Bop and Roll is located at the outdoor Scottsdale 101 shopping Plaza. We wanted our standard order of katsu chicken bento box. It comes with gyoza, salad and sushi. The place felt different. I didn't see the usual owner nor any of her employees. So I go to order saying the entire order name. He replies Bop and then nothing. So I repeated my order and he says the same thing. What?? Then finally he said all we have are the bowls. I asked why and he said they were out of that order. Well why didn't he say that to begin with? I was somewhat annoyed by then. It must be a different owner. I can't say we will return. Staff certainly can make a difference in your feelings towards a restaurant. We decided to go across town for an order of katsu chicken. Shared parking lot.

Gosh, my feelings on this place are just as strong as 5 years ago! To simply put it: I adore this place, their customer service, and their food. I wish I worked in this area again because I honestly would be regular. If you haven't been here yet, you must! There's nothing like a good bento meal to get you through the day. Yesterday, on our way home, we picked up the bulgogi bento and salmon Bop with kimchi. Our car ride back to Mesa has never smelled so delicious! Funny enough, we had to hide in our kitchen eating because my little one is now exploring what he wants to eat, and my puppy could smell the salmon. As the great Joey Tribbiani once yelled, "JOEY DOESN'T SHARE FOOD!" Especially with food this delicious. Simply bento, really good kimchi, and really friendly owners!

Not usually a Ramen guy, but tried some regular Ramen to go and it seemed pretty good. The noodles and broth were separated and both tasted good. Also, the kansu chicken was a big portion for $12.99 and was crispy and white meat. Just needed some better or more veggies. Sauce was fine too.

Bop and Roll- simple yet delish! They offer a fusion of Korean and Japanese dishes. Their most popular and what I ordered is the Beef Bulgogi Bento, thinly sliced beef tenderloin marinated in a special bulgogi sauce, sautéed with onions and carrots, and served with rice, gyoza and some potato salad. All of the items were well seasoned and delish! The inside of the restaurant is small with around 6 tables. Can get filled up quickly on weekends. The 2 ladies working were very friendly, but did take a while to get the food because of how many Togo orders they were working on Will definitely return when in the area or watching a movie next door!

I got the beef bulgogi bento box and enjoyed it. I got it to go but from what I saw there is some indoor and outdoor seating at the restaurant. The whole crew at the restaurant were extremely nice and welcoming. The food has a nice balance of everything in a plate. Only thing I wish is the portions to be a just little bigger. Felt there just was not enough of everything except rice and could have put a little bit more food.

Hit the Spot This was our first visit to Bop + Roll. The restaurant is clean and the staff are welcoming and they even helped us pick out dishes based on our preferences. There's something for everyone at Bop + Roll, on this visit we ordered the chicken and steak Bop Bowls. Both entrees were delicious. The vegetables were perfevtly steamed, the meat was tender, flavorful, and juicy and the serving sizes are large, enough for two. I am looking forward to going back and trying other menu options If you're in the area you have to stop in and give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.

This is a Really great casual Korean restaurant, hidden away in my local strip mall near the movie theater and is about 5 minutes from my house which is a great bonus. I dropped in here out of curiosity. To see what all the hype was about and was quite shocked with the results. Great Korean food with really friendly staff and clean professionally run and convenient atmosphere. I had the beef Bulgogi and glass noodle dish. It was delicious, the beef melts in your mouth and their perfect mix of savory and salty flavors that make it so appetizing. It's a large plate of food so bring your appetite... I certainly will be returning to this place again and again. They do have sushi and some really great looking noodle dishes on the menu which I have not tried yet but that's just another excuse to return again.

The Mild Ramen looked like it would be good...nope. Broth was horrible & meat tasted bad.

Man!! So disappointing. I'm a Yelper and usually am steered to some cool places by reviews when deciding between options....for the first time I'm thinking what the heck??? The scores were relatively high so I assumed we would be guaranteed a yummy bowl of ramen- it's pretty basic!! Yikes!! This was so unpleasant tasting, kinda gamey or something...the broth was so unflavorful it was like watered down chicken broth. The service when we arrived & ordered were not the least bit welcoming- I immediately was getting a feeling like it was maybe a mistake coming in. The ramen looked okay, yet after just two bites- my husband and I just couldn't force ourselves to eat it. We left a huge full bowl of ramen at the table and not one service person there seemed to care or ask is there was a problem with our meal. I wanted to get our money back- Yes...it was That Bad. But, my husband didn't want to Hassle with the staff. We went somewhere else for a meal we could enjoy. I hate writing these kind of reviews- I know it's tough out there for businesses...but, there are too many good options out there! If you're not gonna bring your A game to your business...well, you get reviews that aren't positive. Sorry.

