We hired Borracho tacos to cater our company department beach party at Huntington Beach and they were amazing! Even from the beginning with requesting a date and planning the menu, the were professional and prompt thanks to both Jill and Alex via phone and email. They contacted me a few days earlier to confirm the menu and the location. On the day of the event George came on time and set up shop with a pretty display of salsas and was one awesome cook. The 45 people at our company party said the food was delicious (al pastor, Carne asada, chicken and the Quesadillas). I thought the watermelon Agua fresca was a bit too sweet for my taste but people enjoyed the cold drink on a hot beach day. There was so much food even with the 50 person package that people were able to go back for more. There was still leftovers which they nicely put aside and cleaned up afterwards. We had the great fortune to find these guys online with no personal referral for our grandson's 1st birthday party. They were one of the only ones who would accommodate our smaller crowd of 30 people. They were affordable and when they arrived (right on time), the set up was seamless and professional with great aesthetics. The food was fresh and perfectly prepared. We chose steak, carnitas and chicken and all 3 were a hit! The salsas and guacamole were delicious and the rice and beans completed the meal. If I could give them ZERO stars I would. Most terrible customer service I've ever experienced. Hired them for my wedding and I had a completely fine experience with them until after my event. Until my wedding I was dealing with a really nice guy, Alex, for all the details of my event. The wedding went off without a hitch, guests were happy, food was amazing. I paid my remaining balance after my event with no problems. Then, several days later, without any warning, my bank contacted me and let me know that Borracho Tacos was trying to again debit my account for my balance a second time. Confused, I called them wondering what was going on. A woman answered, whom I had never spoken to. She told me that they had refunded me and were attempting to debit the balance again to put the funds into a different merchant account. She said "we have been calling you and we emailed you" Nope, I had no voicemails or emails. I told them I had not been notified of any such refund and I certainly had not seen one in my account as of yet. She was extremely rude, accused me of lying, of not paying them and were going to refer me to collections. Mind you, it had been a week since the event. I asked for Alex, who had managed my event up until this point, and they told me he was no longer with the company. What?! My bank proceeded to tell me that they had attempted to take out the balance 7 times, and had also tried other lesser amounts to see if they could get any money at all. I ended up having to cancel my card. About a week later, a random refund showed up in my account. I sent them a check for the balance and told them to never contact me again. Unbelievable. read more

AMAZING! We've catered Borracho Tacos multiple times, but most importantly they catered our wedding in July and knocked it out of the park! They arrived early to the venue to cook, handed out hors devours (quesadillas, bacon wrapped hotdogs, and chips with guacamole and salsa) during the cocktail hour, and served tacos, salad, beans and rice for our wedding dinner. We hired Borracho for my sister's baby shower. From email to finish, Borracho had excellent communication and service. I was contacted a couple times up until the event to confirm and review invoice/agreement. I loved the check-ins to make sure everything was on target and no one was left hanging. Damien came to cook at the event and he was professional, friendly and tidy! He showed up at the scheduled time and was attentive throughout. No texting or being distracted in between service :) He brought everything needed and left all the leftovers for us to enjoy later. Food itself was delicious. Guests were happy, going back again and again. We ordered the Asada, Pastor and Mushrooms/Zucchini. Loved all, especially the Pastor. I would say rice and beans were average, but certainly a nice accompaniment included with the package. Chips and salsa were enjoyed by all! I would highly recommend Borracho! Everyone raved about the food and the excellent and friendly service. The potato tacos were a hit. They ran out of business cards because our guests requested so many. On 10/27/17, we booked Borracho Tacos for my husband's birthday party. John was our cook, and besides he showed up late and did not have any of the extra cheese that we paid for, it was an amazing dinner party. He was wonderful and the food was delicious. We contact Borracho again to book another party for 12/23/17 for my daughter's softball team and requested John again. We negotiated the price and came to a fair number due to the mishap of being late and not even cheese from the previous event and that we were a repeat customer and booked the party. Our credit card was charged accordingly. A couple days before the event, we asked if we could increase the number by 5 more people, and negotiated on a new price. Our credit card was just to be charged for the additional 5 people. Instead it was charged the entire amount again plus the extra 5 people. I emailed and they assured me it would be taken care of, and the extra could be used for the tip and the remainder would be refunded back to me. Instead, nothing was refunded back to me, my card was charged over $500 more than it was supposed to be and here it is 2 MONTHS later and I have not been refunded. I have contacted Borracho via phone and email no short of 30 times and every time I am told something different. Once it was, "a check has already been mailed to your house" and next, "it will be posted to your same credit card within the next 2-3 business days", and then, "accounting is processing it right now", and for the last 2 weeks it has been radio silence with not one return email or phone call. I am very disappointed because the food is delicious and both cooks we have had in the past were wonderful and we had such a good time. Unfortunately, the business and accounting department have absolutely ruined it for us now. We were going to use them for our quarterly office events but with a 2 month delay on over $500 refund, I cannot do business with someone who operates this way. I would like the entire balance of $1,111.97 charged to my credit card refunded back immediately. I would like an apology for the lack of response and an explanation for the horrible service. I really am hoping there was just employee issues and management has resolved it and it will never happen again because we really did enjoy working with this company and the food was so good. However, there is obviously something majorly not good anymore! So disappointing! read more

