Not gonna lie, this place definitely hit the spot for authentic Korean food! We had gotten the four meats platter and they even cook the meat in front of you perfectly! The marinade was very flavorful and not sweet, just the way I like it! We also got the kimchi pancake, which was absolutely HUGE and can feed up to 5 people. The glass noodles were pretty good as well and they didn't skimp on the meat AT ALL. The tofu soup is more on the spicy side as well, so I would take note of that in case your spice level is not up to par just yet! I also love the salty sauce they provide for you and the sides were just divine. The only thing I would say, is that the corn cheese was portioned quite small. We had a great experience with food and service until the manager accosted me about not leaving tip on the bill. She said tip is not included you know. I had already cash tipped the waiter 25%. The right way was to make darn sure no tip had been left then ask something like "was anything not to your satisfaction?" Tipping is neither a right nor law as far as I am concerned and these restaurants are getting out of hand with this culture of entitlement. Everything inside was very modern and intimate at the table. Meats were cooked on the grill by our server, allowing us to enjoy every experience fully with our guests. Very good food and atmosphere. I am a gen kbbq fan and I think those two places are not really comparable. The quality of meat here is better than possibly any kbbq I've been to. They do cook your food here at the table side but they leave the heat on for you so if you want to cook something longer than what they did (I prefer a little darker color on my pork than what the guy cooked) then that's a possibility. The thing I didn't really care for was the appetizers. They were a little pricey and weren't all that great to me. I got the gamba shrimp and it was just meh. Ever since my experience at Kang ho dong baek jong in LA, I've been comparing every Houston restaurant to this place and no place has been comparable. I would come to Bori for the experience but not necessarily the food. Don't get me wrong; the food is great. It's just that the first-time experience is THAT memorable. Picture this: you have a Korean restaurant that is a little hidden off to the side. You walk in and inside you have this elegant and modern interior. To your right is the restaurant where people are happily feasting on high quality meats that are cooked in front of them by their servers. To your left is a spacious art gallery that no one would ever expect to be attached to a restaurant. Then in the back, you have a wonderful garden complete with stone lanterns and other pieces of art. I came with my parents, and I know they particularly enjoyed taking family pictures in this garden. As for the food itself, it was good! My parents and I came in for lunch and shared the bori beef cuts (beef belly + ribeye + seasoned short rib + soybean stew + corn cheese + steamed egg for $85). I wouldn't say anything particularly stood out (the meats were certainly delicious), but I wouldn't say anything disappointed either. It's an expensive meal for three people (and I don't think it'd be enough food for four people), but I had a good time at Bori. BORI is an experience. While it might not be for everyone, if you are a fan of Korean barbecue, I can nearly promise you will not be disappointed. I have been a number of times, but the Butchers Feast with a small group is absolutely the best way to try a little bit of everything. The sides are all unlimited, so if you're somehow left hungry, you can always fill up on delicious options like the creamed corn, salads, and egg soufflé. All the meats are delicious in their own ways, but the marinated pork belly is simply phenomenal, and the filet is exemplary but that's probably no shock. All and all, if you're looking for a kbbq experience that's a little more high class and where you don't have to do all the work, this is an excellent choice. I've been to many Korean BBQ spots and this is easily one of the most memorable I've been to. The ambiance is a bit more on the modern side, yet remains traditional. The food is more upscale where you find cuts of beef that are dry-aged, from wagyu, and more. I am a steak enjoyer, so I was really intrigued about this Korean-themed steakhouse as a first-timer that heard great feedback from friends and family. Initial impression is that the front service was great. They gave us an alternative to sit at the patio since the grill was booked. The real problem came when we had our table server and the actual food. The patio was limited to half of the options on the menu, which we were not told about before sitting down. The NY strip and ribeye roll were tender but BLAND. The kimchi soup was nearly forgotten until we reminded the server about it. The soup also tastes extremely sour, more like tomato soup (even though I have had kimchi stew at many other places before). Last but not least, the lemon blueberry cake was missing a piece on top when it came out. It tastes quite artificial like your $3 pre-packaged cake. All in all, would not go back to Bori again. The beef cuts we got were beef belly and we chose NY strip and seasoned short rib! It came with a decent amount of banchan and regular AND soybean kimchi, and we chose kimchi stew as our stew, also came with corn cheese and egg soufflé. The banchan was pretty good but we didn't eat all of it! We thought all of this was better value than another upscale Korean steakhouse we've been to, and we left feeling so full! I love coming here for Korean BBQ. Something to point out is that at this place, you don't cook the meat yourself. Instead, the servers actually come by your table, and cook everything for you. To me, this is great because I think the servers know how to cook the each kind of meat, they know how to adjust the flames and they know when to change the grill. I also love how many side dishes come with the meat platters. You have the option between marinated and seasoned meats. You get the classic Korean small side dishes, two salads, a platter or lettuce wraps, cheese corn, steamed egg, a soup and some rice. The other things on the menu are great too as far as I can tell. I got their dolsot bibimbap and it was delicious and huge. Be sure to also check out their little garden outside and their art gallery. Can't believe it's taken two years for us to finally getting around to going in person to Bori. And guess what? It. Is. Legit. Didn't know I could like it any more than I already did. I thought the takeout was good, but it doesn't get any better than in person! Beautiful establishment - nice open dining area with thoughtful design (down to the cool vent systems they install above each table to pull up the smoke from cooking. I love that they even have an art gallery, private dining areas, outdoor patio, and a little garden area to walk around. Then the food. We've gone here for happy hour probably 3-4 times now in the past couple months and just can't get enough. We usually get the Bori Beef Cuts with beef belly, ribeye and marinated short rib - and either get the small if it's just 2 adults or large portion if 3-4 adults. Comes with delicious sides like steamed egg, cheese corn, a soup (was able to get another steamed egg in place since soup isn't really our thing), rice, and soooo many of the little sides. I like that they change the little sides out each time we go for variety - like potato salad, kimchi, bean sprouts, pickled jalapenos, pickled radish, etc. Bonus is that if you like one of these little dishes, you can always request for more! We also always get the japchae noodles and an order of the seafood pancake. Definitely our go to dishes to round out the meal. They do celebrate special occasions - we took a friend there recently for his birthday and they had this scrumptious dessert - it was like caramel filled hot cakes with strawberry ice cream on top. The dish was practically licked clean! I find this to be a great place to take babies and kids. Food comes out quick. They have a changing table in the handicap stall in the women's bathroom.
