I ordered the BBQ Judgement plate with vegan BBQ, potato salad, and macaroni and cheese, plus the Hawg Eggs and banana pudding, everything was flavorful, satisfying, and clearly made with care. Even through delivery, the food arrived fresh and delicious. It's so refreshing to find a BBQ place with legit vegan options that don't feel like an afterthought. I've made yet ANOTHER disappointing trip to Brew Hawg. Not because the food was bad. I've been there in the past and the food was good - the root beer was excellent - and they served the food hot and fast. Unfortunately, it appears that they have changed their business model. Just like the last time, I arrived well before closing. Just like last time, the lights were on. Just like last time, the "Open" sign was lit Just like last time, the front door was - LITERALLY - wide open. Just like last time, the same woman behind the counter informed me they were closed. Closed? I'm not sure what the sign, the lights, and the open door are for, but they do not appear to be indicators that the establishment is open for business. Points for ambiance, I suppose. Ordered the BBQ heaven plate with tri tip, beef brisket, baked beans, coleslaw, and corn bread. The portions are a slightly small, but the have competitive pricing. The tri tip and the baked beans were the only things I liked. THE CONS: The beef brisket was tough, chewy, dry and almost inedible. The cornbread was awfully dry, though the taste was okay. The coleslaw was bland, just okay. Mine literally had a single cranberry in it. THE PROS: Was expecting the tri tip to be slices, but it had the texture of a pulled pork. I actually liked it, but could see how it might be a deterrent to some. It was nice and tender and the fat on it was cooked well. The baked beans were nice and thick with plenty of tasty sauce. Overall, might be willing to give it another chance and order other meats, but definitely skipping the beef brisket and coleslaw. We ordered take out of the beef ribs since they another reviewer praised them as expensive but meaty and worth the price. Based on that review, we ordered a rack of beef ribs and were sorely disappointed. For the $50, we were expecting 7 large meaty bones that we were accustomed to mean a rack of ribs. We got only 2 full sized ribs. The remaining 5 pieces seemed like the rib bones were cut in half. None of the ribs or halves were meaty at all. They also seemed to have been cooked and reheated. The little bit of meat on the bone was not tender "fall off the bone" as expected. We love beef ribs and have been looking for a replacement for those we used to get at Tulsa Ribs and Rib Trader. Those racks were full sized, meaty, tender, and well worth the price. This was not worth even half the price. It was a definite disappointed. Not going back. read more

Super duper good!! Loved the meat (we had rib and pork) and all the sides! Beans yum.... They also had a huge variety of sauces on their sauce rack! If you like american bbq, this is the place to go! Next time I really want to try their hash browns. Apparently those are amazing. The food came out super quick, and it was a clean place to eat! The cashiers and workers there were very sweet as well. They don't give you enough bbq sauce for the amount of meat. The best taste was the coconut creamed corn. Would I recommend? Probably not. There is better bbq out there. read more

Delicious BBQ, adorable decor, and wonderful customer service. I was immediately drawn in by their name on Yelp (can never go wrong with some delicious BBQ and root beer). From the get go, I was enamored by their cute "when pigs fly" curtains and the decor that they had outside. The restaurant itself is a bit small, but there are a couple tables inside and outside. I love that they also have a rack with all of their BBQ sauces labeled so you can grab and sauce what you would like to your heart's desire. Their menu also has a plethora of different meats available along with sides and an endless amount of combinations. I'm not entirely sure of the combinations that we got, but I do recall the meats. For meats, our group got the: brisket, tri tip, hot link, and chicken. Everything was moist and delicious, with the perfect amount of crispy charred edges and seasoned to perfection. The sauces on top were only an added benefit, but I can do without as well. I'm usually not a chicken person and I know some places can make brisket quite dry, but that was not the case here whatsoever. All meats went great with the breads and sides as well. I'm a simple sausage enjoyer so the spicy kick of the hot link was greatly appreciated and was one of my favorites of the bunch. For sides, we got the: tater tots (tossed in kosher salt and their signature rub), corn (made with coconut cream and brown sugar and topped with their signature rub), slaw (creamy part vinegar, part mayo with crushed peanuts and cranberries), and potato salad. The corn was the most unique of the bunch and you can definitely taste the coconut in it. It's sweet, but strangely goes really well with the savory of our order. A must get if you are here. Everything else was a solid side as well. For carbs we got both their corn bread and Hawaiian soft roll. Meats went great with both, but maybe a little bit of sauce was needed for the dry crumbly nature of most corn breads. We also got an order of their Hawg Eggs, which were 5 deviled eggs topped with their signature rub (for a fee you can add protein on top, but we were pretty meated out at that point). I LOVE EGGS, especially deviled eggs. I probably ate the most of everyone at the table, super creamy yolk part, nice "cooling" dish to go with our hot foods, delicious. They have 4 different sauces: mustard, paleo, original, and spicy. I like the slow burn heat of the spicy but I have to say my favorite was the mustard since it added a nice sour, tangy taste to the sweetness of the BBQ sauce which, again, just served to enhance the deliciousness of the meats. All I can remember from the paleo sauce was that it tasted "lighter" in flavor and you can never go wrong with the smoky goodness of the OG sauce. Overall, delicious place to spend our lunch at, glad we had yummy leftovers to take home, and I would love to come back here again in the future! read more

