First time shopper, pleasantly surprised by the high level of retail courtesy. I came in on a Sunday afternoon and had a great experience. The salesperson asked questions to gauge my style preference, budget, foot sizing, intended use level of my boots- her expertise was amazing. The Boot Barn in Rocklin CA honestly has the best selection of everything but customer service can ruin all of that. After spending well over $300 today, I noticed that all of my items were simply thrown into a plastic bag. This included a $90 shirt that I bought as a Father's Day gift; so of course I didn't want it to get wrinkled. After I noticed how all of my items were in the bag I took them all out in front of the lady that rang me up and folded them all one by one in front of her and not even a simple 'sorry' came out of her. The store wasn't even busy enough for her to say that she was rushed and did it without realizing it, which would've been understandable. But there was only one other person behind me. This is now by far the worst location I have ever been too. I came about a month ago and dealt with a younger gentleman named Brett and felt good about my experience but I came back last weekend and not only was Brett no longer there, but Sam, who helped me get my work boots last time I came, was also no longer there. Juliet, the manager was extremely unhelpful. She likes to act as if she is truly helpful but she's very condescending in how she talks to customers. She makes you feel as if you are an illiterate child. She just did not give good customer service and whenever another employee would help me and she would walk by, they looked like they were terrified of her. The only reason why I finished my transaction was because Cole and Birch gave great service. My daughter said Brianna was helpful but overall, I wasn't very unsatisfied with my time in this store. I can only assume Juliet doesn't treat her employees any better than she treats her customers. I'm never gonna come back here again. Gonna miss Brett and Sam. This used to be one of my favorite places to shop for boots and western wear. I come in specifically looking for either Birch and/or Brett to help me out because they had always given me great service, advice, and are clearly very knowledgeable with boots, hats, and clothing. I came in expecting to see one of them to help and neither were working and the angry looking Mexican lady clearly did not actually want to help customers because she kept trying to pass me and other customers in the building off to other people so she could stay at the register area. To learn that Brett recently had been let go and Birch does not get a lot of hours is very disappointing and I will be looking for another western wear place to go to find some more knowledgeable people. If this angry lady is one of the members of management then this company should make a change asap because management is supposed to be the most knowledgeable and most willing to give the best service possible, not the most willing to pass off customers to others and be lazy at the register area. If giving zero stars was an option I would do so. But the regular staff were very kind and helpful all 3 times I had to go into the store to fix one issue, so they can take the 1 star. As far as management goes, they are the reason we will never shop at boot barn again. Which sucks for them considering all of my family wear boots and not the cheep ones . The manager Julliette was nasty every time I was in. I witnessed her being mean and dismissive to her employees, treating them like they were idiots. Here is my tale of whoa: 1. My husband got me a gift card for Christmas. I couldn't find anything in store so they told us we could order them on line and, if we had any problems, we could return them to any store and exchange them. 2. Well, the boots didnt fit well. So I took them to the store to exchange them, but, apparantly, because I bought them with a Boot Barn gift card, I couldn't just exchange them outright. I had to wait 3 days for them to credit back their own gift card before I could buy the new boots I picked out at their store. 3. Fine, but I return 3 days later and now she tells me that even though the credit was approved, I had to wait for Boot Barn to snail mail me a replacement gift card. What?!!! I said " you and the on-line person I spoke with never told me a card was being mailed. You said you would credit my money back in 3 days." She stares at me blankly....I say " the sales girl and I even checked with you to make sure it was fesable for me to return in 3 days and buy my boots" She says that she didn't know what we were asking her and if she had understood she would have advised differently. She unapologetically informed me that online. Maybe if she hadn't been so dismisive and rude to her employee and interupting her that she would have understood. (This is the same woman by the way who originally told us how easy it was to buy on line and use boot barn's gift cards). 4. Not one time in all interactions with with manager Juliette was I addressed, greeted or treated with any kind of respect or kindess. This was a horrible experience, buying close to $500 worth of boots is supposed to be fun, not a 3 visit hassle where you get treated horribly. Boot barn has lost our business for life and I caution against any on line exchange, returns or the location in Rocklin. If this is the type of management Boot Barn values, they are going to lose a lot of business. Juliette couldn't be bothered to treat either her own employees or ger customers with respect and attention. If you want boots go to Handley's in folsom or Lee's Feed in Shingle Springs. They treat you well and you can walk out with your boots the day you buy them. read more

