Haven't dined in, only ordered delivery via Doordash. Ordered at work so the order was rather large, and the order was surprisingly all correct. Steak torta was good, but not great, it lacked just a bit of flavor even with the guac and green sauce (which wasn't spicy but still good). We've been going to Boss Burrito for years, and it fits the bill for a decent quality burrito joint , for which there are not a lot of options in Oak Park. We generally get chicken burritos , beef tacos, and Chicken Fajitas, and are generally happy with the quality of the food, for what you are ordering. However, the portions tend to be smaller than similar restaurants. The burritos are pretty small. And we've got a growing teen with a big appetite who only likes protein as an ingredient. If you order a protein-only burrito for $9 it ends up being quite tiny. Same thing for tacos. So i've order extra protein, which STILL was barely noticeable. When i compare Burrito Boss's portions to other similar kinds of restaurants, the value isn't good. If you're a smaller person i'm sure the portions are fine, but its not what i'm used to at a burrito joint. It seems rather expensive for the quality and quantity of what you get, however, it is good food, if not great. read more

This is a regular Mexican fast food restaurant. Great service, friendly people and perfect location. If you have a taste for something close to authentic Mexican food and don't want to drive far, this is the spot. The both times I was here, the orchata was very good and refreshing. We ordered a stake burrito and a stake taco. The stake meat was more of ground beef but otherwise very good. The place is very small. Price is not bad at all for what you are getting. Boss Burrito is one of my favorite lunch spots. The food comes quickly, there is seldom a line, and there are always open tables. My favorite is the veggie burrito, but the chiles rellenos are good, too. They also have unusual sides, like hot carrots, and delicious horchata. The staff is super friendly, and they keep the place very clean. You can also enjoy looking at a lot of regional souvenirs that are part of the decor. The only thing I don't like about Boss Burrito? They are often out of things listed on the menu, especially desserts. Guess I'll just have to satisfy my sweet tooth with more horchata. read more

Great Mexican food options are easy to come across in the greater Chicago area. Oak Park is no exception. Like a lot of other reviewers, I have lived in Oak Park for many years but because Boss Burrito is hidden from the main strip of restaurants lining Lake Street, I had never known about it and only became aware of it from reputation. Unfortunately, I have to disagree with all the glowing reviews Boss Burrito has received. I just purchased two ground beef burritos and I am completely underwhelmed. Although the size of the burritos makes them well worth the price (I bought two because I reasoned no burrito that costs $4.50 could be that substantial. I was so wrong.) the burritos seriously lacked meat. Most of what I was given was a multi-layered tortilla and lots of melted cheese. After I finished eating it I was still hungry. I've had much better Mexican food. I can only recommend Boss Burrito for its prices. For ten dollars I bought two very large burritos. Those diners for whom price is not a major consideration, however, should go elsewhere. read more

I recently visited Boss Burrito for the first time. It's a small place in a corner in Oak Park. I walked in and noticed how small it was. There was no where to sit so I ordered the food to go. I ordered tacos and a torta. We waited there for the food and then left. It was strange even just standing there in the middle waiting for the food. This place is so small that if you're not sitting in one of the 4 tables they have then you're in the way of the waitress. The waitress who took our order was not very friendly at all. She seemed like she just wanted to get rid of us. When we got home shortly after we started to eat our food. I steak tacos had almost no meat in it. The meat it did have was purely fat and you couldn't even eat it. The food had no taste really. I don't recommend this place. There was nothing good that I had there and the staff didn't even look like they wanted to be there. read more

Every time someone opened the front door I felt the welcome breeze from a 80 degree Chicago evening. So our order: 2 horchatas Al pastor burrito Chicken burrito The horchata was gross. No flavor, just milky water and I'm still thinking it was my reason for feeling ill all evening. The burritos were bland, the salsa mediocre at best. Because of the heat inside (and honestly the taste) I only ate half my burrito, but took it home in good faith I'd enjoy it sitting next to a fan. I did not. The burrito was not small by any stretch. The pork tamales were genuinely solid. Someone's abuela trained these guys well. The salsas were flavorful. The needs improvement: the steak in the steak burrito was dry and un- (or at least under- ) seasoned. I was genuinely underwhelmed by the flavors going on here. If I'm missing out by not having tried the al pastor, I hope someone will let me know. I frequent this place often. First issue, but there was no correction. Paid for extra steak, and did not receive it. I took my food back, the young lady working the register tells me it was added. I showed the burrito, she asks the cook and no one looks at my food and they just say it was added and then say nothing. This place has delicious tacos. Definitely the best taco joint in Oak Park. I ordered the Al pastor tacos with cilantro and onion. The came out hot and the corn tortillas grilled. I recommend this place if you are in the area. If you don't mind travelling just outside of Oak Park, my favorite spot is in River Forest called La Parrallita (SW corner of Harlem and North Ave). My husband and I are big fans of this place and for the most part I'll give it 5 stars. Tonight we went and they had a new cook. We order tacos al pastor to go and they gave us tacos de asada (steak) instead. We were already home so we're not going to go back. I called to explained what happened and what I got was a thank you for letting them know instead of an apology. Needless to say that if I go there again I'll be checking my order before I leave. If the regular cook (who is the owner) is not there. I'll certainly be eating at another establishment. Today the owner was there but was not the cook. My boyfriend and I visited Boss Burrito on a Friday night, as we saw good reviews on Yelp. When arriving, we waited in line for several minutes. Their menu is large with lots of different options. There are vegetarian options. Once we placed our order and got our waters, we found a small table by the window. The table was very dirty with food and napkins all over it. We wiped it to the corner, but it should of been wiped clean before we sat down. Our food took quite some time to be made. When our food was brought to us, it looked nice. I had the vegetarian burrito, there was nothing else on the plate - I was expecting chips to go with the bottles of salsa on the table. My boyfriend got the steak burrito dinner which did come with rice and not-so-good beans. His did have some chips, but only like 3 of them and they were soggy with grease. Another annoying thing which made our visit pretty bad, their AC unit was dripping water at a constant pace. Luckily, we sat on the other side of the restaurant, but it was defiantly annoying. And I would of hated to be anyone eating their food near it. Overall, the food was okay. Atmosphere was okay. Price was high for the okay experience. Probably wont be back. read more