It is about 115 today in the Scottsdale phoenix area. They had a fan going because I don't think the air conditioning was working that well. I was not comfortable sitting in there at all. The sushi is all I wanted since this business came up for sushi. They did not have a big selection of sushi at all. Now I think that they didn't because they have no fresh fish options. But even the rolls I did get with eel, shrimp and imitation crab meat was meh. I would never come here again. If you want noodles there are a ton of noodle restaurants in the valley. If you want sushi there are a million better places than here. This is definitely a fast food. Order and go type of place. Not meant to sit and eat.

I really enjoy the food here, it is consistently hot and spicy (when desired). I've enjoyed every dish I've tried. However, the service is always slow. Today the line moved so slowly that I had to leave to eat somewhere else because lunch breaks aren't long... the last time I came my order took so long to prepare that I had to ask them to change it to a to-go order and ate it once I got back to work. Again, this is unfortunate because the food is pretty good. The owners should know that their service needs to speed up. read more

I really liked my bulgogi plate. It was delicious and the rice was perfectly cooked. The portions were generous so I saved some for later and they were just as good heated up later. I also was given teriyaki sauce and a spicy sauce as well and that did not disappoint either. I will be back to try other menu items! read more

This Korean/Japanese food restaurant is very unassuming from the outside. Looks like fast food but the food quality is like dine in. They sell a number of Asian style rice bowls and bentos, along with sushi rolls. We ordered two of their specialty tempura shrimp rolls, California roll, and two orders Korean wings. All of the food was delicious. The rolls were fresh, and the wings crispy and well flavored. The service too was very good with a nice lady, assuming the owner?, checking in with us regularly. The only problem was the price point. We paid about $60 which seemed steep - quality versus quantity for sure. read more

There are not enough words for how amazing this place is. The owner is so kind, gracious and accommodating. We order at least once a week here and the food is always fresh, tastes absolutely delicious and the wait is never too long. The quality is NEXT LEVEL! I was disappointed that delivery wasn't available to my area, as I feel that I am not that far from the restaurant. That said, the food was ready within the 15 minutes that it took me to get there. Staff was extremely friendly. Food was great. Between my husband and I, we had the crunchy shrimp roll, chicken udon and beef bulgogi. I liked the broth with the udon, nice flavor profile. They do take out during covid beautifully. You can order by phone and pick it up either in-store or if you ask they'll graciously run it to the car. The store is clean and they have extra masks and hand sanitizer on hand for those who choose to go in. Plus the food is so good and the prices are better than any other sushi in the area! read more

This is a gem for some really tasty, filling food. The prices are beyond reasonable for the amount of food you get which is great amongst the growing trend of food prices getting higher and higher lately. If you've never tried Korean glass noodles or "japchae" this is a must have! Everything I've ordered here is delicious, and the family that runs the place is always very kind and welcoming to me even when I place a last minute take out order when it's almost closing time. Such an amazing little gem!! This is the second visit and the service hands down is among the best you'll get. Always greeted with a smile, the Korean owners (two cute Korean ladies) take your order and prepare your food. We always get the chicken katsu bentobop, bibimbop bentopop, and bulgogi bentobop and IT IS SOO GOOD. You get the main entree, a California roll, two gyoza, and a side salad. On top of the fact that this is probably some of the best Korean food you'll get on this side of town, the portions are HUGE. Can you really argue with excellent service, great prices, huge portions, and delicious food? If you're craving delicious Korean (non KBBQ) food and don't want to venture all the way down to Mesa/Chandler I highly suggest checking them out!! Did I mention how sweet the owners are? Gone here a couple times for lunch since it's really close to the office. Food is great! Everything tastes fresh and the beef bento box I've gotten both times is fantastic. Additionally got a dragon roll on the side which was also really good. Bento box is ~$15 but has a good portion size, so i personally think it's good value. read more

The order came with some banchan; stir fried fish cakes, cucumber salad, and kimchi. The bulgogi itself was good but didn't have a very smoky flavor. It came with fried vegetable spring rolls, shumai and goon mandu. I didn't realize it came with the same appetizers we ordered but didn't mind as they were tasty. The only item we didn't care for were the spring rolls, which were mushy. The kimchi fried rice was ok, I'm not sure I'd get it again. I really enjoyed the goon mandu and would definitely order it again, it was crisp, the filling well seasoned and I especially loved the dipping sauce it came with. The shumai had an interesting spongy texture and nice shrimpy flavor which I enjoyed. Warning, the spicy sauce for the wings is not for the faint hearted! I was not prepared for that level of heat but if you enjoy really spicy food you'd like it. It was too much for me and my boyfriend who typically eats really spicy food. Thankfully, the sauce was on the side and the wings themselves were nice and crispy so we ate them without the sauce. The prices were reasonable and portions were large. I would definitely come back!

