We came and sat on the patio for 2 hours just playing games with our kids and relaxing on a Saturday afternoon. They were very accommodating and friendly. We were able to bring our dog on the patio and they brought out fresh water and a bowl of unseasoned chicken for her free of charge. Mitchell was our waiter and was great. We will forever call him the chicken man for his great doggy hospitality. He was attentive without being intrusive friendly, and knowledgeable. Being from Louisiana, we were curious about this restaurant. One word: Filé One in our party ordered gumbo & asked for filé. The server asked what that was. The entire table started laughing. IYKYK Every restaurant in Louisiana has filé on the table along with salt, pepper, and hot sauce. Two in our group had fried fish. They said it was okay, the coating was cornmeal (which is proper,) but neither would recommend it. I had the Cajun pasta with grilled shrimp. It was nicely seasoned, not sure how "grilled" the shrimp were. I think they were just pan heated. We had an appetizer of crawfish "queso" It wasn't bad. The best thing was the Mardi Gras Sangria, it was fabulous. Very disappointed that the dessert menu did NOT include bread pudding. I mean, seriously, a Louisiana style restaurant and no bread pudding? All in all, give it a shot, everyone likes something different & ours was just 3 dishes from the menu. Don't let the name fool you, this place is nothing more than a bad Cajun themed Applebees with a lot of string lights for "atmosphere". Came her on Saturday night. The staff was friendly and worked very hard. They were unfortunately understaffed. Our overworked waitress kept forgetting things like plates for the apps, silverware sets, cocktail orders and water cups/refills. 45 minutes for the food to arrive once we tracked down the waitress to order the main dishes. Food was not the warmest. Pretty standard stuff, Tasted like everything came from a can in my etouffee. Food was not good when we were there, terrible service and the flies almost carried us away.

This was definitely a Yelp find - I would never have know that this place existed if not for a Yelp search. We made the trip here from our suburban McKinney home, and are so glad we did! Due to the pandemic and our level of risk tolerance, outdoor seating is a must, and Bongo Beaux's has you covered (so to speak), with sturdy picnic tables in a completely outdoor setting with geometrics tarps for shading, or a "hybrid" outdoor that still provides some A/C. We chose the former. Despite it being late in the evening when we arrived, the promise of a house made bloody mary was too much to pass up, and it was fantastic. Great horseradish flavor and a prominent spice made this an awesome refresher. My girlfriend's Cajun Lemonade was equally refreshing, and with a tiny taste of the warmth. After perusing the food menu, we settled on an appetizer and a main dish to share. For the former, we selected the "Breaux Bread", featuring a French loaf stuffed with crab, crawfish, and cheese, topped with their "Crackfire sauce", all nicely baked and served sliced. It was a very tasty treat, and is definitely enough to share. For the main course, we opted for the "Drowning Catfish", which is a bit of a "kitchen sink" dish, featuring blackened catfish over a bed of jambalaya, covered with crawfish etouffee. This was a superb platter, all seasoned perfectly, with tender rice, moist catfish with a great blackened exterior, and meaty and spicy etoffee and jambalaya. This was truly a delicious meal, and we'll be back for more. The menu isn't huge, but I'll take a limited menu done well over a huge menu in mediocrity, any day of the week. Would never advise anyone to eat here. Service was terrible, waiter completely forgot to come back and take our order. They all apologized but offered nothing for the trouble. I paid with credit card and tipped 15% because of bad service. They later changed the tip to 48%. Lucky my credit card company noticed. Born outside New Orleans I was raised with a Cajun dad that spoke Cajun French fluently. This place is awesome! Went yesterday with girlfriends and today I took my family. Love the batter on the fried shrimp & the fish! The two kinds of fries are awesome. Poboy was good but a ton of bread. Sauce is amazing The hush puppies are the BEST IVE EVER HAD!!!!
