Went to see a movie in the mall across the street and my wife and I were very hungry after. The guard inside told us to check out Booeymonger and said they make a real good sandwich. Well Mr. Security Guard, they make a real good sandwich indeed. My wife got a roast beef and turkey sandwich with provolone on a Kaiser roll and man, that was delicious. I ordered the Italian with banana peppers and spinach (banana peppers and spinach were about $1.15 extra) and it was so delicious. The sandwiches are generously priced for the size and quality. They offer a nice selection of sandwiches with the option to build your own. The build your own option should satisfy anyone considering the selection of breads, meats, cheese, and toppings. They will even do vegetarian. Sweets is also another offering. They had mini lemon-poppy seed & blueberry pound cakes, lemon bars, rice pudding, and several other sweet treats. Do you like soup with your sandwich? They have soups too but I didn't try them. My only complaint was that the girl taking our order was very unsure about a few things we asked about. Her redeeming quality is that she was super nice and had no problems going and asking someone. I guess it didn't hurt that she was absolutely adorable either! I've been here four times for lunch and twice for breakfast. Lunch sandwiches are great, although the method of getting you your correct sandwich is not exactly organized or accurate. I saw a couple of mixed up orders during my long and hungry waits. During lunch time, the wait time can be ten or fifteen minutes. I've had The Patty Hearst, The Georgetowner, and another off-the-menu sandwich concoction - all of which were yums. And I custom-made a wrap with brie and roast beef. REALLY GOOD. Plus, the place offers Nantucket Nectars. I can't get enough of that juice. But boo for being unnecessarily expensive. My breakfast experiences on the other hand, were not great. I had a bagel sandwich with cheese, bacon, and egg. The bacon was way over-cooked (it was like a cracker). The egg was over-cooked. The bagel was mushy and un-toasted. And the coffee was crap. I actually tried all of the coffees (even the flavored) and they were all crap. Like brown water. I read the description of one of the coffees and it actually advertised that it was made from Robusta beans. Robusta beans are low quality (as opposed to Arabica beans) and mostly used to make instant coffees. Gross. I couldn't put it down... and especially after that cracker-jack bacon, I seriously needed a drink. A note about the atmosphere: Muted TVs with sub-titled CNN. LOVE IT. read more

Booeymongers is my guilty pleasure between classes. It has a lot of quirky sandwiches. I get the veggie delight. It's a great warm sandwich with mushrooms, spinach, tomato, salad veggies, alfalfa sprouts, onions and melted provolone cheese and mayonnaise. Is your mouth watering? In my book (menu?) a good vegetarian sandwich is just loaded with veggies. The potato wedges are decent, though nothing mind blowing. My advice is just to get the sandwich and a drink. It's a pretty filling sandwich alone. Also the prices are pretty good and the servers are nice, too. In the future, I will try the Pita Pan and review it here too. Booeymonger is a staple to NW DC. There is nothing better than their corned beef on rye and a Dr. Brown's Cream Soda. It use to be the best, that's changing, so for those that don't have the added nostalgia, it's just a deli. I don't want to give you even one star for this restaurant. First, the dining hall was very dirty. Tables and chairs were so dirty. Of course, ground, too. Second, I ordered a coffee and when I tried to pour from the coffee dispenser they didn't have even one drop left so I had to ask for it and wait for 10 mins. Third, I ordered ahi tuna salad. Tuna was very fishy and all the vegetable cutting was messy and too chunky. Fourth, restrooms were filthy. I used the restroom and I already lost appetite. Considering the value I have, foods were way too expensive. This was a horrible experience and I urge people not to come to this restaurant. read more

Fro-Yo Bar + Made to Order Sandwiches = Baller Try out every flavor of frozen yogurt (pay by the ounce) and order the potato wedges on the side. The service is quick and although it is often crowded, there seems to always be an open seat. Loves: veggie burger, soup, fro-yo topping bar. Don't Loves: Tuna and egg salads (have a bit too much mayo). They do great catering as well for the office setting (cookie platter is bomb). read more

