I wanted to like Born & Bred after going to Aftermath in Phoenix, but I was underwhelmed. We came here for HH and were not very impressed. The chicken wings had nice flavor, but are not as crispy as I would have liked them to be. My husband ordered the burger, which was extremely disappointing. I had heard rave reviews about Aftermath's burger, so I expected this burger to be amazing. It tasted really weird - it tasted charred but looked like a smash burger. It's difficult to describe, but we did not like it. The fries were okay but not great. The oysters were good and I liked the flavor and bread that accompanied it. Other than that and our drinks (no specialty cocktails included for HH), we were not impressed by their HH. We would like to try their breakfast based on our friend's experience, but we will not go back for happy hour. There's many better options in DT Chandler with delicious cocktails and food for HH. read more

First time checking this place out and it def did not disappoint. Very nice ambiance. Good decor and great service. We ordered the brussel sprouts (not pictured) to start and while we were chatting and enjoying our drinks the waitress had come out and apologized that they were taking a bit longer to come out and that they would be taken off of our bill. Wow amazing service. We didn't even really notice they were taking longer. The Brussel sprouts were tasty and we enjoyed them. Got the burger and the rigatoni as our meals. Both were equally great. The burger was really really good. The smashed patty was done right. Maybe I was just in the mood but one of the better burgers I have had. We came here for a date night as we had never been. When we pulled up, it was in the corner and it was very easy to find. I really appreciated this. We ordered drinks and my husband's was the "The New Fashion", their take on an old fashion. It had simple ingredients and was by far the tastiest drink of the night. Definitely recommend. My husband ordered the Braised Short Rib with butternut squash puree and ancho chile sauce. It was excellent. I ordered the Chicken Madeira. It had mashed potatoes with gravy and. Asparagus. This is not a dish I would typically order but it was late and I didn't want anything crazy. But boy oh boy, it was fabulous. Highly recommend either of these dishes!! Definitely going back soon. To celebrate New Years, we went to downtown Chandler to enjoy some food at Born & Bred. This place was amazing down to every detail. First of all even though it was New Years, the parking was good and we had our reservation for one of the outdoor seats. (walk ins are also accepted too but we wanted to make 100% sure that it would be available for us) When we ordered, we had an amazing waiter who was very professional and nice. We ordered the truffle fries as an appetizer, my girlfriend got the Rigatoni Ala Vodka, I got the Aftermath Burger(originally it comes with two patties but you can opt to have 1 instead, you can also switch the velveeta cheese with Munster cheese which is the only other option), along with two Lady Luck cocktails, and an Affogato at the end. There were heaters outside and watching all the lights and decorations everywhere made this view so lovely and beautiful. We got our drinks and truffle fries immediately. The drink was very strong and the truffle fries were so delicious, you definitely notice the quality when you bite into these crispy savory appetizers. My girlfriend let me try some of the pasta and it was one of the best pasta dishes I've ever tried in my life. I ate my burger and it was a good burger, definitely not the best burger I had but it's definitely up there. Add it with a side of truffle fries and the Lady Luck shot and you have yourself an amazing time. With a great view, a heater, delicious foods, and amazing service. Stopped by for a breakfast brunch for my sisters birthday. I got the short rib chilaquiles and one pancake.. both so good!!! Only thing that threw us off was that the chilaquiles were tostadas? We had to cut it ourselves.. definitely not fun to do on a cute brunch date and you've had some mimosas lol but they did bring out a cute birthday cake for her to make a wish later on. We very much enjoyed this place! The ambiance is more chill than I originally imagined when looking at the menu- rock music and sort of cool, casual isn't quite the right word but definitely not ~fancy~. We started with the oysters and they were huge! The ponzu on top is really delicious. I ordered the scallops and risotto- cooked perfectly! It was super yummy and more than enough food. I was full by digging into the third scallop but wanted to eat it all since it was cooked to perfection. The pickled gave a nice little burst of acid. There were too many of them in the risotto imo, but delicious nonetheless. My husband got the swordfish and it was also amazing - the polenta situation it comes with was really good with the green chile! Service was great- Kyle was on top of it! The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is I'm still thrown off by the menu not matching the fun/cool atmosphere. But we enjoyed ourselves! Honestly, I'd prolly rate it a 3.5/5, but I'll round up for our awesome waitress. Our overall experience summed up was "good, not great". I think for the prices of the dishes, everything was a little lackluster. Our starter was the "Aftermac", which was $16 for mayyybe a cup and a half of Mac. Came out warm, but not hot, and was immediately followed by our meal. Decent taste, but again, not sure it's worth the price. Then we split the Short Rib and Jalapeño Bacon Burger. Again, food came out warm, but not hot. Short Rib was cooked perfectly, and we're still deciding if pairing it with pickled mirepoix was a win or not. Burgers were smash burger style, which we love, but we're overcooked. Which meant they just crumbled with every bite. Bacon was cut into thick bits, but I think cooked with the jalapeño jam, which hid the salty flavor entirely. Jam had great flavor, but no spice, which I always kind of hope for with a jalapeño bacon burger. Service was great, I loved the location and the interior. Relaxing, easy to have conversation in. We did overhear the table next to us have several issues with food, handled graciously by both parties. But the server mentioned the head chef was MIA, and it left us wondering if that was the reason for the quality issues. So to sum up, good but not great. read more

