Ordereld delivery - buger, onion rings and coleslaw. Coleslaw was fine, burger was tough and very dry. Onion rings were almost black they were so over cooked. Seems like they couldn't care less since this was a delivery and we aren't in the restaurant to complain, although we've lived in Neptune Beach for over 30 years and ordered from this location many time, I won't order from there again. If you're of a mind to have Bono's I'd avoid this location. The one at Beach and San Pablo is better by far, IMHO. read more

Entering Bono's, it took a minute to be seated, but we have a few drinks and the Yum is a bar western saloon type thing we had back ribs and pulled pork platters. I go to Bono's about once a month. It is close to home and afternoon Drafts are $2.00. Honestly I had been a bit disgruntled by the staff in my past few month visits. However this visit brought back exactly what I had been missing. They all were having fun showed their personalities and worked like a well oiled machine. A sigh of relief! I kept seeing Bono's all over the place when I was in Jacksonville Beach. I love BBQ, but I rarely eat it. I decided that I had to try it before I returned home to Tampa. I came in towards the middle of the day around 2pm. There were quite a few people there, but they were not super busy. My waitress was amazing! She answered all of my questions. She made a few recommendations. I ended up ordering the special which I knew would be enough for two meals. It definitely was... I probably could have made it into three. The pulled pork was amazing. It was tender and I could taste the smoke. I did not have any issues with gristle or large chunks. It was perfectly shredded. To be honest, I liked all of the BBQ sauces too. I ended up using some of each. They are bound to have a sauce that everyone will like. My sides were tasty and I was happy with my selections. I had remarked to my waitress that Bono's seemed a little like Willie Jewell's ...but better. She did not know what that was. I found out when I received my sides that they are owned by the same people. Bono's is a step up though. I think the in house smoking and specials make it better. I also liked the sides better. Over the past 60 years I've eaten a lot of barbecue. Mostly in Texas, Alabama, and North Carolina. Mostly great barbecue. NOT HERE! Apparently they don't know about pulled yet! They served me some kind of greasy meat in big chunks that I suppose could have been pork but I'm not sure. I ordered at the drive through about an hour ago at this location. While the staff at the window was wonderful, I cannot say the same for the food. I ordered the three meat platter, as I usually do when I go to a Bono's location, and it was certainly not worth it for the cost. The pulled pork was hard and leathery like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours, the chicken was extremely dry, and I got four pieces of brisket that were roughly the size of a silver dollar. Of the three sides that I ordered, I only received two (yes, I paid for the third and it's shown on the receipt). Frankly, the sides and toast were the best part of everything that I ordered. We ordered the 3 meat dinner. Everything was delicious. The meat (chicken, ribs and brisket) was juicy and delicious. We had grilled corn on the cob and collard greens. They also were well seasoned and delicious. However the text toast was the only item that seemed to be less than perfect (??not sure how you can mess up toast). The past couple of days, I've been craving collard greens. Today, I visited Bono's for the first time ever. Let's just say I'm not in a rush to go back, even less of a rush than it was to receive my order. All I (pre-ordered online) was a pint of collard greens; not a meal, just the side of greens. I arrived at the drive-thru with one car ahead of me. I waited at the speaker for about five minutes before my online order was confirmed. When I got to the window, I waited another FIFTEEN minutes before paying and receiving my food. The server apologized for the wait, which okay, I appreciate it. But fifteen minutes for a side, not a meal, that was pre-ordered online? Plus, no other cars ever pulled up behind me the whole time. Halfway through waiting, I asked myself out loud, "Damn, are they picking the collards fresh and cooking them right this minute?" I finally got home and tried them. They were too spicy, sweet, AND vinegary for my taste. All three flavors overpowered the greens, like the cook was heavy-handed and was left with three strongly competing flavors. This was a miss for me. I'll try Bono's again but will get a meal and different sides. read more

Ordered two, 2 meat combos and was super disappointed with the portion sizes for the price paid. One meal the Sausage is about a quarter of a sausage and pulled pork portion is so small. Meal two was a tad bit better- got bbq chicken and 3 St. Louis rips. Sides are super small, but were average- baked beans, greens and Mac and cheese. Visited Bono's BBQ at 1275 Atlantic Blvd today. Initial arrival outside in the parking lot had the delicious smell of smoked meats in the air. We were greeted before we reached the door and the restaurant owner held the door open for us as we entered. The staff were all wearing masks and the restaurant was set up with distanced seating. We were seated promptly and immediately helped with our initial drink order along with being handed clean menus. As first-time visitors, we appreciated our servers excellent recommendations from the menu by pointing out the top items and even suggesting alternatives to items based on her knowledge of the ingredients within the menu items. We ordered a fried squash appetizer, a 3 meat plate of brisket, turkey,  pork, and a BBQ salad. I had the coleslaw and hash brown casserole for sides. The food arrived quickly to the table and tasted great! The turkey was our favorite of the items and mixing the sauces together added a lot of great flavors to the smokey meats. Not only is this my favorite Bono's location, this is one of my favorite BBQ places period. Every time I dine in I'm greeted by friendly, smiling faces. The service is great and the food is amazing. Bono's is a bit on the high commercial end for BBQ. The food is good, but nothing to write home about. The prices are okay, but I don't know if that's enough to make up for the lackluster BBQ that's being served up here. Don't get me wrong, it's fine for BBQ, just nothing that really stands out to me. I had the brisket sandwich with fries. I ordered the Mac and Cheese, but they were out. My biggest pet peave is when a BBQ place does not have a fairly common item, usually served with BBQ. The fries were terrible and nothing I'd ever order from here again. Overall, I'd come back. I just don't know how soon. The servers were great and the atmosphere was pleasant. The music played over the sound system is classic rock that I can tolerate. Bono's is a great spot. I just don't think it's the number one spot in Jacksonville. read more

I love Bono's. The food is always hot and fresh, the staff is generally very friendly. It's our go-to for take out BBQ. Our favorites include the smoked turkey, baked beans, pulled pork, sausage links, fried squash and corn nuggets. I'm also mildly obsessed with their garlic toast! Always a rip off, they def take more than they give, a bad way to run a business. I'm not one to leave a review but during these tough times it's just not right to rip people off even more .... I got the bbq ribs, charged me $20 for literally 3!!! I can't believe it, the other time I payed $30 and asked for sliced brisket, and I got some chewed up looking pile that was mostly fat. Came to get check out. It was 10.69, asked the check out girl if she would take .66 cents. She said yes so handed her 20.66 and she hands me back 9.97. When I said I thought u were going to take the 66 cents she rudely and smugly said 'i just did.' Either get some people who can figure out 3 cents isn't worth losing a customer over or those smart enough to know what a customer means.
