Bop and Roll is located at the outdoor Scottsdale 101 shopping Plaza. We wanted our standard order of katsu chicken bento box. It comes with gyoza, salad and sushi. The place felt different. I didn't see the usual owner nor any of her employees. So I go to order saying the entire order name. He replies Bop and then nothing. So I repeated my order and he says the same thing. What?? Then finally he said all we have are the bowls. I asked why and he said they were out of that order. Well why didn't he say that to begin with? I was somewhat annoyed by then. It must be a different owner. I can't say we will return. Staff certainly can make a difference in your feelings towards a restaurant. We decided to go across town for an order of katsu chicken. Shared parking lot.

Gosh, my feelings on this place are just as strong as 5 years ago! To simply put it: I adore this place, their customer service, and their food. I wish I worked in this area again because I honestly would be regular. If you haven't been here yet, you must! There's nothing like a good bento meal to get you through the day. Yesterday, on our way home, we picked up the bulgogi bento and salmon Bop with kimchi. Our car ride back to Mesa has never smelled so delicious! Funny enough, we had to hide in our kitchen eating because my little one is now exploring what he wants to eat, and my puppy could smell the salmon. As the great Joey Tribbiani once yelled, "JOEY DOESN'T SHARE FOOD!" Especially with food this delicious. Simply bento, really good kimchi, and really friendly owners!

Not usually a Ramen guy, but tried some regular Ramen to go and it seemed pretty good. The noodles and broth were separated and both tasted good. Also, the kansu chicken was a big portion for $12.99 and was crispy and white meat. Just needed some better or more veggies. Sauce was fine too.

Bop and Roll- simple yet delish! They offer a fusion of Korean and Japanese dishes. Their most popular and what I ordered is the Beef Bulgogi Bento, thinly sliced beef tenderloin marinated in a special bulgogi sauce, sautéed with onions and carrots, and served with rice, gyoza and some potato salad. All of the items were well seasoned and delish! The inside of the restaurant is small with around 6 tables. Can get filled up quickly on weekends. The 2 ladies working were very friendly, but did take a while to get the food because of how many Togo orders they were working on Will definitely return when in the area or watching a movie next door!

I got the beef bulgogi bento box and enjoyed it. I got it to go but from what I saw there is some indoor and outdoor seating at the restaurant. The whole crew at the restaurant were extremely nice and welcoming. The food has a nice balance of everything in a plate. Only thing I wish is the portions to be a just little bigger. Felt there just was not enough of everything except rice and could have put a little bit more food.

Hit the Spot This was our first visit to Bop + Roll. The restaurant is clean and the staff are welcoming and they even helped us pick out dishes based on our preferences. There's something for everyone at Bop + Roll, on this visit we ordered the chicken and steak Bop Bowls. Both entrees were delicious. The vegetables were perfevtly steamed, the meat was tender, flavorful, and juicy and the serving sizes are large, enough for two. I am looking forward to going back and trying other menu options If you're in the area you have to stop in and give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.

This is a Really great casual Korean restaurant, hidden away in my local strip mall near the movie theater and is about 5 minutes from my house which is a great bonus. I dropped in here out of curiosity. To see what all the hype was about and was quite shocked with the results. Great Korean food with really friendly staff and clean professionally run and convenient atmosphere. I had the beef Bulgogi and glass noodle dish. It was delicious, the beef melts in your mouth and their perfect mix of savory and salty flavors that make it so appetizing. It's a large plate of food so bring your appetite... I certainly will be returning to this place again and again. They do have sushi and some really great looking noodle dishes on the menu which I have not tried yet but that's just another excuse to return again.

The Mild Ramen looked like it would be good...nope. Broth was horrible & meat tasted bad.

Man!! So disappointing. I'm a Yelper and usually am steered to some cool places by reviews when deciding between options....for the first time I'm thinking what the heck??? The scores were relatively high so I assumed we would be guaranteed a yummy bowl of ramen- it's pretty basic!! Yikes!! This was so unpleasant tasting, kinda gamey or something...the broth was so unflavorful it was like watered down chicken broth. The service when we arrived & ordered were not the least bit welcoming- I immediately was getting a feeling like it was maybe a mistake coming in. The ramen looked okay, yet after just two bites- my husband and I just couldn't force ourselves to eat it. We left a huge full bowl of ramen at the table and not one service person there seemed to care or ask is there was a problem with our meal. I wanted to get our money back- Yes...it was That Bad. But, my husband didn't want to Hassle with the staff. We went somewhere else for a meal we could enjoy. I hate writing these kind of reviews- I know it's tough out there for businesses...but, there are too many good options out there! If you're not gonna bring your A game to your business...well, you get reviews that aren't positive. Sorry.

It is about 115 today in the Scottsdale phoenix area. They had a fan going because I don't think the air conditioning was working that well. I was not comfortable sitting in there at all. The sushi is all I wanted since this business came up for sushi. They did not have a big selection of sushi at all. Now I think that they didn't because they have no fresh fish options. But even the rolls I did get with eel, shrimp and imitation crab meat was meh. I would never come here again. If you want noodles there are a ton of noodle restaurants in the valley. If you want sushi there are a million better places than here. This is definitely a fast food. Order and go type of place. Not meant to sit and eat.

