    Margarita grande

Stopped in during off-peak hours for a late lunch and had a great, well-priced meal. I loved the blackened broccoli quesadillas! What a fantastic vegetarian option. My husband got the Mexican burger and enjoyed it. Shoestring fries were fine (not our favorite style o' fries). I also got a couple of house margaritas that were actually good! Not too strong (but strong enough) and not too sweet. Staff was courteous and attentive. Handicapped parking was available right at the entrance.

I've been coming to Border Cafe for years and it's always been one of my favorite spots, which is why tonight was so disappointing. Several things with the food were clearly off: * The jambalaya rice was burnt and crunchy. * The burrito chicken was extremely dry. * The chips and salsa were over-salted, and when we asked for unsalted chips, the replacement batch was burnt. * The tomatoes on the chicken were mushy, not fresh and firm like they usually are. * The fish tasted frozen, which is unusual for what Border Cafe normally serves. The only bright spot was our waitress, who was incredibly sweet and helpful. We actually felt bad bringing up the issues because she was doing everything she could. It honestly felt like the kitchen quality has slipped, which is surprising for a place that used to be so consistent. I hope management looks into this because Border Cafe has always been a great restaurant, and it would be nice to see the food quality return to what it used to be.

The food is absolutely amazing here and I LOVE ()  the jambalaya (jum-ba-li-ya) here! It's the best and I also really love their fajitas and corn chips!!! The service is bizarre! The waitress was so nice We had a great experience! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place looked so festive and well taken care of on the inside and out. It is very big and decorated, too! They have a great bed of plants that are well trimmed and up to date on the outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had a great experience here and having been coming here for 11 years. NEVER let me down. Great every time

The food is amazing. Authentic mexican food at a great price. [[HIGHLIGHT]]No reservations but the place is enormous with ton of tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The chicken fajitas were perfect. The chicken had a great char while still being juicy and tender. The onions and peppers were cooked through instead of being crunchy and raw. The service was busy but our server was very helpful and friendly. The food came out in maybe 10 minutes it was crazy food. Come here for some great mexican cuisine.

Started off loving the chips and salsa and also loved my shrimp tacos. The chipotle aioli with the tacos was truly "chef's kiss." The margaritas were good, but a bit watered down and on the pricier side. Service was decent. Being someone who lived in Texas, the country music and Texas decor took me right back, especially after visiting the week before. They allowed my friends and I to chat for hours - a gesture we truly appreciated. All in all, a delightful spot for gathering with friends.

    Blackened chicken fajitas, blackened broccoli

I went to culinary school. First time going to this location. Would not return. The chips served were not warm like they usually are. The blackened chicken fajitas was around half of the portion you get from other locations (including the onions and peppers). And the bottom was burnt, not blackened. The broccoli was also half burnt and barely warm, the serving dish wasn't warm at all. Over on the left you can see a very sad amount of limp lettuce and a tiny scoop of guac. Our waters were also not refilled at all (the dining room was maybe 60% full so not crazy busy). Go to Saugus. Or better yet, bring back the Harvard square location.

Predictable and passable enchiladas at an average price point. This is an acceptable location for a casual meal and is very kid friendly.

Great fajita Chicken salad. Great atmosphere. It took a little bit to get service at the bar but wasn't too long of a wait.

HOPEFULLY TONIGHT WAS A GOOD SIGN!! Ya know post covid…read moreBorder really took a step back, they didn't do togo orders, they completely cut back their menu and hours (stopped doing lunch) and jacked up their prices (which I mostly get). I've been doing Border for DECADES. Literally. When my 20 year old was born on our way home from the hospital... yup.. we stopped at Border with the 3 day old.... My wife and I use to LOVE THIS PLACE. I remember when they had the kids menu for $2.98. A line out the door every night. We had four kids and being able to go out to dinner with the kids was awesome. Four kids could eat for less than $15. Ok. Back on point here... I think BORDER IS BACK! Everything we had tonight was delicious. The once small menu now has a TON of great new items. Also, they're do togo now! If ya haven't been in a while I understand. Maybe give Border a chance again. It's worth it now. It's not the ridiculously great deal it once was but it's still affordable. You get great table service, friendly staff and a good meal for about the same price as going to Chipotle. Stop ordering in and dine out. Hope you're experience was a good as ours. Keep it up Border!!

As a Tufts student, I never ate here, not even once, but I remembered that it was a popular option for dining out and delivery to campus. So, 27+ years later, I decided to finally check this place out! We did tell the server that my daughter doesn't like it too spicy, and our waiter made some alternative suggestions which we followed. We ordered the super nachos with the beef chili and green chilies on the side. While the nachos were super cheesy, there were no noticeable greens. There was neither shredded lettuce nor scallions which I felt were missing in the bites. While tasty, I don't think I'd order those again. Husband got the steak fajitas which he felt was overcooked. My daughter got a soft beef taco from the kid's menu and said it tasted just like the meal I make at home! Upon suggestion from our waiter, I ordered the enchiladas sampler and was very satisfied with my meal. It came with a chicken, a beef, and a cheese enchilada. The chicken was quite flavorful and the cheesy one was delightful, even the following day as I took home the leftovers. The refried beans were noticeably seasoned in a good way. My plate which also included Mexican rice, lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream was well balanced. Our server also brought over a caddy of six different hot sauces which wasn't needed at all. The food had enough flavor on its own. My frozen pina colada tasted more boozy than I would like, but I did finish it. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and would return to get the enchiladas.

I came here today for lunch with a friend because sadly this place is closing tomorrow and we wanted to enjoy one last visit for nostalgia's sake. Of course we shared guacamole and chips. They have a special of a takate beer and a shot of house tequila for $12. Hey, you know exactly what you're getting with that.