Ordered delivery from here through Grub Hub. Unfortunately the order we received was wrong. I ordered brisket and pulled pork and received all pulled pork. Now, the restaurant may have been out of brisket or they made the order wrong, I'm not sure. Regardless, Grub Hub gave us a refund for the mistake. I definitely would have preferred a different meat other than all pulled pork!! I know pulled pork is typically pretty fatty but I felt like there was SO MUCH fat left in the pulled pork. Like gigantic chunks that I had to remove which I feel like isn't typical. It was fairly unappetizing, but the flavor of the pork was really good and it was super tender. Brew Hawgs is nestled in a smallish strip mall off of Tustin. The marquee reads "BBQ to go", not actually "BrewHawgs", so watch for that. Other than that it's easy to get to and parking is plentiful. There is limited inside seating (which has a welcoming, southern feel) and additional outside seating. Their BBQ sauce selections are up along the wall and are available to take to your table as you dine. The gal at the counter was very welcoming and friendly as she took orders and delivered food to the tables. There's a great variety of sandwich and meat plate options. I like how they're more unique than other BBQ places in the area. The choices for sides are great, too! At this visit I ordered the Knuckle sandwich (fun play on words!), with a side of mac & cheese. The mac and cheese was perfectly seasoned and cheesy. The sandwich was a delightful combo of pulled pork and a fried egg in a brioche bun. SO good! The one thing I would prefer here, tho, would be Coke over Pepsi. So overall, I'd say head on over and give Brew Hawgs a try. I'm pretty sure you'll discover your new favorite BBQ joint! read more

Got a baby back rib plate with mash potatoes, mac n cheese and corn bread. The baby back ribs were good 7/10 (texture and taste) but not as bomb as Lucille's. The mash potatoes and mac n cheese was giving a 6/10, not the worst and not the best but I still ate it up. The corn bread is pretty dry so I won't even rate that. I think I "researched" a gazillion BBQ places but despite a couple bad reviews Brew Hawk is where we ordered from. They were also the most affordable. I split the 2 meat combo with beans and mac. It was about $27-$29 dollars but it fed us both easily. We actually got like NINE ribs and they were tangy, tasty and fell right off the bone. Beans were good but nothing special about them. They kinda tasted like Van De Camps baked beans. No onions or cheese or peppers...the corn bread was a little dry but cornbread is hard to get just right. The Mac was clumpy and gooey, not creamy like Kraft. I think at the end of the day these are the 2 main "style" of Mac to choose from. I'm a creamy Kraft girl. It wasn't horrible but wasn't great either. Ok so a couple misses here but at the end of the day (review) it's all about the ribs and they nailed it. Go see for yourself. read more

I had evening rations here. I had a Skillet Sandwich with Tri Tip. It was a grilled cheese sandwich with the Tri Tip. Very tasty. I ordered French Fries for the side that was included. Fries were good but I thought the quantity was a bit skimpy. Deduct a half point for skimpy quantity of French Fries. Self serve soft drink station had Pepsi... great! I had to go through the kitchen to get to the washroom. The washroom had paper towels which is good. However the liquid soap was almost out. There were two signs in the washroom. One asked if you put the toilet lid down. The other sign asked people not to flush certain things such as paper towels down the toilet. That evoked memories from elementary school circa 1972-1973 because I got a big kick out of flushing paper towels and clogging up the toilet. Deduct a half point for having to walk through the kitchen to get to the washroom! If I was to assign a letter grade like is done in school this establishment would definitely get a strong B maybe even more B+. read more

I miss living next to this place. I really come here for the fresh brewed Root Beer. It's great to see someone making root beer ready on tap using fresh natural ingredients during the process. It's flavorful and full bodied. I have had many Root Beers from all over the. Country and this is pretty good. I would give it 3.5 stars out of 5 The food here is great too. I love the BBQ Cone. I was in Orange County around lunch time and our usual Bbq spot in Tustin was closed that day- scrolling thru Yelp I found this spot "Brew Hawg BBQ"- it had good reviews so I decided to try it out with my co- worker. "PEOPLE" - let me tell you it did not disappoint us one bit we both had the 3 meat combos (Tri-tip, Brisket & Chicken) / (Tri-tip, Brisket & Pork Belly). The owner was also cool as heck - he gave us the run down of the various meats and combos available & made us feel welcomed. This is one of our main go-to places when we want some good BBQ. It is a small location tucked in the back of a strip mall. There are only a few seats and it is a bit cramped. We often grab our food to go. Everything we've had is delicious and the service has been fine. They also make great root beer. Its definitely worth checking out. read more

Not pictured is The Thor sandwich with tater tots. After the reviews I'm shocked by our experience. We ordered a meat plate, the sandwich and deviled eggs. The food had no flavor or seasoning. The beans tasted like they came straight out of the can, bbq sauce tastes straight out of the bottle. All the meat was largely fat pieces. Everything had an oily coating or taste to it. The person taking out order didn't seem to know the menu or much about it. The restaurant itself is pretty small so I would say if you have more than 4 people you would want to make other arrangements. We were highly disappointed. I had been here years ago mostly because of the homemade root beer. I decided to stop by again. The restaurant has a small amount of indoor seating and there's more seating on the sidewalk. There's a variety of BBQ sauces. The service was attentive. I ordered a three meat plate with potato salad and creamed corn. Brisket chicken and pulled pork were all good. I think the star of the meal was the creamed corn. It was very tasty. I look forward to trying other meats and sides. read more
