This is such a convenient location. Even if you're not going to Poulsbo, it's just right off the highway, across from Walmart. I had the Tamarind Shrimp Skewer plate, which was actually in a bowl. It came with rice, beans, and a really refreshing slaw. It was so flavorful and good, and I really appreciated that it was a normal human portion. It's very convenient to not have to take leftovers, when you're nowhere near home. It was just right for lunch when you're moderately hungry. I asked about drinks, and was told that all of the drinks were in the refrigerator by the counter, but when I sat down, I saw that they have fountain drinks as well. The employee apologized for the confusion. She forgot to mention the fountain drinks. It worked out okay, because I got to try a kind of pop I'd never had before, but I actually had wanted a fountain drink. I took off a star more for the fact that the floor was really sticky, than for the drink confusion. You can book catering for groups, and they have side rooms to put you in.

Receipt of the food and it was so good and trainable. We shared the steak plate because it was a large portion!

We found this place by chance be when we went Poulsbo overnight for a comedy show at the Clearwater Sunday 5/31/2026. This place was so awesome, the service was great, the establishment was clean, bright and vibrant and the food amazing. I definitely would go back!

You can smell the amazing Caribbean herbs and spices as you drive up to the restaurant. You don't even have to roll your window down or get out of your car to know you want to eat at Bongos. Six of my friends joined me for lunch yesterday and everyone enjoyed their meal. Interestingly enough, we all had different plates, and everyone had good things to say about what they were eating. One had a vegetarian bowl. Another had the jerk chicken with the beans and rice. Another had the fried chicken with some other assortment of things. Another had the pineapple chicken with coleslaw. I had the spicy shrimp and they were spicy but very tasty. A couple of us don't eat carbohydrates. So I was able to put my spicy shrimp in a zero carb tortilla, that I brought with me, with the coleslaw, and it was a massive hit for my taste buds and dietary needs. The cashier was so amazing friendly and knowledgeable. She took her time with me to walk me through the menu to make sure that my particular dietary needs could be met. I came back today to get some takeout just for myself. I got the steak with chimichurri and some coleslaw. Super delicious! Tender juicy bites and the sauce was almost drinkable! The food is yummy. The customer service is exceptional. The place is huge and today it was a crowded parking lot and a lot of people eating lunch. It should do very well. I will definitely keep this in my rotation.Probably coming once a month or once every six weeks. They made a customer out in me.

Stopped for a meal and got the Havana steak. Lots of options and all of it sounded so good. Looks like they're making an outdoor patio so that will be amazing with the view and the summer weather coming up. Service was friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our food. Loved that it's in a to go container as I typically end up asking for one anyhow. Everything in my bowl was delicious. Glad I got some of the sauces to try and I loved both of them. So happy to have something different in town and can't wait to try more items!

First of all, the staff is so welcoming and friendly. We arrived at 5:00 on a Saturday night and there were about 20 people seated and eating. We went over to the bar areas and met Colin, who is the bartender. Loved to see that they carried local Poulsbo beers on tap and he kindly let me sample two as I was having a hard time make a decision. We sat down and our friends arrived. None of us were familiar with Caribbean food and were eager to try a variety of plates. Our order was placed (at the counter) and a pager was given. We enjoyed our beers and became aware of how many people were coming into the restaurant. Our pagers went off, we collected our food and got to work. The portions are generous and the flavors are out of this world-so many unique combinations and are all partnered so well. We all felt that the prices were very reasonable. Colin was kind enough to check in and see how we liked our choices. I am absolutely thrilled that Bongos has a home in Poulsbo as I know it will be so well received. Looking forward to our next time.

The cashier that took the order was so sweet & had the best energy. The restaurant is extremely spacious - plenty of room to dine in with a beautiful view of Mount Rainier. The food was delicious. The jerk chicken had a sweet spice to it. I ate the bucco chicken plate, it was so good. My daughter's favorite was the cilantro aioli sauce for all the food. They will have a Bongo Bar soon. They have beer on draft & canned. Clean, spacious, delicious. Definitely worth a try. We're coming back for sure.