Will never shop at this boot barn again. The blonde girl with a cowboy hat that is always there has been rude the past 2 times I've gone and asked for help to find the right sizes for my girlfriend. Every time we ask for help she rolls her eyes and seems upset she has to stop and help. I've been to this store a few times now. I would have given them 4 stars except I feel like they don't have many boots to choose from for women, if you're smaller than a size 6.5 (I'm a size 6). I had a hard time finding a pair of boots that fit me right. The customer service is hit or miss, some times there's not many people working...but most of the employees are pretty helpful and friendly. I needed a cowboy hat for a Garth Brooks concert tomorrow. I've heard this store advertised on country stations so I decided to go there. I was excited to shop there, but my excitement was short lived. I walked in and pass two employees and they didn't utter a word. Maybe they thought I was lost or something. Probably don't see many black people stroll through. Anyway I proceed to the hat section and try on several hats. My fiancé went to the Rancho Cordova location on Friday and may have just overlooked the location because he thought the business closed down. Which then led us the Rocklin location. Unfortunately, my fiancé's company was not registered at this location to receive his free work boots (he had a voucher from work). These two ladies went out of their ways to make sure we didn't have to leave without my fiancé's boots. The customer service is terrible! I went in looking for a pair of tall riding boots of high quality. Not once was I greeted or acknowledged. I was in there over a half hour. Everyone ignored me. I made sure to make my presence known as I went up and down the isles looking and handling the most expensive boots. I got nothing. The man helping a customer knew I was next and after finishing up he walked right by me as i stood looking at him expecting to be waited on. I didn't love this Boot Barn because from the minute I got there I felt like they ONLY cared about up selling. I was already planning on buying a $200+ pair of boots but that didn't seem to be enough for them. The woman who helped us was knowledge, yes, but her attitude sort of took a dive when I told her that I didn't care to buy all of the polishes and accessories that they recommend buying with the boots. I found this rather insulting. I was already going to spend a lot and they didn't seem to appreciate this. Next time I need these sorts of item's I will buy online or from eBay. read more

This location unfortunately gives off a poor representation of the company as a whole. I was browsing online and say a jacket going for $35, although wanted to go in and try it on before purchasing it. So I recently went into the store and noticed the jacket had a price of $50. I brought this up to one of the employees to where she gave zero explanation as to the price difference and refused to match price. I gave a call to the boot barn customer service in which I was informed that the store is capable of choosing whether or not to match price or not. I informed another gal there about the price match, to which she gave me little explanation, which really was no explanation at all, to simply finish with them simply choosing to just not price match. I really love the company and what they provide, but it's very unfortunate that they have such poor representation, as it pushes customers away from returning. Although the boots were nice and I thought they were fairly expensive at $209.99 plus tax, I felt a little overwhelmed with the constant checking in. I went there for the first time today, and immediately went to the front desk - clerk greeted me, asked if I could use help -I said yes, I've never bought cowgirl boots and wanted some. Erika was excellent - showed me styles in my size, advised me on how to select a pair, and since one I like wasn't there in my size, she ordered it from another branch. She advised me re other stuff like boot socks that won't fall down, and boot trees to keep boot toes from curling up - not in a pushy way, just educational. I gotta say, she was one of the best sales associates I've ever met. So I don't know about some of these negative reviews here, my experience was excellent. read more

I went to boot barn in search of motorcycle boots. As a female rider the boots that most motorcycle shops sell are for women who ride on the back of bikes (ie--no shifting required). The boots typically are very stiff and the toes too thick to fit under the gear shift. I had tried multiple cycle shops around Sacramento area (with no luck) and bought/returned boots online. I was to the point I was just going to ride in regular shoes. Finally in a last ditch effort I landed at Boot Barn. Of course, they have an amazing array of ladies cowboy boots, but they also have some really wonderful utilitarian boots. I settled for an ankle style, zip-up (front) pair of Ariat boots. About $120, which is around the price of the cycle shops (maybe a bit less). Clearly Ariats are not designed for motorcycles, but the tight fit and top notch leather make them comfortable and safe (and flexible with slim toes). I gave them a test ride today and they worked marvelously. Nina, the sales clerk was very helpful and knowledgeable. She also rides motorcycles so I was pleasantly surprised to have the sales woman understand my dilemma and commiserate with me over the woes of women's motorcycle boots (or the lack thereof). This also helped her guide me to the right pair of boots. Loved the Boot Barn---thought they were all very nice and helpful when needed. Not sure what the negative reviews on here are about--I would strongly recommend this shop and the staff. And FYI--for those of you thinking of buying online--did that and paid 'restocking fees' up to 20% plus return shipping. I can't imagine I would deal w/ that BS at BB. read more

I went to boot barn on July 19th with my wedding party. I called in over a week in advance and spoke to a women on the phone-(wish I got her name)let her know exactly why I was coming by, and how many people I had coming with me. (I was told by a friend that if we contact them that an entire wedding party in coming in that they will offer a discount.) The lady on the phone said yeah, just ask for the manager when you come in. I asked her if there was anything special I needed to do before hand, and her response was "no". So day of, I have my wedding party of four girls and my mother. all whom were buying boots. I walk in speak to a young lady told her I was advised to ask for a manager in regards to a discount for my wedding party. she told me she would go speak to her manager and that we can start looking. all of us head to the boots and about 30 minutes goes by and the young lady comes up to me and tells me that the request has to go to corporate for the discount to be approved and that it wouldn't be offered today. I told her I called in advance to get anything like this handled ahead of time. I had two girls that drove 2 hours to come and we were going to buy the boots today. so now I'm upset, I did my part on calling ahead of time and it still wasn't good enough. So we decided we would get them anyways, but tried signing up for their reward program to get a 10% discount, well that is for online purchases only. At this point I just wanted to leave, then came Darci. the only saving grace in this situation, she said that even though the discount online wont work that she will give us all a 10% discount a "wedding party" discount. I said thank you, and she proceeded to give all my girls the discount and told me about their reward program so we can come back for my fiancés boots.