We booked and paid for Borracho Tacos weeks ago to cater our Christmas luncheon today 12/22/2017 and we were supposed to be serving at 12 pm. I started calling them around 11:30 because they were not showing up and they were not answering my calls. They never answered phone calls, they never showed up, but they charged our credit card in full $950. This is the worst business I have ever dealt with! NEVER deal with this place! They are a bunch of inconsiderate, unprofessional, Mickey Mouse operation! Save your money and book another catering company for your tacos needs! read more

HORRIBLE example of a business! I booked them for my birthday party last weekend (failing to look at the other yelp reviews that explained what I ultimately experienced). I booked for 75 people, ended up having 73 at my party. I ordered carne, chicken and mushrooms for tacos, rice, beans, chips and salsa and paid almost $650! When the employees dropped off the food, they literally threw it all on the table, had me sign a paper and left (2 minutes tops). As they were rushing away I asked if they could unwrap the food and put out the serving utensils and the woman turned around and said I don't do that without even stopping and continued out. I wish I would've taken a picture of the food. It looked like it was enough for a family dinner for 20 people. Two small containers of salsa, ONE bag of chips, exactly enough tortillas, WHOLE limes (not even sliced). It was a joke. I knew we were not going to have enough food for 75 people. By the time the first 20-25 people got their food, it was 3/4 gone, chips were out and salsa too. My husband and I didn't end up eating, along with several of our other guests because the food was all gone. My husband rushed to dominoes next door and ordered another few hundred dollars of pizza just to satisfy my guests. If that wasn't enough, my friend found a screw in his chicken!! I have a photo of it if anyone would like to see. I am so sad that I spent so much money on literally the worse service and food out there. Taco Bell would have been a better bet. On top of all that, my husband called to speak to a manager about everything and they said it was our fault for over serving our guests. Each person got 2 tacos or less and around 20 people didn't even eat so how is that our fault?! And they completely disregarded the fact that there was a SCREW IN THE CHICKEN!!! Very disappointed! We hired Borracho Tacos to cater our fundraiser for 415 people and they completely let us down. After reading all the positive reviews, speaking with Alex in the office, and doing a taste test, we decided to hire them enthusiastically. They assured us that they could accommodate our large group and said they worked with large groups all the time. They promised two complete set ups and two salsa bars to help get our guests through the food line as quickly as possible. First, they showed up about 15 minutes late because they got lost (?). Then as they set up, I noticed how little equipment they had. They assured me that they had two complete set ups and I trusted that they knew what they were doing. They are professionals! Once our guests started to line up, I noticed that they were cooking on one side of each grill and serving at the same time. Not enough food was cooked ahead of time. Then they ran out of essential ingredients and had to have someone from the kitchen bring them more. The average wait for food was 75 minutes which is completely unacceptable. About an hour into our event, I finally talked to the cook in charge and asked him to call the owners to see what could be done to help make the wait time shorter. I also left messages for the two people at the kitchen I had numbers for, one was the owner. We did not get any calls back and the crew was stuck with what they had to work with. I eventually sent my husband to buy salsa because they ran out of salsa. They eventually ran out of rice, beans, potatoes,and eventually most of the meat as well as chips. They accused us of having more than 415 come through the line which I know is not true. We gave each guest a meal ticket that had to be punched when they came through the line. Each card was punched. We estimate that about 50-75 guests did not eat full meals or eat at all. Some guests got partial meals when food began to run out, while others gave up on the line. We eventually had to call in pizzas because we knew there was no way Borrachos was going to feed everyone still in line when our event was almost over. If it wasn't for the pizza, I think we could have had a mutiny on our hands. Our guests paid good money to attend our fundraiser and were told they were going to get a full Mexican food dinner and many had to eat pizza! It was very, very embarrassing for those of us who organized the event. When the crew wanted to be paid, I said I wasn't willing to pay them until I spoke to the owners, Delia and Christian, About 10-15 minutes later, she called me and I explained the situation to her. They were very sympathetic and apologetic and we agreed that I wouldn't pay them that night. The next day, I received a revised invoice that reflected a significant reduction in my invoice which I appreciated. However, the reduced price does not make up for the fact that the disastrous food was the only element of our fundraiser that wasn't amazing. In short, I was not given the service I was promised. No one should have to wait that long for food. Help should have been available and something should have been done when we noticed the problem of the extremely long line of people waiting for their food. I felt sorry for the crew who was doing the best they could. I feel the management and owners let me and their crew down. I will not be hiring them to do another event. read more
