the drinks! We had both ordered California omelets. Both were extremely thin(can you make an omelet with one egg?)dry, under cooked (cheese not close to melted) and only warm. Definitely had the feeling it had been sitting back there awhile. Who knows? Our advice: stick to what you do well. Lunch and dinner. Leave brunch to restaurants who can do them well. read more

Very disappointed- we really like Bonefish but the quality just isn't there anymore. Husband's salad drenched in dressing; kalamata olives were pulverized, watermelon martini had seeds and tasted like old watermelon. Ordered the scallops and shrimp skewers with broccoli and spinach. Shrimp and scallops were under cooked, broccoli cold and spinach bitter with nothing on it. The manager took it off our bill and was apologetic but somewhat offended I didn't want to "recooked" food back. Won't be back anytime soon. read more

Good seafood option that is reliable in its quality. I don't tend to eat at chain restaurants much, but I'm always pleased when I eat here.

THEY DO HAVE CALL AHEAD! If your eating an hour from when you call ahead you can reserve a seat. My husband called to reserve us a seat... he asked 'do you have call ahead seating' and they told him No. He asked if they were busy and they said not now but in 20 minutes they probably would be. So we rushed out the door and got there they asked us if we had 'reservations'. I was confused and said I thought you didn't have call ahead. The hostess said 'we don't but if you call us an hour ahead we will reserve you a seat'! We left! Word games are no fun. Walked right into Plaza Azteca to a friendly reception and seat. read more

We have been regulars at bonefish for years as this is one of my parents favorite restaurants. We have visited this establishment more than 20 times over the past five years. Last night, our most recent visit was also the most disappointing. The service was terrible last night. The restaurant was only half full. However our waiter could be barely bothered to stop by our table. When the food came it was stone cold. When I told our waiter he seemed to blow this off. The manager who is usually quite helpful did not even stop by our table even though he stopped at most of the tables around us. Because there are so many good restaurants in Williamsburg this will probably be our last visit, sadly. read more
