Came here as a last minute dinner upon arriving to Boone for a weekend getaway. This place did not disappoint and is one of the reasons I will be coming back to Boone again soon. The food was incredible - we had the chicken sandwich and it was one of the best ever as well as a pepperoni flatbread which was special since they make it on naan. All the beers were to die for, especially the really fun sour patch one that was delicious and cute with a sour patch garnish to boot. I felt so incredibly safe with their covid protocols. They require masks while interacting with the staff, which shows that they care for their employees and guests alike. Our server Dylan, went above and beyond and was so knowledgeable and kind and even recommended some great hikes for us to try. 10/10 recommend and will be back. read more

I wanted to love this but the food was disappointing. We loved the beer and choices of beer flights! I cannot believe we had to pay $7 each for 2 kids meals and they were awful - our kids didn't eat them and when I tried them, they had no flavor so I basically threw away $14. The kids cheese "pizza" was 4 teeny slices of soft flavorless bread and the kids chicken nuggets had the weirdest breading - it was very chewy and bland. I got the cheese fries and a side salad. Fries were great. They didn't have shredded cheese so I went for blue cheese. I'm not sure why pickled(?) cauliflower came on the salad either. Hubby got the smoked sausage sandwich which was good, but way smaller than expected - and the slaws were TERRIBLE!! Overall a VERY expensive lunch with disappointing food but great beer. Excellent selection of beers and very good food in an upscale brewery setting. We sat on the covered porch and enjoyed the breeze. Indoor seating is spacious and clean. The owners went all out designing and decorating this functional brewery. I enjoyed the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, Cole slaw and a beer flight. We also had a flat bread and my son had a burger which came with a generous portion of fries. Service was excellent and unrushed. Next time we'll try to come back when they are doing brisket and sit in the beer garden. They have a separate food truck kitchen and beer service in the garden with picnic tables to spread out. Very family friendly. And yes the beer is fantastic. They have a wide variety from multiple styles of IPAs, Ales, an Amber Honey, darker styles and for the lighter beer crowd they have wheat beer, a sour Gose (you have to try it, very refreshing!), and an easy drinking Pilsner. I came here now that the state is reopening and I was very impressed with the way the staff was handling COVID safety precautions. The logistics were set up to make sure everyone was distant and all the procedures were explained in a clear manner. I felt very safe outside in the beer garden and the staff were working very hard and remained nothing but pleasant even with how many people were there. Now, onto the other stuff: The space- Love the outside beer garden and how dog friendly it was. The beer- The grapefruit gose was my favorite. Not a big fan of the tropicalpale ale. The food- So good! I had the highcountry flatbread and the brezel. Both were awesome (though I would not have listed the brezel under "smalls." Came in today on a Tuesday at 4 pm, not busy at all. Sat at the bar, service was horrible. Ordered honey nuggets as appetizer and sat there without silverware for awhile. Had to hunt down staff to get silverware and napkins. Waited 20 minutes to order beer and to order dinner entrees and bar staff never came back to get the order so we cashed out and left. Highly disappointed that we were ignored even asking for beer and to place an order. Asked several times about the sausage on the menu, 3 times actually and the 3rd time told the cook was out sick so not available. A visit to Boone isn't complete without a visit to Booneshine Brewing and Basil's! I especially love thier hours. It's not often you can belly up to a brewery's bar at 10:30am on a weekday but Booneshine obliges. Editor's note: I don't OFTEN belly up to the bar at 10:30am on weekdays but when you're on vacation, sometimes you just want a mid-morning beer, ok?! ;) My husband and I have pretty different taste in beer. He loves IPAs and I love pretty much everything but IPAs. We both agree on our hatred of sours, at least. Despite these opposite tastes, we both always manage to find something we love at Booneshine. I'd recommend any of their dark beers -- porters, stouts, browns are all tasty here -- and the TropicPale and Amber ales. Ted loves all their IPAs, especially the Bitter Faculty brewed in conjunction with App State. The snacks available from Basil's, the restaurant they share a space with, are an added plus! Husband ordered a half pour of the Hatchet Coffee Porter followed by the Molasses Porter. The coffee porter was his favorite. I went with a flight followed by a half pint of the High Country Honey. We stopped in on a Sunday around lunchtime and immediately got a seat. The service was fantastic from start to finish. We had an app that was good, but the shining star was the flatbread pizza. It was definitely the best pizza I've had at a brewery and could beat just about any other pizza. I loved how they use naan bread instead of the traditional dough. I enjoyed every bite and wished for more even though I was full. The beer was good as well. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Boone. read more

