I lived in this area 4 years ago. In every way, I just loved the charm and simplicity of the Boro Bean. Delicious coffee, homemade muffins, and the best bacon egg and cheese bagel known to man. But what made it so good? The bacon!!!! 4 years ago, they used thick cut bacon that was cooked to heavenly crispy perfection. I just returned for a visit this past weekend. Everything was the same. Still charming, still delicious everything, but I was sad to discover that they went for the cheaper, thinly sliced bacon which had no crisp at all. I came here to do some work on Friday afternoon. Boro Bean is a cute coffee shop with friendly staff. I ordered the vanilla chai and somehow avoided ordering a full tray of apple cider muffins. When I first drank the chai, I thought, "This is delicious! Pace yourself, that's a big stack of essays to grade." Halfway through the chai I thought, "This is really sweet." A few sips from the end, I couldn't handle the sugar (luckily, I could still handle the truth). I would absolutely come back here for lunch or a treat, but I'd have to go for an herbal tea next time. read more

I Recently moved into the area. I've had boro bean on my list of places to try. Last Friday was the day I went in around 4pm but too late for food but that was ok. I was greeted By Corey the barista he was very kind and funny. He made excellent suggestions for me to try, I ended up getting a dirty chai which a great blend of espresso with chai tea. I also got a banana muffin which was great and fresh they just put them out. I definitely will be back. read more

This is my favorite spot in Hopewell...and not just for coffee, but the food is excellent. I would first like to talk about the staff - even though it is a young staff, the management seems to do a great job of finding workers who are extremely friendly even under busy working conditions. They do their best to know you by name, which is a great touch. The coffee here is from Small World (located in Princeton) and is my favorite coffee hands-down. Its a great flavor that doesn't "fall-off" at the end like other coffee I've had...robust! They have an extensive menu for a "coffee shop". A variety of panini and sandwiches, platters, you name it. It seems like more of a breakfast or lunch menu but I would definitely eat dinner here too. I don't think I would change one thing about the Boro Bean - great job people!!! read more

I used to come here when I visited friends in Hopewell because the porch area was good for catching up but man I don't miss it. The owners are super rude. All the muffins taste like lemon. I guess they put lemon in everything to hide the flavor. Coffee and food are just ok. Better spots in town with much better service. The best they have is the hummus wrap. The bagels and muffins are pretty bad. Portions for sides are expensive and tiny. A waste of time and money. Even quick check has better food and service. Super high turnover rate- I saw 4 workers come and go in just a few month's time so either they aren't hiring good people or they're a pain to work for...probably people quitting. Came here on a recommendation of a friend. It's a small local cafe with an eclectic mix of art on the wall. Very cozy and has outdoor seating on a nice day. This is such a pleasant place! A big, homey porch with lots of tables, plus a comfortable seating area inside. Big variety of people...a young guy glued to his lap top in a big lounge chair, a family playing Candyland, a fellow with a massively huge beard. The food is delicious! I had a zucchini pannini, with spinach-artichoke dip and asiago cheese. It was amazing. And of course, my latte was excellent. Very nice, warm staff. Their coffee is as good as you could expect from Starbucks or Small World, yet they have quite a surprise in store for a menu. A staple in this modern-day Mayberry community, and for me and many others a home (and office) away from home. Fantastic baked goods from John complemented in warm weather by Thomas Sweet Ice Cream, in cold weather by Ellen's unbelievable soups - do not miss the chili, the gumbo or the curry lentil. Of course, the coffee flows in all weather, hot or iced. Chai, hot chocolate and lots of "girly" coffees round out the drink menu. Child friendly, lots of toys and books and usually other kids. Outdoor seating on two decks to watch your neighbors pass by, steps from the library and beloved Hopewell Park (aka, the gazebo park) for some playground time with the kiddos or some nature therapy. This is my go to spot for coffee, its unpretentious and has a generally great vibe. The coffee is great, but i have never had a cup of small world coffee that i didnt like. Muffins are like crack, highly addictive. I used to enjoy coming here for a late breakfast followed by a nice walk around Hopewell but the last two times I was really disappointed. My fiancé complained that he felt sick after drinking the coffee but I think it is because they use this really strong Small World Coffee. When I have it I have to order it with a lot of steamed milk. Not sure why they can't offer a light roast for folks that doesn't want an acid / caffeine attack. On our visit during the summer I had an egg and cheese sandwich and got pretty sick later that afternoon. A couple of weeks ago we decided to give them another chance but I really go grossed out by dead insects by the salt and pepper shakers. They need to keep that area clean. Also you have to ask and wait for ketchup that comes in a leaky plastic container that has been who knows where, what's up with that? I wonder if they are keeping up with kitchen sanitation practices and keeping food at proper temperatures and storing it properly. I am disappointed in the cleanliness of the place; I would appreciate it if someone could get back to me and let me know if they are planning to clean up their act. read more

Great coffee and baked goods, My husband and I split a large Sweet Potato Walnut Muffin which was very tasty. I recommend the Indian Chai Tea if you like a spicy, slightly sweet Chai! Great atmosphere. Plenty of outdoor seating. I went with my 17-month old son on a Sunday morning and enjoyed an iced coffee, delicious blueberry muffin, and a very good Belgian waffle with fruit. Service was friendly but I wish they were a bit more proactive. I paid at the counter where they gave me the coffee and muffin. I still needed a high chair. With my son, it wasn't easy to get the high chair, set him up, and take the muffin and coffee from the register. I ended up leaving the coffee and muffin at the register and set him up and came back. Every time I come here I am slightly disappointed. I need to learn my lesson! The staff is friendly but doesn't seem very knowledgable. For instance I asked if any of the soups were gluten free and was told the Cauliflower Barley one was (barley is gluten.) Today we got a Hippie blend coffee and it's pretty ruggedly burnt. Rather gross. Bf got an espresso chip muffin and was happy with it (it looked yummy!) Prices are a bit high for what you get in my opinion. But it's great to have a coffee shop in Hopewell - a place to work, have meet ups, etc. So I will keep coming back happily, I'll just curb my expectations and be cautious about what I order. read more

They use small word coffee which makes a fantastic decaf and the food is really really good. The owners and staff are very welcoming and it feels like you are visiting friends. Easily my favorite coffee shop :) This adorable little place reminds of you of a restaurant right out of Stars Hollow. Incredibly friendly staff, special area for kids to color and grab games, people working, reading papers in a cozy establishment. There is indoor and outdoor seating, free wifi but on the weekends they ask to restrict laptop use until after 1:30 since they are so busy! The food though.....insanely good! The best hummus I have ever had, insane vegetarian chili and every single soup Ive ever had here is to die for. As soon as you come in you will see there incredible muffins (they are MASSIVE) in crazy flavors but so delicious you will pretend the calories do not count! Coffee and Tea flows through here, and their hot chocolate is legendary. Make sure to stop by if you are in the area you will not be disappointed! read more

After a good meal down the street, a good coffee does the trick to keep me going. This little coffee shop ( very little) has coffee as if it was made just for me. Even the little pastries make the coffee taste a bit better. This town sure has good things to offer.
