I don't normally write reviews, but I felt this was important to share. The food and service were decent, and the owner initially made a good impression by coming over to our table to say hello, which felt welcoming. Unfortunately, later on we witnessed a troubling incident. The owner accidentally dropped ketchup sauce on the floor and reacted with visible anger, punching the wall next to the hostess stand. The hostess appeared genuinely scared, and the incident made everyone who observed it feel uncomfortable. Bosscat has always been one of my favorite restaurants in the OC area! I recently started coming to the Orange location, and the food and service were as consistent as the Irvine location. I didn't have a chance to get the bartenders name, but she helped me last time I was here. I came to work on my laptop and ordered the happy hour menu. Unfortunately, they didn't have wifi, but it wasn't a big deal. The short rib grilled cheese sandwich and the butter burger more than made up for it. The short rib grilled cheese was exactly what it wanted, but I didn't know it. ($8) I was still hungry and also ordered the butter burger. 2 smash patties together. Very delicious! The kitchen is clean and visible from the dining area. Even the owner gets involved by serving and being fun to engage with(totally added to the experience). The food has never disappointed. Pineapple Sage Elixir: 2.5/5 Strong notes of pineapple with hints of tajin. Definitely could taste the tequila. I'm not a huge drinker and didn't enjoy this drink too much. Didn't quite love the sweet and spicy flavors, but my friend who got the same drink loved it! The Good Life: 3/5 Essentially alcoholic Kool-Aid if you're into that. Cajun Brick Chicken: 5/5 My favorite dish of the night! Generous portion that's really shareable. Chicken was cooked perfectly. Rice had a bit of zing to it which everyone loved. This was my first time here and we came on a Sunday Morning for a mini baby shower! We rented out a small room here that sat about 12 or so people. It was a cute little room that was surrounded by alcohol haha not ideal for a baby shower but I still loved the aesthetic! Service was very accommodating and we even had the option of playing our own music from their speakers in the room. We came during brunch time and it surprisingly wasn't that crowded. My cousin and I ordered the Apple Cheesecake Waffle and the Smokehouse Benedict to split. Portions were huge and we ended up bringing home the leftovers. The Apple Cheesecake waffle was delicious but tasted more like a dessert. Between the two I would choose the Smokehouse Benedict. The hash gave the dish a nice crunch and the egg was nice and runny along the biscuit! We also ordered mimosas for the table, but it was a bit to tangy for my tasting. I was able to stop by Bosscat Kitchen in Orange for the first time for a friend's birthday. We made a reservation and were seated on time. We had a wonderful server help walk us through all the menu items, drink menu, and beers on tap. Food was tasty! As a bigger party, we had 2 appetizers at each table and the portobello fries were AMAZING. Huge pieces and a strong umami flavor! We had ordered different items of the menu but I had decided on the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and whoa! The fries were huge! Really paired well with the drinks we were having. I personally had a Wouldn't You, but everyone seemed to enjoy the drinks they had. The atmosphere here is casual and chatty. It was bustling but didn't feel too busy; for example: it was loud but not too loud that we couldn't hear people in our table. Parking is abundant throughout the Old Towne area. I mean the place has a +$30 short rib that's been cooked for 12 hours that truly is worth the cost both for the taste and the portion size. Insane! Many places similar to Bosscat can often come off as pretentious, but the vibe I get from both the servers and the patrons are nothing but good feels. That's in part due to the amazing mixed drinks and rotating beer selection propped up on all the monitors. I came here to celebrate my birthday on a Saturday evening. I had made reservations for 10 beforehand and they were super accommodating to get me an outdoor table in their front patio. For the whiskey room, it requires a $1k minimum, which is really pretty with all the whiskey bottles in cages. The space has an industrial, chic vibe that specializes in whiskey --my favorite! Once our entire party arrived, our server took our drinks and food. I love how she made everything sound so yummy from the detailed explanations. I started off with a Bosscat cocktail ($14). To share, our table got the Spicy Chicken & Cheese Dip ($14) and Portobello Mushroom "Fries" ($12). Both were delicious starters, especially the dip. We were able to get extra chips since we still had so much dip leftover! It did take awhile for our main courses to come out. I shared the 12 Hour Beef Short Rib ($32) and California Citrus Pasta ($21) with Spicy Shrimp (+$7). The beef was so tender over a bed of scalloped potatoes, which paired nicely with the crispy thin onion strings and fresh string beans. I was pleasantly surprised by how light and cheesy the pasta was as well. I was so full but seriously wished I could've finished all the food. They also gave me a complimentary brownie to finish off my birthday, which was nice. Overall, food was all so delicious and full of flavor. The ambiance was nice and the music was poppin'. Great spot to catch lunch at the orange circle. I came here this last weekend and was pleasantly surprise to discover this place. It's located right next to Urth cafe and I love the entire vibe and decor as you arrive. The only downfall was we were there at 1pm and wanted to try their lunch menu but they only had brunch. There so many great things in their Yelp and their actual lunch menu for lunch options so it sucks to have that dangling in your face like a carrot. I think I prefer this location over Newport! It's a better vibe. We got an Uber because parking is a pain...and whiskey. I love the outdoor seating, because the noise level in the restaurant is so loud that our party of six wouldn't have been able to hear each other. Our server Manny was on point last weekend! He had great recommendations and was very attentive. My BBQ salmon was perfectly cooked and delicious. The fried apple pie was dreamy. The Good Life is going to be my "usual" cocktail. Everything is very fresh and flavorful. The vegetables served with the salmon are seasoned well and the potatoes are so yummy. You can really taste the quality of the food. We had the most friendly waitress and she was on top of things but the kitchen took forever with our order, despite the place being half empty. I would recommend this. **Bosscat Burger (The Chefs Way) 1000/10 I've eaten many burgers in my life, and the Bosscat burger the chef's way has to be my #1 favorite. The regular Bosscat burger has bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and housemade pickles. However, for $1, you get it the chef's way. They scrap that and make everything gourmet. It's 100% worth it. Everything was so flavorful. The patty was so juicy and cooked to perfection. For the cheese, they used goat cheese, and it took the burger to another level! I've been here twice now with my fiancé and the food the first time was great, but the second time, it was not as great. This recent visit we had tried the pasta with shrimp and mostly all the items on the happy hour menu. The pasta and the poke (from happy hour) were probably the best in taste. Not too salty and the sauces were great. The other items from happy hour included the tacos, buttered bun burger, and I think it was a pot roast sandwich. The tacos were bland, the burger was super super buttered and salty, and the sandwich was really salty that we didn't even finish that one. I just remember, for the appetizer, we had these fried potato fries kind of thing with gravy. Those potatoes absorbed a lot of oil and gives you the feeling of just ughh after eating. Overall, this would be a great place to come out with friends or a large group. Side note, if you come there to just eat, your server may keep insisting you to get a drink because you're at a whiskey restaurant.
