Nice place in the heart of downtown Chandler AZ. I did like this place, but only really have one complaint. I'll start with that. The vodka pasta was just a pasta dish, but you had an option to add on shrimp, chicken, etc. The pasta without the shrimp was $24 and the shrimp was an extra $12 on top. They gave 3 pieces of shrimp for $12. That doesn't sit well to me. That's a $36 dish with 3 pieces of shrimp. The other dish was swordfish which I liked. The burrata was a good appetizer. Just think about it..... this place could have gotten 5 stars. Maybe they should review their practices. read more

As a Chandler native, I can confidently say Born & Bred is one of the best dining spots in Chandler. We went in with zero expectations not being familiar with the brand, but everything we had was delicious and reasonably priced. We ordered items like the burrata appetizer, award winning burger, and pretzel bread pudding, just to name a few. And WOW, that was by far the best burger I've ever had! Always ready to try a new place, we three longtime girlfriends headed to downtown Chandler. The hostess was very accommodating as we were running late for our 5pm reservation. No worries, we got right in. Pleasant server who recommended her favorite apps and entrees. (Not pictured was our Brussel sprouts). All three of us ordered the same thing, though I wish we had deviated a bit so we could try other menu items. I was hungry, so I ate everything. I was not overly impressed with my salad. Weird, thick-ish dressing. Avocado? Not my fave & I'm a Caesar salad lover. For me, burger was good. But, for $22 the meat patty was skimpy. Bun was nice and soft. The meat to bun ratio was off putting. Maybe if I had ordered the 2 patty burger, the ratio would have been better. My water glass was NEVER empty. Great service. Server /bussers were very helpful, very pleasant. One of the servers found out we were celebrating a birthday so the dessert was complimentary. We opted for the bread pudding. It was a tad dry, but the melted Gelato helped. As the evening progressed, the place filled up quickly. With the crowd, the volume increased. Loved the atmosphere, service, and food. I was there with a group. It was interesting to look around and literally everyone's plate was clean! That's how good it was! We had a really positive experience due to our bartenders being wonderful but the Aftermath Burger was a very sad experience. Both my boyfriend and I order this burger. The cheese tasted so artificial. I ended up asking our server if the cheese was Kraft single slices and she let us know that it was Velveeta cheese. Ugh... So overpowering. Three stars for the service and atmosphere. We came early on a weeknight and asked or a table for two. Place was 80% empty but they said they were 'fully reserved' and of course still more than half empty when we left but I get some places roll like this so we squeezed in at the bar. Bar service was attentive and friendly throughout. Pretty decent happy hour specials. Really wanted to like the food but unfortunately went 0-3 on what we ordered. Chicken wings were truly terrible. Rubbery skin and gross texture with little flavor. Left uneaten and to be fair they did remove from bill. 'Award winning' burger was ok. Velveeta cheese on a nice onion bun will make anything taste pretty good but the meat was two thin patties that felt overcooked and lacked flavor. Steak frites was not good. Felt like a poor cut of meat honestly for $50. Not that big, chewy and has a small drizzle of chimichurri. Fried were salty to point of being inedible. The food was unacceptably bad., cesar salad- nothing exciting, fries- crispy and flavorful (only decent thing we had), mac & cheese- bland, almost like they forgot to add cheese. Our ice water was never empty either. For the dessert, we got the key lime bar which was delicious. It's a subtle lime flavors which tells me it's from real limes and not fake flavoring. I'm so sad because I really wanted to like this place. :( I had heard so much about the Chicken Ceaser Wrap and was excited to try it. I was greeted very courteously by the staff and sat down at the bar. I decided to order it to go as I wasn't sure I would have enough time to eat before my next Appt. Staff was very friendly and prompt. The food also came out super quick so I decided to take a few bites before heading out. The first thing I noticed is the wrap did not have the Parmesan shavings on top. I took a bite and was so disappointed. The chicken was dry, over cooked and burnt around the edges. I'm not sure what was in the sauce but it tasted bitter and sour. Do you put horseradish in the sauce? That bitter, burnt and sour taste from the capers was a terrible combination. Bummed that I spent $20 bucks on this meal and hated it. Was also surprised to see how small the wrap was for the price. Overall the place seemed nice and wouldn't be opposed to trying something else in the future but sadly this experience was a no go. read more