I'm so happy this little gem opened up in the neighborhood. The menu is on the smaller side but has a nice variety. It has been open for 5 weeks and we hope to make this a regular spot since it is walkable from our neighborhood. We were greeted by the host who was pleasant and decided to dine at the bar. Sal the bartender was very knowledgeable about the food, friendly and attentive. Beverages were good. It was nice to have a Cabernet served at the proper temperature versus coming straight from a cold wine fridge. We started with the burrata which was not only delicious but a beautiful plate. Enjoyed the pork bolognese which was very tasty and the pasta was cooked al dente which is the way we like it. Kudos to chef for making pasta properly. The pepperoni pizza could use some work. Outside crust was crispy but the rest was soggy. The flavor was almost there. We prefer a more crispy wood-fired pizza. Give this place a try! read more

Unfortunately this place is a huge disappointment. Attempted to give this place a second try only to be even more disappointed. First time we went the chilaquiles entree tasted off. The chips used had a very stale weird taste and the shredded meat on the dish was cold. Manager wanted to make the moment right by giving us a gift card to cover another dish on a next visit. Decided today to give it a try today and were told we'd have to wait a few minutes for inside seating. Completely fine with us. We get seated then wait 15 minutes to still not be served water or spoken to by a waitress. We then see a table next to us sit down and shortly thereafter are brought water. Decided to let the manager know it was completely unacceptable that we had been sitting their for so long to not even be approached . Manager apologized saying they are short staffed and mentioned they would personally take care of our table yet we decided to leave considering that doesn't solve anything plus we'd have to wait for other orders(People who showed up and sat at least 10 minutes after us) to be placed and brought out considering waitresses had already started engaging with them. read more

Came here for a birthday brunch and was pleasantly surprised! I was a little hesitant to choose this place for brunch because the menu is limited and it didn't have your typical breakfast/brunch items. But everything our party chose was delicious! I personally got the Breakfast Poutine and added short rib (highly recommend because the short rib is great). Also, my aunts had asked if they'd be able to do their bread pudding dessert even though it was brunch. The waitress said it's typically only served during dinner, but they made an exception since we had two birthdays at the table. The atmosphere is nice. Right in downtown. The service was good. I had to wave down service when needed. The food was not the best but it was good. I ordered the chilaquiles and those were really just nachos. No sauce on the chips. I asked for more sauce they brought me sour cream and I said no the red sauce the food was dry. Then I got salsa. I gave up and when I got the check they charged me $2.00 extra for sauce I didn't ask for. The breakfast sandwich was good, the potatoes were ok. The pancake was big and the French toast was good but pricey for what you got. Overall it is solid but do not order Mexican food at a place like this. We watched our waiter get down on his knees and spend way too long talking to a table of friends about why he quit his last job. He finally took our main order. No drinks or appetizer had arrived yet. It's now been 20 minutes. Drinks finally come an at 35 minutes I had to wave him down. Very shortly after our main meal came and he had not come and checked on us. You would think with not getting the fries he would have came back more quickly. Very poor service. Salads were sad. Lettuce was soggy and the AM burger was basically bread. Doubtful we return. The live guitarist was the only enjoyable part of the experience. read more

