I love crispy fired chicken and sometimes I may just peel off the crispy skin from chicken pieces and eat that instead of the chicken meat. I was told how good Korean fried chicken was but never experience it and never had the will to go to K Town. Then I found out that Korean Boom Boom Chicken from Fort Lee opening up in my town, Rutherford NJ, and now I had no excuses not to try it. I had the menu flyer and it recommend that I order 25 minutes ahead. So I did and asked for pick up of the the Large 6 piece drumstick, 10 wings combo for $ 20. With half the chicken with spicy spicy garlic sauce and the other half with mild garlic soy sauce. It comes with your choice of steam rice or coleslaw which I picked. Additionally I asked for some fries and onion rings. Their are only 6 items on the menu, with mozzarella sticks house salad beside the chicken and other items I ordered. I got there in twenty minutes and waited another ten or fifteen more minutes for my order. The place is small with only two or three 2 seat tables inside in case you want to eat there. They cook the and prepare the food in the back in a sub-room so you don't know or see how it's done I took my order home to eat and share. Both the spicy and mild chicken had a sweet and tasty candy coating. The double frying makes it real crispy but not dry. But the spicy spicy was already burning my tongue after the second piece and I stuck to the mild after that. The fries are also crispy and both the fries and onion rings where good, the coleslaw was also delicious but different from American style. I still do KFC when needing to do a big bucket with biscuits and the sides with extra fries, my old habits are hard to give up on. But Boom Boom is my choice if we only need a few pieces and is closer to me or that I have that craving for the garlic sauce taste. Super crispy skin, delicious soy garlic! As good as any other Korean fried chicken in North Jersey. Instead of radishes you can try their cole slow which is saltier than American cole slaw. No parking, parallel & meter parking only. Only negative part was when they told us 20 minutes, but it actually ended up being closer to 30. These are the best chicken wings I have ever had. They are magic. They taste just the right amount of sweet spicy and salty. They are moist warm crispy and not too greasy. So many wing places gip you and give you a wing the size of a nugget with barely any chicken on it. This place has meaty good sized flavorful wings. There are a few tables to wait for take out or to sit down at, but I would not recommend going to eat in with a big group. Did a yelp order for pick up and they screwed up my order!! It legit took 40 min from the time I placed it until the time it was ready for pick up. Ordered the wings for a Sunday football snack. They were so crispy and delicious. The flavor was bursting but they weren't overly sauced. Also I was shocked to get whole chicken legs mixed in which was great. Also the steamed pork dumplings were perfect and pretty big. Their dumpling sauce was one of the best I've had. No thanks. First time trying here few months ago and everything I asked for on their limited menu was out of stock. Chicken is double coated in breading and oily. Drinks in fridge were warm. The flavor of the spicy garlic was good, overall good crisp to the breading, and the woman who rang us up for our take out order was very nice... but the LOW rating is for the staple (yes, like from a stapler, bent from use) we found in the breading of one of the wings, the complete lack of flavor in the soy garlic, the tiny size of the side of cole slaw (the container was not even filled near the top...wasnt very tasty anyway, had a bit of a chemical taste), and the wildly inconsistent wing sizes - you'd pick up a normal size wing but the next would be 1/4 of that (drumsticks were a good size, though...wish I took a picture to show the crazy difference). I'd honestly forgive most of these, but on top of all that, it was pricy for what you get. Just not worth it. Go to Peck Peck instead. read more

Boom Boom Chicken is an unassuming gem of the Rutherford Park Ave food scene. This place serves high quality Korean fried chicken. They keep it simple with a menu consisting primarily of chicken, which you can have with a spicy or garlic-soy flavored sauce. As other reviewers have noted, everything is made-to-order so you will have to wait. I recommend calling ahead and giving them about half an hour to prepare the order. I personally prefer this over having food that may serve quicker but has been sitting around for hours. Please note that Korean fried chicken is significantly different than traditional American fried chicken in that the crust of KFC is thinner with less fat. It's different but also really good. As with any fried chicken though, it pairs great with football and beer. read more

For $7 you get several pieces of Korean fried chicken (I opted for a combo of mild and hot, definitely preferred the extra kick that the hot gave me!), a small salad (which had a fantastic dressing), and either rice or French fries. I opted for the white rice. I ate in. The presentation wasn't anything special, you just get a styrofoam container with plastic utensils... but really, that's all you need. And it was good that I could just fold that lid over and walk out with my leftovers, that was a ton of food for just $7. Plus, you have to love a place that stocks Stewart's Root Beer and Orange Cream soda. Good service, good food, and leftovers to bring home for under $10. read more

These were some really tasty wings. We ate in, the store has a couple of tables in it but it appears most of their business is takeout. We ordered the mild wings. Great flavor! The fries were very good also. I also had a side of pickled radish......it was nice having a different side for a change. The server was very helpful and quite friendly. If you are eating in it might be a good idea to call ahead.....it takes about 20-25 minutes for the chicken to be cooked.......the chicken is made to order ....nice to know its not laying around under a heat lamp. 4.5 stars. Oh boy where do I begin. The settings is very fast food restaurant meaning: a few tables for dining in, a fridge with some soft drinks and a counter with the menu on the wall for ordering. The man taking our order was very courteous and even warned us to not order too much cuz it was a lot of food. Speaking of the food, I got us large wings & drumsticks (#1), mozzarella sticks and French fries. When we got the food, we were shocked. The wings were HUGE and the portions of the sides were HUGE as well. The fries were super freshly fried, crispy and NOT greasy not all; donno how they pulled that off. The wings were meaty and crunchy to the bite. Can't say much for the mozzarella sticks cuz they looked like they came in a package but freshly fried nonetheless; crispy on the outside and melted to perfection on the inside. At the end of the day, it was a good meal and we even had some leftover to take home for later. Def. will come back again; it's only 10mins away from where I live! P.s. I love hot and sweet so the spicier sauce was right on target for public consumption. Alright time for a review since we order chicken wings here almost every friday. They also have drumsticks if you prefer a bigger piece. Their chicken is sooo good! Crunchy on the outside and moist inside. The flavors are amazing..and addicting! If you like spicy then their spicy chicken is really good you wont regret it! Simple menu and pricing, and very generous portions. A medium without a side is more than enough for a person (I couldn't even finish it). Juicy, crunchy, garlicky, spicy, sweet goodness. Wipes the floor with the only thing similar in the area which is red basils chicken wings. I suggest getting a half spicy, half mild order. It's not ultra spicy but it did have my nose running a bit, which made it so much better. Paired it with an ice cold beer and it was perfect.
