Receipt of the food and it was so good and trainable. We shared the steak plate because it was a large portion!

We found this place by chance be when we went Poulsbo overnight for a comedy show at the Clearwater Sunday 5/31/2026. This place was so awesome, the service was great, the establishment was clean, bright and vibrant and the food amazing. I definitely would go back!

You can smell the amazing Caribbean herbs and spices as you drive up to the restaurant. You don't even have to roll your window down or get out of your car to know you want to eat at Bongos. Six of my friends joined me for lunch yesterday and everyone enjoyed their meal. Interestingly enough, we all had different plates, and everyone had good things to say about what they were eating. One had a vegetarian bowl. Another had the jerk chicken with the beans and rice. Another had the fried chicken with some other assortment of things. Another had the pineapple chicken with coleslaw. I had the spicy shrimp and they were spicy but very tasty. A couple of us don't eat carbohydrates. So I was able to put my spicy shrimp in a zero carb tortilla, that I brought with me, with the coleslaw, and it was a massive hit for my taste buds and dietary needs. The cashier was so amazing friendly and knowledgeable. She took her time with me to walk me through the menu to make sure that my particular dietary needs could be met. I came back today to get some takeout just for myself. I got the steak with chimichurri and some coleslaw. Super delicious! Tender juicy bites and the sauce was almost drinkable! The food is yummy. The customer service is exceptional. The place is huge and today it was a crowded parking lot and a lot of people eating lunch. It should do very well. I will definitely keep this in my rotation.Probably coming once a month or once every six weeks. They made a customer out in me.

Stopped for a meal and got the Havana steak. Lots of options and all of it sounded so good. Looks like they're making an outdoor patio so that will be amazing with the view and the summer weather coming up. Service was friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our food. Loved that it's in a to go container as I typically end up asking for one anyhow. Everything in my bowl was delicious. Glad I got some of the sauces to try and I loved both of them. So happy to have something different in town and can't wait to try more items!

First of all, the staff is so welcoming and friendly. We arrived at 5:00 on a Saturday night and there were about 20 people seated and eating. We went over to the bar areas and met Colin, who is the bartender. Loved to see that they carried local Poulsbo beers on tap and he kindly let me sample two as I was having a hard time make a decision. We sat down and our friends arrived. None of us were familiar with Caribbean food and were eager to try a variety of plates. Our order was placed (at the counter) and a pager was given. We enjoyed our beers and became aware of how many people were coming into the restaurant. Our pagers went off, we collected our food and got to work. The portions are generous and the flavors are out of this world-so many unique combinations and are all partnered so well. We all felt that the prices were very reasonable. Colin was kind enough to check in and see how we liked our choices. I am absolutely thrilled that Bongos has a home in Poulsbo as I know it will be so well received. Looking forward to our next time.

The cashier that took the order was so sweet & had the best energy. The restaurant is extremely spacious - plenty of room to dine in with a beautiful view of Mount Rainier. The food was delicious. The jerk chicken had a sweet spice to it. I ate the bucco chicken plate, it was so good. My daughter's favorite was the cilantro aioli sauce for all the food. They will have a Bongo Bar soon. They have beer on draft & canned. Clean, spacious, delicious. Definitely worth a try. We're coming back for sure.

Bucco chicken and mango habanero sauce

We got the Bucco chicken and the West Indies chicken. Foody's fantastic, the atmosphere is really nice. Definitely coming back with this place. And it's worth the money which is pretty much made over the road. Nice decor too. Get mango habanero sauce definitely has a kick to it. And very friendly people.

Yucca & Cheese

Great atmosphere, lots of seating and a good menu. Order up front and enjoy the good music. I had the West Indies plate with a side of the yucca & cheese and will be coming back for more!

Walking in, the layout suggests they are also a party/mini-concert/event space. Service is casual; we were told to sit anywhere. I should have boogied my way to the table. We happily browsed through the menu looking at the many choices, some very unfamiliar. Everything looks so good, and prices are reasonable. We need to return and be more adventurous next time. Our server was helpful, guiding portion size and optional sides. The Food: Jerk Chicken plate, add steamed veggie, $20 + $2 - 5 Stars True to the jerk seasoning, theirs is spicy, as it should be. I find it annoying when jerk seasoning isn't spicy enough. The seasoning tastes even spicier when I drink water, and the heat spreads. So good! I was also happy they use boned chicken, which is more flavorful. I asked about veggies, that is $2 extra. Oxtails plate, add rice & peas, $24 + $1 - 5 Stars With beefy stock, these oxtail pieces are well-seasoned and paired well with root vegetables. A small salad and the rice & peas are a good match to the oxtail. I enjoy seeing oxtails used in different recipes. Jamaican patty, $5 - 5 Stars These beef meat pies are freshly baked and arrived at our table smoking hot. We were happy that we ordered two, so we wouldn't have to share. Haha. Very delicious. Plantains, $8 - 5 Stars From the appetizers portion of the menu, these are perfectly fried, caramelized, with minimal blackened carcinogens. This plate was a particularly good batch.

Drinks / water, sauces and food is self serve. I tried the West Indies plate. Super juicy chicken thigh. Beans and rice were soft. The slaw was refreshing and cuts the heaviness of the meal (it has mangos!!). Add some of their spicy sauces if you want more flavor! It's spicy but not too bad. I'm really enjoying the covered deck on this hot summer day although my wife was missing the sand between her toes from the original floor. Today we had the 1 AM Sandwich, Gumbo, and Chicken Curry. This place would be great for date-night or get a drink or have a family meal. Our server was attentive and helpful, making a change for us last minute with a 'I gotcha ya' attitude - LOVE! Thank you! The food is so, so good! The Seattle area doesn't have enough 'soul', southern, creole, 'island' type of foods. This place fills the perfect niche. I have the urge to say 'hmmm, hmmm' dining here! Yum! Parking is free under the building, and nearby street parking tends to be available, too. The Food: Blackened Salmon, $33 - 5 Stars Menu: Salmon, corn soubise, fried plantains, fried okra We both wanted this as our main dish, so this is a 2X. The salmon is perfectly seasoned and grilled. You can SEE the seasoning on the fish. So glad they included pieces of okra. The frying/searing gives it the perfect chew. Fried Green Tomatoes, $15 - 5 Stars Menu: Green tomatoes, panko, egg, onion, Buddha's belly seasoning This dish is known as their must order. I have no clue what Buddha's belly seasoning is, but I can tell you it is tasty. Fried green tomatoes is a perfect southern dish (and I will always think about the movie). Wings, Jerk seasoning, $18 - 5 Stars Like many, we're suckers for wings. Even better if the seasoning is different. Jerk wings is rightfully popular, here. The sauce is generously applied, and every bit is delicious. The flavorful foods will have me returning for sure!

While it's a good sandwich, it felt a bit heavy; I really found myself looking for more acid to cut through the fat and grease. I'm glad I was sharing with Jenny because it's quite a lot for one person. I also noticed toward the end that the bread was burnt. Overall, it's a solid sandwich, but between the stomach issues and the char, I'm not sure I'd go back.

Everything arrived at once rather than in courses, but it didn't take away from the experience. Every dish was packed with flavor. The aloo pies had a taste reminiscent of samosas :: crispy on the outside with a warmly spiced filling :: and were served with a tangy chutney that complemented them perfectly. The jerk chicken was the standout. Tender, juicy, and beautifully seasoned with warm, balanced spices :: it was easily the highlight of the meal. It came with rice and peas (beans), which were some of the best we've had, along with a simple green salad that surprised us with its freshness and bright citrus vinaigrette.