1) I find the name of this place deeply unappealing. 2) The entire fro-yo setup is clearly designed to make you spend a lot of money - self serve and lovely appetizing toppings will mean that you'll put way more in your cup than you would otherwise. Plan accordingly. 3) 8 fro-yo flavors - at least today - extra points for the green tea fro-yo, which was surprisingly tasty (and a bold lime green color). 4) This isn't the kind of place where you'd want to sit for a long time - it's a little bit too warm (note to Booeymonger- when the temperature is hovering around 85 degrees, put on the ac), and a little too austere, and it's clearly anticipating a 12 year old girl customer (based on cute lime green chairs, and cheesy boy band music), but the yogurt is good enough that I'd come back. read more

My opinion of Booeymonger may be slightly skewed, because I get only one thing when I come here. I had tried a few things before, but then one time, I decided to get the Chicken Rico sandwich, and I haven't gotten anything else since. Chicken, onions, lettuce, and lemon peppercorn dressing on French bread became one of my favorite sandwiches in the area. I wasn't even tempted to try any of the other sandwiches on the menu, although most of my friends who I have taken here have enjoyed the other stuff. The potato wedges are pretty good, too. Another thing it has going for it is that it stays open pretty late; up until 2AM on Fridays and Saturdays, if I recall correctly. In Friendship Heights, it's hard to find anyplace still open at that hour, so keep it in the back of your mind if you are looking for someplace to eat that late. I got the Californian for lunch today, first time there. It was crazy loud and chaotic in there. The line was pretty long, but moved quickly. The sandwich was pretty good. The chicken salad in it was too mayonnaise-y, which overpowered the avocado. Since the avocado was pretty much the reason I chose that sandwich, that was too bad. I would try another sandwich from them, though. The reasons they are not getting a higher rating from me yet: - The noise level. Holy cow! There must be a way to lower that. I have been to plenty of places that were just as busy and didn't make me wish I had ear plugs! - Too. Much. Mayo. - It wasn't pricey, but the cost was higher than the value in my opinion. - Only one vegetarian option, which didn't sound very good. As I said, I'll try it again, so it was not all bad. Maybe the next sammich I get there will be aaaahmazing and I'll give them a new review with another star. read more

The Booeymonger used to be pretty darn good, but now it is a shadow of its former self. We ate there yesterday, March 12, 2022 for lunch. The grilled ham and cheese sandwich was basically 1 slice of ham and 2 slices of cheese - barely had any taste. We also shared a cup of chicken noodle soup that was full of gelatinous chicken pieces and tasted terrible! Couldn't eat much of it it was so bad. Their prices are very high too - just shy of $21 for 1 grilled ham and cheese sandwich, cup of soup and 1 fountain soda! Not going back there for a long, long time. read more

There is a variety of sandwich choices for everyone. They even have salads for those who try to avoid sandwiches. Stopped in spontaneously on a Sunday night and was pleasantly surprised to find Frozenyo froyo and a selection of deli options and beers. The pitchers were only $7 and we got Goose Island IPA. I also got the Frozenyo, though they only had 2 flavored available and one was a bit liquidy. The toppings were also laid out in a confusing way so I didn't realize there were more options and there weren't any spoons in the toppings. I also ordered the hummus which came with warm pita bread for only $5, not the best hummus I've had but it was a good deal. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a chill place around Friendship Heights to hang out with a group. read more

We were walking around Friendship Heights one afternoon when we came along Booeymonger. It's one of my aunt's favorite places to eat around DC, so we decided we had to check it out. There were a lot of tasty-sounding options on the menu, and the prices were pretty good, especially for being in DC. I ended up getting a Philly cheesesteak (I don't remember its exact name on the menu). The sandwich was tasty -- I think Booeymonger is a good place to stop for lunch. There was an attached wing that had a serve-your-own froyo station, and although signs said that part was open, most of the machines were down or didn't have froyo. So we weren't able to grab dessert at Booeymonger's. Overall, I think this location is a good place to stop for a well-priced lunch in Friendship Heights. read more

This is your typical deli, except they sell booze. One good thing about this chain is they offer pretty decent daily specials. They do have a good variety here -- it's the place to go when you really can't decide what to do for lunch. A former co-worker of mine actually thought this place was named "Boogiemonger," and he would call it that incessantly, no matter how many times we corrected him. I think that might be the reason I'm only giving it two stars -- I associate it with that co-worker's annoying quirks. read more