A great new find! I was in the area and a friend had recommended that I come and check out this new restaurant. The staff was so friendly upon arrival and the food was delicious. I had the bulgogi bop with veggies and my little brother had the katsu bop. Not only was the food tasty but also affordable I definitely will be coming back soon to try more. read more

I love Bop and Roll. Service goes above and beyond on every visit. Dishes are delicious and their homemade chili sauce is to die for! There are dishes to fill whatever your fancy. I'm so glad I found this place (thanks to other Yelpers)! The food is so delicious and the menu had just enough options making it a great place to go. I got the bulgolgi bento bop and my boyfriend had the chicken katsu. When the food came out we were pleasantly surprised about the amount and just how simple yet beautiful everything looked. The staff were very warm and attentive. When we packed up our food (large portions for what you pay) my boyfriend went to eat more of it because it was so tasty! I honestly would pay more for what I got. We're only in town a couple times a year, but we're already planning for when we come back to eat here again. read more

This korean place is a hidden gem. I'm from downtown Phoenix but had to drive up to give this place a try after my friends told me how great the food was for the price. With just $20 or less, you can get a pretty filling meal for 2. Comes with side dishes and a lot of combos that include entree, sushi, potstickers, and more! I really like their japchae & bulgogi. My friends really like the bibimbap bowl as well. Friendly staff/owner! 10/10 would recommend this place to everyone near and far from Phoenix! read more

I absolutely love this place and have been a fan since it opened. The staff is always extremely friendly and have been very Covid-19 safe, this past year. My favorite dish has been the KPop Bulgogi Bowl and a Korokke on the side but I've tried a few other items like the ramen and chicken teriyaki. Everything has been great, absolutely no complaints. I've heard about a bulgogi burrito that they serve in-house at lunch time only, too. read more

Wow, much worse than it used to be. The quality of the steak has gone downhill, and it was quite bland. Didn't even bother to include gochujang with our bland meal. Also, the fried spring roll isn't even good quality for a factory produced pre-made frozen one. 2 stars for nostalgia. Probably won't go be going back though. Threw the entire meal - basically uneaten - into the trash, and the wife wasn't far behind. She's usually not very picky at all. Yikes. read more

Fantastic service, food, and pricing. What more could you want? It is always the same lady who is so helpful in deciding which food to order! They give you little personal fans at each table. I haven't even eaten the food yet and already I'm in love with this place. The cashier was the sweetest little lady and was so helpful. The tables have fans on them in case you're hot, hand sanitizer, and everything is kept very clean. The menu is extensive so there are so many options from bento boxes to ramen. The food is fresh and I'm watching my chicken be grilled. It looks so good! The area by the fountain drinks also has soy sauce, teriyaki sauce and chopsticks! I'm definitely coming back because I just moved into the Camden and I could walk here! read more

Our office ordered online, prior to the lunch rush and would be picked up. The gal said 20-25 minutes. Reasonable. Got there 20 minutes after placing order. One hour later, had just been prepared. Why order ahead? At this place it made no difference and the food was mediocre at best. read more

Based on the stellar Yelp reviews, my family and I stopped in to Bop and Roll while visiting Scottsdale, and it definitely did not disappoint! The Kpop bulgogi was the bomb, as were the sushi rolls and ramen we devoured at warp speed. The Special 101 roll was big hit with our whole table. The owner was so attentive and just so happy we enjoyed her food. Her restaurant opened right when COVID hit, and I'm so happy the business is thriving! Wow! This place is more than delicious. I got the cheesey spicy ramen and the firecracker roll and they were amazing! The firecracker roll was huge and the ramen was a heaping portion and just the right amount of spice. Glad I live close because I will definitely be coming back!! read more

If anyone has had a frozen orange chicken meal,made by a company that is famous for their pies. A meal that can be purchased at your local grocery store...well, that is close to what we are talking about. It came out without any serving utensil. WTH? The Mongolian beef was more like pot roast and fatty. It certainly was not what I would consider spicy. Ambiance is VERY casual. There are regulars and they seem to be like family, so that is cool, once you have been accepted in the circle of trust. Maybe I am spoiled, because we tend to get very good Chinese in Las Vegas, due to the "Whales" coming in to gamble. Maybe this considered fabulous for Scottsdale, but certainly not what I was raised to expect. Now, it has been few weeks since my nephew and I tried this place. I wanted to let it breathe before posting "hot". To be fair. We were offered some dumplings to apologize for the wait. We declined, because I was afraid of what they may taste like. I asked for the check and the lady resisted saying that we hardly touched the food and she did not want to charge. This also was nice, but my ENTIRE working life has been in the hospitality/customer service/food service industry. They have bills to pay. They prepared the meal. They provided the service. They deserved to be paid. She apologized once again and said that they were using a new cook. I thought that I might be unusually over-critical however, my nephew, who resembles a trash compactor went away saying that there would be way he would ever get food from there. I wish this place well. Maybe there needs to be a better front of house/back of house dynamic. I can think of many things that would help.

We decided to order some edamame to start, which was okay. It wasn't super fresh, but overall it was decent. For our main course, we ordered the kaizen and the hafu sushi. We ordered the Obon ramen to split. Not long after ordering our food came out. The server was really attentive and placed our ramen in two separate bowls for us. As far as flavor goes, the Obon was extremely spicy. I'm a spicy girlie and I couldn't even eat it. I ate the noodles, but the broth was too much for me. I passed it on to my husband and to my surprise, he actually ate it (he doesn't like spice). I think his sore throat trumped the spice. The kaizen roll was really good. We actually loved that. The hafu, not so much. The cilantro flavor was a little too heavy on the roll itself. We would definitely give this place another try if ever in the area, but maybe order something different.

This Asian cuisine spot is a hidden gem! The owners are incredibly sweet, and the customer service is always warm and welcoming. The seating is limited, but it's very comfortable and cozy, making it a nice place to enjoy a meal. My only suggestion would be to improve the portion sizes, especially for the price.
