This is the new K-FC (Korean Fried Chicken) and it's very good. If you like FC and soy garlic flavor then you should definitely try it. I don't like spicy food so I thought their Mild FC which is very good. I also ordered their Don Katsu and it was ok. Pork was thin (perhaps from being deep fried) but their katsu sauce was excellent !! Maybe next time I'll try the chicken katsu since its a chicken place after all. The menu options are a bit pricey for what is essentially glorified fast food. Cost is more comparable with a group of 3+ people. Ok, so I finally tried boom boom Korean bbq chicken that some of my friends had bragged about and I must say its not all that. It is decent tasting wings and drums but not something worth bragging about, sorry y'all. First, expect to wait for about 25 minutes to get your food since they make their chicken fresh so don't come too hungry or call in advance for your meal. Second, their chicken are pricey. I must say I don't know how my family of four (2 adults and 2 kids) manage to ring up $50 worth of food at a fast food place, but we did. I mean we probably would be just as satisfied with the taste of our meal by going to Buffalo Wild Wings, but at least we can order of other non chicken things alongside of the meal. Overall, I'm giving a generous of 3 stars but the service was friendly and the place is clean. It's small with two televisions. Now I understand why this place is always busy. The prices aren't cheap, but the quality is there so I didn't mind paying more for the fried chicken. When you order the chicken and ask for the spice level to be spicy, the chicken is actually spicy. What a novelty! Don't get fooled by the sweet sauce coating the delectable chicken, you will definitely need tissues because the spice will hit you! An order takes about 20 minutes so I recommend placing the order and going shopping at H-mart, or getting a drink at Kung Fu Tea. If your looking for a place to bring a date, this place is probably not the place to go. Finally had a chance to stop by here while doing errands, and I do not regret it at all. I walked in and I was automatically greeted by the friendly woman at the counter. The restaurant is casual, clean and brightly lit. There's a big table by the counter where you can sit and peruse through the many available magazines while waiting for your order. I ordered a half order of chicken wings half spicy/ half garlic soy just to check it out. The lady took my name and said it would be 15 minutes. I guess they cook it to order. One thing I noticed they have a great exhaust system in there. The place did not smell like oily food and I didn't leave that place smelling like food either. After I left the resto I still has a few errands to run and although I tried to go home as quickly as possible I really thought that my crispy chicken would be soggy by now. When I got home I opened my brown paper bag giddy like a child opening presents on Christmas Day. The package was cute definitely not your average takeout box. The chicken pieces were neatly split down the middle by wax paper to separate the mild and spicy. After 1 bite I can definitely say that I'm in love!!!! For me to say that is a lot because I'm not a chicken lover. I prefer to eat beef, pork and seafood before I'll touch chicken. But this place will definitely make me think twice about snubbing chicken again. Tried the spicy one first and the chicken was still crunchy even after sitting in my car for an hour. The spice was perfect! It had a kick without overwhelming the chicken and there was a hint of sweetness too...maybe honey? I'm not sure. Boom Boom chicken is a pretty underrated spot! It is flanked by more popular destinations like Paris Baguette, Picnic Garden, and even H-Mart which is why I think it is so often overlooked. A friend and I split a small box of 12 wings & drumsticks (around $10-$12) which comes with a side of pickled radishes and also got a side order of sweet potato fries ($5). I thought this would not be a enough for the both of us but not only did it have us yummily stuffed, we still had food leftover! We also did not go during their lunch special time which has even cheaper prices. Plus, the chicken is freshly fried right when you make the order! Im so torn about this place getting mixed reviews. If you ever had Korean fried chicken, you know this place is legit. This is the best double deep fried chicken you can get in the area. Hands down. Yes, it's pricey and yes the chicken isn't that big. But people are comparing this to KFC or Popeyes. BTW, a bucket of 12 piece at KFC alone is $20+! If you want to compare apples to apples, in this case wings to wings...its about the same. But Korean fried chicken is in a category itself. Its not Country style, buffalo wings style, its Korean Fried Chicken! And Im a big lover of Buffalo Wild Wings, but the soy garlic sauce here is amazing. I'll take that over Garlic Parm Sauce any day. (Side note, I do hate how "American Asian Flavor" is pretty much Thai chili sauce. lol) The place is good if you want to sit and eat, but don't expect this to be that type of restaurant. Korean deep fried chicken wings. If you have had Bon Chin chicken before, it's essentially the same thing. Large orders are $20, can be mixed with mild and spicy. On their menu, there are different combinations; some are wings and arms, some are drumsticks only, etc etc. Since everything is made on the spot, you need to call 20 minutes ahead for take outs. If it's your first time ordering, ask them what they offer on the phone and they'll describe the combos that are on the menu. As for the chicken wings, I much prefer Buffalo Wild Wings over this. Boom Boom's sauce is delicious, but the meat (although pretty tender) tastes very bland. Also, the side pickled raddish that came with the order is just weird to me. Plus, the raddish pieces themselves are not even that crispy; don't taste fresh to me... Anyway, pretty good place to go to if I'm in the mood for spicy wings and proximity is a deciding factor often times. I ordered 6 flats on Ubereats and instead I got 5 drumsticks. FIVE drumsticks. I didn't order drumsticks, I wanted flats. But you know what, human error sometimes right ? This is one of the first stops my wife and I make when we visit her NJ family. We typically order take out, but this time we ate at the restaurant. Overall very