If you want something quick, cheap and good portion size, you can go to McDonalds in Mazza gallery but if you want a little bit less-fast food wtih window seats and more variety of dishes, Booeymonger might be your best shot in Friendship heights area. Good portion size dishes. You can even get espresso drink (OK but don't try if you are an espresso snob...). Service: Highly motivated. Skip the dessert and have fro-yo. Good topping selections. Try seasonal flavor (e.g. pumpkin pie, peanut butter (awesome!! I don't like peanut butter so trust me. it's good)). You can ask for sample cup if you don't know which one to choose, or just get all different kinds into your cup so that u can try everything. Probably my favorite of the Booeymongers because of the ample seating. (Contrast with the Georgetown branch where you almost don't have room to open a newspaper.) The sandwich variety is great, although if you're indecisive about lunch you might be overwhelmed. Solid location too -- it's a convenient place to stop off before running errands in Chevy Chase. The bagels are actually pretty good (I'm a transplanted New Yorker), and I love the cinnamon coffee, although their one-refill policy is a bit annoying. I'd LOVE it if Booeymonger offered Wi-Fi, but I guess that would destroy their quick-turnaround business model. read more

This place is a pretty conspicuous corner eatery with the red and yellow awning that is visible from atop the hill on your way down into Friendship Heights. It's my "old stand-by" as far as restaurants go, which means I'm never really excited to eat there, and I usually leave wanting another sandwich or two, but it has something that will please even the most fickle of eaters. That is not to say that the sandwiches are culinary orgasms... they are, in essence, your basic, run-of-the-mill delicacies with assorted toppings interchanged to create a variety of confections. For example, there are about six different variations of the "turkey sandwich with melted cheese" that include options for bacon, avocado, sprouts, grilled onions, etc. The staff are always really friendly and accommodating of personal preferences: I went in there a month ago and was able to switch bacon for avocado for no additional charge. Although the sandwiches are not as huge as Katz's delicatessen in New York (and, let's be serious, what is?) they aren't as small as a $4 Potbelly sandwich. For a fair price - usually about $6 per sandwich - you can get a decent lunch, or, if you're like me, a pre-lunch snack. Just don't go in expecting The Four Seasons. read more

I ordered a smoothie and while I was waiting I noticed the floors were dirty in the kitchen and dining areas. I then watched one of the employees opening a cabinet on the floor and scooped ice that was in a metal bowl and fruit from another one. This cabinet was open to the dirty floor. They just opened a frozen yogurt bar here! And it's pay-by-the-ounce. Unlike other fro-yo places where one is limited to one flavor of yogurt and pays per each topping, Booeymonger offers complete freedom for fro-yo fans! They have several flavors of yogurt, one candy topping stand, and one fruit topping stand. Take as much or as little as you want and pay for what you pick! Love it! While most places I get a small size and one topping for $4, I left here paying $3 and had multiple toppings and two types of yogurt. Wheee! read more

What I like about Booeymonger's isn't necessarily their food- although that isn't bad. Instead, I like that they're open late and when you least expect it. I search high and low for places in DC with New York hours, and Booeymonger's - perhaps dependent on location - is up there. The food itself isn't so bad, but they've messed up my order a few times. Booey's is just fine. I'm struggling to think of what to write besides that. It serves adequate bagels; adequate salads; and sandwiches that run the gamut from ho-hum (the veggie burger) to pretty good (chicken gyro). There's delicious Fro-Zen-Yo in-store; prices are fair; peak times are crowded but efficiently run. And there are surprisingly good wedge-style French fries. This is not a culinary destination. Jetties and Wagshals are just two of the better sandwich places I can think of in a 3-mile radius. But if you're looking for a solid sandwich in Friendship Heights or dining with kids/unadventurous people/people with lots of different dietary needs/people on a budget, this is your place. read more