Great atmosphere, lots of seating and a good menu. Order up front and enjoy the good music. I had the West Indies plate with a side of the yucca & cheese and will be coming back for more!

Walking in, the layout suggests they are also a party/mini-concert/event space. Service is casual; we were told to sit anywhere. I should have boogied my way to the table. We happily browsed through the menu looking at the many choices, some very unfamiliar. Everything looks so good, and prices are reasonable. We need to return and be more adventurous next time. Our server was helpful, guiding portion size and optional sides. The Food: Jerk Chicken plate, add steamed veggie, $20 + $2 - 5 Stars True to the jerk seasoning, theirs is spicy, as it should be. I find it annoying when jerk seasoning isn't spicy enough. The seasoning tastes even spicier when I drink water, and the heat spreads. So good! I was also happy they use boned chicken, which is more flavorful. I asked about veggies, that is $2 extra. Oxtails plate, add rice & peas, $24 + $1 - 5 Stars With beefy stock, these oxtail pieces are well-seasoned and paired well with root vegetables. A small salad and the rice & peas are a good match to the oxtail. I enjoy seeing oxtails used in different recipes. Jamaican patty, $5 - 5 Stars These beef meat pies are freshly baked and arrived at our table smoking hot. We were happy that we ordered two, so we wouldn't have to share. Haha. Very delicious. Plantains, $8 - 5 Stars From the appetizers portion of the menu, these are perfectly fried, caramelized, with minimal blackened carcinogens. This plate was a particularly good batch.

The Food: Blackened Salmon, $33 - 5 Stars Menu: Salmon, corn soubise, fried plantains, fried okra We both wanted this as our main dish, so this is a 2X. The salmon is perfectly seasoned and grilled. You can SEE the seasoning on the fish. So glad they included pieces of okra. The frying/searing gives it the perfect chew. I received a promo for $5 off so I tried to use it the previous time, but she didn't know how to apply it. Then another time when I order The Caribbean Plato with pulled roasted pork, when I got home, I discovered the wrong type of meat (grilled pork instead of pulled pork). For these reasons, I didn't go back for a long time. Today, I went again to get take out for my visitors. I called in the order so I didn't have to wait, but Gisela didn't understand my order and kept getting it wrong. I ordered 3 Caribbean Plato with pulled pork, and 1 Caribbean Plato with chicken thigh, but she kept repeating the wrong order back to me (2 pork, instead of 3, wrong type of meat, etc), so I tried it again and again, still no comprendo. I got frustrated and told her that I would just come in person to order. I was in a hurry, but I had no choice. When I got there, I ordered the same thing, but this time, I gestured the type of pork I wanted, using my hands to show pulled and tried to explain that I wanted the shredded kind, not the solid kind). Someone was with me so he heard my order in plain English. As I was waiting for my order, I decided to ask her once more just to be sure that it wasn't the grilled pork bc she made that mistake last time. Then she said my meat was grilling now. I was alarmed since they don't get the pulled pork from the grill. I told her that I wanted PULLED ROASTED PORK, not the solid grilled patty kind. She said something in Spanish to the guy who was putting my order together and he showed me a sample of the pulled pork so I said "YES" that's the one I want. She said they were already cooking the grilled pork. When I told her that she was giving me the wrong order, she said "it's too late". I was so upset so I said, "why is it so hard to understand my order?" Pulled pork is pulled pork, not grilled pork. I never even mentioned the word "grilled". A guy came out from the kitchen so I explained myself and he said what I want is the pulled roasted pork and I said, "that's what I ordered". She tried to explain something to him in Spanish, but he told her to just give me the pulled pork and I was on my way. She just ruined my day, and I could feel my blood pressure rising. I don't think I will ever return again. It's too hard to explain the right kind of meat to Gisela. Dining out and getting take out should be a pleasant experience, not a stressful one.
