Discovering this speakeasy is half the fun, especially when you retrieve the weekly entry code from their website site or Instagram. Once inside, you're in for a treat with both the drinks and the atmosphere. Drinks: The drinks here are exceptional, with a strong static menu and an ever-changing seasonal selection that makes it hard to pick just one. There's also a plentiful mocktail menu, featuring impressive options that ensure everyone finds something to enjoy. I've never had a drink I didn't like here--each one is a masterpiece. Atmosphere: The decor strikes the perfect balance between witchy and welcoming, moody and classy. The ambiance is enhanced by friendly servers who make the experience even more enjoyable. Though the place is small and seating can be tight, it's absolutely worth stopping in for a well-crafted cocktail.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great atmosphere, great service, and great Tea.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is small but definitely makes an impression[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Onto the drinks and food which were so delicious and truly enjoyable. I got the Beachy Bee Iced Latte special, which is a honey vanilla latte with a coconut cold foam and toasted coconut on top (simply divine)! My fiancé got the cappuccino which was made just to his liking, and he's a coffee connoisseur. For food, I had the Bumble, which I highly recommend, with scrambled eggs, subbed with the gluten free sourdough bread (+$2 up-charge) and cheddar instead of American cheese. It's served all day and had so much flavor with that garlic butter, and the seasoned steak. Yum! If you are gluten free like me, you will appreciate that they have the gluten free sourdough bread or a gluten free wrap to substitute with. My partner had the Basic Bee with bacon and thought it was flavorful with light and fluffy scrambled eggs that complimented the bacon well. Overall, I would really recommend this place if you're looking for a breakfast or lunch in Wallingford!

I normally try to give places the benefit of the doubt, but our experience at The Bees Knees Bistro…read morein Wallingford was honestly very disappointing and upsetting. My family and I arrived while it was raining outside with our young daughters in strollers, expecting to sit down for a meal and get out of the weather. Instead, we were told we could not come in with the strollers and essentially felt unwelcome the moment we walked through the door. As parents of babies who are still too young to sit safely in high chairs on their own, the strollers are not optional for us , they are necessary. We were not being disruptive, rude, or inconsiderate. We were simply trying to have a meal as a family. Rather than attempting to accommodate us or show any understanding, we were left feeling like having children made us an inconvenience. What made the situation even worse was the fact that it was pouring outside. Any level of kindness or flexibility would have gone a long way. Instead, we felt embarrassed, frustrated, and honestly shocked by the lack of compassion and customer service. Families with young children already face enough challenges going out in public, and experiences like this make it even harder. We ended up leaving and taking our business somewhere else that was far more welcoming and understanding toward families. It is disappointing because we were genuinely looking forward to trying this restaurant, but first impressions matter. A restaurant does not need to be "kid-centered" to still treat parents and babies with basic respect and decency. I completely understand that restaurants may have space limitations or policies, but there is a respectful and compassionate way to handle situations like this. Instead, the experience came across as cold and dismissive. There are many restaurants in the area that are happy to accommodate families, and moving forward those are the businesses I will continue to support. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning and would not recommend this restaurant to families with infants or children who still require strollers or extra accommodations. I wont be going back and giving them .you business, nor will I be recommending this place to anyone. Totally rude and discrimination towards those with babies. I did not feel cherished like their website says every guest is. Its sad because this will and im sure does effect their business. I will never give them my business after yesterday. No attempts at accommodating us or evening offering to let us sit outside, lazy staff, but yet there were 3 teenage girls taking names for the wait list. What a joke.

After reading all of the reviews about the corned beef hash, I have to say I was totally disappointed. There is no way that this is house made. I love corned beef hash, and I make it frequently. Let me tell you, every time I passed this place, I was missing out. This breakfast spot brings me back to the good ole days when my grandparents and I would get breakfast together - this place is comforting and is the perfect disconnect from this crazy world. They have some of the most delicious pancakes I've ever had, especially the Cinnamon Swirl, they are a must try! Amazing loaded home fries and omelettes, all at a great price. I ordered the 2x2x2 Meal, I chose Over Medium Eggs with Pork Bacon, delicious. I ended up upgrading from French Toast to Texas-Style French Toast. I 'd recommend to stick with their OG style French Toast. Considering the bread I upgraded to being a thicker style, it seems like they did not dip the bread long enough in the mix since the middle was very dry. It felt welcoming and overall I enjoyed my experience!

Our server was knowledgeable of gluten free options on the menu, which was great. They start every table with potato chips and a yummy aioli, truly addicting! It was a little loud for nothing being completely full but it wasn't distracting or uncomfortable. Affogato was incredible, Brussels 619 was good a bit dry and maybe missing a hint of something. The mussels had a dominating flavor of cumin and the meatballs were in a creamy reddish Marsala tasting sauce . The meatballs fell apart, and were unstab-able with my fork. My go to breakfast when I go to any new place (to me) is to always try the eggs Benedict. Their Scotties Benny had an interesting spin on the original. It had some cheese in it which I was happy to try. It also came with home fries, which were delicious. I have had better eggs Benedict then this, I don't think it needed the cheese, and the sauce on it was not very fresh. My friend got a muffin and an egg sandwich, where there was more roll than egg. Also the butter he was offered to put on the muffin, was something other than butter. One of the more interesting things about Scotty's, was we were served our breakfast on paper plates, we had plastic utensils, and that was a huge turn off for me. Our waitress was excellent, so no beef there. I guess my last gripe would be that when we checked in to Scotty's a 10% off coupon popped up, which happens occasionally being a Yelp elite. The waitress assured us that the manager would help us with the 10% off so when the time came we showed her the coupon. The manager questioned us saying it must be for another restaurant, there is a Scotty's in Branford she said. And then when we prove to her that we were at the right Scotty's, it seemed as though we were truly inconveniencing her. Needless to say, I will not recommend Scotty's to anyone, nor will I return.

A few of my foodie friends put me on game regarding this place that's about a 25-minute drive for me, but always so worth it. Here's why I love it so much! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set in the center of Wallingford a little off of the main drag of Center Street is this humble gem. You can park on the street for free if there's space or in the plaza parking lot right up the block from them. Once in the door you're welcomed by several smiling faces and that makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE! This place is predominately made for takeout. There are no physical tables, but you certainly can pop a squat on the benches near the back of the restaurant if you'd like. Service: There isn't necessarily table service since all you do is order at the counter and wait until your name is called, but the people there are so sweet, soft and will just make your day! They're also full of personality and their social media posts are super funny. Lol. Food: I've had several things from their menu here including the Backyard BBQ Sandwich, Savannah Wrap, Vegan BBQ Mac & Jack Bowl, The Hungry Slope, BCB, Roast Beef and more! These are some of the highest quality, made-with-love sandwiches, tastiest, creative sandwiches around! I just love how every several months they change the menu up introducing new flavors for the season so you never know what you're gonna get! Of course the favorites stay on the menu! Value: These sandwiches aren't cheap, but you have to pay for quality. Expect to spend between $11.00 and $15.00 here for a good meal. Then add on whatever else for drinks or sides, but it's worth it. In conclusion, I love this place, I just wish they were closer AND that they were opened on weekends, but they keep the hours tight to allow their employees to have lives. I give them even more respect for that! Check this place out soon!