The sandwich shop where you want all of the things. My boyfriend and I will come here from time to time when we would rather have something other than Panera Bread or Chipotle. We typically like to split sandwiches in half, but order two separate orders for variety. If you're with someone and stuck between two choices that's most definitely the best way to go. Last night we were in the mood for "meat" so we went with The Manhattan and Philly Cheese Steak. (Nom nom nom), I have no complaints. As a side, however, we did order the macaroni salad which was sweet and not to my liking. I'll stick with the potato wedges next time, but overall it's a cool place to eat after a day of shopping. As far as quick sandwich places go, this one is my favorite. Subway and Potbelly's need not apply! The ingredients are fresh and delicious and named after classic movies or novels. My favorites: the Gatsby Arrow (roast beef with brie) and the 5th Avenue (Pastrami, mushrooms, and muenster cheese). Don't even think about getting a sandwich without their jojo potato wedges. They are divine. This is a great bargain place for lunch, especially in the ritzy Friendship Heights neighborhood. read more

I often pick up lunch here as I work nearby. Food is always fresh and service is always quick. Prices are fair... just fair, although the Miami burger is probably a bit overpriced. I generally go with either the Duke or the Ace, both are really great sandwiches and stand out as far as the hot subs go. read more

This review is for breakfast only. I love Booeymonger's breakfast selection. It's a guilty pleasure of mine when I'm running early to work and have some time to spare in the morning. They have the best everything bagels around! I find them to be just the right size and they taste great with just a little cream cheese or in a sandwich. Their egg sandwiches are especially yummy but I rated them a 3 instead of a 4 based on their breakfast potatoes. I am not a fan of onions or peppers in my hashbrowns but I do realize this is just a personal preference. The staff has always been friendly to me and it's usually not that crowded so you can find a quiet place to sit and read your paper before you head to work. Overall, I definitely recommend for breakfast and hope to check out their lunch/dinner selection soon. I've also been dying to try the fro yo as well. read more

Staff is rude. They don't honor their coupons. Every time I go there, there's some reason why they can't. You can't use THEIR discount card on certain sandwiches even though the coupon say ANY sandwich. They're coupon can be "expired" with no expiration date. Food is ok - but there's a wait no matter how slow they are. Did I mention the staff is rude as hell?? Yeah- never eating at this location again. Told the staff I was very disappointed with their service and will be writing a review to that effect- the MANAGER responded with "idc" SMH all I wanted for them to honor THEIR coupon which they had no business rejecting in the first place ugh read more

Placed an order with Grubhub, so this is more of a review on them as a vendor of the restaurant. 2 hours after ordering I contacted Grubhub and told them the order never came. I received updates saying the food was on the way and also that the food was delivered, but it wasn't. Grubhub said it was the restaurant's error and that they'd given the order to the wrong driver. But their driver didn't even notice...... This is the 2nd time this exact thing has happened in 3 weeks. Wanted to warn future customers that if you order delivery, there's a 66% chance you won't receive it. The restaurant needs to reprimand their vendor because Grubhub is making them look terrible. read more

I live in Friendship Heights and frequent Booymonger so I have a lot to say, but I'll try and keep it simple. The food: Fairlly cheap, large selection, avg. five minute wait. The staff: Usually friendly, always competent The atmosphere: Background music is played at a comfortable level, TVs usually don't display much, lots of seating I always get a complicated sandwich with potato wedges, but most things are pretty good. I'm partial to the carrot cake. The enclosed patio area has been converted to a self-serve froyo shop, aptly called Froyo. One of the owners of Booeymonger owns it. Essentially, its two businesses in the same location. This is what makes it one of my favourite places, officially. The frozen yogurt is good (both sweet and tart options) with lots of toppings and friendly staff. Its 39 cents/ounce and doesn't take up much space, there's still some patio seating. The froyo has become the best part for me, mostly because the only other self-serve frozen yogurt place I know of in the area is in Quince Orchard. Eat at Booymonger, treat yourself to some fairly priced fro-yo afterward! Oh, as far as alcohol goes, I believe it's just beer. read more

food takes an incredibly long time and they are really rude - like the lady who slid me my food this past weekend across the counter pushed it so hard it nearly fell off the other side. They also don't care about mask mandates - lots of people walking around without masks on who weren't eating or drinking and the cashier kept pulling off her mask to talk to customers.