I should have known my dining experience wouldn't go well when I couldn't remember for the life of me what exactly the name of the restaurant was or bred vs bread Ok so we booked ahead for AZ restaurant week and immediately disappointed when the menu main course only offered pork or vegetarian as neither of us eat those. So we gravitated onto the regular menu as they said no substitutes and that was a bummer. Then we ordered bread to start and asked waiter and food runner at two different times for it and it never came. They brought our food and acted surprised like they didn't remember we ordered it. They did end up bringing it another ten minutes later and offered to take it off charge but it seemed too little too late. The truffle fries were so crispy they were hard as a rock and inedible. The steak was pretty good as was the chicken Madeira. However, I ordered a side salad and they brought and charged me for full size $15 salad. It was a very tasty salad though so that's good. I also don't recommend the prickly pear cider it was warm and not chilled and way too much sugary syrup in it. Patio tables were Way too close you could barely get in and out and they weren't even that packed on a Friday night so could have removed at least 2 to spread out others. So close you could hear entire conversations on left and right. Putting you on edge all night lol. And on top of that our table was not just slightly but majorly wobbly rocking back and forth all night. Waiter was MIA the entire time. We saw her briefly once when she brought the bread appetizer 3/4 into eating our main course. Which means she also wasn't checking in on the long line of tables next to us either. We had a party of 4 with a reservation at 6:45. It was 7:15 before someone came over to our table to even get our drink order, 10 minutes after I had to go up to the host and ask if anyone was serving our table. By 8:15pm we still did not have our food yet. Food itself was good, don't know if it was worth the hour and a half wait though. At the end, our server dropped off our checks with no pen to sign. No one came by our table for at least another 10 minutes, and we had to ask the busboy if we could have a pen. I also paid with cash, my total being $34, so I put down 2 $20 bills. When she gave me my receipt back, she had given me $40 back just broken down in smaller bills. Eventually we asked a manager what was going on and why she just gave me my money back, and the manager laughed and said she was just breaking it up for me to pay? Not really sure why I would need $40 broken up when my change was only $6. Overall experience was not great. read more

We had the best dinner last night. We did not have a reservation and were able to get a dog friendly table out on the beautiful patio right away. My poodle loved the pup patty. We tried the Cesar salad and chicken wings to start and split the rigatoni. Everything was flavorful and the use of quality ingredients was evident. My husband ordered the margarita and it was perfect, I love the amount of salt and dried lime just looked beautiful! I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, it was great but I wish I had ordered the margarita after trying his. My best friend came into town so we came here for a little brunch. The michelada was more like a Bloody Mary and was just missing something. Not the best. We ordered the burrata & oysters to start and it was a 50/50 experience. The burrata was amazing! Great portion and olives were nice and spicy. However, the oysters were definitely not worth the price. They were tinier than the olive in my michelada which was very disappointing. The server even tried to clear our dish because she thought we were done but they were just so tiny she didn't see them! We also ordered the steak and eggs and the churro waffle to share. The steak was cooked perfectly and extremely flavorful. The churro waffle was not anything special - just your common buttermilk waffle with some cinnamon sugar on top. Lastly, I wanted to order some lunch for my husband to go. When I put in my order for the steak sandwich, the server said we do not offer our lunch menu on the weekends. After many visits to chandler over the years we noticed this spot was new and decided to check it out for brunch one morning. The menu sounded amazing and it was on the later end of brunch so it really wasn't very busy at all which was surprising since there was live music on the patio. We got seated right away, our server was also the bartender so you could tell he was multitasking but he made it work. I went with the croissant breakfast sandwich and my boyfriend did the Chilaquiles. Both were good but I wouldn't say amazing. Seemed like it was missing some seasoning or lacking a little bit of flavor. Like any croissant sandwich it was messy and turned into a knife and fork sandwich which I don't mind I did add avocado and kind of wish I didn't because it wasn't fully ripe so it was hard and not very enjoyable. I did love the sauces they had on the side like the spicy or tangy ketchup. I would like to check this spot out for dinner maybe next time we visit because like I said the menu looks fantastic I was just lacking some more flavor to the dishes we had. read more

Very nice service...wings are not crunchy, but delicious and different. The double patty burger on an onion roll, really delicious. The pretzel dessert salted caramel thing just stupidly delicious. The Mac n Cheese-was a complete sad sack, 1. Dry 2. Not creamy 3. Maybe even the wrong pasta choice 4. All the cheese was sunk soup at the bottom of the lil bowl they serve it in. I will start off by saying the host you had on Saturday morning was absolutely phenomenal. She made my girlfriend and I feel absolutely welcome. Unfortunately that is where it ended. I wish we could have tried the food but after sitting at the bar for five minutes and not even being acknowledged we left. We were the only two people at the bar. It looked as through the bartender was caught up in making drinks and busy which is understandable but a simple I will be right with you would have been nice. There was also what looked like a manager doing inventory and they both passed us with not even a hello. As a former bartender and a now manager that does inventory behind a bar, please acknowledge your guests. We felt so awkward and uncomfortable. The service was great, the drinks were great and it is a beautiful place with great ambiance and a very nice bar. I ordered the burger because it said that it was "Voted #1 in AZ" on their menu. That was the rough spot. The burger is overly salted, much like a Shake Shack burger, and has an odd sauce on top, ala a combination of McDonald's secret sauce, potato salad and pickles. It was tough to make it through the burger to be honest. The tots done in tallow were good but only because they were crispy and not greasy, the flavor was fairly standard. They also have a spicy ketchup which is odd when you expect a normal ketchup flavor. I would return for other dishes if in the area, but for the money it was underwhelming. read more
