We had the fish chop, muglai, paratha, goat rezala, bitter gourd and potato, paratha, pilau, spicy yogurt drink, and mishti doi. Our favorite dishes were the goat, fish chop, and muglai paratha. The goat was incredibly tender and tasty. I don't normally like goat because it can be gamey but this was amazing in taste and not too oily. The fish chop was particularly good with the tamarind sauce and again, not too oily. The muglai paratha was crispy and delicious. The rice portion was very large but the pilau wasn't our favorite... a little dry and salty without as much flavor as I expected given the spices involved. The service was fast. We enjoyed helping ourselves to tea and cucumbers and veggies. We appreciated that the tea was unsweetened. Although not upscale, the ambiance was fun and everything was clean. I went with a group of friends who I've traveled with to Bangladesh including a Bengali friend. We all really enjoyed the good Bengali and Bollywood tunes playing, not to mention the good. The spicy yogurt drink (I forget the name), was great and had a good kick. It was a little different than how it is prepared in Bangladesh (even better tasting at Bongo's in my opinion). This is the 2nd time we got disappointed at Bongo's. This time I got Mughlai paratha. The taste was mostly flour and egg. It's like egg-paratha. We were expecting some chicken keema inside but there was no sign of it. I feel if we place to-go order late after 8pm, they generally out of few ingredients and they make it just with whatever they have. Last order was Chicken Biryani. It was their opening day. Again that day we reached there by 8:30. They didn't use basmati rice for Biryani also the taste was so blunt. Had visited it on a Sat, its a small place newly opened in Fremont. The food z okay here, Ordered Goat Razela which was good but was vry dry, no gravy to go with paratha. Mughlai paratha was not upto d mark, really not good. We ordered a plate of puchka-$7.99, it was horrible. Vry dry served with a meetha chutney. Biriyani looked yummy however its on a expensive side$14.99 for 1 plate. Overall, ok not so great, some items r good considering d prices. read more

I don't want to give Bango's any number... Because I think faithfulness is most important issue for any business. We went from Pleasant Hill to Fremont just to have pure Bengali Lunch and we were super excited about Bango's. Ordered Sorshe ilish (Mustard Hilsa), Pulao, Goat Meat, Fish Chop, Rasagolla. But after reaching back home when we opened our box instead of Pulao we saw they delivered us only biriyani rice (Amount is also not as same as they serve on table). They have three options in size of Hilsa with different price, we choose big size, costliest one at 15$ each, but size of Hilsha was pathetic & taste was just weird (before that we never tested sorshe Ilish with onion & garlic). read more

I was happy that finally we got a Bengali restaurant here. I am always a fan of deshi food. I wish them all the best! However I have few feedback for them: 1. food was not warm. Please warm it before serving. 2. rice quantity was not enough for one person. 3. Price was quite high. People expect to pay around $15/person for a meal but we paid about $25/person 4. service could be lot better. Please consider the fact that people go to deshi restaurant not for exclusive food rather they go there as they don't have time to cook sometimes. Finally, a restaurant that serves delicious authentic Bangladeshi food in the Bay Area! In addition to the usual suspects like Biryanis and curries, this joint serves some niche items like mughlai patatha, aloo'r chop etc. Then there is the dessert; sweets made just like back home. We had "porotha", which was hand made- it felt home. Also had fish chops and chana daal- both were awesome .. Definitely going back there again. Nothing feels like ordering in bangla. Only wish it was a little closer to my home.. May be they will open a branch. Today on Bengali New Years Day, with a high hope we went to this Restaurant and ordered their "Special Noboborsho Menu Thali " and Polao, Muri Ghonto, Fish Chop. I made a great mistake going there. First of all their Bengali Thali comes with 5 types of Bhorta and Ilish and when I opened the packet, it was like the quantity they serve was less than a table spoon of each type of Bhorta. Ilish fry size was small and not fresh and for all these Awesome Bengali Thali they charge 14.99$. Really very bad in taste. Then comes Muri Ghonto, I have never seen Muri Ghonto in such thin gravy and no salt at all. Only item good was Fish Chop. They charge much higher price compared to the amount/quantity for each item they server also taste is bad. Guys please take it seriously because in USA there is huge option and competition for restaurants available and if it goes on in such a way then very soon your seats will be empty. I had a very high hope on this New Years day but Bongos ruined it. Very Bad. I will never go again. read more

I was waiting for a long time to have an authentic Bengali restaurant in the bay area. At last this restaurant has fulfilled this wish. Today I had hilsha fish, the famous shorshe ilish (hilsha fish cooked in mustard). This is a real delicacy and they made it really well. One of the best shorshe ilish I had in a long time. I also had chicken roast, which was also great, but nothing can beat ilish. At the end the mishti doi (sweet yogurt) was delicious as well. Located in the heart of Fremont this restaurant has ample parking, plenty of seating- both inside and outside, and the restaurants ambience and decor echoes back to the Bangladesh's cultural heritage theme in the form of Bangla band music, photographs of Bangladesh, TV displaying Bangla channel and Bangla writings on the entrance. The food has big portions and some of the delicacies and signature items like mughlai parata, goat rezala, chicken biryani, doi will satiate anyone. So we ordered 1 Kacchi Biriyani -$14.99, 1 chicken roast-$7.99, 1 Polao $1.99+tax = $27.34 in total we received 2 BIG plates of rice and 2 small goat pieces and 1 leg with thigh. Well OK maybe it tastes damn good and price is worth it? WRONG my friend and I laughed really hard because the food was so bad, like 2 days old leftover food. When the hostess asked if we liked the food we said no and she said oh okay and left. Lmao um no sorry no resolution then we're thinking maybe the tea will be good well guess again another bad decision made by us. I have no idea why this place is rated high but I do know I want to open another restaurant right next to it because I can cook a lot better. The food here is good, but the service sucks. Also, the menus need to explain what the dishes are or what's in them, if they want to cater to anyone else besides South Asians. The portions are extremely small for the price. I have been to other South Asian (Indian, Pakistani, Nepali) restaurants where the portions even of one entree, were enough for two meals. We heard about this restaurant from our Indian Bengali friends who told us this is the only authentic Bengali restaurant in town. I have grown up with some Bengali friends whose food was awesome and so was excited to try this place out as a weekend treat. The food quality didn't disappoint us but the quantity and service did since we had driven 45 mins in the rain to get here. I understand they are fairly new in town but they definitely need to improve on these two aspects if they want repeat customers. We might give this place another shot only if we are in Fremont on business with expendable cash, but won't go out of our way to make the trip here; the portion sizes are just not worth it. read more

The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. We love the fish cutlet (served with yummy mustard sauce), muri ghonto, shahi paneer, fish do pyaza,peas kachuri and kosha mangsho. We keep visiting bongos twice a month. Been waiting for a Bangladeshi restaurant in the Bay my whole life to expose my friends and the community to the cuisine. Thoroughly disappointed. Food was decent but terribly priced considering what you're getting. I don't mind paying a lot for food, but a premium price usually entails quality and quantity or ambience and good service. This place had puny portions for exorbitant prices with no table service or premium ambience. I paid about ~$17 a person and did not get full. Specialty Bangladeshi fish being pricey is understandable, but one leg quarter for $8 or a tiny bit of Goat Rejala for $10 is outrageous. Again prices would've been fine if there was stellar service and ambience. I'm comparing this to the likes of other desi restaurants in which $17 gets you full and thoroughly content. read more