Each Korean restaurant seems to offer a bit of variety in their dishes, and sometimes a specialty dish that the others Korean restaurants do not. We started off with seafood pancake and it had shrimp, octopus and large green onion. I would have appreciated a bit more seafood, but it was cooked crispy on the outside and nice and thick. The dipping sauce was very good. We ordered beef bulgogi ssam-bap (serves 2) which traditionally can be eaten with a lettuce wrap, garlic and ssamjang (non-spicy red paste). It arrived with a diverse tray of greens, perilla leaves and carrots, samjang and garlic. The greens were enough to feed kennel of at least four rabbits. The beef was a fair amount however it was overcooked. It also arrived with a soup and ban chan of 8 items. These provide a variety of the traditional side dishes, or ban chan of Korean food. We also ordered a cold namyeong soup with a side of kalbi. The soup had daikon radish and is traditionally eaten in the summer. The kalbi had the tender soft meat that is its highlight. Overall, we had a great experience and while Korean food is traditionally a meal that runs about $20 a person, it has an aesthetic presentation, it is flavorful, especially with umami, and it is fairly healthy. I would definitely return again and it is a great place to enjoy the meal with other others.

The kimchi was fresh and vibrant, with a bright red color with plenty of spice and fermentation. The appetizers looked like a strong start to the meal. Ambiance: Large dining area with ample seating. I'm partial to booths and this establishment has plenty. They also have tables in case you're not up for the AYCE. This is a place to enjoy food with others, especially with a grill in between. Not a fan of the smoke off the grill? There are no drop down exhaust fans that block conversations, but they're built into the table. Is it smokeless in the dining area? All I can say is if I can describe what people are having four tables away from me, I think it's alright. Food: Variety and choice meats are important, and they are both above sufficient for the two hours you get to dine AYCE. Whether you're an adventurous eater or not, there is something for everyone. I do stress it is a grilled food restaurant, so try not to expect much of some items like their bibimbap. Also, AYCE does not include drinks unless it's water. Service: We enjoyed every server we've had, but three stood out. Let's begin with the two who were especially unforgettable for good reasons. Emilee and Kelvin, thank you for your excellent service. Emilee's smile and manner made us feel welcomed and comfortable. As many tables as we saw her cater to, she never let us feel ignored. Kelvin is also a great team player. Just as knowledgeable of the menu as Emilee, he also jumped in to help so that none of the tables were left waiting. Both served us very well, and left us supremely impressed. When there is a time limit, this is absolutely important. No customer wants to feel like they paid too much to receive so little and wait for so long, regardless if it's AYCE. Which brings us to Sue. My husband remembers Sue as the server who refused to take our order after an hour, but most of her service time spent changing the grill (which is bizarre considering she didn't take many orders from us; more on that later). We sat at one of her eight booths at 11:34 am, and she abandoned us after taking two orders and changing our grill multiple times. Maybe Sue expected us to order all the items we wanted, stack all those orders on top of each other for the first hour, then the second hour we should just eat and not bother her anymore. I understand she didn't have a helpful team member, making service slow. I'm sure she knew her limits and so was quick to serve fillers like corn cheese and gyeran jjim. Another notable fact is our receipt showed we ordered multiples of items, but we NEVER recieved as many plates as she entered (because she didn't come to our table that many times to allow us to order). I am sorely disappointed she literally abandoned us for 30 minutes when we wanted to make our last order. When she finally came back to us at 1 pm, about 1.5 hours after being seated, she told us we've been seated longer than two hours and she can't serve us anymore. How did we pass the two hour limit when the restaurant opens at 11:30 am and she stopped serving us at 12:40 pm. If she had not abandoned our table and took our last order at 12:40 pm, we would have finished and left before the two hour time limit. Overall: 3.5 stars but rounding up because of other well-mannered representatives like Emilee's sister. 5 stars for all the times we visited and were not served by Sue. 2.5 star experience being served by Sue. Please don't enter orders that were not delivered; that seems fraudulent. Please be transparent with your customers when it comes to AYCE rules and your capability.

This Asian cuisine spot is a hidden gem! The owners are incredibly sweet, and the customer service is always warm and welcoming. The seating is limited, but it's very comfortable and cozy, making it a nice place to enjoy a meal. My only suggestion would be to improve the portion sizes, especially for the price.
