Came here purely because of the raving reviews. It's an experience. Something different. Just average and basic. I think the "hole in the wall" aspect is what brings people here. Well, first things, first. This is not even a restaurant; it is just a couple of guys that have a flat top and produce a very, very flavourful burguer. The 3 star rating is based on the fact that you can only place your order, out of a small combination of meat, cheese and veggies, and are not allowed to even eat it on the premises. They do not offer fries, but you can select something from their chips shelf. For drinks, the go to is a vending machine nex to the order/pick up window (bring quarters) I had to wait 25 minutes to get my fix, a lot of orders before mine. Apparently, they open for a few hours a day only around noon, and are closed on Mondays, so check before heading out. All of this being said; it is a very hearty, tasty, juicy and very well made hamburguer. Next time, I'll enjoy it more, since now I know how things work, I am DEFINITEVELY coming back! Loved it! Heard the raving reviews, so we did a night recon to find it in preparation for lunch the next day. Noticed tons of cats hanging out around the house. Don't believe the hype, it's a cheese / hamburger. The entire establishment has aged over the years and is fairly worn down. Several holes along the base of the house / kitchen. This place is the real deal. Set deep inside a historic neighborhood, Boots Burger is basically a wooden shack inside of a guys backyard, and no I am not making that up. I went here on a quest to find the best burger in Rockwall, and instead I might have found one of the best burgers in DFW or beyond. When I pulled up cars were parked all down the road as scores of people were walking towards the shack with a smile or back to their cars with a brown bag. I ordered by burger, which was surprisingly CHEAP in cost, and had to wait 20 minutes due to the demand. When I got my food home and ate it, it was PURE BURGER BLISS. I had a Double Double. It's melted cheese, perfectly seasoned and seared meat, and fresh veggies was making me question why in the heck I had never eaten here before hand. I've been looking forward to going to this place for a while. Went one day 40 minutes before closing and they had run out of burgers. Decided to go one Monday then realized it was closed. Finally went early(20 minutes after opening) and it was already very busy so I just knew it was going to be good. I ordered the double double (double meat, double cheese) and was quoted it would be a 20 minute wait but I didn't mind because it was going to be worth it. Well it was not worth it. Awesome old school burger at a great price. This is not one of those giant burgers that barely fit in the bun, but rather what a good burger was back in the day. A little greasy and a lot of fun. Part of the allure is the 'shack' they cook the burgers in. It's a slightly worn neighborhood that has character. The only thing that would have made it better was if they'd let you eat it there. I imagine it has something to do with code enforcement. As I don't live in the area my companion and I had to bring our burgers downtown and eat em on the courthouse steps, which actually was kind of cool. These burgers are yelping delicious :). Don't let the location fool u if u don't pass it but just keep the head on a swivel and you'll find out that this place is legit. When it comes to Boots, simplicity is a marvilous thing...you're not getting any special sauce(maybe the hot relish falls into this category), or over the top fixings with this burger, but what you do get with the grease, pickles, lettuce, cheese and just seasoned right patty will hit the spot for you any time. Im pretty new to Rockwall and still finding the little gems, but if any of you are visiting or out and about between the hours of 11-1:30ish in the afternoon stop on by and hurt your diet a little, cause I plan on doing it again very soon. read more

Lived in Rockwall 20 years & had never heard of Boots. I mostly hang south of I-30 and don't visit the oldtown much so that might explain it in part. I was actually sorry i'd eaten at Zanata's instead! So today I made my kid show me where it is, and got me one - just a simple single cheeseburger. Man what a treat. I've been meaning to try this hidden gem for some time. It lived up to the reviews! The burger was delicious. The relish is really spicy if that's what you want you will like it. I wish I could have gotten a fork and napkins at least but this is a extremely no frills place. You can buy drinks and chips on site but you can't eat or drink anything there fyi. They sell burgers from their house so if you're looking for a fancy place to sit down and eat, this is not the place to go. However, if you want a affordable authentic burger I definitely recommend Boots! The cheeseburger was only $3.50 and was very filling. I recommend adding jalapeno relish for $.50 more, it gives it a really nice kick of flavor. The location is a little difficult and hours are very limited. You're not allowed to eat on the premise because it is their actual house and they only accept cash! It would be nice if they offered fries or condiments but you can get chips there too!