It was my first time visiting born & bred on a Friday night. We ate outside, it was cute and had a spacious patio. However, there were some obvious design flaws in their patio furniture. Food was good, better than most places DT Chandler. We shared a salad (highlight of the meal), the rigatoni was overcooked and imo not worth $20+. My boyfriend got the burger, which came with glowing reviews and he loved it. Wine menu was decent, prices were good. Service was also good; we were missing an item, which no biggie & the server was quick to offer a solution/ take it off the bill. We really enjoyed this place! It was available last minute on OpenTable and so we took a chance and were so pleased! The service was great. Our waitress was so helpful with recommendations and our food was delicious. The brussels sprouts were delicious! The only negative thing I would say is they were a tad too acidic but I would 100% order them again. My husband ordered their burger and it was amazing! Definitely one of the best burgers I've had. The left overs were not as good though! I got the steak with chimichurri and it was cooked medium rare and it was amazing. It came with French fries and they were delicious but I would have preferred a different option for the side. We left there with our pallets seriously so satisfied and our stomachs so full! I'm so sad because I really wanted to like this place. :( I had heard so much about the Chicken Ceaser Wrap and was excited to try it. I was greeted very courteously by the staff and sat down at the bar. I decided to order it to go as I wasn't sure I would have enough time to eat before my next Appt. Staff was very friendly and prompt. The food also came out super quick so I decided to take a few bites before heading out. The first thing I noticed is the wrap did not have the Parmesan shavings on top. I took a bite and was so disappointed. The chicken was dry, over cooked and burnt around the edges. I'm not sure what was in the sauce but it tasted bitter and sour. Do you put horseradish in the sauce? That bitter, burnt and sour taste from the capers was a terrible combination. Bummed that I spent $20 bucks on this meal and hated it. Was also surprised to see how small the wrap was for the price. This was both our 1st visit to this restaurant & both felt the lunch menu was small - only a few options. Was looking for a brunch place in the area and came across Born and Bred in downtown Chandler. Ample free parking in the garage, or in the nearby lot if you're able to snag a spot. Wasn't sure how busy it would be, so I made a reservation through Open Table. When we arrived, we got seated right away. We all got different entrees, like a breakfast bowl, burger, burrito, etc, and we all enjoyed it! We also did mimosas with different types of juices - strawberry, pineapple, orange, and peach. The restaurant never got packed during our time there, but there were times when they got a little busy and it took a little longer, and then it got a bit better. Would love to come back! read more

We had a party of 4 with a reservation at 6:45. It was 7:15 before someone came over to our table to even get our drink order, 10 minutes after I had to go up to the host and ask if anyone was serving our table. By 8:15pm we still did not have our food yet. Food itself was good, don't know if it was worth the hour and a half wait though. At the end, our server dropped off our checks with no pen to sign. No one came by our table for at least another 10 minutes, and we had to ask the busboy if we could have a pen. I also paid with cash, my total being $34, so I put down 2 $20 bills. When she gave me my receipt back, she had given me $40 back just broken down in smaller bills. Eventually we asked a manager what was going on and why she just gave me my money back, and the manager laughed and said she was just breaking it up for me to pay? Not really sure why I would need $40 broken up when my change was only $6. Overall experience was not great. read more

Great ambience when the weather is nice like this. Outdoor seating available. Basic brunch condiments like ketchup, Tabasco, salt and pepper weren't readily available. The items we ordered were great protein ratios, just not anything spectacular tasting. The locomoco dish had plain beef patties with chorizo mixed in under what seemed to be biscuit gravy. I added ketchup and Tabasco to give it some flavor. The frites or fries are super crunchy. I'd ask for that specifically over the flavorless potatoes that come with some entrees. The first time my wife and I came here, the service was not good. Our waiter was definitely being nice to other guests around us and it was very obvious. The food was okay so it didn't make the dining experience any better. Today, we wanted to give it another try for lunch and we got there at 2:12pm and the host, very rudely told us they were done serving food until 3pm. We went in with zero expectations not being familiar with the brand, but everything we had was delicious and reasonably priced. We ordered items like the burrata appetizer, award winning burger, and pretzel bread pudding, just to name a few. And WOW, that was by far the best burger I've ever had! The menu is small, with a unique take on brunch classics. We had the breakfast sandwich and it was HUGE! The Everything Croissant was so good and the side potatoes were tasty and crunchy. We also had the Short Rib Chilaquiles, the short rib was so tender and flavorful. The short rib and guajillo jus was fantastic! Their coffee was just okay.
