Came here spontaneously with a group of friends while we were visiting Orlando, and it was one of the best spontaneous decisions I've made! The food here is surprisingly really good. I got 2 steak tacos, and it came with a massive plate of rice and refried beans. The portions here are so big and you definitely get your money's worth. Also, the refried beans here are SO GOOD. Don't know what they put in them but they were so addicting and I'm not normally a fan of beans. The tacos and rice were also delicious. Super flavorful and fresh tasting. The decor inside feels like a cute mom and pop taqueria. Colorful decor and seating. We didn't have to wait at all for a table for 5 either! Super friendly workers and quick service as well. We ordered from Border Grill while on vacay near Universal because they're right across the street from where we stayed, so I ordered to go. Seemed OK based on what I read online, but once I got in the dining room, they said they didn't have lengua and I didn't see prices posted for what I ordered (I asked for a chicken, avocado & cheese burrito, nothing crazy). Overall, is was EXPENSIVE, over $50 + tip, for a burrito, two 3 taco plates, and 3 fish tacos. I thought they came as combos with rice & beans based on the price, but I didn't get a receipt! The fish tacos were nasty! Seemed like soggy tilapia with shredded lettuce?!?! The chicken in the burrito and tacos was SUPER SPICY and burned, too (see pic) and worst of all, 3 of the 4 of us had tummy trouble the next morning. Yummy! This place was delicious! Tucked into the end of an unassuming strip mall, this place looks like a super basic, run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant. But, the sauce on the Green Burrito was lick -the-plate good. We also really enjoyed the flavor of the Spanish rice. My fish tacos were solid with a big piece of avocado on each taco. Nothing extraordinary, but tasty. The horchata was in the same category - it was fine, but nothing special. My favorite Mexican place in the Orlando area. The California burrito is a must try with flavorful carne asada, French fries, guacamole, etc and I find the portion large enough for two! If you use door dash, it sometimes disappears from the menu. The tacos Mexicanos are the authentic corn tortillas, your pick of meat, and onions and cilantro. I love the Al pastor and the chorizo. The rice and beans are also fantastic here. If you are planning to dine in, it's more of a hole in the wall with just a few tables so can fill up. This is a small place in a strip mall with good food. The chairs are uncomfortable as hell but luckily the food makes up for it. I wish the chips and salsa were complimentary but I really like chips and salsa so here we are. You order at the counter (at lunch time) and they bring the food when it's ready. The place got super busy but the wait for the food wasn't long. This is just good old basic Mexican food like your abuela would make. I am very impressed with how far Border Grill Fresh Mex has come within the past 7 years that I have lived in this area. It has always had a good reputation for authentic Mexican food, but the restaurant has become much more inviting and has ample seating now whereas it was originally more of a grab and go situation. This is plastic chairs and metal trays. This could be in Tijuana. Burritos were fantastic. Salsa was great. Be sure to ask for the green and red spicy salsas. We ordered a California burrito, chicken quesadilla, and Flautas with chips and salsa. The food was great, fresh, with this very spicy green chili sauce included. Guacamole and pico were both very good. Flautas were crispy. Salsa was average/typical, but the chips were freshly fried. For us, it lived up to the current 4.6 Yelp rating. Visiting in town and stumbled across this little gem. Looks like a hole in the wall because it's in an outdated strip mall but the inside was vibrant and the people were very nice. There are a handful of tables inside and two small tables outdoors. We ordered the steak and chicken fajitas which comes with all the fixing: rice, beans, guacamole, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese and tortillas. We cane really hungry and found that one serving is plenty big and we we actually had some leftover! The refried beans were bursting with flavor. I eat Mexican food at least once a week and I've never had beans like this. Very tasty and the chicken and steak were cooked to perfection and were not spicy at all. I'll be honest...First impression was ok. We were asked if we wanted our food "for here" or "to go", we said "to go" but they opened our drinks like we were eating there. They just put them in a cup to fix it, which made our drinks watery. The cashier was friendly, made recommendations for food and drinks. The restaurant has several leaks, it's very quiet (no Mexican music), had cool wall decorations but it did not feel like your typical authentic Mexican restaurant. Taking a closer look we noticed that it wasn't very clean either. We sat in one of their tables and it was sticky!! Our menu literally glued to it. It feels crowded even though it wasn't, the place is quite small. We got two orders of 2 Taco Supreme. Their tacos did not feel supreme at all. It was lacking all the top ingredients that I always get when I order supreme/Mexican food. No cilantro? No pico de gallo? The rice has no flavor. The pastor meat was delicious!