Get to the hostess and this is the convo that ensued: Me: Hi, there's 2 of us Her: I'm sorry it's trivia night and we're full Me: (looking around, seeing open spots inside & out) Can we sit outside? Her: We don't serve food out there Me: (waiting for her to tell me what my options are...) Can we order takeout? (Mind you, we are starving!) Her: No Me: (again, waiting patiently for her to tell me what our options are...) Her: Well I can put you on the list but I don't think we'll have anything before the kitchen closes, BUT I can put you on the list (we were the only customers that would've been on that "list", nobody else was waiting) Someone else walks by and points out a couple open spots at the bar.. Her: if you find a spot at the bar you can sit there I don't post this to bash the place, just to illustrate a lesson in customer service. I believe Covid is the cause of this, but we came here on a Tuesday afternoon and there was a 1-2 hour wait. We wanted to order food and just eat somewhere outside, but the kitchen was only taking orders for people who were seated at a table. While we waited, we got a couple of the hazy IPAs they had on tap which were pretty good. After sipping on some beer by the picnic tables for while, we finally got seated inside. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and was not disappointed. However, the fries that came with it were mediocre at best. Boonshine is definitely more of a restaurant than just a strict brewery, since most of the inside tables are reserved for table service. Expect a wait, it's popular and service is a bit slow. All of the beers that we tried were great. Also got a pretzel with beer cheese (amazing) and the fried chicken sandwich with an added fried egg. It was sticky and sweet and crispy and amazing. What a great place and to top things off it is run very well. We came here to just check it out while we were staying in Fosco. The location is a little strange as it is in the middle of a manufacturing park but when you get here you just do not notice. So peaceful. The layout is pretty cool and on this day it was snowing and cold but enough fire pits outside if you wanted to take in a beautiful day around the fire, which was perfect on this day. It got busy and empty in waves in the hour and a half we were there and the staff handled it well, never really had to wait long for anything, Drinks food, attention when needed. We ordered the Salt and vinegar chickpeas the only issue I had was they could have had more of a vinegar taste but that is purely subjective. Great Beers and some great Logo Gear throughout and Bathrooms were clean, place has some great art work on the walls. Seating I noticed when it gets busy can be scarce but as I said earlier it clears out pretty good at least on this day. They will need to add on another 2 or 3 Fire-pits, on this day it would have been perfect to pull people outside. All in all this place has a subtle magic to it, comfortable, homey feeling and the all lady staff on this day handled this place, like no ones business. Well Done to everyone at this place, its up to you to keep it special and do not just rest on your laurels. We will recommend you! read more

This brewery was a nice surprise to visit. It's located next to a park and there is plenty of parking both on-site and across the street. They have a restaurant plus a food truck outside. There is tons of tables and plastic chairs, games, outside bar and clean bathrooms. I tried a few appetizers and some gluten free drink options. The G/F cider was delish!! I sat outside and could people/dog watch the surroundings. Service was on-point. Kid and well behaved pet friendly. This is definitely a place I plan on returning to over and over. I would say try the G/F cider, cauliflower small plate, and the Brussels sprouts. read more

We love checking out new breweries and decided to try Booneshine for lunch. Unfortunately we decided to do this on a Saturday afternoon so the place was packed. They told us it was like a 45 min wait for a table, but we were also told we could get beer and all the food they have on the menu over at the outside area next to the parking lot. Since we were starving we decided to do that. Unfortunately they did not have the same food outside as they do inside. In fact all they really had outside was BBQ and neither of us was in the mood for BBQ. So we just got some beers and an order of cheese curds. The beer was decent and the curds were good, unfortunately that's all we got to eat during our visit. Outside only some tables have umbrellas and the sun was baking, it was HOT when you were under the sun. Luckily we managed to get the last umbrella table. After eating our cheese curds and beer we really wanted something else to eat that wasn't BBQ. So my girlfriend went back to the hostess and she told me they got us a table.... It was not a table. It was like some extra bar style seating all the way outside with nothing to cover you from the sun. We were BAKING. I didn't expect to get a free tan with my meal. Whatever, vitamin d, we order a smoked sausage to start... or at least that was the plan. We waited and waited and waited... getting hotter and hotter and no sausage to be found. 45 min in and everyone around us has already gotten their food and some are already leaving. Still... no sausage. Now mind you these sausages must have already been smoked a while ago, no one smokes sausages to order so all they had to do was put the sausage on a plate and fry some chips. Finally we had enough of the heat and waiting and tell our server to just pack it to go for us because our tans are done. Then the manager comes out and apologizes for the delay says something about a printer problem or something. She does offer to refund the sausage and we could still take it to go. Ok great. We wait again... manager comes back asks if we want anything to snack on while we wait for our sausage... mind you we are probably like an hour into this already. No thanks, I just want to get out of here... we wait and wait and wait and still nothing. Sorry but we are done, we left, never even saw this mythical sausage. With so many great breweries in the area I doubt we would return anytime soon. Maybe it's a decent place if you just want to drink and get a tan. read more

We are locals and we come to Booneshine often. The beers and service are always wonderful. However, we have noticed that the food portion sizes have gotten dramatically smaller. We feel like they have increased prices, yet decreased the food portions. We ordered 2 burgers and a large fry to share the last time we came. One burger included bacon, and we noticed it was only one slice of bacon split into two pieces. The burgers themselves looked much smaller than 1/3 pound patties, and the large fry only looked like one serving. We would really like to see Booneshine go back to what it was before. It used to be a combination of great food and beer, but we are disappointed whenever we go now. read more