clean and spacious interior with great counter service. The food comes out quickly enough too. When it comes to flavor, I'd say you're wasting your time if you're not eating the spicy chicken. The mild is ok, but it lacks the flavor punch of the spicy. It's sweet and very spicy, but nothing unbearable. On an unrelated note, not sure what kind of roided out, hormone-filled chickens other reviewers are used to, but the comments about small chicken pieces are off base. I love Korean-style wings because the seasonings and spices are phenomenal! The soy garlic and Korean spicy flavors just make your mouth want to water. I used to go get Korean wings at Bonchon in New Brunswick, but that one closed down. I saw this place and decided to give it a try. I ordered #2: (small) wings - half spicy, half soy garlic! The flavors were not bad! I enjoyed the spicy one more because the soy garlic was a bit lacking in flavors, especially after I had a piece of the spicy one. The spicy wings were too strong in flavors in compared to the soy garlic ones, so after eating the spicy one, the flavors of the soy garlic were overshadowed by the spiciness in my mouth. The skin was pretty crispy, but the wings were a little fat. The service was decent - very quick with the ordering and attentive, but it's self served. The tables were clean and shiny. I don't want to leave this review. I like Boom Boom Chicken, it tastes good, it's better than stopping at most fried chicken places however it took around forty minutes to get fried chicken. I could have eaten in a restaurant in the time frame it took to get take-out. What really annoyed me was they had someone there taking pictures of two giant plates of fried chicken almost the entire time. I understand you need a better image but creating that image caused a massive delay in serving paying customers. Finally, it is pricey. Don't think that it isn't. I had read in the previous reviews that even had pictures to look out for the cranky girl with highlights that worked at the counter, when I went there Sunday lunch time I thankfully did not see that girl, maybe she got fired or she wasn't in rotation. Either way, I was greeted by a friendly lady who put a caller on hold right as i was about to say my order. YES, THANK YOU, SHE GOT THEM PRIORITIES STRAIGHT! I placed my order and had forgot my wallet in the car, she took the order of the others that walked in as I went to grab my wallet from the car in the parking lot and when I went back to the counter I paid for the order, got my Snapple Green Tea and waited. Now mind you, you will wait a while. prolly 10-20 minutes maybe more depending on how large the order is. But believe me it is well worth it, it takes time to make amazing food. We ordered the small portionof wings half and half, small portion drums half and half (both of which come with pickled sweet radish), tonkatsu lunch special which also comes sauce and rice and corn salad, edamame and sweet potato fries. We waited until i heard my name and brought the trays to our table. As to be expected, the wings and drums were FULL SIZE. The skin was crunchy, savory, sweet, salty, garlicy and the meat juicy, The corn salad is like a coleslaw minus the cabbage and carrot. The edamame was warm and excellent (and i prefer my edamame cold). The tonkatsu was ok, maybe it was the sauce they give you, the sauce is a savory sauce as if they are straight up drippings, my mom wasn't a fan of it but i was, it reminded me of home made barbecue sauce one a chicken parm. The side of sweet potato fries is a great addition for starch and a filler in the meal and not greasy at all, i think they lightly coat the fries and air fry them (you may have to sprinkle a packet or two of salt because the sweet potato fries we ate were not seasoned). And there was the star of it all. The pickled radish; it's a refreshing cool taste, not too sour, not too sweet and yet it cleanses the palette when you are going back and forth with the chicken, edamame, corn salad and sweet potato fries. The chicken, corn salad, sweet potato fries and pickled radish were definitely the highlights of the meal. I am absolutely recommending this place to my friends, family and coworkers. And to those who posted their small chicken portion sizes, here is a pic of our meal, there aint nothing small about the chicken we ordered. The only way it could be better is if they had the wings whole, that means drumette, flat/wingette and the tip; uncut. Otherwise, I still aint even complaining, their chicken is so good they put KFC and Popeyes and even other local chicken shops to shame. read more

Hmm, my first experience with korean friend chicken started with Kono chicken inside the Hmart food court in Edison. Since then I have tried bon chon, cho sun and now boom boom. First impressions: The space is REALLY BIG, the reverse of my Joey's pizza in Bellville, where a lot of space is given to customers thank you! The place is clean and the cashier is friendly and very patient. The chicken options seemed a little daunting its either $12 or $20 (med or large). I'm a big eater, but once in a while we like to go small especially since this is still the audition. Chicken..I chose half spicy and half mild. I agree with other yelpers that the batter is not the crispy kind like bon chon. The chicken pieces are big, I'm still partial to just chicken wing pieces. Taste..ahmm its good but at current time I think Kono chicken still ahead. However this place is great to have a meal with friends since it doesnt seem as noisy as Hmart, at least at lunchtime. I finally tried Boom Boom Chicken and I'm addicted. Their fried chicken is delicious. I like the spicy whole chicken which is a mix of wings, breast meat and legs. I've been several times in the last month, can't believe what I was missing! It is a little bit expensive, I usually spend $16-$20, but on the other hand you're getting a lot of chicken. I recommend you order to-go, it normally takes about 10-15 minutes for them to make it and I have never eaten there, so I've started calling ahead. Parking is a pain in the butt at this shopping complex, and I'm not a fan of the sweet and sour radish dish that they give you with it. Price wise 20 bucks for 20 smallish wings is a little steep but I guess comparable to bdubs (without the specials or sides). I am still deciding which place I prefer wings at.
